Okay,
so I have had the Motorola XT860 for about 2 months, maybe more. The other day the images on m.Facebook.com became broken, thought it was the site, so I ignored it. Than seen the same thing happen to a few other sites and realized it was a browser issue. No worries, so I downloaded a few other browsers; the dolphin HD one - same thing happened on it..So I tried Firefox/Opera/a few others and they weren't loading the same mobile version as the one for android pops up. Became frustrated than took out the battery to find out it didn't help.
So I became frustrated and start researching it(and found out NO one was having this same issue?!).. so after much debate I restarted (wiped) my device, loaded it from scratch to find out the same friggen issue is happening. My moto is stock, no rooting(yet); butt don't have a computer til Saturday. So how can I fix this issue now? How do I reload the browser? my phone is working fine.. just not the browser.
PS: so it seems like transparent images(PNG?) are not loading correctly.. it either shows the image with a black background or the image shows transparent while the background is greyed out. Its hard to explain but, I really need to fix this. If this can't be fixed I'll just swap it out for the galaxy nexus...cause this is beyond annoying..
I have a wiped phone with NO saved contacts, msgs, or apps! what's up with that???
Is the broken image thing related to flash content? How is your youtube in-browser player working?
This sounds very similar to the problem I was having with my first XT860. I had some hard time with Motorola but finally they fixed it (I got replacement phone).
Here are pics from mine to compare:
image1: http://i39.tinypic.com/2vcj8ds.jpg
image2: http://i41.tinypic.com/iypxxw.jpg
first image is http://www.speedtest.net/mini.php - the flash 9 applet to perform speed test and second image is in-browser youtube player. See how controls are garbled, some content like banners/etc on the video is garbled too.
If yours does the same - go have it exchanged (mine took 3 times sending in before they actually recognized there is a problem)
Try going to the market, menu>my apps and scroll down untilyou find the flash player. Select it and see if there is an update. I had an issue with videos in the browser looking kinda like that. For some reason it notify me there was an update. 11.0.1.153 is the current version

Problem appeared right after hard reset with pre-installed Adobe flash. Updating it to 11 actually made the effect worse - instead random color scrambled dots and lines I was getting black boxes.
Motorola repair centre initially didn't see the problem as it was prominent only on flash content, but after I wrote a detailed explanation what the problem is, they sent me a new phone.

The problem is visible even with a decent browser like opera mobile or is limited to the stupid default browser ?

Not to derail the thread, but the last time I used Opera it wouldn't even reflow the text when you zoomed in. Pretty craptastic, unless they've fixed it up.
maybe opera 1 for win 3.11...

Lol no, for android about 5 months ago.
For me the problem was with all browsers. Not sure about OP, he seems abandoned the thread.

Nope still here, having a rough time. How do I do a *clean* install? I wiped the phone 3 times over and its still ****ty. This is a cross browser issue, dolphin HD and the stock android browser had the same issue, same goes for other browsers like opera, Firefox, etc but not AS visible..but still there. So how do I wipe this phone from scratch? The whole phone seems sluggish now and the keyboard all of a sudden is causing typos, or if I hit backspace it'll keep removing everything all of a sudden. I don't know what's happening or why, but for Motorola - if this isn't fixed I'm going to the 4.5" amoled plus Samsung galaxy s2.. this is just stupid and a waste of my time.
So what is the easiest and fastest way to do a real "fresh" install..I'm a noob when it comes to androids..BB is a different story..

Since the xt860 has no sbf you can't really do a fresh install afaik. The keyboard thing is a common issue, it was fixed on D3's with the 5.6.890 update. I have the same problem with "m" "b" and the spacebar. I would say get a replacement

Install from scratch is done with the full SBFs, that afaik are not available yet.
BTW an install with a service sbf followed by a wipe should be equivalent.

But when you know what to search google (or the search button) can help a lot...
BTW have you tried to do a full wipe (from the privacy menu ?)
Since there is no SBF, you've got no much choice. Contact Motorola support or a Bell support if you are with them and have the phone serviced. They will likely give you a new phone.

