Samsung was so kind to send me 2 Galaxy Tab 10.1 (one IO Limited Edition, one final commercial GT-P7500 with TouchWiz)
Thanks to them, I can develop develop stuff for you guys.
As a tablet is mostly a screen, its performance and accuracy plays a big role in the user experience. That's why I started here.
I added preliminary support just now to alternative screen color profiles in my one of my in-dev apps named "Voodoo Screen Tuning", available for free on Android Market. (starting snapshot 26)
This app is very much experimental and not a final product. See it as an internal leak from a R&D lab ^^
I'm working on it since months, and it's a long-term project.
As the benefit is already massive IMHO I share with you the new screen colors during the dev phase.
Enjoy! − Need some feedback!
supercurio giving us Tab owners new ****? We could only be so lucky! Thanks a lot!
Awesome! I'll try it out when I get home tonight!
On a different front, since you're a screen expert, many of us have been unhappy with the sensitivity of the GT10 touchscreen. Someone did a test a little while back and found that there were far fewer "touch events" than with his Transformer. Is this a hardware limitation, or do you think the software can be tweaked to improve handwriting? Also, what about the "palm recognition" (where it can tell if your hand is resting on the screen)?
BTW- How did you get samsung to send you free tablets?! I'll say whatever they want to hear!
Edit: I just realized you're the supercurio that does the Voodoo audio stuff! We love you around here!

My GT-P7510 Google IO tab touch sensitivity is spot-on, but the other one (commercial GT-P7500) lacks a bit in terms of touch responsiveness so I think I see what you mean.
No developer messed with the digitizer settings yet?

By working for you, with them!
I have very regular contacts with people paying attention to the work hackers do at Samsung Mobile US and Korea.
For the record, I bought an ASUS Transformer first and I must admit I would not have dev'ed for the Tab 10.1 if they didn't sent me devices.
Win-Win, and If my plan is to sell advanced color controls, I take care sharing the most important features for free as you can see.
Note:
In current version: only a reboot let you go back to the original Samsung screen settings.
Welcome to tab's 10.1 world.
And by the way, not that I demand something, do you aware of voodoo sound problem when 10.1 is working through phones - volume control does not regulate much... there are only like 4-5 steps in volume range.

As I repeat over and over, I only pushed some code on github like I always do in real-time, but its never been meant to be re-used in distributed kernels for end-users.
So no it's not broken, it's just not supposed to be available at all − yet.
Thanks for passing by the message.

glad to have you over here bro!
Glad that Samsung was smart enough to send you a Tab!!
Welcome supercurio! This is very exciting indeed.
Install and reboot. That's it right? No config or anything....?
excellent last time i saw u was back when i had my IS9000
welcome!
i applied your app and wow..the colors are more natural now..lots better!
Finally a well known dev!! glad to see devs like supercurio aboard the gtab market.
Will test this out when i get home :]
so how does this differ from the render effects in cyanogenmod?
The GTab just keeps getting better! This deserves a BEWM!
Welcome aboard mate!!!
LOL... perhaps I am doing it wrong, but I notice no significant differences what so ever

YES! finally the right man for this
Please look into the digitizer accuracy for the Galaxy tab GT P7500
The note taking is bad on this plus slow movement of finget or stylus gives a wavy line on diagonals
do respond on this , a lot would benefit if the note taking worked reliably
so I installed your app, rebooted and opened it, I get the native white option and the 6500K white option, now what? the native white seems much better than 6500K white.
Am I missing anything?
Screen settings set back to standard, rebooted twice.
When i touch the overlay buttons, my tab freezes for 3-4 secs. No change in color :-( I've prolly done something wrong. Help?
I'm on latest "In Paris ROM" w/pershoots latest kernel....
Will screen tuning be implemented into voodoo control for our tabs like in the i9000 voodoo control app?

