Has anyone successfully replaced their TMobile HD7 on warranty? I am having a problem with the Zune locking up constantly and am hoping that new hardware could stop that problem as it doesn't seem to happen to everyone. When I called CS they just ran me around with "this isn't a documented issue blah blah" and forwarded me to the tech support who knew nothing about it.
How did you go about replacing your HD7 on warranty?
I have successfully replaced my HD7 on warranty with no problem, but then again, I had insurance on my phone as well.

I've searched the forums on death, loked up, "red light of death" and "radio", and not found a similar posting to this in the Kaiser forums. The closest I found was in the Hermes forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349461&highlight=lockup
So if something like this is already posted, please be kind in pointing it out to me -- I looked.
Basically, similar to Hermes, my Tilt started losing radio ability around the 15th of December -- about the time I used GPS on it for about 1.5 hours straight. Symptoms began as a failure to receive calls, then a failure to be able to send them. At some point I still had internet connectivity, but then that went out completely, too.
I tried several soft resets, and that did not solve the problem. So I backed everything up and hard reset. No dice there, either. I then took my Tilt to a local AT&T store; after switching out the SIM, they directed me to the AT&T warranty number (my Tilt was purchased 10/10/2007). I called the warranty number, and they directed me to a repair site within 25 miles of me. I went there, they tested it, confirmed that it would need to be replaced under warranty and then told me that they don't stock them.
Bottom line is that AT&T warranty service sucks -- I can't get a replacement phone until Wednesday, January 2nd (normally it would be 24-48 hour replacement, but New Years interrupted that). Of course, I do not find it reasonable to pay $400 for a phone and then not be able to get an immediate replacement when the sucker craps out -- assuming supplies on hand (which the original store had!)
Anyway, in case any of you also experience this (the breaking phone, not the poor AT&T service -- I assume everyone will experience that, eventually), here are my phone's particulars:
ROM version: 1.57.502.2
ROM date: 08/25/07
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Protocol version: 22.45.88.07H
The phone has about 21+ hours of calls through it, too.
So now I am using my old XDA IIs with a cracked screen so I can have a phone at all... And am waiting on Wednesday to hurry up and get here so I can go back to using a Tilt. And I am really hoping that the refurbished unit I get is in as good of a shape as the one I am returning.
Has anyone heard of this before?
Hi guys,
I'm looking for any details of a Tilt repair center that might be able to repair my tilt. I previously bought it off eBay and the seller is not replying to my emails for procedures on how to get it repaired, so assume that this is not a warranty claim and that I'll be shelling out for all costs associated.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Btw, this is in regards to the battery consumption problem detailed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371734&page=16
Thanks.
I'm on the same boat, bought it off ebay, denied the warranty from Squaretrade and don't know if ATT will cover my problem. I haven't tried yet but i will... i'll tell them something like i recieved it as a present from a relatvie who bought it from an ATT store with no contract.
I'd suggest going to an ATT store and trying your luck, if they deny to repair it for you then head over to pocketpctechs.com. I know they repair pda's. Or you could directly call HTC USA, get their number from their site, or call ATT customer service and see if they can give it to you.
The battery drain problem seems software related and not hardware (atleast in my case)
have you tried changing your radio?
I'd love to goto an AT&T store but unfortunately I'm all the way in Australia. Let us know how you go with trying to claim directly from AT&T with no paperwork. I'm hoping they have an internal register of serial numbers/imei's that they can refer to when determining whether items are still under warranty or not.
In regards to the software issue; I've upgraded to all different roms and radios but none of them seem to turn the battery consumption down below 130mA in standby. I've even disabled all commuications items and left the today screen empty but no joy.
I am having trouble with my tlit for the last 2 weeks as it is not recognizing my sim card I have cleaned the sim, hard/soft reset, other sim cards, send to htc, tried differnet radios and still with the same problem, I am getting very angry as this is my 2nd htc device which gone bad and this time do not have money to buy another pda this one still under warranty is there something else I can do before I throw this pda out of the window :!!!
please Help !!!!
Take it into a nearby store and have them try a new sim in or if anyboydy in you family has ATT, use theirs and see if the problem still persists.
Time to use the warranty again

Yes send it back to HTCs repair centre under warranty and tell them the problem either wasn't fixed properly the first time or has reocurred. You also need to ensure your network provider has provided you with the correct sim for a Kaiser (although you say it's a Tilt which is AT&T your icon shows vodafone so for them it'll be the same sim as for their V1615).
I got the same error today... but it works again now.
I dont realy know what append.
First I tried it in another phone Ok on that phone, not on the HTC TyTN2
second I tried on HTC P3600 it is ok,
Third retry on the HTC Tytn2 it worked well.!!!
The Htc Tytn2 is under WM6.1 (upgraded from WM 6.0)
When the issue occured, during the boot, I got the message to start in safe mode may be there was somthing wrong with one driver.
when I got it running with the sim the HTC didn't ask any more to start in safe mode... let you investigate.... good luck

