[Q] Time works system on battery - XPERIA X1 Android Development

hello, i will buy X1 and i have a question, how long x1 work on battery in android? Same in Touch Pro?

uhm, forget android on the x1. read a bit in the rom-threads, you'll see it's kernel that's the main-problem.
dunno why you think it's an option. batt-life is the last of your problems...

i happen to use my android on my x1 daily if your read the forums and accept the issues then so be it
you will get about 10-12 hours max with doing/using nothing

he's talking about buying the x1. do you really wanna tell him he can run android on it just fine?! and your last sentence... "10-12 hrs doing nothing"?! how can you talk about "using it every day" then? that's not using it, that's leaving it at home and use another phone instead. and you still have to charge it twice a day. ^^

how problems is with android on X1?

Honestly, I love my X1 so much ... it's a good phone and I can't afford a new one and thanks to the amazing devs here on the forum we are able to run android ... but we have a few issues ... I use Android some days for a full day ... I run the SenseDroid and it works with for about 12 hours using the phone and 12 hour left for nothing takes 30 % of the battery ...
my advice is ... get an original android if you can afford it ... it'll be more native to it ... but if u can't get the X1 and here they are close to making a NAND version but there are still some issues
so, in conclusion, if u have the money for android, get it ... if u can't the X1 is a great phone with good specs ...

Diamond is probably the worst phone I ever used

Its slow, its buggy, the battery life is non-existent.
I haven't tried the cooked roms yet, but out of the box, with nothing installed.... its almost unusable, and I already had it for 3 weeks.
Pretty pathetic for a $800 phone.
Talk about speaking your mind
I do not own a Diamond device however i can tell you (with respect to ANY HTC device) that the ROM that it comes with is not the ROM you want to keep. Look into flashing and you should have a much more pleasing time with a vigorous device.
How odd.
I have mine for about 3 weeks now, batterylife is now about 3 days including 3G browsing, using TomTom, calling etc. (improved a lot since day 1, when it only last for 1 day)
Interface is very fast, its only slow when I close Opera after browsing for about 5 seconds, after that performs fast again.
It is running a cooked ROM though.
Very useful thread... one of many.
With some tweaks the HTC performs well. Even the battery.

True, but my Prophet and Trinity were not anywhere close to the level of "suck" that this phone comes to.

Keep your elitist **** to your self, pidoras.
That was an example of the poor performance of the phone. My Trinity could do 4 hours, and it wouldn't even drain he phone that much.
It's just not performing poor.
Just installed HTC's own new 1.37 rom ... and see, it's a almost full functional device!
Fast, no lags (it's not a 3300 nokia!!) lots of usability, navigating, mailing, exchange, foto's, sound, browsing, the whole bunch in my pocket.
A lot of these topics, but I am glad i bought one
I must say battery life is very poor in music playback with set of stereo bluetooth hedphones, i get about 3 hrs max just using music and no phone calling etc. it seems to me that when the battery gets to the last 2 bars it doesnt last long at all. im on the latest rom, phone calling/sat nav and surfing via 3g doesnt seem to be that much of a problem to me battery wise. Ill be picking up the extended battery, i wouldnt swap this phone for any other though!

Just had a nice time reporting you (c)
Besides, he was right.. The phone is not as bad as you said, the things you said just prove that you don't know how to use it to it's potential, that's all...
Yes, I don't own a Diamond (waiting for the Pro), but from what I can see on this forum, for each 10 whining people, there are 50 or more who love the phone after tweaking it for themselves..
The topics like this are pretty much useless, as the only thing they contain is whining, but don't actually give anything useful
My regards..
P.S. You are russian, aren't you?
This is the best phone I ever used
With the reg tweaks here from the wiki the battery lasts about 2 days - I can live with that (remembering my "old" PDAs where battery lasts not a half day *ggg*). We wanted it full featured and slim - so we habe to live with this "battery issue".
But I ordered the extended battry from HTC yesterday - just in case

IMO A2DP is going to drain the battery of any phone?
Whats battery life like on core player with corded headphones?
The rom that came with it (for most people) is slowwww.
A rush to get the phone out i think, but i think alot of people would have made that compramise - have the phone 3 weeks ago with a slow rom and be able to upgrade it around now.
Check the roms section you can find the official rom updates for each region there. You don't need to do any hard SPL modifications to use those, and therefore shouldnt affect your waranty. I would suggest that first.
Flaming is just pointless, and alot of people had the same thoughts at 1 point, i know i did!
I'm looking to get a Diamond and TBH find threads like this useful. I know its a Marmite kinda thing (love it or hate it) but it gives a indication of what the phone is like.
I want a Daimond and wil lsoon be getting one from Orange (£230 NON CONTRACT!!) and want as many users feelings for the phone as possible.
If he said the phone was one of the best ever made you wouldn't slate him and degrade him....so why do it otherwise???
Afterall its a Forum and peoples opinions are their own! Forums wouldn't exist otherwise!