Hey everyone. I posted a while back about my previous app, "Goonchie Blunch" but nobody really commented. It got almost 2,000 downloads. I redesigned it all with new graphics and sounds. It's really cool now! It's a new app, so I renamed it "Touch Drummer - Demo". I'd love it if some of you could get it and let me know what you think! It should be under Games > Just In, relatively close to the top.
If you don't have Market here is the .apk
Version 1.21
http://www.mediafire.com/?nmjmmjndmix
Recent updates added new animated menus, "techno" sounds, support for all screen sizes, and runs on Cupcake 1.5 too now. I'm getting a lot of feedback now, since there have been almost 5,000 downloads of "Touch Drummer", and I think I'm gonna try to add some really cool features like creating custom loops and multitouch, then make that version cost around $2, whadayathink?

I am not sure if it is a paid app or not, but you may want to put either a QR, or a link for it in here since I just wrote something about it and it will probably be up in the portal sometime next week...
Thanks dude! The more time I have to work on it, the faster it will be. At the current state, there are a lot of png images that can take some time to switch on older phones. But the audio is pretty fast because the clips are ogg format.
I'm working on a version with multitouch support, since all the reviews have asked for it. I've got an HTC Incredible I can test on. But more importantly, I'm recognizing a multitouch on our old screens and I'll see if I can't play a new sound when you hit another drum, even if you don't release the first finger yet. That will probably be ready in a week if it works well.

Multitouch
So I'm really close to having multitouch work 100% (just for this app) on our devices. The problem I finally hit was there is no difference in the values I'm getting if you a) touch once, then remove and touch somewhere else simultaneously, or b) touch once and hold, and then touch somewhere else (multitouch). I can't think of a way to differentiate the two types of touches and it's the last piece of the puzzle. Usually when you lift up that first finger you get a certain code back, but when you press somewhere else quick enough the code does not come up! Any programmers or someone with an idea can help me?
Updated first post with new multitouch* app.
* - It works 60% of the time, every time.

That's alright. I'll have to do some updating of that title on the market (actually I just did update it to 1.03, but Touch Drummer is the version that allows really quick clicking on our devices), and I'll just tell people to search for the new version with more features will be called "Touch Drummer." Thanks a lot egzthunder!
EDIT: Touch Drummer - Demo is uploaded to the market.
New version, supports our small screens now, and even Cupcake. Updated first post with the newest apk.
So, our devices can do multitouch? Or at least, a hack up job?

Yes it's a hack job, the way I implemented it. When you first press twice I can recognize both fingers almost accurately. But if you try to move them there's no way of telling which one you are moving.
This was in the post earlier but I must have deleted it. The multi-touch was acting up because of the nature of the program and its quick presses. I took it out because most of the devices running my app are capacitive screens anyway. But if you wanted to see it, I could write up a simple demo app that would show a "1" under the first finger and a "2" under the next finger. It's an implementation that works, but I just don't have a good use for it in my app.

Eagerly awaiting this one as well!
OP, are you going to be using an on screen d-pad input for this or implement a type of on screen analog stick (not unlike the iPhones Doom Resurrection)?
Because they seem much more free-flowing, so to speak. Especially in FPS games.
Or even better- a dual-analog input like most consoles FPS games (left analog for movement and direction & right analog for freelook?) could that be possible? I think that would definitely make the playing experience much more enjoyable.
Anyways, good luck!