I'm confused as to what you actually have there is it
A) A Tilt (ie the US Version of a Kaiser with bloatware but no VGA Camera) which is used on AT&Ts network
B) A 'genric' ie HTC branded TyTN II
C) A Tilt but you've never activated it and instead unlocked it/modified it to use a Vodafone sim on it or
D) None of the above (in which case what is your arrangement)?
Anyone who has a Tilt but unlocks it to use another providers sim in it (without getting the unlock code from AT&T to do it officially - or putting it back to stock condition before reporting a problem) will probably run into warranty problems I'd imagine - I hope this isn't you
it is a at&t from usa. For unlocking sim as many others did when they need to replace their mobile was to put in back original software so should not be a problem. What if i get at&t sim card and number will at&t consider me as their client a replace my tilt under warranty !
This happened to me! I was taking a nap and I woke up wondering why I hadn't received a call, and there was the emergency call only screen. I turned off my phone and then took the SIM card out, put it back in, and booted it up. It did the same thing, but I turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine. I hope it doesn't happen anymore, I was scared. Good luck getting yours back! That's the only problem I've had with my Tilt, minus the not having 3G or Edge service where I go to college.. even though it's on the highest hill in town. and I'm supposed to have service. hmm.
I have a T-Mobile branded Diamond that has a hardware fault (no USB connection, short battery life and overheating).
I managed to flash it back to the original T-Mobile ROM, but forgot about the SPL, so T-Mobile are refusing to repair under warranty.
And now it's ended up bricked whilst I was trying to put the SPL back to normal too.
So with T-Mobile as a no go option, what are people's experiences dealing directly with HTC over warranty, as surely they can't deny responsibility just because someone chooses to change software versions?
Why not figure it out to unbrick then load all the original spl and rom on it and take it back to them, like a few days later.. If they say something like.. 'you already bought this in with diff software' ... say...'proove it, bullsh*t, now get your manager!' enough arguing and threats always work imo.
That was exactly my thought, get the right SPL back on there and then deny I had ever changed anything (which I what I've said to them so far).
But the problem is that I am stuck on the bootloader (showing the new non-T-mobile SPL of course) with no way of flashing anything else into it due to the dead USB...
updated to new version, i get an error message "Phone Model Not Found" 'My Account application is designed only for T-Mobile Android supported phones. We're working on a solution for unsupported phones.'. is anyone getting this? my phone is rooted and running Cyanogen ROM. called TMobile and they could not resolve this issue.
Try removing app reboot and reinstalling? Haven't heard of this problem and mine works fine..
Same issue CM 3.9.2
i called TMO and they told me to uninstall and reinstall. same problem. I didn't have the guts to tell the Tmo rep that my phone was rooted...so they could not resolve this issue..though my friend who works for TMo says they don't care if your phone is rooted...i might just give them a call tomorrow again..
Umm, not reccomended, I talked to a customer svc rep on my 4th warranty swap and to try to bypass all t he retarded troubleshooting told him id reverted it back to rc 29 to try to fix it.... he took that to mean id rootesd it and started the process of voiding my warranty... :-((( I immeadeatly asked to speak to a supervisor and told him id only reloaded the stock rc29 rom and that in no way an official firmware should touch my warranty he aggreed and told me they'd be explicitly checking my phone for 3rd party mods..... I wasn't an happy panda....
On another incident I spoke to a much cooler rep and mentioned installing an app id found here on xda, he immeadeatly warned me 3rd party mods void my warranty and I clarified by saying it was only an application not a ROM....
Maybe I get the dickheads or my call center is just on the watch for it or what I had a t-mo store assoc. Tell me that no software ROMS firmware etc could void the warranty, only hard mods eg. Opening the phone
This problem is discussed extensively in this thread along with some potential fixes.

i got this to work.

Throw them off their game by asking which Primus article or Streamline path indicates that a flashed ROM will void your warranty. Seriously - I know of no such policy. Of course, maybe I'm just to generous. You tell me what I want to hear and I'll send out a phone (assuming I know it not to be a stupid problem like no memory left on a blackberry, etc)...
But seriously I keep hearing on forums like this people talk about voiding your warranty with rooting, but I don't see anything in policy. I'd like to know if anyone has ever been charged the $100 OOW fee due to a rooted phone?
