[Q] Need advice, considering buying Optimus 2x - LG Optimus 2x

hi all i'm currently deciding whether to get the optimus 2x.
im wondering what are the pros and cons after months of usage by you guys.
im interested to know about stuffs like:
- battery life
- custom ROM availability
- performance (game, scrolling, browser)
- defect (anyone who has a defect unit pls specify tyvm)
- screen quality
- sound quality
- etc (specify)
am i recommended to get this optimus 2x or you would recommend me to get other phones such as i9000, i9003 etc?

If you like custom rom's then this one is really good if you can get it for a low price Battery for me about 30h with Cm7. Performance very good. Good screen and with Fiio E11 the audio quality is better than my cowon o2 (using sennheiser hd 25)

Hi, I bought my O2X two months ago. I only bought it because of the CyanogenMod support. The stock ROM by all accounts is s**t.
Using CM7, the O2X is fantastic.
Screen: Great.
Audio: Great.
Battery: 8-14 hours with 3G. On 2G 30 hours.
Performance: Using Launcher Pro, the interface is silky smooth.
Custom ROM: At least 3 very well supported ROM's.
Games: It plays everything.
GPS: Locks in under 3 seconds.
I bought my O2X for £270. Which for me is great value. I strongly recommend you buy a new handset, and pay with a credit card. Some users with older handsets report issues which can only be attributed to faulty hardware.
I am very happy with my O2X.
Have fun. Anil

what about the random reboots and reboot loops?
btw thx for the input, yea im able to get it in a pretty reasonable price

Hi, I think the reboot and the BSOD problem, are either related to a dodgy handset, the stock ROM, or both. Which is why I suggested buying a new handset, and using CyanogenMod.
I have NEVER had an issue with CM7 & my O2X. Apparently the MIUI ROM, is also very good. A lot more like Apple's iOS than ANDROID. Which is what some people prefer.
Have fun. Anil

You will regret it. I had to choose between samsung galaxy s2 and lg optimus 2x. Unfortunatelly I did choose lg because of the price difference and I made a big mistake. Lg doesn't upgrade their phones and you will have to try a lot of cooked roms untill you will find the best for you, but even then it will not work as you want it. The camera quality is bad for a 8mp camera, the full hd recording isn't even close to hd quality, you will need fixes for the gps and if you will have the oportunity to compare the lg 2x display and the samsung super amoled plus display you will notice a really big difference.
Maybe I am one of those who will never again buy lg phones but take a look at the lg facebook page and you will find thousands of people who complain about their phones.

If money is not a big issue (it was for me), go for de Samsung. I had random reboots and BSOD that disappeared with CM7 stable, but LG support is worse than poor. And the Samsung is, have to say, a better choice.

I would buy it if I were you I had first galaxy S, then iPhone 3gs and this summer I was choosing between S2 and O2X. I would choose LG again. I don't have problems with reboots or any other issues. I was using CM, MIUI and Paul's ROM. At the moment I am on one other stock based ROM and everything works great. People are complaining about LG support and crappy software but I remember how ****ty galaxy s was... This device is far better for me so I could only recommend it to you. But at the end, it is your decision what to do

If you want it great out of the box get the s2 if you enjoy tinkering and flashing new roms I'd get the o2x as I've seen real improvements using miui or cm7

I bought the O2x shortly after launch and have regretted it ever since. It is a fantastic handset with great look/feel BUT I get the BSOD / reboot loops - the phone has been in for repair twice and I have had it replaced once - still getting the same issue. I am currently fighting with my supplier to swap to a different phone.
It's a shame - when it works it works fantastically well - but I just can't afford to have a phone that can't be relied upon to take calls and set alarms.
(I have had issues on Stock and CM7 - I am convinced that this is a manufacture flaw.)

strange,, i had no issue like that... both on froyo and ginger on stock or custom
hope your phone will be quickly repaired,,

I think that most issue is software related. The hardware is quite good but a bit less fast than a samsung galaxy II. Buy a O2X if you want the best price, or buy a sgII if you want quality.
On the end, the O2X will have android 4.0 too (well, Lg committed to that, might be in 2 years).
Oh one thing I don't really like is the flash of the APN. It's way too brilliant.
Ohh and if I have to recommend a rom, it would be the stock v20L. Well, CM7 is good too.