As of right now it's a mix between a D-pad and analog stick sortof. But I may go for a complete analog feel.. That's a good idea.
Also, BRILLIANT idea with the flipped landscape so you can use the volume rocker for input ;D

Yes it is truly amazing ease of access.
Is it possible to use the six axis accelerometer to control the look/aim? That would eliminate the use of the bottom right analog and would just be amazing. But it sounds like a tricky implementation.

play heavy gunner and get back to me on that. It uses the accerometer and it's very difficult to use. I don't want to swing my phone around to lay an FPS game. I also vote for dual analog controls. I have a captivate, and I'd be willing to test this game.
Been testing this on and an off all day on my Captivate. Works great. I average about 50ish fps. Once in ahwile it will hit 60, then lag for a split second and jump to 40. Then back to 50s. Much faster than my Nexus. Multi touch works alot better also, its very playable. The taunt and crouch buttons don't work for me, and neither does the weapon switching bar. So I'm stuck with whatever I pickup. All in all, not bad for a beta.
I must have missed the link to the .apk

My vote, after playing a NOVA and Crusade of Destiny, is a D-pad like in Crusade. It is very fluid and easy to use. In a perfect world, I would say have two D-pads: left for movement and right for look. Then use the volume up to fire.
I have a captivate if you need more testers. I still can not believe we get 40-60 FPS on this game. Never did I think I would see the day where my cell phone can play 3d FPS with ease.

A dpad for aim/look would be horrible. With a touch screen we can get aim close to the accuracy of a mouse. with some sort of dpad we're taking a huge step back.
Crusade of destiny is different because thats not a first person shooter, its 3rd person.
Make the controls like nova. They are easy. (Left joystick moves. Drag anywhere on screen to aim, fire button can be moved like a joystick to get finer accuracy..)
I dont like the arrows, make it a joystick plz.
I am glad to help too with my Captivate

Isn't Q3 open sourced? there are a lot of free versions of the game available that just use different skins, so you should be able to easily port a free version of the game over.
you should start up a website/donation area and take requests at porting other games
I have hosting available that im not using
A little over a month ago we made a promise, get us an HTC Incredible and we will give you a Rom. You, our fans and supporters came together and got us that phone. Today marks a major event for us and for you as well, for all of you that have donated and supported us we now give you Ruby, for the HTC Incredible! and for us it means we have now gone multi-device! We have been known all this time as the Sapphire Rom and this has always been incorrect, from here on out we will be known as Crystal Clear Roms(CCRoms), and each device will be its own specific gem in our lineup.

For Ruby we don't want to just straight port our original Sapphire rom to the Incredible, but that isn't a bad place to start. All standard features such as internal storage, camera, mms, sms, everything else you would expect to work does plus what has been added already to Sapphire. More phone specific optimizations will be added in the future, such as trackball wake, etc.

For all of you Sapphire users out there we haven't forgotten about you either. With this release you will see a refining of the volume rocker music skipping. We have incorporated the modifications from Alankila for Digital Signal Processing, makes for some pretty awesome music! Stagefright has been re-enabled, and all of the kernels now have the new interactive governer as an option in SetCPU as well.

Yup going to give it a try, sounds like a tump over CM 6.0.1 right now especially if you have internal memory mounted and reporting to where we can use it. Any news on the Kernel? Got anything special to pass along about it as far as OCing or battery saving features / performance features?
Anyone able to get GPS working? After installing maps, it won't pinpoint my location, closest I can get is to within about 1200 meters.
Great looking rom. I really like it. It has the same issues Cyanogen has for those keeping score: Apps don't scan the built in 8gb for files. (you can get to them through file managers, but your music/pics won't be found). Also BT streaming audio doesn't work. Otherwise though, top notch!! Also for some reason my phone think's it's Roaming?
Is Gmail FC for anyone else? I can't seem to access it at all... That is definitely not good for me..
I installed the Gapps and the phone stuck at the splash screen. Reinstalling the ROM / Apps now going to see if it will let me boot.

