So a few days ago we heard about 902 being potentially soak tested and since then deafening silence. Anyone know what's going on with the latest update not getting pushed out?

SamuriHL,
Unfortunately I noticed in a posting on the Motorola Forums,
Matt says it is all a rumor:
"What the heck are you talking about? Why would we do this?
Guys, this is all just rumor. You know the soak tests have credibility when they post my confidential emails on the tech sites, right?"
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/40cc13fd3f?post=40cc13fd3f&start=91
So, I think this was all a rumor started by DL - which stinks - really looking forward to an update - at least an official version of .901 even if it was called .902.
Appreciate the info. I was travelling for work last week so I thought I might have missed something. Good to know. But it does seem odd there's no update yet.

I agree. They could be working on something but maybe do not have enough together to call it an "update" that will be pushed to "testers". Who really knows with Motorola and VZW anymore - would be nice to know whether they are truly standing behind the .901 update they accidentally pushed out to some (will support it and upgrade it to the next version whenever another update does come out) .
Definitely a valid question. I've had next to 0 problems with the 901 rom myself. I was on vacation in a 4G area for a week....battery rocked, stable communication. I was travelling for work last week and in 4G for 4 days. Same experience. If they have something better, great, but, I AM happy with the Bionic right now. Of course, I'd love to see ICS on it. I've been loving ICS on my Xoom. But I don't expect we'll see an ICS update for the Bionic before May or June IMO.

Yes, but remember that MOTO/VZW NEVER released that OTA to the general public.
Most people with a Bionic are still suffering with that first crappy OTA that was pushed.
Post that push, the silence has definitely been deafening.

Yup, I completely agree. That's why I'm confused that there hasn't been an update by now. 901 got accidentally pushed to a bunch of users OTA and that's how a lot of us got it. One would think, since the majority of the feedback from those who have it has been overwhelmingly positive, that they'd want to get that update out there. Even if it's not perfect, it's miles better than the 5.5.893 release that was pushed out. VZW needs to work on optimizing their testing procedures IMO. This is exactly why I fear we won't see an ICS update until May or June or even possibly later. Moto could finish it by March, but, if it has to go through 8+ weeks of VZW testing before they start to push it out, well, that's not good.
just got off with motorola chat support:
brett: i have heard conflicting reports regarding bionic software version 5.5.893, 5.9.901 and 5.9.902...which is the latest, official version to be running
Andrew: The one with the 901 on it, there's no 902.
brett: 5.9.901 is the latest official version
Andrew: Yes, that is correct.
brett: i have 5.5.893 and when i check for updates it states there are none available
Andrew: The 901 is still in the process. Not yet complete. Can you give me your phone number we will keep you posted if we have all the information in the system.
brett: so 901 is the latest official version but has not been released to the public officially?
brett: so i am correct and up to date in having 5.5.893 installed?
Andrew: Yes, you have the up to date software, I will check when will be the full deployment of the 901 so that we can let you know, also give me the MEID# of the phone.
brett: you will check now and let me know now?
Andrew: I will need to forward the report of yours, sorry I don't have the information here in the system, we will check back with you about it, is this your good email address here as well?
Good deflection. Never give anything to the man.
On Topic: Good news for people who updated to .901. Your probably not off the upgrade path!
I wasn't worried. I just want to know when the darn thing's going to be released officially.
so even though 901 is still the official build they are testing, maybe the 901 that they will release will not be the same as what was discovered via the cheesecake servers. with all this time to test and modify, features may have been added or removed. maybe the features of the "902" update will be merged with the 901 that is currently in circulation. those on 901 now may very well have to downgrade to 5.5.893 to accept the new and improved 901!
also having shown that 901 is still the current official build in testing, it is interesting to note that Blur_Version.5.9.901.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip has been found on the cheesecake servers, but fails to install once downloaded - whether you are on 893 or 901. the filename suggests an update form 901 not going to 901 based on how these update files are named.
The version of 901 I'm using did NOT come from the cheesecake server. It was captured from an ota push.

.901 isn't a cheesecake update I was accidentally pushed OTA.

Source? The rest of us got it from an OTA that was shared around.
source: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/16519-proof-59902-exists-invalid-update-file/
look at post #12 by connor3485 for the mediafire link to the Blur_Version.5.5.901.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip file.
and i stand corrected, 901 was in fact an accidental OTA push to some and not a cheesecake find - i am wrong in stating it was "cheesecaked"....but then how are they still "testing" 901? it was accidentally pushed a while ago...but still, could modifications still be made to it, so much that the version that might be eventually released "officially", be different from the version that was accidentally pushed?

Moto has stated *from what I've read* that .901 will be the official update. It was just accidentally leaked before it was suppose to be released OTA.
Soak Test email invitation!
I was sent an email today asking me if I wanted to be a part of the Droid Bionic Soak Test, 2/5/2012. Part of the questionnaire asks if you have modified your phone/rooted it and you have to agree to return it back to stock in order to participate. I'm traveling this week and will not be able to mess with my phone to return it to stock, so I decided not to participate. Does anyone know if If I should have just told them that I would revert back to stock and try the update anyways? I wish I could have participated.
Hope you guys get a chance!
Droid Bionic, stock-rooted, forever root .893
We've had leaked versions from Motorola's staging servers since February, and Motorola sent out an invite to potential soak testers in March (which they have not yet acted on).
I don't really expect much out of an update other than kernel and radio updates (I get everything else from the awesome ROMs by our devs), but I'd still like to see something come out!!
So, with that in mind, please feel free to rant and speculate below.
I wouldn't be surprised with nothing coming in the future.
Because Motorola is a whore.
I've seen a couple of posts on various forums with peole receiving replacement or new Droid 3s that already have the 906 update installed. It's possible they've just decided to skip the soak test and are planning to push the update soon. Of couse this is entirely just speculation.

