[SOLVED] Extraction Problem for NoDo Radio (have screenshot) - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I downloaded the NoDo radio for my phone from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD7/Radios I go to extract the files and got a WinRAR Diagnostics window showing 'Error- Operation failed'. Is this a big deal? I've attached a screenshot. Thx

make sure you have the latest version of WinRAR.
i used a new(er), better compression type with all of the Radios.
if that doesn't work, i suggest 7-zip or ExtractNow.

welcome, glad to hear that worked.

New Roadblock..."Rapitool has stopped working"
I was following Step #13 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068.
Repro Steps:
- In the stock folder of the radio file I double clicked on the file and chose to open with HD7_RUUWrapper00 like the instructions say.
- Went thru the couple screens of the tool and launched the action then received the error that Rapitool has stopped working....what now?

Still get the 'rapitool as stopped working error' but now with a different error screen in the actual program. I tried doing Run as Admin since this is pc is running crap Vista but that didn't make a difference (Run as admin sometimes fixed crashing issues with Blackberry's desktop software on Vista...was worth a shot =/...I hate Vista but this isn't my PC, thankfully LOL)

do you have the device in the Bootloader?
if that is so...
try re-downloading both the Radio and task00.

Yep, the rainbow looking screen is up and USB is displaying in the white section. I'm plugged straight into the PC but I'm going to try another USB port. I'm running off the front since the cord is kinda short. I know it's usually better to run off the back. I'll keep you posted of course

No dice on the port change, checked to make sure Power Mgmt to all root hubs was off too....re-downloading I guess D: Gahhh what an A**pain LOL Anti-virus is ESET NOD32...it usually doesn't give any issues but I'll disable it before downloading just to eliminate that variable. Be back in a bit....
**EDIT** Just a thought...the fact that I upgraded my phone out of the box to Mango manually couldn't possibly be causing this???

nope, Mango update won't be a cause of issue.
also, you needn't keep posting screenshots, just need to know Error numbers.
also, is WMDC/Activesync installed?
if not, this could be the reason for the Rapitool error.

It's still crashing after re-downloading...and about to get on my last nerve...

Sorry saw your post as my went up...
I haven't seen anything referencing the WMDC/Activesync. Where do I look for that (i'll be looking in the forums while waiting for your reply) ? 10-4 on the screenshots...just figured it'd help to see exactly what I'm seeing.
**EDIT** Duh I know what Activesync is...just took minute to register. Don't see it installed on here so I'll get that. Pretty sure it was uninstalled when we were messing with Blackberry's in the past bcs Active Sync was something else that interfered with Blackberry desktop at one point in time. I used to work for RIM tier 3 support so we (We=my friend that still works there and I) have probably gotten rid of a few things needed for WP7 stuff that wasn't necessary for Blackberry...but anyway...it's downloading...

It won't start anymore! Help!

I just have this phone, the SPV M700 for a few days. With the Orane brand on it. I also have the SPV M500 (Magician) with big-storage rom on it. So I thought I would know how to do this, but apparently I dont?
I want to update and want to remove the CID and Sim-lock. But first things first, so I want to run Hard-SPL.
So I have downloaded the Hard-SPL file and run it. When I do this, everything goes like it should till the tri-color screen on my pda. After that I get this error in windows (XP):

En I got this screen on my PDA:
So something goes wrong. I have this also when I try to flash to a Orange rom (I have an Dutch rom on the PDA but I also get this message when try to flash it to an English ROM from Orange. And every other rom) When I put out the battery for 3 sec or just simply do a soft-reset everything seems to work like it did before the I tried flash.
Can someone plz help me, I don't know what to do!
I again got the error with Hard-SPL but someone said to me he had that to and he just went to the next step. So I did to. This time it seemed to work because progress balk was going until 22%. Then it stopped. I did a repair as it was described in the flashing program and now it doesn't start anymore. It goes until this screen and not further:
I can do a hard reset but it still stucks on the same screen. WHAT NOW??
I first get this screen, and just before the text (M 05 / B 05 / D 1.23) disappears, the text NO GSM comes in the blue-area above the D 1.23
This is there for I think half a second and then I have the screen as in my post above.
I have read that I can try 3 things.