Touch Wiz
The reason I bought my O2X is because I really like CyanogenMod. Are there any custom ROM's for the SG2? If not you will have to use "Touch Wiz".
I for the record bought a new O2X two months ago and I haven't had any hardware issues.
Anil
EDIT: CyanogenMod does support the SG2.

My lg works perfect,my sister got sensation today and it is a little better phone but not 200euros better. My advice buy lg. Never had bsod, reebots etc. Tryed miui,topogigi,cm7 but it works best on froyo stock.

Often overlooked, but the screen is, IMHO, as good as I've used; this includes the IP4, SGS2, Omnia 7 etc. The colours are very natural, lovely saturation and contrast; and the curved edges make it a very holdable handset.
MASSIVE downpoint for me; using stock, appalling battery life. I'm a very light user, use nothing intensive and cant make a whole day on a single charge. Get that up to a usable timeframe and its as good a phone as there is out there in real term day to day operation.
Oh, and the ridiculous number of ****ty bugs in the stock ROM. Such as random switching off, random refusal to find known WiFi networks, random refusal to find signal, random refusal to charge the battery.....
Hardware is lovely, software is as bad as I have had on a mobile. Except my Nokia E52, but that was an extreme example

[Q] should i buy this ...thing ?

Hi guys,
i am thinking to buy optimus 2x or desire s. (they both cost almost the same, minor diff), i dont even dare call optimus 2x a phone anymore
desire s:
cool looking, metal body, great size,
BUT sucky camera, non rootable without xtc clip, no devs working on it, and some battery cover problems (squeaky)
optimus 2x:
LOTS of devs (which im hoping will fix the reboot issue), CM (yeaa!), great camera, hardware etc...
BUT its rebooting, getting very hot (for many), screen backlight bleeding and generaly unstable phone... my only gripes with it.
im so lost. any advice is VERY appreciated
The hardware for the Desire S is a real let-down IMHO. I've found my O2X to be stable generally, the early nightlies of CM7 weren't great but after about 10 they really improved. LG's software sucks but the phone is still usable, if laggy.
I've had no heat issue (if anything it runs cooler than my old Desire, if not my DEXT). Likewise the screen bleeding issue. I wouldn't choose any other phone right now.

and if i may ask, for how long have you had your o2x ?
Looolll.
Is like comparing a Toyota with a Ferrari....
Ofcourse LG O2X.
I have mine since day one of release.
Some times (once a week or in 2 weeks) BSOD.
Phone never gets warm or what so ever.
Kept it stock for a long time. Rooted my phone like 2 weeks ago.
Just for Adfree, nothing else.
Had mine for a week. Stabile as rock! Not one reboot. No heat issues.
I have frozen antivirus and drivemehome (perhaps those who make the device reboot??)
My battery is good for 2 days with moderate use on 2G network. Have disabled 3G...
The backlight bleeding is a problem with all LCD screen more or less. I dont know why you want to stare at the screen while its pitch black in a room without light... I have some bleeding, but never bothers me. It is usually something to see in the screen
and what about the other loads of ppl who have bsod 5 times per day :| ?
i just really dont want want to go wrong with this because return is not an option

Just play with your phone hardcore for 3 days.
If any BSOD, REBOOT, hot tempure will occure you can go to the store en switch the phone.
And if your phone has these issues, I think you will notice it on the hardcore 3 day use.

I would do the opposite actually. Using the phone will give you no issues, it's only when left alone that the problems occur.
I seriously wouldn't risk this phone to be honest. You're guaranteed to have issues in one way or another, and you shouldn't have to root and void your warranty to get a reliable phone.
IMHO, if you can wait, I would suggest waiting 6 weeks to 2 months to see how the dual-core phone scene pans out. I think gingerbread would likely be on LG2X by then, as would improved stability on other dual-core phones as well. Also, like all electronic products, the longer you wait to buy - the cheaper they become.
keep in mind that some people had the O2X for 3 weeks before they started getting reboots/ freezes and BSOD. Just saying
Just you wait a little more while. CM7 will be as stable as a rock soon enough.
IMO. The Desire S should be around 2/3 the price of O2X to make it any worthy compared to O2X. It's just an upgraded version of the original Desire with a high pricetag.
The desire and incredible s work out of the box though. Without random reboots and freezes. If you just want a phone that works, I would go with the desire.
The 2x is great hardware for the money, but hardware isn't everything. I'm saying if you were concerned about problems, this really isn't the handset for you. Because you are 99% guaranteed to have issues.
If you are buying this with the intention to hack the hell out of it, you might be ok. You can't beat it's hardware to price ratio.
Don't even think about running this phone on stock if that is your intention.
It still hasn't been fully determined if anyone running stock, no root, no changes haven't had issues. Checking the various threads, I can't see anyone using stock that doesn't have issues. Most have either rooted and frozen apps, or put a complete new rom on.
If there are people running stock and don't have issues, they are a minority at best.
The op is saying a return isn't really an option to them. If so, then look elsewhere.
I hacked the **** out of it. And I love it. I could get an sgs2 but I didnt and thats saying a lot.