Sbf stands for software backup file or something similar. Google is your friend
I'm by no means an expert but this is how I understand it
Sbf is basically a copy of the phones original firmware. Resets your phone to out of the box new. A factory reset doesn't actually wipe all the partitions, just the ones you as a end user are able to modify(unrooted of course). If there's a problem with a root level file factory reset won't fix it.
If I got any part of that wrong anyone feel free to correct me

Which is why messing around as a root user without an sbf is risky

Hello, I am in need of a little help. I am a complete noob to android and have no idea really how the system works. I have a Samsung Galaxy S and have decided to root my phone for 2 reasons.. ap2sd and so I can install the lag fix. I have done a bit of reading and chosen the path I wish to take but would like some assurance and pointers. I am also unsure of: If I root my phone does this automatically mean that with a properly partitioned sd card that I can store apps 2 sd or do I still need to flash the handset with a new ROM and if so there I am stuck... I do not know where to begin with searching for the best ROM for me. Also I would like to know if after i've done this will the handset still be able to receive the official updates or will I just need to keep updating it myself!
Here is the rundown as far as i have got so far...
Samsung Galaxy S I9000/XXJF3 Updated!
All the programs for XP i need are downloaded (eg.net3.5/4, samsung drivers)
The root method I thought was best for me was that of TGA_Gunman
The lag fix I had chosen is by Chainfire
I have still to back up the original ROM with ClockWorkMod (Is this easy to do and if I need to use it will it bring me completely back to my original settings for warranty purposes, or is there other things I would need to do?)
Also could someone provide me with a link to the best noob proof SD partitioning method!!
Is there anything I'm missing here, or anything that could be done a better way!! Any and all pointers will be much appreciated....
P.s. I would be wanting to update to the official froyo update when it's available will this cause me problems and if so what must I do!
Thanks in advance
ANDROID NOOB
rooting the phone is safe, and it will not cause any damage to the phone.
but stuff that you install after you root your phone, or modifications and customization changes that you do, might brick the phone, is not done properly (that's the worse case scenario), normally it will just get stuck in a black screen, or endless loop.
All that can be easily fixed using the 3 button Recovery Mode, or 3 button Download mode as posted in the Wiki
I'll suggest you to try the phone rooted but stock with whatever firmware you choose to run.
use the "Lag Fix" only if you really feel the phone sloppy.
I've been using my phone from day one to now without the "Lag Fix" because i've not experience any lag at all.
However I do install Apps to the external SD card, as i want to keep my internal SD as free as possible.
the best link for the Lag Fix & SD card partitioning is the sticky here

Thanks... I understand the risks. Bricked my windows omnia twice before I successfully managed to de-brand and update it!! lol... As to what you said about rooting it and staying with whatever firmware I choose? I wouldn't know which one to use. Normally I wouldnt bother with it all but the lag on my phone now is silly, 5sec pauses on black screens. I end up having to kill my inactive apps once or twice a day just to get some usability from it (which I'm not supposed to need to do)..... So with that in mind is there a firmware that is running better that XXJF3.... Also if flashing a new ROM will be more advantageous and easier I am willing to take that route. I had a look at the link you gave for the lag fix... but being honest I feel that is a bit much for me at this moment... there are many one click lag fixes out there that don't intimidate me so much, is there not a reliable one?... The reason the lag fix you posted scares me is that I dont really understand half of whats being said and am not to sure of the process (if i'm honest it's not explained simple enough for idiots like me) Also dont even know what a busybox is let alone have one, The one click options have them in the package. Sorry, I am so dumb and need the easy route!! LOL.... A Step by step dummies guide would be much appreciated.. LOL! But honestly The more I read the more it all confuses me.....
Anxiously waiting any help possible!!... if it's possible!

hmm.. then i'll suggest the "one click lag fix v2" in the developers forum.
that's the easiest way to get it going.
for the I9000 version JM1 seems to be the most stable ROM
I ma be following this thread as I am a noob as well
Thanks to the patient experts here!!!