You can try 2 other things!
Download the Radio ROM again- you may have had a downlaod glitch in the 1st one. V1.38 is the best one to try.
Download and install the offical HTC WM5 ROM- this should be a full ROM including Radio, so sometimes completes more effectively. If you are brave, you can them retry the WM6 flash!

since bricking a hermes i stopped taking chances doing rom upgrades via usb..
the method that is most reliable ad safe is... via SD card
extract RUU_signed file from the upgrade pack (use winrar) and then copy it to the root of a blank sd (mini or micro etc) and rename to TRINIMG.nbh ..enter bootloader and follow the steps.. its fast and most reliable

I think that trying the first thing is the best? Retrying to install a new Radio Rom. He suggest to use version V1.38. Is this still the best rom to try it with? Or can I better take a newer/older one?
And where can I find these Radio Roms?

If you don't want to install automatically, or for some reason the process doesn't work for you, here are the manual instructions:
Transfer SSPL/SSPL-TRIN.exe to your phone and run it
Tri-color screen will appear
Disable activesync (file -> connection settings -> uncheck "allow USB connections")
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
Run RUU/ROMUpgradeUtility.exe
Follow the flashing process (Check the "I understand..." and "I completed..." boxes and update!)
Allow your phone to reboot.
Transfer TRIN_Unlock_v1.exe program to your phone and run it
Click the Unlock Button, select unlock option. Select if you want SIM/CID unlock.
Click "Unlock!" and wait until process finishes.
When done, turn off your phone for 10 seconds and reboot after that.

Wow i thought i was the only one with this problem...Its weird because first time i flashed with touch it rom, everything went fine but i wanted to upgrade it v2.3 and thats when it happen..I kept getting this "unknown Status" on my phone..so i just put back the orginal RUU...Even thou am about to try the new swipe it.
Hey guyz
I just finish trying flahing the rom with Swipe IT v1.0, and the same thing happen i get the unknown status error...Now, i dont know whats wrong . I guess there is steal a file inside my phone that doest not want to delete and is not letting flash other rom..i really dont know..What you guyz think...By the way, im using "RUU_Atlas_TMO_US_4[1].10.531.3_4.1.13.37_02.83.90_Ship" to make bring back my original phone..Is there another of these, an update or something like that.
Guys, you're SUPPOSED to get that unknown status error. Wait until the Batch file on the computer tells you it's done. See if it had any errors. If it didn't, hold down the two softkeys and reset the device. It will ask you to press the send key to hard reset the device. Do so. There you go, when it boots, you'll have a new ROM.
If you need to go back to the stock RUU if you accidently screw up the flash, hold down the camera as you press the reset button.
Also, don't forget to install Aserg's Policies FIRST and SOFT RESET by holding down the POWER button until it asks you to reset. DO THIS FIRST OR IT WILL NOT WORK.

What error is everyone getting? You have to be more specific. You have to turn off the device the way I mentioned after installing Aserg's Policies or it will NOT take effect.
As far as Pabajo, you actually gave me a real error:
That error is just telling you that you don't have an os.nb file in that directory.

Turn off and then on. That way, it forces the device to save its registry before cutting off completely.

Ok, I am a complete noob to flashing a rom, but not new to technology, computers, etc. I have done tons of registry tweaks, the page pool, etc., but I am ready to upgrade from the lousy rom that came stock with my phone. I tried the original touch-it and got no where. This one looks really awesome so I decided I would give it a shot, but it just runs through the stuff on the screen in like two seconds and says to hard reset, but I know it should take longer per everyone elses posts. And, nothing changes on my phone. This is what I have done step-by-step, can someone please tell me if I have done something wrong.
Hard reset my phone so it was as if just came out of the box.
Connected to active sync as a guest on my windows xp laptop.
Copied ASerg Policies.cab to my phone, no specific place specified so I just copied it to program folder and then ran it from there and installed it to the device.
Soft reset my device by holding down the power key until it asked me if I wanted to power off.
I clicked on 1_Upgrade_Rom.bat on my computer and pressed any key to continue.
It was literally done running in under a second and basically my computer screen looked exactly like the one an earlier poster showed. No change on my wing screen.
It said to hard reset, which I did by holding down the two softkeys and inserting the stylus in the soft reset slot.
When it finished doing all its stuff, it ends up being the same old stock t-mobile rom.
Am I missing something? Is there something else I am supposed to do first to prepare my device? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

What version of windows do you have? It sounds like you're getting file errors.

Flashing tomorrow, do I have everything?