My brother's replacement he got last week came with 890. Was kinda of happy about that since there's not way back from 906 last time i checked.
D2 and D4 Received Updates This Week
DroidForums.net reported on their Twitter feed that updates for the Droid 2 and Droid 4 rolled out on Monday and Wednesday, respectively. Hopefully we'll see something soon for our phone!
I hadn't seen that (but then again, I don't do much twitter so no surprise I guess
I am really considering just installing the 906 update anyway, but if this is coming soon I'd rather the official update.

Are there really NEW new Droid 3's out there with .906? I can understand a refurb coming with it (due to some flaw in the refurb process where Moto forgets to do a true factory reset on a user-updated device). It's all speculative as you say, but that would be a good sign...
No
Anyone receive the mysterious ota that sprint was supposed to roll out a few weeks back?
Disappointed that LG went from no lollipop updates, to weekly updates(after stage fright) back to no real updates until M.
I had a notification to install the OTA last night
Just saw the change log. Not too much. It seems to be more of a 3rd party app update and potentially locking the camera down more for rooting. I'll know more when it reaches us.
Still bothered that all the other big players have 5.1.1 and stage fright fixes, while LG has opted to once again go with a new version of Android instead of going with a more reliable patched version. I'm happy we will see M, but probably never any major updates to it.
Oh is there any more information available regarding LG or Sprint plans to update the LG G4 to Android M, or at least where could I read more about this?
There are quite a few but here is the gist, http://www.techtimes.com/articles/6...droid-5-1-1-lollipop-update-for-android-m.htm

The way LG does things we usually don't see the .x updates. For example 5.1 to 5.1.1. But they still roll the fixes within the version. So the fixes promised by Google in 5.1.1 are present in the ZV6 update:
Memory leak ✔
Play services & Location batt drain ✔
Security fixes ✔
Performance lag free ✔

Mine just popped up too.
I don't get it why are they stalling
Somewhat dissappointing
The AT&T page doesn't even show this update yet. Somewhat of a mystery.
They just did:
Software update includes
Device security improvements
Disappointing...
i thought i saw there was a problem with 6.0 and not being to unlock phones with pin/ fingerprint after updating..

There's nothing disappointing about improved security when it comes to my mobile device.
For shame with that attitude.
Bad dog, that is a no-no.

Well, most of us are waiting for Marshmallow. We are almost the last ones to get that update.
However if this update makes you happy, that's cool.

Its pretty disappointing when every other major carrier in the US has released Marshmallow for the S5 weeks ago, and they're still sitting here dilly dallying with security updates. Fine security updates are good, but we want Marshmallow end of story.
Anyone care to share the update here? I have to use Odin, no AT&T account. Thanks.

It's too late. You are already a bad dog.
Its a little early...but based on some very heavy use yesterday...this update seems as stable as all the other Lollipop builds to date.
Based on what I've seen from other carrier flavors of Marshmallow on this device...about the only thing that Marshmallow is going to give me is the ability to sideload GoodLock and MAYBE better mem management in regards to suspended apps/multi-tasking. Its not like Marshmallow is going to magically give me 2 hours extra SOT and make me a ham sandwich or something...Lollipop builds have been stable, bug free, been delivering 4-6 hours SOT, relatively snappy performance and the ability to go many days without a reboot based upon my use...and I don't think that will change drastically with Marshmallow. I'll probably keep this device for another year/year and a half anyway...so it will happen when it happens.
Even though it is annoying that the locked bootloader is keeping me from root and the ability to modify a few things (like running AdAway and uninstalling bloatware) and due to the fact that I can't run Xposed on Lollipop with Samsung ROMS anyway...this phone on AT&T has been one of the most stable, dependable devices I've owned to date.

Hey, my phone got updated this morning! Was it Oreo? No...no, it was a security patch. Are we getting Oreo before the G7 comes out or is it not looking too good for the G6?
Not really sure why everyone is so impatient about getting Oreo. 7.0 works fine and we are getting security updates. What doesn't work that requires Oreo? I'm happy to wait.
given the issues that tmo seems to be having with the oreo update, im very much ok with waiting for it. 7.0 works quite well and we are getting the security updates.
Interesting because I'm not getting the updates and am actually still on December's patch

This update is rolling out in waves. The last update was the December security patch so nothing unusual here. It will come to you eventually.
Android Authority reports the US Verizon G6 got Oreo today. T-Mobile is usually the last among US carriers to get major OS updates, so I suspect we'll get it in July.

I believe it is because T-Mobile does so much mucking around with the MFG's FW. I think they monitor the apps you install, block tethering apps (at an OS level), and do other things that are not good and add bloat.
I am rooted and waiting for Lineage or another to become more stable and I am ditching T-Mobile's FW releases.

Got the update today. Seems pretty nice so far. Cleaner. Nice little touches here and there. Even freed up some much needed space. Only thing I'm noticing is a good bit of lag in chrome especially when typing.

It was OTA. Popped up late the night before I made that post. As long as you're not rooted or modified any system files, I don't think an unlocked bootloader will affect an update.
And a lot of the lag cleared up. Just some FC issues with some games at first start. Still don't have great wifi or cell reception with this phone.