Read some more into the problems with the lag fixes and now see why you were trying to steer me away.... Still way to many bugs for my liking!! I think for now its best like you said to just root and flash a better firmware... But how do I do this, correct me if im wrong:
1. Root phone via TGA_Gunman method
2. Back up phone using clockworkmod
3. download new firmware from samsung firmwares
4. put downloaded firmware onto root folder of internal SD
5. shut down phone then put the phone into download mode (Using the 3 buttons)
6. select the update.... then wait it out!!
Am I missing anything ???
As I side point I called the european samsung office today to ask if there was going to be a fix for the lag in the next month, or is it just the GPS it's concerned with... Samsungs response.... "There wasnt a problem with lag on the phone as far as we knew... You're the first person to complain of it... It has to be a problem with your handset"... Needless to say the conversation went no futrther, or I'd have lost the plot! LOL...

Yeah I've had the same... The longer the phone is in use the slower mine gets... I'm not leaving apps in the background either... It seems as if it just piles and piles inactive apps into the memory then goes slow!! I cancel the inactive ones and It's fast for a while then BOOM!.. slow again, 5/10 screen lag! unreal they're sayin they know nothing! Just hoping that a new firmware will make it better as the lag fixes look way too buggy still! Good luck with yours.. let me know if you find out any better roots/routes to fix the dam thing!
i'll disagree with the lag
i'm still using the stock ROM on mine, and i don't experience the lags some people are having.
i can browse fast, switch apps fast, play audio/video fast, launch GPS app fast, and get a lock fast even when the car is moving on the road already
i do leave stuff like Fring running in the backgroup for my IM and video calls, meanwhile the music player plays via Bluetooth to the car Deck or BT headphones, and using GPS to check my route for speed, traffic jam, etc.
email is constantly syncing, set to auto sync every hour
if i want to check the weather it loads up instantly
using stock JH2 ROM

As far as im aware you cant install a firmware using the update.zip method? this is more for custom roms and other modifications over the top of an already installed firmware?
you want to open up Odin3 and connect your phone ones in download mode, use this to flash the PDA file in your firmware pack
Using JG4. No lag. None zilch wham. I have seen the lag first hand at a local store.
I will not be installing a lag fix until I understand what they are doing so I don't be a tard (brick my phone).

I'm fine up to the point of flashing the formware could you or someone please explain in a bit more detail what ODIN3 is, how it works and what i'm gonna need and what I need to do!! Sorry to be asking so much, but better I ask and get it right than ask for more help on how to unbrick my phone ...LOL
Is it an android program or somethin I put on my PC... also is there anything I would need to do to the phone other than the root!!
EDIT: Why o why do I need to use odin3... From what i'e read all that does is send it back to original settings and firmware... WHICH I HAVE!! I have not even rooted the phone yet, I am gathering enough info before I even begin!!
So back to the point in hand.... I will root my phone back up the ROM with clockworkmod!!
After this I am stuck as to how I flash it with a different firmware one that is more stable and maybe not having issues with lag!!
Which firmware should I pick and how do I get it flashed onto the device!
PLEASE HELP! I need to try something to get rid of this lag it's unbearable! I'm now wondering if there maybe is something wrong with the handset as the lag is really not to be expected 10secs to switch an app... and i've only added bout 15 apps so its not as if I'm expecting alot from the thing!
before you go all the way and do all those Mod to make the phone faster
lets try something more simple and safer to get rid of that LAG problem (10 sec is definitely too much)
go to the phone dial pad
and dial this number
*2767*3855#
Then give us an update if the phone goes back to normal speed.

did that played with the phone a little a began to see the lag creep up on me again (I am beginning to think this is a problem with memory more than anything, it just keeps loading inactive apps into the memory till it's full) .... Ran quadrant and had a score of 856 although this means not alot to me... what is the norm... and why does that seem slow.... it is after all a 1ghz processor.....
awaiting any ideas/responses.... maybe I am just being too fussy!!!
While i'm still thinking bout what to do... Anybody got any thoughts on the APK ryanZA has released on the market place.. one click root and lagfix!! some comments that it does nothing and some sayin its runnin quadrant scores over 2k....
IS IT ONLY FOR CAPTIVATE/VIBRANT or will it work with european models???????
if it's slow like 10 sec lag even on stock.... i'll definitely return the phone to exchange for another unit.
it should respond immediately, like in 1 sec