SOURCE : Kickedface
RIM CEO Thorsten Heins took to the stage to announce that RIM will be seeding Dev Alpha devices to developers for app testing. The device in question is not a commercial handset--in fact, it doesn't even work as a phone. Source : Asia Cnet
Heins, who was appointed CEO three months ago, pointed out that RIM is "making incredible progress on BB 10". He gave a quick onstage demo of what's in store for BB 10:
Notifications
The new notifications feature uses a swiping motion RIM calls "glancing". In any app, you can access your notifications simply by swiping sideways and keeping your finger on the screen. This brings up the notifications sidebar, and you can decide whether to continue or exit. During the onstage demo, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins noted that the swiping gesture flows across up to three applications back.
For the "glancing" feature to work, apps continue running realtime in the background and are not killed. We're a little worried about how this feature will affect battery life, though.
Keyboard
According to RIM's head of software portfolio, Vivek Bhardwaj, the new onscreen keyboard uses a "modelling algorithm" that's tailored to the user. Aesthetically, it's designed to look like the BB keyboard, complete with its renowned frets.
Bhardwaj's team must have gleaned some inspiration from Swype, because the new keyboard uses various intuitive gestures--for instance, swiping up and down for numbers and symbols, and backwards to delete words. While you're typing, word suggestions appear above the letters and you can swipe them upwards to add them to the message body. This is probably a lot faster than typing on a typical touchscreen device, but whether diehard BlackBerry users will consider it a worthy replacement for the company's famous physical keyboard remains to be seen.
Camera
RIM's current crop of BB 7 devices use continuous autofocus and hence lack a tap to focus function. BB 10 OS brings with it the ability to tap anywhere on the screen to focus and then shoot a picture.
That's not the most exciting and innovative feature of the camera app, though--it's the ability to go back "in time" to catch the perfect moment that caused the crowd to gasp audibly. For example, if you've captured the perfect photo but find that it's ruined by someone who is blinking, you can scroll a few frames forward or backward to the suitable moment. This saves the trouble of having your subject pose for another picture.
RIM also shared the stage with some developers, who showed off native BB 10 apps that have already been created. For example, Gameloft will have 11 games available on the platform when it's made available, and Pixelmags promised 10 free minutes of reading each month for its stable of e-magazines.
RIM is placing all its bets on the next-generation operating system (OS) to pull it out of its woes. It needs to restore investor and consumer confidence, as well as flagging smartphone sales. Based on what we've seen of BB 10 so far--as well as developers' works--there may be hope for the beleaguered company after all.
Stay tuned for more coverage from BlackBerry World coming soon.
Soooo....anyone having a bash at replicating the BB10 call screen as in the video? See 0:16 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEPYYo0-gfc
please anyone say?
In india,bb jam is on july 4th isn't it......so if we go to jam,can we get one alpha device?
NOTE:I HAVE 2 APPS ON BB APPWORLD.i am in kerala, maybe i will be coming to delhi
for bb 10 jam.....please reply
RIM is betting everything on BB 10, since the last couple of years they have been really quiet and releasing devices that are nothing to get exited, the hardware has been top quality but boring OS, by giving developers test devices they are trying to get developers on their side and work on their platform, it is strange how things work out guess that what makes an OS successful is the community that is behind it, I really loved web OS but never took off for a lot of reasons, so let's wait and see only time will tell if BB10 is a winner or not.....noob comment
That mock-up looks A LOT like an iPhone; just saying, first thing that came to mind. Anyway, seems like it has potential for people who want something that's clean and functional. I'm curious at least. Looks pretty decent. Not anything I'd pick up because it will just never have the customization abilities of Android, but might be something I'd recommend to friends, something I still can't really say for WP or Apple to some extent.
let's make this tread active,I have one dev alpha

That mock-up looks A LOT like an iPhone; just saying, first thing that came to mind. Anyway, seems like it has potential for people who want something that's clean and functional. I'm curious at least. Looks pretty decent. Not anything I'd pick up because it will just never have the customization abilities of Android, but might be something I'd recommend to friends, something I still can't really say for WP or Apple to some extent.