thanks guys. idk, i think im more leaning towards optimus 2x now, cuz of CM mostly, but then again, the size is kinda huge especially for a 4 inch screen.
and 1 more question, hows the audio quality through headphones ? i read in gsmarena that stereo crosstalk is pretty awful, what do you people think ? its kind of important cuz i always use my phone as a music player
Why isn't the stock ROM an option? My first handset had to be replaced on day one. My replacement has BSOD once in a month. BSOD aside, the stock ROM really aint that bad - the LG home app isn't so great, but replace it with Go Launcher (or Launcher Pro or. . . ) and it's fine.

btw another Q, hows the call quality ? and still: hows the sound through headphones ( is the stereo cross talk bearable ? cuz gsmarena said its pretty sucky, wondering how is it in real life situations)

[Q] A Rhetorical Question: Should I Buy The 2X?

Thats right people, i just made the million dollar question. As a quick background, ive owned an ETEN X500 (terrible phone), an HTC TD2 (ridiculous newton rings issues) and up until a few days i was a proud owner of an Acer Liquid E, which was, with the help of some geniuses up at modaco, an amazing handset which had cost me only about 280 euros more than a year ago. Due to a terrible car accident (from which i miraculously survived almost intact) the Liquid fell into the sea and, well, thats all with that. As you can tell im not into paying incredible money for a phone, since i hate contracts (pay-as-you-go is the future lol), so id rather save up and pay for an unlocked device. I have found a pretty good deal on the Optimus 2X, about 380 Euros, which i consider great for a dual-core device, but as i keep on reading page after page here, im quite shocked on the amount of issues this phone has. The screen bleeding is really nothing new for an IPS LCD display, ive seen it b4 and im sure ill see it again, and its only noticeable in extreme situations (full brightness, black background and nothing else) so im not so much worried about it. The lag/freeze/reboot situation is a completely different issue of course. There are so many people experiencing these problems that one may think that the 2X is a faulty device by design, but im still not totally convinced about it. Are we seriously talking about bad HW here, or is there any substantial hope of getting a holy-grail-type SW fix? I know that this has been talked over again and again and i have already read more than 50 pages on that, so my question goes more to the people that have done serious research on the issue and could, possibly, have a more global view on it. The phone does have all im lookin for on a device: dual-core CPU, LCD display (S-AMOLED burn-in? no thanx), HDMI, 1080p video, affordable.. But having lots of doubts, as expected.
Anyways, any thoughts/replies would be very welcome.
PS Even if i dont end up buying the phone, good luck to the owers
Peace
Buy it, root it, install CM7 on it, most issues would be gone. Gingerbread also slated to come soon. This is a value for money phone imo.
The freeze problem I think are not on every device. I think that some countries do not have this prohlem at all. Like here in Slovakia I read a lot of reviews and people reviews, and no one was affected by this problem. So I bought it too, and never this problem never happened so far. So... you make a conclusion
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Buy the phone, The bang for buck is high regarding performance. Screen is good and if you lucky like me almost no back bleeding. The phone itself has a solid build and you get the Quality feel when you hold it. Camera is good and HD recording as well.
I only had the random reboot issue at the begging but with the latest Update its better now, has occurred but not that often like 1 in a month or something. Lags sometimes when installing apps or the F-secure is doing its thing.
Overall i'm happy with the phone, Just wished that LG put more ram and faster NAND. However don't get me wrong the phone doesn't bottleneck because of this performance wise. If i where you and wanted powerhouse that's cheap then the 2x is for you.
Also note that i run Stock ROM froyo, think with GB things will get better.
A tip if you get it change the launcher right away or put another ROM(CM7 or Modaco if you ask me, also check out MIUI) and Kernel.
(Haven't done it myself cause of lack of time, need to start exploring Android dev wise. Used to work with Winmo 6.1 on my xperia x1 (old dev) ).
If you have plans to use custom ROMs, buy it. I never had any problems with it.
Sent from my LG Optimus 2x using XDA Premium App
Thanx for the replies guys, its good to know that things may not be as bad for everybody. I guess i might take my chances with this one.. Ill def be doing some more reading bout it though.. thanc again
I compared 5 phones:
Sony Ericsson Arc - no front facing camera
Motorola Atrix - no FM radio
Samsung Galaxy S2 - great phone, but a little out of my budget
HTC Sensation - a real contender, but more expensive than the LG and starting to get close in price to the Samsung
LG O2X - the lowest price with all the features I wanted.
I've had one reboot in over one month's use: I had the LG tethered to my notebook (works surprisingly well as a 3G modem). Surfing the net and charging the phone at the same time. I then started making voice calls and Tango video calls while still tethered to the internet and charging.
I could feel the LG starting to get a little warm and then bada bing! Re-boot.
I think I pushed it a little too hard that day.
Under normal use and conditions, my LG works well.
I would happily buy another one of these bronze beauties.
(I think black is also available, but I only ever seem to see the bronze coloured handsets)
Rhetorical answer - No.

