TAKE ACTION-although there is no MIUI for OB - LG Optimus Black

TO all OB users,
I think it is the time to take action to raise our voice to MIUI developers. Because the CM7 is already released, we should let MIUI developers to know we want MIUI roms. We can just simply go to facebook MIUI site and twitter to leave a message and keeping doing so until our wish come true.
FACEBOOK MIUI

looks like they are doing android 4.0... so I gues no go for MIUI

There are plenty of threads already begging for MIUI, we don't need another.

[ROM] Please vote for the best solgan for MIUI ROM!

Hey everyone,
I'm from MIUI Developer Team in China. We're now collecting an English Slogan for MIUI ROM, which of the following do you think is the best?
Or you can tell us your idea.
1. MIUI, Make Android Your Own
2. MIUI, Android Your Own
3. MIUI, Android on steroid
4. MIUI, Android the next dimension
5. MIUI, the future of Android
6. MIUI, Re-define Android
7. MIUI, Android Evolved!
Thanks!
I like MIUI - Android Evolved
MIUI, Android Evolved! is my favourite.
MIUI is the best ROM at the moment in the Android world. I've been using it for 2-3 weeks now.
MIUI - We Kanged Cyanogen, so you don't have to.
MIUI, Android as it meant to be.
MIUI
My Interface Ur Interface
From the choices Android Evolved.
Miui,Android evolve! !!!!!!!

I'm just about to flash miui and my impression is...
Miui, clean, simple, brutally fast.
But voted for number 1.

HAHA So true.
i haven't ever flashed miui but i think it looks and acts too much like ios which it's android so whats the point but remember i have never tried miui
I think Miui - Android Re-defined.
but from the choices Re-define Android was the best.

The only reason anyone voted for that is because it pays homeage to Halo. Considering the amount of Halo-fanboys, I think it will win. Plus "evolved" may disturb some religious people out there.
But from all those choises; MIUI - Redefine Android, seemed to be the best one (it rolls off the tongue nicely).

Never played Halo, still 'Android Evolved' seems to be the best for me. I have actually studied marketing on high school, loong time ago, and what I remember from the lessons, slogan should always be as easy to say as possible, as easy to remember as possible, and as hard messaging as possible.
Re-define android doesnt look good, and is actually quiet hard to pronunce for me as not being native English speaker. All the others suggestions are too long and would be quiet difficult to remember too
+1 to Android Evolved
I've checked "Re-Define Android".
About Android Evolved!:
If miui is next part of Android Evolution, then what will be next part? Does will it be Apple iAndroid 5.3?
MIUI - iAndroid
MIUI - Android your own
My suggestions are:
"MIUI - The better iOS" would be unfair competition for Apple
"MIUI - The other Android"
"MIUI - Slightly different Android"
Greets
I voted for "Android Evolved", but just to throw this out there... how about taking the "Re-Defined Android" and flipping it to "Android Re-Defined"??? I think that has a nice ring to it. It says it's still Android but more polished. That's just my 2cents worth.
And why the hate in this thread. Yes Miui has a little iOS feel to it, but it's still Android. If you don't like the look of the stock rom throw another theme on it, change the icons, change notification drop down theme.... the list of changes goes on and on. Still don't like the look, use a third party launched like Go Launcher EX or ADW Launcher EX.
I've been using Miui for over 3 months now almost 4. And I have tried out a bunch of other GB based roms in the last few weeks, from CM7 to Evo-Deck to a few of the other ports that have come out in the past couple of weeks. I always come back to Miui for its speed, battery life and stability.
I will admit that for the last couple of weeks I have been using ADW as my launcher. And I will admit that I have been using the "Nexus S Gingerbread" theme for the icons. And yes my evo does look and feel like a stock Gingerbread rom on top, but underneath its still Miui. I still get all of the speed, battery life and stability, and that's why I choose Miui in the first place.
Sent From My Miui Haven, Gingerbread Throwing eVo4g
Been using MIUI as my daily ROM since December, only switching once in a blue moon to see what's new (ie, CM7, Sense 2.1) but nothing can seem to take my grasp away from MIUI. It's grown on me in such a way that I don't think I could ever enjoy an Android phone without it!
On that note, here are some suggestions I came up with.
MIUI, it really whips the llama's ass! (some of you should know where I got this )
MIUI, Magical & Intuitive User Interface (as an acronym )
MIUI, Yours too
MIUI, Love your Android again
MIUI, Love your phone again
MIUI, The future, today
I checked "MIUI, Android Your Own". There is mine: MIUI: the best ROM without apples.

why all of users want ics now?

