removing the following apps breaks HDMI mirroring
DLNA.apk
DlnaSystemService.apk
PortalStandAlone.apk
To restore HDMI mirroring, rename these files back to their original name. This should fix HDMI. All credit to pedwards3x at Rootzwiki for this information.

Droid2 MediaGallery and DLNA for Milestone 2.2.1?

Hi,
now that we finally have 2.2 on our beloved Milestones, I'd like to know if anyone knows how to port the Droid 2 MediaGallery and DLNA (worked on the 2.1 Milestone, too, with a Dexter Mod).
I already tried to install the MediaGallery from DroidX but after moving it to /system/apps/ it doesn't show up (after reboot and setting permissions).
Any help and hints are appreciated.
drop it on your SDcard and install using astro.
DLNA needs a system service in init.rc(dlnasrv), some libs, and framework, becides the DLNA.apk file as well.
so its not so easy as just installing the apk file..
Why don't you use Twonky Mobile for DLNA? Its free and less hassle. I've tried it on Panasonic Viera and it works.

Hi! Do you probably know if its possible to just copy these needed files?
The Droid 2 Gallery is pretty nice, so probably this can be ported, too from your Froyo Mod?

I tried it, but I dont like this client. A more integrated client like the original would be much better.
Could anyone attach the Droid 2 Gallery please? (if it's not warez!) I'd really like to see how it is better than N1's...

[Q] HDMI interface access?

Hi everyone!
I hope i'm in the right sub-forum here...
I'm trying to find out how they accessed the hdmi output on the optimus 2x in the videoplayer app to maybe push a second user-interface on the external display...
already tried to reverse engineer the videoplayer apk, but cannot fully decompile it
did any of you maybe stumble upon an hdmi lib or something when working on custom roms?
best regards
Dos

checked the source, couldn't find anything there :/
but thanks for the hint
There's some low level driver code:
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=ke...ad97c6a90b011f08f8f4dbea6f1d37ea30ed6;hb=HEAD
It's not the media player but it is still interesting.
Have a look in the Atrix 4g development section, they've done the opposite of what you want. They replaced the webtop initializing through HDMI with mirroring instead. So if you moved things around you might be able to get what your after.

[Q] is it possible to port smartshare

i was wondering, is there anyway to port Smartshare to an installable APK for use in other roms?

Anything is possible, but it is highly unlikely as the LG apps require the underlying framework to function - which means they won't work on non-stock-based ROMs.
that sucks, so it's like some Samsung apps? Is smartshare the only app that can stream videos over wifi direct to a tv? is there any other app that can do this too? so far i have found none.

There not much widespread adoption of wifi direct in applications, but im sure there must be something out there to perform that function. Most modern tvs are capable of streaming for a upnp share, might be able to set one up on your phone.
something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp&hl=en (i havnt tested it)

[Q] OTG and Kitkat

I know that the moto x lost the native otg support with the kitkat update, but we still can access otg via a third part app. I bought a meenova today, and i want to use for expand my music libray. I was wondering: the use of these apps is an incovenient, or is good just like the native on jb? And, can i play the songs in the sd card with poweramp? There's a resolution to bring back otg suport on kiktak via root?
Please answer me, sorry for my bad engliesh.

I just got a Meenova last week, and I installed Chainfire's StickMount app. I did end up purchasing the paid version because the Meenova would never unmount. The paid version of the app can kill whatever app is preventing the Meenova from unmounting. It works great now. I just connect the Meenova, and it shows up as a folder that I can access through ES File Explorer. You should be able to play music files directly from that folder, although I have not tried it.

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that, although it is pretty clear by the fact that the StickMount app has "[root]" in its title.

[Q] Problems casting

Does anyone else have a problem casting from the fire tablet? I've installed all necessary Google services and the playstore. They've updated automatically. I can cast using YouTube and Showtime Anytime with no problems since I am able to see my Chromecast devices when connecting. For some reason I cannot see my Chromecast devices when trying to cast from Netflix or HBO Go. I've reinstalled these apps but still not working. The Chromecast app is able to see the devices and connect to them with no problems.

netflix and hbo go do not allow casting from ro.device.manufacturer=Amazon in build.prop
change to at to amzn, or something else, and it should work fine

I imagine I will need root access to change the build.prop. Where can I find this file so that I can make the appropriate changes? Thanks!

I got Netflix working after editing the build prop but HBO Go will still not cast. The cast button won't even show up. Am I missing something? Is this the only line I have to edit in the build prop? Thanks!