Okay, so I decided on Romeos 4.1. I am trying to make sure i have everything, but I am getting a little confused. When i downloaded the No_radio romeos 4.1, unraring i get the rom and a KaiserCustomRUU.exe. Is that(.exe) my hard spl??
Do I need anything else?
I assume I may need the jump spl, but just not sure.
THanks for helping a first timer flasher guy.
No

download any version of your choice, install it first *VERY IMPORTANT*
then install romeos 4.1, dont forget to get a compatable radio with that, or just download the one with a radio.

Please do not take offense to this... But if you really don't know the answer to that question, you are not ready to flash your phone. Go back to the Kaiser Wiki and read on up all the information there.
No offense taken. I develop medical software for a what i call "monopoly" healthcare company. However, reading up on what needs to be done to simply flash a phone, keeps taking me in circles.
Read the ENTIRE Wiki section on flashing your phone, it'll save you a LOT of problems. Seriously, don't do it blindly. You could do like some silly folks have done and flash a ROM or Radio with a SPL Flasher, etc, which will cause you problems. There's a lot of smart people here who can problem help recover your phone but save yourself the trouble!
Personally, here's an outline of what I did:
Decide which software you want to reinstall, make sure you have all of your serial numbers and cabs on hand.
Also I suggest writing down any 'complicated' settings so you can get back to work without too much fiddling.
Backup and get original ROM and Radio (just in case I needed to go back)
Hard Reset
Install HardSPL 3.29 (as suggested by the ROMeOS Cook), verify it's installed
Install ROMeOS 4.2 (it's coming in a few days, I'd wait..)
Install a suggested radio (he lists three in his thread)
Hard reset again
Reinstall your software by hand (don't try to restore from backup)

The steps listed in the post above are the exact process you need to follow. Just go to the Wiki and research each bullet-point listed. Until last week there was no section in the Wiki for the 3.xx HardSPL's, so I added it.
As long as you understand the process outlined above, you will not fail.
I know that when I started for the first time I was a bit worried about the out come and I felt confused. It's hard to accept that what is in the wiki is all that you need, and it's also hard to see that it's very simple when you see pages and pages of things. When I flashed back in Nov. for the first time, the instructions were so good that they took you through pretty much every screen..
Didn't there used to be a Youtube video on this?
You guys are the best. No matter how dumb my questions are(and they are), i have yet to hear a smart-a$$ remark back, which is nice, and shows people are willing to help.
I think khaytsus outlined everything i wanted, and will try when 4.2 comes out. I did go through a tutorial from the at&t forums, with a bunch of files to make the OS look like an iphone, and it is really cool. Baby steps i say.
I hope to fully flash, and get into the nitty gritty this week when 4.2 comes out!
:O)
ensure HardSpl installed
use a labtop (avoid power failure, short circuits)
have a shipped rom handy nearby - first use of cooked roms may be different so have a plan B
dont worry we are here for support
best of luck

2. Copy Jump/Soft to your device. It can be downloaded here
3. Take out your SD card & SIM Card. (you can take these out before you start step 1)
4. Run Jump/Soft SPL on your device <-- you have to navigate to the program called "JumpSPL1.56-KAIS" and click it (it will be an icon of kermit the frog)
5. Wait for the bootloader screen to appear and "USB" to show on your Kaiser.
6. Right-click activesync (at the bottom right of your computer screen, usually), go into connection settings and make sure Allow USB Connections is unchecked
7. Unplug your device from the USB port, wait 5 - 20 seconds, plug it back in.
8. Run KaiserCustomRUU.exe and flash this SPL from your desktop
*Directions taken from kyphur's FAQ posted here. It's post #2*
By the way, one other detail (I'll update my original post too), I personally have always preferred SD Card updates. Always seems like there's less to go wrong.
The HardSPL (afaik) must be done via USB, but once that's done, you can follow instructions to update the ROM or Radio via USB or SD.
Seems to me that SD updates are faster and you can do them 'on the fly', particularly the radio.. I've read of people who change radio perhaps a couple times a day, it only takes a few minutes with the SD card.
I am pretty sure I did it in that exact order. I will try it one more time to see though.

Please don't hijack threads. Your issue should be posted in the HardSPL thread in the ROM Development section.
sorry i thought my issue would be related since I was stuck on one of the steps he was asking about in his original post and b/c he is flashing the same ron i wish to flash i figured this would be a valid thread to post in and b/c if i did something he might end up doing as well then maybe he can learn from my mistake.

ROTFLMAO!!!! At least he understands proper use of the . Now lets work on proper sentence structure. Was the above post an interrogative or declarative statement?