Hi mate, are you from Italy?
I bought it 10 days ago at the same price you said on an Italian website (maybe the same u saw) and I had a lot of BSOD. IMO when you find it at a very low price it's because they have "bad" phones and they want to sell them as soon as possibile but I don't know if this is true!
But you have to consider that with the warranty you are almost sure that any issue will be resolved, you just have to wait... Mine is at the LG center right now and I'm waiting for it. Luckyli my HTC Magic is still working, so I have a good replacement during the wait!
Sorry for my English, I hope you understand everything

I am in Spain actually and it seems that my case looks a lot like yours. The retailer is very well known and it sells in all Europe. There is only 1-5 phones on stock at the moment so i think that maybe its a 'bad batch' that they are trying to get rid of, hence the low price tag. Mixed opinions here as well, so.. im really not sure about it at all. Continue reading
I'm satisfied of the phone...
When I buy it I had a lot of SODs with stock rom, but now with CM7 and MIUI this phone is much better...

So.. The phone arrived yesterday from the UK. After about 10 hours of heavy usage i had 1 reboot, that, from what ive read over these days, doesnt really bother me.. Coming from a Liquid E, this phone feels very very fast, no lags or slowdowns of any kind. From earlier experience and knowing that the phone is on stock ROM, i can imagine that with a custom CM7 it should be faster than Bolt. BTW i left the phone last night with 64% battery and this morning i had.. 64% battery!! Incredible.. Anyways, im not gonna be flashing custom roms just yet, the only thing im interested in at the moment is getting the [email protected] patch working.. Even though i have found the 'start here' post here on xda, it will take some time to understand what needs to be done 1st etc since there's no clear guide, but im used to this kind of situations (just like anyone with a smartphone browsing through xda pages i guess).. Abot the battery issue, Ive been having it too after one month using it. The thing is, that the phone actually gets charged, but somehow the phone unable to detect the actual battey level.
I found that restarting the phone will get the phone to redetect the battery again. I think its a SW problem though, so any custom ROM will likely fix the problem.

If you like to have the latest version of Android OD with no bells and whistles then get the Nexus.
If you like to wait 6+ months for LG to install a boatload of crap (that nobody wants) into a phone, then be late for work every other day because the alarm didn't work etc etc then go for the LG.
Nexus S anytime.

+1 for this
But as they say p970 it has goot hardware
Hardware, most are good except battery is suck (software prob i think) & VGA is very old, PowerVR 530... at first i was hoping 535 or 540. But well, i barely use my phone for games.
Very like the phone design, also I love IPS panel for sure