hi.
LG will release the offical ics rom for our ob in 3 4 mounths. after that, there will be a lot of ics mods (not ports.)
now i want to know, why the users want ics now? i think it is about only enthusiasm.
i like miui. i think a lot of users like miui too. i think if we have one stable miui, it will be perfect. because miui dont plan to release any rom to our device.
miui is more customizable than other roms. more smooth and useful with its settings and apps. and seems good. if you dont like miui launcher, you can install other launchers too...
if we have stable miui on 2.3.4 or stg else, it can be ported on ics after lg's release.
what do you think about?
one project should start to make miui or support The Frankestain and flatzki i think.
i am only a user. not developer. and you can say, ok by or you can laugh this topic. but it is what i think. and want to know what you think.
and i hope this topic will help developers to know what users want...
actually i'm not very familiar with Miui and don't know exactly what it is but ICS is the new Android version so it's not strange that users want it..
Mostly because it should be better i think but also just because it's new..
One thing i do know, if LG says it will release ICS at the end of this year it would probably be the beginning of next year!
I think you should forget that we have official ICS in 4 months..
Do you really think we will get ics at all?
I'm a miui user, too, but I'm glad that there are these amazing ics ports, because some users just hate miui and need the choice
sent via tapatalk
i also wan ICS badly. I even flash every ics ever released.
But we still dont have a stable cm7
N thr r many more features tht GB has but OB doesnt, so it will b much better if we have advanved GB rom with advanved features than an ICS port with minor errors.
Given the GB release reputation frm LG i wudnt expect LG ICS anytime soon. They even postponed 2x ICS release
M not saying ICS development should stop or anything but lets get a feature rich GB rom first
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA
i want to have a stable miui, and i have used miui but i am interested the offical version because its stability. So i am looking forward to stable miui and ics! And the developers go on!!
Try cm9 and you will realise why everyone wants ics guys
Sent from my P970 using xda premium
maybe i'm going to try just to get a first look..
but i rather wait for a stable release.
Hm, it is a very interesting question.
My experience is that in 99.9% of the devices the best rom is the _latest release_ of the _original operating system version_ which the device was released with. In our case it is Android 2.2 V10G in Europe.
(I had a lot of Android and other devices, and this rule of thumb usually worked.)
Yes, this rule doesn't lead you to the most feature-rich device, but you will get the most stable one with the least anger and frustration. And the reason for this is that this devices are _designed to_ run that OS. I saw so many upgrades that are criminal quality, if somebody tried Motorola Milestone 2.3, he/she will understand what I speak of.
Only exceptions are HTC devices.
'cause gingerbread (v20x) was planned for July 2011 and was released 6 month later (end of December, January for most countries). I think we can expect that ICS will be delayed too - at least 6 months extra, maybe never... For Optimus 2X, which was released in the same time of OB but upmarket, the ICS upgrade was recently delayed again (https://www.facebook.com/LGMobileSingapore/posts/10150750124007707).
Shortly: no ICS by volonteer dev here = maybe no ICS ever on OB
EDIT: here not her... I'm sure there are other mistakes too :/
indeed.. if i should guess, i would say that official ICS will never come to the OB.
Why?
Simple, In Europe it was introduced in May 2011.. Guessing the release of ICS will be delayed, it will be released when the OB is about or almost 2 years old..
That doesn't look like it will be profitable to me..
that's a lot of useless energy, better put into new devices..
I think the answer is pretty simple.
Devs have tweaked the hell out of Gingerbread on our devices and i'm not sure there is much ground that would be worth making.
So i assume developers want a challenge and have turned to ICS, MIUI and CM9.
I hardly think developers are porting these to our device just because the users 'want' it. As a developer myself (not android but C# et al.) I dive into these challenges to take my skills to new heights. In order to apply my skills and eventually share that with people.
Side Note: Mods should close this thread coz it has become another ICS discussion thread where people just give their opinions rather than make any new ground.
Thread closed
We already have an ICS discussion thread, we don't need more.

At the moment, I believe that Miui Pro is the best. I just installed it yesterday. It has so many additional features that I can't begin list them all, and there is no doubt in my mind that it has the absolute best battery life.
My first choice was Pixel Experience , but I didn't find options I was after, then moved to Havoc for about a week - too many options, issues with notifications and fingerprint working erraticly on online banking (issues with magisk perhaps). Now I'm settled with crDroid for now and found this quite good, Still have lineageos and few others to try. I'm wondering if any of the ROMs will show led notifications while connected to a charger?

What is the last version for mi8?...Otas updates?...Weekly updates?
thanks!!!
I don't have much time to test all those ROMs, so I always choose stable MIUI ROM. I tried xiaomi.eu ROM, but battery didn't last more than 1 day and SOT was about 4 hours. Then I installed Mi Room and it works like a charm. The developer also maintains own TWRP, brings always fresh news about Xiaomi brand on his page. The major drawback is that the site is fully russian. But google translate will do the job. With this ROM I have SOT about 8 and more hours, Wifi, BT, GPS, data always on.