If all else fails wait for the official froyo release and apply it myself with odin!...
thanks for the help!
question for you.
did you install any software that will log your activities?
i just recently installed a network logging app, to see how much 3G /2G/GPRS data i'm using, and i noticed the seldom lags
as soon as i uninstalled that particular software, the stock JH2 ROM runs fast as usual again.
i still have all kind of other apps running in the background like IM, fring, and many other online stuff running continously without any lag

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I had my nook rooted, market, youtube and gingerbread keyboard installed and working. different boot screen flashed. i plugged it in to my pc here at work to charge. when i unplugged it, it was at the startup screen with the android. The old boot screen is back. All apps are removed. it appears to still be rooted, but I cant bring up keyboard at all. All my apps and everything I installed are gone. I don't understand what happened to it. Any one have any idea? Thanks!
A wizard did it.
Seriously others have reported similar anomalies The thing to do is wipe and start over. I suggest you get titanium back up so you don't have to completely start over next time.
I figured thats what I would have to do. I don't think i would have needed to, had I not installed the gingerboard keyboard. I was just wondering if anyoen else experienced, perhaps we could pinpoint the problem and figure out what to do to avoid it. Worse part is some one wanted to see it after I told them not to waste thier money on an ipad, they come over and it doesnt work at all. Well it worked, but just as an e-reader, bleh who bought it for that, lol.

Dropbox works very well indeed. Awesome Drop is also very good. While it offers no online storage, it doesn't require an account either. However, neither wanted to work without an External SD card. Haven't looked into they wouldn't use the internal storage. Anyone know?
Possibly it updated to 1.01? Mine was act a little strange, then all of a sudden it updated to 1.01 (even with the script in place to disable over the air updates).
I also had some sporadic reboots. Just re-rooted after the 1.01 update and it seems more stable. I also installed an uptime widget to monitor and it's been up now for 11h 30m..
In a couple more weeks it won't matter as the 2.3 build continues to progress..

Another data point: got my Nook Color December 25. It was version 1.0.0. Updated to 1.0.1 and rooted with auto-nooter-2.12.25 on December 26. All went well (including using the Shop, though I didn't buy anything) until last night. Entered the shop and got the infamous "authentication problem" message, after which my nook reset itself. When it was finished, the green 'n' icon in the lower left was on (which is odd, since it appears to have updated from 1.0.1 to 1.0.1).
When the dust had settled, the device was still rooted (I still have Market, still have NookColor Tools, still have SuperUser), but everything I'd put on since rooting was gone, and all my settings (wifi key, barnes and noble account, gmail account) were gone.
I'm reasonably familiar with linux (though only a little bit specifically with android), so I'll be happy to poke around to see if I can find anything....
Possible reason?

No, that would be 1.0.1. Android Police tend to be late on the uptick on real news, and make up the rest...
It seems like most of people dont have the ghost call issue of gingerbread update. If not they haven't figured it out as it doesn't occur always. I checked it with my home phone. I made 10 calls and 3 of them were ghost calls.
There problem is with the baseband according to my knowledge.
Do we have to wait for the next update to overcome this problem.?
If we did, there'd be a thread about it.
Please use the search function next time.

I feel bad for all you people having ghost call issues. I would say for anyone having them to take it to your store you got it and demand a different one. I have tried all the gb kdz's and never once had ghost call issues. It might be a problem specific to individual devices being not everyone has them. And it seems like the people who haven't had GC once, haven't had them ever.
And so I have spoken it.. and so it shall be.
ahh :-( :-(
that means we are not going to receive and GC fixing update in the future. Unfortunatly im outside US and will not be able to go to any store.. :-( :-( :-(
Factory resetting (from the menu and also all options in recovery menu) before and after reinstalling GB did the trick for me. Didn't notice any GCs after that and never got complaints from family anymore. I was on my countries official GB though. When I was trying to use Rogers nothing could have stopped GCs for me.
Im on the at&t baseband. Factory resetting it didn't work for me.