good phone with some glitches
the phone is having a very good display, a great slim streamline body, the best front facing camera, the primary camera is having rich colors too.
however, what hangs the phone down is the bad s/w support, tinny(although loud) speakers, the LG Bloatware, fingerprint prone back panel and a bad battery. i have 2 charge it every night
and oh! the GPU is not powerful enough, i bought this phone mistaking the Sgx530 as the SGX540 (the one in the SGS). although, i don't regret buying it. primarily due to the awesome display
I bought this phone the P970 to replace my older GT i9000 Galaxy S1
Hardware wise i love it but software wise its not so good
So i bought a Galaxy S 2 as main phone
Even now when i hold the P970 in my hand this phone feels better and more comfortable fit than Galaxy S2
Dont get me wrong Galaxy S2 is probably the best android phone out there but the P970 aint that far behind I love both phones just Samsung have better on time updates
Its a shame if the P970 came shipped with Android 2.3 it would have been a massive hit
even my old service provider Tmobile dont have it listed now as one of their phones now online for sale anymore
LG have a lot to learn
Was speaking to LG support yesterday according to them the update we are all waiting for is ready on their end now it is being tested by service providers and once the approval is sent back to LG then it will be ready for people to update , they say it is imminent
I live in a hostel, and i have almost all smartphones in my building under a roof.
And all i can say about Optimus Black is that it has the best display out there in market. I have compared the 720p movies hand-on-hand with Sensation XE (htc flagship), Galaxy S2 (Samsung flagship) and Arc S (SonyErricson flagship). And not only me, but the owners of those mobiles themselves frankly admitted that Optimus Black is the most fabulous while watching movie.
And also another thing, many smartphones of today, when you use outdoors in sunlight, well, i've seen too many people keeping their palms on mobile to avoid direct sunlight falling on mobile. But with Optimus Black, i can see crystal clear in daylight without slightest discomfort.
Every mobile has its goods and bads, and i'm happy with my OB for the good it brings.
pros : slim, good material, wifi direct, nice display, the only one with neutral colors and pure white (better render than AMOLED), camera is also one of the best on phones market
cons : software, battery, 1gb of ram would have been better, no TV out, not dustproof
the worst thing after all for me is that we have to keep the phone ON to use alarms (is it the case for all androphones ?)

Yes, I think so.
I've had my OB for about two months now and I can't possibly state how happy I am with it !
It's great ! Isn't it just great, you guys ?
The battery lasts a lot more than my old Blackberry's, the display is huge, shiny and the colors are vivid. Game performance is astonishing and I love the Dolby mobile option for Music and Videos.
All in all, a great phone !

[Q] LG Optimus 2x or LG Optimus Black

--
I have a p990 and with a custom rom it's a dream x), The screen is beautiful . For me it's a very good phone
I didn't used the P990 (2x) with stock rom for a very long time, in fact 30 minutes, just the time to gather everything to flash cyanogenmod 7.
You may be new on xda but a rom when almost everything works is not a common thing, CM7 rom others based on it for the P990 and P970 (black) everything work.
If you want to stay on stock rom and just root, I won't recommend you a LG phone as they kind of mess up their stock rom.
If can understand how to flash a custom firmware, then both phones you want, have a very good kang (you'll understand this later) by temasek.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425
I'm using it on P990 and it's a true marvel. I think that I took this one because it's the cheapest dual core phone available. No in fact it's because it has a stable CM7 port. First I wanted the Samsung I9100 (Galaxy S2) which have a powerful dualcore internaly made by samsung but there is I9100G in the wild which is also called Galaxy S2 but have a Texas Instrument CPU. The fact that this version is less powerful than the original one doesn't matter, it just make it not compatible with I9100 roms.
Don't consider the optimus black, dual core is what you want, trust me. Even if the optimus 2x don't have what LG is calling Nova screen, it still a beautiful screen, very sharp (still the iphone 4/4S is a little sharper, just a little) and with gorilla glass. I think it's the first time in 5-6 years that I didn't put screen protector on my phone.
But with the Tegra 2 dual core and the speed of CyanogenMod, everything is so smooth. With 50€ extra, go for the 2x.
If you can wait, the samsung galaxy S3 will arrive and the price of the S2 will drop a little. The 4.3" screen may be too big for you but it has better stock rom than the LG 2X.
But LG Optimus 2x P990 with CyanogenMod7 is something unmatched in the 300€ price range right now.
2x that price is too expensive , if you like app,you should buy iphon4 8g, but the 3.5 screen is too small. Android platform i will consider sumsung galaxy note, bigest screen , or lg optimus lte ,in china it just 2k5 ~= €300
I agree with all of the above (except for the chinese guy).
290 euros is not a big price tag for O2X, at least not on "first world" countries.
Even if you're not a very demanding user you will certainly enjoy flashing a custom ROM. Phone is smoother, more stable, battery life is better, etc. Unless of course you screw it up and brick your phone. But if you follow the instructions step by step (I can help you with that) you should be fine!

i mean €290 for 2X is not worth , just 1 year the hardware is way behind. don't we consider ' cost performance' , maybe you shouldn't care the damn €520+ like some chinese, there are iphone4s everywhere in china.