Thats a good price. If you dont mind me asking, how are you getting it for £230 Non Contract?
I have to say this is probably the most ocvered topic for every single HTC out there, I have had almost all production releases and everytime someone always states its the worst phone ever! truely this can't be the case.
There are phones that have been much worse and this is a PDA with lots of extras that why you pay more oh and the fact you purchased it so early. give it a chance with a newer rom.

Flashoholics Anonymous

Hello, my name is Ammi and I'm a flashoholic
I flashed my phone three times this week and I couldn't stop myself.
Just stood there and saw my phone get flashed time and time again.
Even found a handy little script which made the flashing so much easier
It made me flash without guilt;
"No harm done" I would say
"Just takes a few minutes" I would knowingly lie to myself,
fully aware that I would stay awake that night tweaking and customizing
I always think the next flash will be my last,
will this finally quench my thirst for a smooth flowing, fast pacing, beautiful looking customizable ROM?
"NO"
Just doesn't feel right..
I want to help others that suffer from the same condition as me.
Let us join forces and let our stories be heared!
I'll start by attaching the file that saved me precious time.
Just put all your cabs you normally install after a flash in the MyCab folder
and start the script.
It utilizes Mortscript to install your cabs silently.
You put the cabs that need prompts in the folder Cab.
The cabs that don't need prompts are put in MyCab.
It will not launch after every soft reset
It will, however, launch after reentering your SDcard.
And by launch, I mean a pop-up asking to begin or not.
I highly recommend it!
It installs everything silently and smoothly
As I got in my signature... I've changed too many times LOOL... just like you I'm not completely satisfied so I change it again and again... waiting for the best... That's just in one of my phones, the other one is stable with Generic R2A... happy, but with this i'm experimenting greatness
thanks i'll have to try it next time I flash

nooooooooooooo i'm tryin to kick the habit lol
so whats the threshold to join the club. im averaging about 1 flash every 8 days but that may change with the increased number of good cookers in this forum
Neither do I could stop. Nearly 3 times per day in average.
The problem is, after every flash I will try to change the settings manually and get everything works fine, before I found another rom that makes me wanna give a try. Therefore all works and times has been wasted. God. It's been nearly a month that I won't go to bed till 3 am or something.
Think another solution will be fill some extra strong glue into the mini-usb port, dry it by a hair dryer. All problem fixed.

Diamond, should I?

Hello guys!
I've got nice price for my Desire, so I'm going to sell it. Since my Leo took a shower few weeks back it is dead. But, I've found a Diamond, not used. And the price is very low. About 1/3 of what I get for my Desire. BUT, I only want this if I can install Android on it.
I've found this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751), does this realy work? If it does, I'm going to buy this in this week.
I've waiting for Evo, but since it is not available in my country (yet), I want to buy something "cheap" and use it when I wait for my Evo and then have it as my backup mobile.
Well, let me make the long short, does this phone with Android (If it is possible) work for everyday use? I've read that lots of "Force Close" pops up?
Thanks in advance
Lots of respect for XDANDROID ... I am using it (and continuously update to the newest build) ... but not as a productive system for daily use.
Two main reasons for me:
1. battery consumption improved but still ..
2. limited memory of the Diamond ...
You may go through the thread of XDANDROID to see further comments ...
BTW, there is also XDANDROID 2.2 out now (alpha though)
Cheers!

Hello! Thanks for your answer.
I've just found this:

The Diamond is a really good phone and by far the most beautiful one that I have got my hands onto, but it's a 2 year old device. It was the top back in 2008,but now it's really...moderate!But why would you want to sell your Desire?Keep it until the Evo comes to your country(which is by the way...?) and then sell it!

For sure, I'm going to buy new. My point was that Android can't be far away from running on HD2
If you want Android I wouldn't recommend the HD2.Yes,it's one of the best out there and now there is an Android port, but such a port has been available for the Diamond and its compatibles for a very long time now and it's not usable for everyday use.No disrespect to the work that's being done,I really appreciate it and use it on my Diamond, but I have it as a backup phone so it doesn't really matter to me if it works flawlessly as I use my Hero everyday.Android on HD2 is in very early stages, not even open for anyone to try and I think it will be a long time before we see it working efficiently.

I think you should try the froyo version of Tremere in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709632
Battery lasts for about 7-8 hours with average used (which is the not that bad for android on WM device, they are working out how to fix this). I think the warm reason is caused by your device consumes too much energy. BTW, the android version I show you can use wifi.
Hope it can help.

its simply not ready for daily use... there are many things to do for kernel devs for better powermanagement and we have to tweak android the xperia way
at the moment we are running from the storagecard, which eats battery too.
yes good point...
the phone is in permanent access to run the android...
we wait for further developments...

Give up on running android on x1 for everyday use?