I removed the mem card, formatted internal mem card 3x, factory reset phone from settings 3x, boot phone into recovery mode and performed all wipes 3x, than installed GB on this completely blank slate, than did all that again before using it. I believe I did have 1 GC instance after that, I don't remember for sure if it was before or after I did all that, but than for at least 5 weeks I whenever I noticed white signal bars I dialed a number and sent myself a text. They always worked fine and I never got the RIP message. Also no one ever had trouble getting a hold of me or mentioned that they couldn't, and my wife is very vocal about that. That's how I knew I was having so many problems before the final straw that forced me to try all that. Either way I've now jumped ship and an happily using an iPhone 4S. Sure I miss my custom keyboads and stuff but my phone finally works smooth as silk and I never have to worry about it again.

I've never done this before (did it a few times with old omnia i900 and WP6.5, never android) so I need as much help and advice you can give me
I know I need Odin, Kies, a rom and a kernel(??) and drivers. Found all the links from the video /watch?v=bd1zwH2-kX0
If there's a video on youtube showing everything that has good quality you can just redirect me there.
Anyways, my mom uses this phone so I need it to have as much battery life and ease of access possible so which ROMs do you recommend?
I also need to know what I need to have to flash the phone (USB cable and something else software wise, maybe) and what are the risks of flashing it. The reason I'm flashing it is because it feels slow for some reason and it keeps vibrating all the time. Does it need an sdcard because I don't have one.
Sorry if I violated some rules posting this. Thanks.
strange to see you struggle with the same phone as i am the same day on an old phone like this, im trying to get google play to work on it, but it seems the custom backup installed rom is just messed up, google play just give blank screens or some weird errors, the internet and other things work, but https also messed up on some pages, and the date is set correctly =/ which is what usually is wrong on my pc when https is messed up
so im also looking for advice on a custom rom, the lighter its on resources the better, is it also possible to use ROEHSOFT_RAM_Expander on this phone? is the kernel limit of swap ram a software thing or a hardware think?

Yes. I also have same problems, white screen for play store or errors saying it crashed or no connection. I think a different ROM would solve all these problems. You can try Cyanogenmod.

yes tried the one on http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...samsung-galaxy-pocket-gt-s5300-t3033992/page3 and messed up phone boot, the steps are not very clear on that link, will try whatever i can today, else hammer the phone and buy the kid a new one, not going to be stingy with the kid or waste a lot of time on the phone, but i was trying to ditch the throw away economy, and forcing the kid to buy his own phone that way he appreciates what he have a lot more.
Edit:
flashed back sucessfully with oddin and this post files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560314
will fight the trow away economy later today.

I like fixing and troubleshooting stuff more. But only if it's mine and I don't have much to lose. You might've missed to root the phone.

it was rooted i think i used this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365697, and Superuser app was installed after that process so it seems it was rooted, i used airdroid screen cap function to test because that one ask superuser permission and it worked after the root
I got whatsapp and airdoid working without google play but really want google play to work, did you try Cyanogenmod or are you scared to mess up the phone?

I haven't tried anything today. My mom just got the phone today so I don't really want to brick/mess something up.
I tried only installing few apps like Facebook, Opera, Chrome, FB Messenger and Viber. Some worked right away, for some I had to download different apks because play store doesn't work. I haven't even tried rooting it. It could be rooted using kingoroot, I might try it.
I noticed that play store works only when you want to update an app. It didn't crash when it redirected me to YT app and FB app update.

i installed kitkat4.4 from this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtYI91-S8Tk
google play worked until it updated then the blanck screen stuff started to happen all over again, but at least the kitkat version does not eat up all the internal storage like the rom i had from stock, so it only uses 20% vs 80% 90% so for that reason ill keep it until i see a better alternative on the forum, may play with it again but out of time.