Ok, I was one of the lucky guys that received my Nexus 4 yesterday! Since a lot of you guys will be waiting for a bit and may be tempted to purchase another phone I am going to do some short videos on stuff you want to see. There are alot of "unboxing" videos and they are all really rubbish. Please list out things you want to see below!
Check out the videos below then submit your requests!
Battery after a day. (small spikes are due to uploading video to my PC)

Benchmarks NEEDED quickly
DETAILED BENCHMARKS
Please makae a video showing the various benchmarks
and also please make a video about Gaming Performance make a video of some really graphic intensive big games PLEASE
any heating issues or lag
1).Test the USB OTG with a pendrive of 16 gb or more as we will require this feature as N4 doesnot have microsd card slot.
2). I have heard that the colours on N4 are dull n luk washed off so please compare it with same content running on both phone.
3).I have also heard that the back is made up of glass and it wont allow any heat to pass thorugh it so please check whether the phone gets hot during benchmark or playing hardcore games for 20-30 mins.
4).how are the camera samples of N4 the colours, noise, low lighting conditions, moving objects, other basic stuff.
5).How long does the phone last on average usage.
6).Tell us how long does it take to charge the phone.
7).One more important thing which other reviewers dont mention also tell us about the call quality and vibration after all its a mobile phone.
8).Also test the sound quality
9).tell us any other problem or lag that you are facing.
it would be really nice if you can make a video or answer theese questions PLEASE BE QUICK
First of all, thanks for the video. Try to plan it out better next time though, so you don't say "ummm" a lot. Still a great video though, and I appreciate the effort
As far as things that I would like to see:
1) Can you please a get a really good close up of the screen/bezel border on the front? I want to know if there's as big of a gap as the Gnex
2) Open up settings, and get a closeup of the background (preferably in a dark room). I wanna know if they fixed that stupid gradient issue in 4.2, and if LCD vs. AMOLED might make it less obvious.
Thanks

I will work on these. But guys I'm not doing benchmarks..... there are some pretty good ones already done and I don't see that as being something I can do in a video.
It's fantastic, thanks man.
do you have an S3 handy? Wouldn't mind seeing an HONEST opinion about the screen differences between a Samoled screen vs this one.. if not then that's cool too thanks for doing this!
Screen Sensitivity
Hi, appreciate the effort you're putting in friend.
1 thing I can think of now that I'm quite curious about is the screen senstitivity of the phone.
Can you do the following please?:
1. (If you haven't already) Go to Settings > Options > About Phone > Tap 'Build Number' a few times till you turn developer options on.
2. Open developer options and turn on the 'Pointer Location' option.
3. Keep an eye on the 'Prs' value at the top of the screen and make as light a touch as possible around the screen. Record the lowest value you can get.
Can you also try and input text at a rapid pace and see how successful it is?
The reason behind all this is that there have been some reports of very poor screen sensitivity on the phone meaning that higher pressure is needed for the phone to register a touch.
Would it be possible for you to make a comparison to another android phone? Galaxy S'x' or a the Galaxy Nexus (if you own one)?
There's a thread in the Q/A forum where people are discussing this but I'm not able to post links yet. It's quite worrying.
Thanks
THANK YOU, SIR! That second video was great!
Also, you're in the UK? You don't have a British accent.
Edit: People need to thank OP for his efforts!
Does it rattle? and what do you think is causing the rattle ?
Camera options and HDR mode preview on video, also sound quality (loud or not)

Color Shift
Thanks for the video....
All LCDs have color shift at angles... can we see a quick vid of the phone at some normal then exaggerated angles ?
Thanks :good:
Ok, got a few more videos up in the first post! Enjoy
P.S got to go to work soon be back later today with the battery update!
Your last video isn't showing up still. Says unavailable (still processing). Is Google gonna start failing at video delivery too?
Danny80y, can you spin it on your index finger, please?

Ahaha I kid. I kid.
Actually all we want to know are three things...
1. does it rattle
2. is there a touch sensitivity problem.
3 and does an intensive game get even slightly laggier the longer its played.
If none of these issues exist..we would be VERY VERY HAPPY...Please reply.