Then don't.
I mean I know that you know this already. But you don't have to flash a new Rom every week. Just resist the urge. I will try Mi-Room sometime. But at the moment Miui Pro is truly one of the best Rom's that I have ever used. According to GSam just now, SOT is 9 hours and 58 minutes
I stopped flashing weekly doing because it becomes too much like an addiction and takes too much of my free time away from other more important things like yelling at my kids........joking.

No its based on Beta.
Personally, I prefer the beta. But as you know you will occasionally see bugs.
I have been using the beta roms on my Mi8 for about 3 months. Honestly I only see bugs occasionally and if there is a bug, I just dirty flash back to the prior release.

I am going to bed, so I will have to give the list later. Pretty much everything you can imagine. For example, everything that I have seen in Miui Roms from Nougat up through Pie. But all incorporated within a Pie Rom. What is really useful, is the Smart Network options, the extra connections timers and battery savings scripts that go well beyond typical Miui. Plus Miu Pro has the menu animations from Nougat, not sure if you know those, the folding, unfolding, overshoot etc. It doesn't do much but its a neat looking novelty, your can import any theme, as I have mentioned the battery life is phenomenal.
I need to sleep now. Yes, I definitely love that Rom. But I will check out the ew Mi-Room rom too since I have tried it yet.

Hi Rajeev, I messaged you.
The most current version is 9.5.9. However, It is my understanding that Miui Pro is only updated monthly and 4PDA has been a great resource for me. As you may know, it's very difficult getting past the Cyrillic captcha on 4PDA so I joined the site with help from a Russian friend.
For the benefit of other readers I will reiterate something I said to you privately
I assume that OTA is one of the benefits from having a subscription.
With that being said, I have dirty flashed Miui Pro and other EU weekly beta custom roms with zero issues
Flash, dont root yet / boot to system / update google store apps / reboot to recovery/ then flash Magisk/ Enjoy
Finally, Miui Pro is so very good so I definitely recommend that any interested parties check it out. If anyone can afford the OTA subscription, I am sure that the developers would really appreciate your support. Otherwise, I know that updates via 4PDA have been ongoing for a long time, because I have used them on my other devices. Because of the long-term consistency with 4PDA updates, I have always assumed the updates posted on 4PDA are from the developers themselves and the link that I posted a couple of days ago is always updated with the latest Miui pro ROM releases as the become available.
I will most likely go for Syberia, once my Mi 8 can be unlocked, with Pixel Experience and LineageOS being the backup options.
First and foremost, I look for a ROM that provides a fast experience, good battery life and stability. Customisation options beyond that what AOSP offers are welcome, but not a necessity.
What would you guys suggest, given I don't want to use MiUI-based ROMs.

Xiaomi.eu really better ram management?

Hey guys I'm using a mi 8 for three days now and I'm sick of the bad ram management of the MIui 10 globe..tried everything.. I read a few meanings but I wanted to ask again:
Is the ram management really that better in the EU Rom? Because this socks so hard right now.. This would be the only reason for me to unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Thx in advance guys. Best wishes.

I don't think that xiaomi.eu has better ram management. It based on China miui rom with multilingual and Google play services. If you want to stay on miui add apps to autostart and lock these apps at recent apps. If you want to better ram management just try any custom rom based on aosp or los

yes, it's absolutely better. I use it and I switched my parents who are in their mid 70's over to Xiaomi EU and they like it better to. My dad who knows absolutely nothing about about phones, computers or any kind of tech said that to him it feels smoother.
Since 8.15 Xiaomi .EU have adapted Miui 11 apps into the build, I made posts about this in the Best rom section with screenshots.
Personally, I like that there are no ads whatsoever, and that battery life is incredibly good. Especially when the Miui 11 extreme saving function is enabled. This mode limits the device to 9 apps and I havent charge my phone since about 5 days ago, and still have plenty of battery left. Granted, as a test I did not use my usual apps such as Youtube, Twitter, XDA, Reddit. But, I still used it for calls, messenger, hangouts, and reading the news.
Its like anything, it's up to the user. Some people prefer stock, some prefer AOSP, and some prefer custom stock roms such as Xiaomi.EU. There is graph of a recent poll here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/index-roms-kernel-recoveries-tweaks-t3853178
Try it, if you don't like it then you have the option to go back. FYI, if you stay on stock you can sign up for early access to official Miui 11 apps , in the settings of the updater. Next to apply for early testing of android Q /Miui 11 before its available. probably in November.