I am getting tired of running android on the x1. Battery lasts only a few hours no matter how much u try and tweak it. Standby also consumes too much battery, performance on apps are too weak. Speaker also does not off and a ringing tone keeps repeating.
Well this is only my opinion, some may feel the same but most will not give up hope. Seeing android lasting for a whole day ( include standby ) on my friend's hd2 makes me feel that x1 wasn't meant to run android and only poorly on windows mobile.
I will still encourage the developers to continue their work, and many great thks for allowing me to have a feel of android.
Thus, I will either get an android phone or one that hopefully could last longer running android.
GD Luck to the devs!!!( using android to post for the last time)
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
Count the devs who are working on X1 android. Then count how many are working on HD2 android.
You cannot compare those two, since HD2 have a lot bigger community which means more devs that discover new things.
I also give up.
Im thankfull to all who are working on this. But is seems that battery issue will never be fixed.
So, guys, what is the point of these posts? Do you really think, you are going to motivate developers with saying you will quit?
Idiots, think of it as testing, each new build brings us closer to a fully working one. As of now it's not meant to be used everyday.

You learned that talk from your parents or what???
First of all im visiting this sub-forum 100 times per day for last few months. I was always first to test new ports and kernels and always give feedback to developers to which im very gratefull for their work.
I dont know why this topic was opened. But what i want to say is that im not going to be active on this like i was before. Developers have my support and i wont abandone this completly. I will be first to congratulate them when its done, but its simply too long for me. This is not critic to developers...not at all.
In my line of work its important to resolve main issues and not bother with lesser issues. When you solved main problems than you advance to lesser problems.
I wont call you idiot my friend. You mentioned testing. For me its not effective for developers to constanlty test if some application works, if wifi, 3d, gps works in some versions and other wont. For me its painfull to bother with theese problems when you cant use android at all becouse of battery.
Developers should unite in order to fix battery life first.
Sorry if i insulted anyone (i think i didnt) but in 10 years of my work i learned in my work that issues should be solved hierarchicly.
P.S. Sorry for my slavic english

True, devs are more interested to fix stuff like wifi, bluetooth, gps etc rather than battery. I hope that they will turn their attention to battery first, like successfully make the phone completely sleep in standby. Currently phone consumes the same amount of energy during standby as having the screen on.
But i would not say that developers wasted time doing useless porting of the android system. For Example: Without them wifi would still be completely broken and we would not get to use the android market at all.
Still users have to plug in the wall charger to be able to play or use android. All i hope for is that battery life the main focus of all devs. thanks
(Meanwhile getting another phone to run android till xperiax1 battery is fixed )
Yeah you are right. There is not much improvement in battery life last time, but i think devs are trying to do their best. For example tremere is experimenting with new battery driver and tickless kernel and neopeek have included launcher that is supposed to suck less power.
These things need time. And I'm sure that we will get decent power usage some day.
I have an X1, and i remember the first ever build of android for it, (few months ago), they were terrible, upside-down screen, only a few clicks work, but over time they arrived where we are now, a nearly fully working android for x1, give the hackers/devs some time and they will make it work 99%
I tried neopeek android copy on my x1, and i liked android so much, that 2 days ago i got myself an HD2, which is working now on some HD2 android builds (you will ask why not go directly to some android device, well, i still need windows for some apps, and as an escape in case i don't like android, if i see that i use android 100% of the time, i'll get an android device).
and guess what: HD2 androids suffer from battery issues, they are not few hours like the X1, but still they consume the battery very quickly compared to androids or HD2 windows.
Please do not compare porting android to the X1 with real work for money. It is something completely different, it is a hobby/learning/fun-project. From economical point of view it is complete nonsense because for 100 Euro you can buy a android 2.2 phone to play with. But this is not about money, so there is no pressure behind the development, so it takes time. MUCH TIME!
I agree that battery life is the last big stone in the way to every-day-use. And i am quite sure it is the last, because it is the most difficult to remove. Some time ago i tried myself on getting knowledge about linux/android powermanagement - it is a quite complex animal If you follow the kernel-thread, then it seems that there finally is some progress with power management. Some devs report "2% battery drop per hour on standby", so full day of normal use is getting closer.
Oh, and please dont suggest things like "Developers should unite in order to fix battery life first." Developers do not unite, they develop. Someone else has to spend some time and unite them. Everyone is welcome to do that
"I wont call you idiot my friend." - Well done!!!
Having owned Android phones for about a year and a half now, I'd say battery life on Android devices is pretty mediocre. Period.
I have to charge my HTC Desire at least once a day. Sure, it's likely a kernel issue with Android's lack of stamina on the X1, but please remember that Android isn't exactly known for great battery life. Here are some things you can do to enhance it, though:
How to Improve Battery Life on Android Phones
I guess it came my time to give up android on XPERIA completely. I sold my Xperia X1 to my friend. And im feeling somehow sad.
I have bougth myself HTC Leo HD2. Android works great. But somehow it was more special running semi-functional android on X1.
It felt like modifing WV Golf 2 for Formula 1 racing
XPERIA X1 is phone which you love and hate totally the same.
Even if i dont have any more X1 i will celebrate the day when Android will be fully funcional on X1 and i will still visit this forum.
Bye my friends.
Now battery is way more improved, but buttons bug appeared . It's actually funny. Before, when i showed android to my friend, i said: "i will quickly show you this because battery will expire in 3 minutes." Now i say "damn, buttons are not working again. Wait, i will reboot it"
ok it seems like that