Did you do everything like from the video or did you do something that is usual thing to do before flashing that a noob like me would miss?
Have you tried flashing it again but this time without updating the app?
Also did you use sdcard for this or via usb on PC?
this is the way to go for me, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698533 this one works wonderfully
it has chrome and flash working, it also works as smooth as silk vs the stock or the kitkat 4.4 roms, so don't waste your time and trying to get the other ones working.
let me know how it goes.
Edit: replaced old post to avoid more headaches old post in quotes
1- ! meesed up the phone the first time then i fixed it with oddin and the files here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2560314
2-then installed using the youtube video as a guide, i didn't do as the description said but rather did exactly what i saw in the video, the guy dees a bad jobin the description, he mentions step (5 - Select the vM00CWMv3f) but in the video he never touches it, so dont search for it or download it just ignore that step or do exacly as the video, use J K L to play pause advance or back the video and make sure you mirror him xD
if you do the odding thing your phone will be like the default mode, unrooted and so but no need to root it to install the rom of the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtYI91-S8Tk
PD : google play is still a messy mess with its blank screen with the kitkat version of the video , i uninstall/downgrade google_play_services and the google_play_store, then i open google play and accept the termns and install my intended app with the old google store, then google updates an installs its bugged app all over again without me wanting, then i go uninstall or downgrade the two apps all over again and install my next app with the old google play, its morroning all afternoon already ^_^
wasn't technology supposed to make life easier?
so where did you get stuck? no one of the experts will recommend a rom? T_T
PD2: did not use an external sdcard, only the internal, and i used the usb cable with the oddin program, then after the odding ting, i did use the cable to upload files to the root, then i did what the video shows without cables or rooting
ive send a pm with my whatsapp and skype hit me there if you still strugle, im online 4 t o5 more hours

Why is the notification bar no the bottom on the CM7 one you sent?
Thanks for helping me out. I might try today flashing it but still without sdcard.
BTW if you try flashing it again you might try recording it with an HD camera to see the full process on how to do it. I could also edit it and add annotations and you could post it to youtube if you want. If you do that please make sure it's bright enough in the room

Edit = PD:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074054 (for this one let it restart after install and let it boot to the system, then shut it down after you selected language and entered home screen, then boot recovery again and install the update file)
if you don't have stock rom or if the installation goes bad, or the installed rom does not work properly, then Restore Stock ROM/Unbrick, and then try again, i found that doing this step before trying a new rom is the best, else wifi or other tings fail. here is the Restore Stock ROM/Unbrick thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560314
just show your mom this forum thread before you try anything with her device, remember i was ok with hammering my device, so i didn't care if i killed it, but it works very nice with any of those rom, the guys that worked on those know their stuff!!, and is probably worth the effort flashing the device, also leave your sim chip in when doing the rom flashing, it seems the provider sends the configuration automatically to the device when it starts the new installed rom, if not then be prepared to search the internet for the apn settings of your cellphone company or to call them and ask.
I know the APN settings for my provider. My mom doesn't speak english so it would look like chinese for her.
Thanks for all the links. She doesn't seem to have too much problems right now. Did installing these ROMs make your vibrating to stop?

this phones vibration is dead, and it didn't get it working with any of the roms I've tried, so wont be able to answer you on that, this phones google play didn't work, not even with the stock rom, so that is why i started to flash it with the downloadable roms on this forum. Hyperion and the KitKat Smart R2 roms are really nice roms, i would say for a woman/girl use the 'KitKat Smart R2' rom and for a man/boy use the hyperion, the hyperion have a more drone electronic type theme, the phone will say with a robotic voice "ill be back" when you shut it down ^_^
lol @ hyperion.
It should say "get to the choppa"
Thanks for every advice if my mom decides the software is unbearable on the phone I will flash it.
Does play store work on hyperion/kitkat smart s2?

You need to give more details bud. We are not mediums here.
Which version of the phone do you have? Where did you buy it? Rooted, non-rooted? What weird things, other than taking screenshots? How exactly do you understand that it is taking screenshots, does it give you a notification or do they just appear in the gallery? How often does it happen, is it random or does it also happen when you do certain tasks?
If you need help with such a potentially complicated issue, you need to give as many details as possible so people can help you without guessing everything.
On Android 9 and above it's almost impossible to have an embedded rootkit that a factory reset won't kill. On 8 and below it is.
So it's something you installed (including updates), or that's living in your data or one of the factory installed apps. Fun times

That's complete overkill. More than likely a factory reset is all that's needed... and greater care when downloading.
Pre-Pie OS's are susceptible to rootkits that can breached protected partitions but not the more modern Android versions if I remember correctly.
This is an example of one that requires a reflash to totally wipe it from the phone:

I disagree, tot overkill at all if its a persistent malware. Plus if you want peace of mind it is about as simple of a process as loading the factory ROM. Why take a risk?
OP hasn't checked into this thread after the initial message. Maybe the issue has been solved.
I think we can stop trying to break our heads until he/she reappears and joins the conversation.