My friend, can you tell me what's better than an O2X for 290 eur?

Its great price for it. Only reason for such price drop is that first wave of o2xs was crap and people lost trust in that phone.

I can only talk about what I've tried.
I "test-drove" the phone for about three weeks with stock ROM and I liked it, didn't have any problems, no sleep of deaths, battery life was ok.
Then I tried temasek's kang and vadonka's kernel, and what was already good just got excellent. Phone is ultra stable, great performance, great battery life.
Regarding camera quality, obviously removing the plastic cover will get you better quality as you will not have distortion from the plastic, but be careful as this plastic is there to protect your camera lens. As long as you don't scratch the plastic cover you shouldn't have any trouble. Quality is acceptable for me... for a phone camera, obviously.
Flashing a custom ROM, as far as I know, doesn't improve picture quality.

Hello guys,
I´d like to buy a new phone (my first smartphone), but not sure which one. Although I browsed through a lot of phones (not all, of course), I found only 3 phones that I truly like (mainly because of design and features included):
- LG Optimus Black (price 245 - 255 Euro)
- LG Optimus 2x (290 Euro)
- iPhone 4 16GB (520+ Euro)
Well, I´m not willing to pay 520+ Euro for brand new iPhone 4, so only 2 options remain. These are my pros for each of LGs:
LG Black
+ thinner and lighter
+ better screen ?? (not sure about this one)
LG 2x
+ dual core CPU
+ bigger internal memory
+ better camera and video
I know about crappy LG support and read about all bugs that you have suffered from (using 2x, not sure if Black is better in this area). I presume that I´d need to root phone (never did that) to get the best experience of it. But what would you suggest me? Should I buy Black or 2x? Or should I look elsewhere?
PS: I´m not power user and don´t need best out there (won´t play games much if at all). I just need fully functional phone with appealing design, very good screen (4-inch max.), good connectivity and very good camera.
THANKS for feedback.

Go for o2x. Black has really outdated gpu. Or maybe htc evo 3D for 270€.

HTC EVO 3D:
cons:
- Not gorilla glass
- Internal storage 1GB??
- Camera 5 MP
pros:
- 1.2 GHz CPU
- Non-Tegra GPU (everyone seems to hate Tegra)
- 1 GB RAM
- Slightly bigger screen
- Slightly bigger capacity battery
The first two cons are killers for me. You install 2 or 3 games and bye-bye 1 GB. I also like my screen to be scratch resistant. But it's a good suggestion nonetheless!
5mpx or 8mpx it doesnt matter on phone sizes sensors.
3D photos and videos are such a nice gimmick
1 gb internal storage - 10. class micro sd and switching internal with external.
Cons for me would be no gorrila glass and colors are nowhere near o2x.

In my opinion the readability is great, but I can't compare it to the other devices you are asking about because I've never owned them... but compared to my last phone (LG GT540) it's really great!
I've just tried radio because of you, I had never tried it before And I can tell you it works perfectly.

Flashing a custom ROM will get rid of any carrier logos + preloaded carrier apps
That's why I like it too
Flashing a custom rom (Temasek's Kang is very good, stable, smooth everythings working and the camera app can be replaced with the stock one but improved for 1080p video) will remove all the branding.
Root is like admin right in Windows, rooting a phone is like giving admin rights in windows, it can be used to remove branded apps (with titanium backup for example) but only apps.
For the HTC build quality, it seems that for the previous generation, there was too much model, many high end, many middle, many entry level models and the phone inferior to 300€ are just entry level so crappy material. That's why for 2012 there is only 3 phones, one for each price level.
For the quality of the 2X P990, it was marketed as an high end phone and build quality is not cheap, especialy that it have gorilla glass (optimus black too).
There was bad feedback for first batch but i bought mine 2 weeks ago (bought in France, the box all in german called LG Optimus Speed, made in Korea) and no problem.
For the camera quality, the back plastic that protect the camera is a fingerprint lover. I just wipe it on a sleeve, cristal clear.
The only dual core phone at 300€, just that.

Are you happy with your Lg 2x?