User experience like OnePlus 7 Pro

The main reason for 90% of ppl I've talked to and seen online for getting the OP7 Pro was the user experience of Oxygen OS. As a Mi9T Pro user, what ROM will get me closest to this experience since I don't see a Oxygen OS ROM here. I'm sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, I tried searching but nothing similar came up. Thx and any support is much appreciated.
Really i dont understand what ppl are obsessed by Oxygen ROM. user experience? what is better then on any other rom? MIUI is quit same good as oxygen, and well optimised.
I think I've seen an Oxygen OS beta thread.
Personally, I tried few roms but I realised stock MIUI feels the best in terms of speed and everything, which is expected since it's factory optimized.
I removed all the Xiaomi bloatware and installed Google equivalents when needed. I also blocked all Xiaomi tracking and telemetry domains using hosts.
I always install Nova Launcher on every device is buy and customize it for my likings. And then added FNG for totally customize it for comfort.
SwiftKey is my favourite keyboard which I can resize to exact point of comfort for me.
I mean to say that android comes with decent flexibility and options to customize user experience. Personally i feel good with my tuned UX.

Well this is the clear example of why Oxygen OS is better than MIUI.
Just take a look at all the changes you had to do to the ROM in order to be satisfied with it... Dude i know most people here are used to change and customize everything but many of my coworkers just to give you an example doesnt even know what a launcher is. When i told them they could change launcher it was like a big surprise to them and i couldnt believe they didnt know that.
So going back to your comment .. the thing is that most ppl wont bother change things like you did and so they will use the ROM as it comes therefore if we compare stock ROMs experiences Oxygen OS beats MIUI so bad, they don't orverload you with apps you probably dont need.
The overall experience eels smooth and simple and sometimes simple is better.
Right now i have a MI 9T Pro yes but i had 7 PRO even 7T and it was the first time for me that i was happy with a stock ROM and didnt want to change, while with MIUI i inmediately change to AOSP Roms.

I do find Oxygen OS better than MIUI. But the customizations I mentioned I need to do on every phone, including my old One Plus 6.
I like one plus phones. When buying the new phone OnePlus 7 was obvious choice for me, but lack of pop-up camera, headphone jack, and wide angle camera were deal breaker for me.
i like exploring all kinds of roms, i tried most of the roms for k20 pro.. as i dont like my phone everyday in same looks.
i enjoy using evox type of customizations, but tend to move to stable roms with FP working flawlessly and has call rec ( just in case), i used EU beta roms for long time than indian stock rom ( now on China beta though)
i have seen oneplus 7t .. it seems snappy, mostly due to animations.. but i am sure it Oxygenos will also get bored after a while
but MIUI is not like that every time you get bored.. try some themes, and launchers
i mock my friends, like my phone is on IOS,OxygenOS.. only with a theme change
i have to admit that there are much beautiful in MIUI than in any other
my fav : ios13 x pro by rafael henrique and soo on.
if you like to explore.. there is more chance in k20 pro as we have MIUI and customroms ( even Oxygenos custom rom , which is crippled but yes)
but if i buy oneplus - i wont have MIUI ! .. i call that an added advantage for k20 pro.

It kinda is a good example and it also really isn't at the same time. The dude above talks about personalizing his phone to a degree to fit his personal needs, I think everyone of us geeks does something like that. I customize some stuff too, for example the position of icons on my home screen or the quick toggles, gboard settings but these are things we do on every phone. I still agree with your premise tho, I think OOS is a decently cleaner than MIUI out of the box and I really have a lot of criticism for MIUI too but credit where credit is due: MIUI is getting better and better with every iteration (except for maybe MIUI9 to 10) and I'll give them that. Obviously a lot comes down to personal preference and I really like the direction that stock android is going but stock android also kinda sucks to be honest. There's no dual apps, themes just got integrated and are still pretty trash, there's no proper gallery app, no recording app nor screen recording, and they in fact *just* integrated a file manager with android 10 and are still working on a decent picture editor. That's probably the reason why OxygenOS is as popular as it is. It takes stock android direction and adds everything that's missing (and there's a lot missing imo, as I just listed)
Thanks for all the feedback and personalization tips guys. I do like the customization options of MIUI, and the most common and significant problem with MIUI I've come across is the bloatware, and no shortcut to disabling it. Most ppl don't delve into the nitty gritties generally because they don't have the know how and technical expertise to do so, and sometimes bcoz they don't have the time. I love my phone and was just wondering if getting a custom rom was going to significantly increase the UX. I'd upgrade to the K30 Pro, but the lack of even a 90hz screen is off putting. Even the K30 has 120hz, but the Pro got nerfed bigtime.
As far as Custom ROMs for the Mi 9T Pro/K20 Pro goes, which one would you guys suggest?
I've tried Lineage OS and Resurrection. I kept Lineage for few days, which ran nice but had random restarts. Although many other people report it is running without problems.
Finally I came to EEA rom (my phone had Indian ROM originally).