Be prepared and never sync all your backup copies at the same time, stagger the syncing to help avoid the possibility of all copies being compromised.

When I typed that original post I was using the phone and the keyboard kept screwing up and I was exhausted. I have factory reset the phone. The strange things that were happening like when I'd hit my recent apps tab at the bottom, if open say Ebay app then Chrome. I'd hit the recent and it would show gallery and settings. Since the factory reset it has still been taking screenshots. I've only had this phone about 20 days and got it at bestbuy. It's over the 15 day period to just take it back but hadn't been incredibly long so I guess we will see what they say. I dont do alot of app downloading or visit a bunch of websites and so on so I have no clue how this happened. Here's the real kicker, this stuff is also happening on my wife's phone (a11) I am honestly thinking about throwing the a11 in the trash and trying to get this one replaced. It's so damn frustrating it's caused arguments because I'm the one who will spend time learning how to do stuff with this. Like how to use everything the phone is capable of and can look in the settings and see that the "tracking device" in the settings that can UNLOCK YOUR PHONE, ACCESS YOUR CONTACTS" is the find my phone app that you installed from Samsung. So of course I am a "hacker" and really know nothing about this crap. And she's the person who will download every survey and shopping app she can find. So this is where I am with it idk what else to do.

Try something bud, in the settings there is the palm swipe capture option. When you find it try and disable it and see if the issue persists. If your phone has no virus, it might have some issue with the gestures or the screen and it might be getting mistaken that you are trying to make a screenshot.
And regarding your wife, you gotta sit her down, smash on the table with your hand so you can get her attention for a bit, and show her some videos about security and the risks involved with ignorant behaviors in the digital world.
Good luck.

I have the palm swipe off. She reset hers and says it's still doing "weird stuff" but this has been such an extreme issue with us that I can't and won't touch her phone. Because even with her sitting there watching me if I'm going through **** too fast for her to see exactly what's happening it's like I'm asked to slow down and I try to... Then she's will be like well what's this and start touching **** on the screen and u lost where I was in the first place because I then have to explain something that was just there.. Like if I'm in running processes and it's like WHATS THAT. And it will be a system operation that she read somewhere is "a concern for vulnerability" and doesn't understand that it doesn't mean that because that's there that it's a problem.. It's there normally and it is possible that's a way for security to be compromised.. Hopefully you can see the pattern I'm going in..... I am pretty good with this stuff for a power user. I know what oden is.. I know what a ROM is and stuff but I have never actually loaded my own ROM on a phone. And the fact that I sort of understand some of this is working to a huge disadvantage because it's like.. Well you know how to do this stuff so no wonder she's concerned.. When in fact I don't know how to do this stuff.. I made (foolishly) the comment when I was showing a process used by find my phone to her and my sister... The fact that I just showed you this process running that your asking me about you're just viewing it in a different place shows that if I wanted to track you I'd do it and you'd be too stupid to ever find out... And it was just frustration.. I meant Id just look at your Google history or something along that mannor.. Anyways I'm gonna be heading to bestbuy to see what they say.. As far as her phone is concerned I'd rather just spend the 200 bucks and throw it in the trash. I can't do that with the s21 so this is where I am with all this. I wad actually told by my family not to worry about it.. So what if someone steals your bank info it will be fraud and you won't be responsible for it anyway.. So just forget about it and use it....and here I am
This isn't rocket science... or a soap opera
Do a factory reset then change your Google account password.
Don't load anything until it's verified to be functioning ok*.
Then be careful what you load.
*If that fails reflash the firmware.