So the time has passed. Updates have come(?). Overall are you happy with your Lg 2x? I am certainly not.
I am not happy with my 2X. Battery drain so quickly, looking for upgrade for iPhone 5 after possibly it gets launch in October or November.
Bought mine in march 2011. If you asked me this in april last year, i would have said yes.
But now, NO! I almost hate my phone, waiting for the SGS3 to be available.
i am wondering why aren't you happy..
i got my phone very cheap and i couldn't get near the specs even with double the money. I am running CM9 and even in this not finished state it runs smoothly and the battery lasts 2 days easy
Why in particular are you unhappy?
the stock froyo was crap, i'd agree with that. but since I'm running cm9, the phone is incredibly smooth and battery life is also great.
just curious
Batterylife is terrible! signal is very unstable when on 3G. I paid full price, i preordered it. I admit, i use the phone alot. Not playing games, but surfing, email, all the stuff a smartphone is smart at. But most of the time it is sitting in the charger. Off screen 0,5%-1%/hour.
If i got it for 250€ then i would be satisfied. I paid too much when comparing it to other phone just a month after.
I did not have reboots or black screens of death the first couple of months. It started to be very annoying in the beginning of this year.
I am quite happy with my o2x, just got it very recently(You might ask why with all the new phones coming out etc, well this phone was much cheaper than any other dual core phone/phone with similar hardware and it seemed to have decent support on here which it does). I am running CM9 on it and it is very smooth, sure battery life isn't too great, but it isn't too bad. Not sure why people are unhappy with it besides the battery life, but honestly you won't get that much better on most other phones. Perhaps it is because you got it for quite a expensive price when it was first released and expected more or something or you are comparing it to newer, more expensive phones?
There currently are satisfied with this phone.
I have not had problems, I had installed many custom rom on it.
The only thing that bothers me is support from LG on the update.
I got it through a series of trades, overall money spent: 150€ ~ 200$
For that price it is a great phone but i don't like it very much. Stock firmware is ugly and updates are slow. With custom roms it is a very nice phone, very smooth and with high battery performance.
On the other side i don't like soft touch buttons (too much space occupied) and the overall design (iphone-like)
Very happy with my phone, i bought it in may or june on contract with Orange and it works out that the phone cost me £168... bargain as you would struggle to get something like a wildfire for that price back then!. But i would be even happier if we had ICS officially now and actually had resources to work with so even better third party roms could be made.
Sometimes i do feel that i just WANT to leave the custom ROM area, sometimes i do just want my phone to WORK it works most of the time but theres a fair amount of slow downs and it can get annoying, but value for money i cant fault it!.
u guys compplaining about the o2x, but i can tell you, my friend has a sgs2 and its battery life is far worse than mine, funny if u consider mine is clocked 200 mhz higher than his and theyr both tegra 2. plus i have never even seen a sgs2 even get close to an o2x, even in every benchmark o2x wins by far especialy in graphics, btw ill leave you some screenshots so u can take your own conclusions. btw, this is only my view not sayinng its an absolute truth but still its awesome to see sgs2 oc'd to 1.5 ghz lose in performance to a 1.4 ghz o2x XD
It is a good phone for apps but the odd radio issues still baffle me.
Data can't be reactivated after being disabled for some time.
GPS, Bluetooth and 3G seems to have some warfare, the radio crashes sometimes when i use my A2DP with maps.
And for most people these issues probably will never happen for them.
EDIT: Another thing to add is that the built quality is great, i like the curved glass edges and the camera is really good.

I'm quite happy with my o2x. Running self kang cm7 stable as rock with good battery life. Tonns of features ....
I'm gonna sit till cm9 comes with hwa. Till then cm7 still my daily driver.

Apart lg sucky support and update the phone is good and im happy with it but i would buy another lg device considering lgs reputation now, might go with huawei new quad core device.
Yes
Yes, i've just installed CM9 on my 2x and it's working great.
I've paid a very low price for this phone and i couldn't expect anything better for that price, at least here in Brazil.
The phone has some bugs, such as loss of signal and battery drain, but it's nothing that makes me hate the phone
Nah, I can't say I am happy with my 2X. ****ty LG support which results in bad performance despite good hardware. Very fast battery drain. Random shutdowns oder sleeps of death where I have to take battery out.
The phone (O2X) rocks, its just that the company "LG" sucks (BIG TIME)
As many have stated, it is comparitively cheaper than its competitors having similar or better specs, we're just let down on the software department thanks to LG but even then with great developers around here, it just makes it on par with the rest.
Been using MIUI till recently and now Temasek's ROM, its running really great and I'm glad to have such support from these devs around.
Basically the bad support and sub-sub optimal stock ROM makes the phone crappy. Hardware-wise it's great.