Touch pro2 stuck at tricolor bootloader screen

OK i tried getting help at the hardspl thread but just getting a generic answer.
I was wondering if there is anyone who can point me in the right direction or hold my hand so to say with step by step instruction on possibly fixing the problem i currently have.
here is what i had performed to get to where i am at right now.
I had my phone hardspl. been flashing different roms then stayed with one. then today my phone wasnt able to activesync and the usb wasnt being recognized so i wasnt able to activesync, or use phone as a disk drive or internet sharing but the phone would still charge through usb. i called tmobile they are sending me a phone ill get it in about a week in the meantime i need to make this one back to stock.
So i downloaded and flashed the tmobile stock rom which i found here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550975 after that was installed.
I then downloaded the tmobile splash screen which was provided in a link found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4592520&postcount=163
i then downgraded the radio.
after doing all that all what was left was to change the hardspl to relock to spl. well being that my usbport was not being detected by computer to use activesync being that your phone needs to be synced in order to use the rhodiumsplrelocker.exe program. so i ran the program and when the files showed up from the program i took the RUU_signed.nbh file and moved it into another folder and renamed it to rhodimg.nbh and placed on my memory card thinking this would relock the phone using the sd card loader method..
I ran it and then the phone frooze. it rebooted and when it did this is what shows up
When i try to put the stock rom image file back on my memory card as i was told to do... after the first screen with the tricolor it then goes into a second screen with the words loading and thats it...i let it run like this for 20minutes and there was no change. heres what that screen looks like
is there anyone who may help me i would appreciate it greatly. ill be willing to make a donation to you for a solution that really works.
Connect to your device via MTTY (delete the NBH on your SD for good measure), and in the MTTY terminal, simply type this command:
Code:
[FONT=Courier New][B]set 16 0[/B][/FONT]
After that, it should boot back to Windows Mobile just fine. Good luck

can you send me the mtty program or send me a link or direct me to where i can get this mtty program much appreciated
edit: i tried mtty program and its not working. the program needs to access the usb port on phone. the first problem i was having was that the computer was no longer to read the usb port on phone due to a problem with the usb hardware. so any fix that may require a usb to computer connection may not work...if theres a way to put a file on the memory card that would work to fix or to have it boot to windows without going into the loader all the time that would help.
I just looked at the pictures in the first post, and that SPL is the shipping SPL, and not HardSPL. Therefore, it doesn't matter if the phone boots or not, since you've made everything stock, and they have nothing on you. You can just say that your phone started doing this and you don't know why, and if you play dumb, they'll have no reason to suspect otherwise.
you need to find a computer with a working usb port. Mtty is your best way out of this. It's a pretty simple problem that you have actually. mtty can be quirky so don't give up!

I have the same problem and the issue isn't our computer is the actual MINI USB port on the phone that no longer works
Um, i hate to tell you, but that same thing happened to me. I got it all back to stock, called HTC , sent it in for repair, they kept it for 45 freeking days. I just got it back. Cost $20.
Good luck. I tried everything before sending it in. Nothing worked.
Im just wondering if sending it to T-mobile that way would cause a charge to me
usb not working
ok this is for everyone who has tried to help and i really do appreciate it. but one thing people seem to keep forgetting about is you have to remember the USB PORT on the phone has MALFUNCTIONED meaning it doesnt work anymore. So for those of you who have come up with try using MTTY program...well the thing is you need to have a working USB in order for that to even work. so as i have mentioned before is there any program out there that would help by trying some rebooting program you can install on the memory card or what would really help is if the people who made the hardspl and the splrelocker would make a splrelocker program that can all be run off of the memory card with no need for the USB port because if and when that usb port is no longer working and you need to return for warranty reasons then it would be a great help being you can still relock the spl even with a non working usb port.
ok, so everybody started out not being able to activesync due to a malfunctioning mini-USB port.
If this was the case, how was anyone able to downgrade the spl in preparation for a return.... which normally requires a working MiniUSB connection?
Are you absolutely sure this isn't the (more common) PnP-doesn't-recognize-the-port issue?

when i first received the phone ... yes the usb port was functioning well and i was able to hardspl my phone... and everytime i would flash a rom i would put the rhodimg.nbh file on the root of my memory card and do the hold volume button down and hit the reset button allowing me to boot to the tricolor screen without the need for activesync or usb to flash a rom. during the use and life of my phone the usb port malfunctioned maybe from wear and tear who knows...so even with the usb dying im still able to flash roms to my phone through the memory card which i could use a memory card reader to put the rhodimg.nbh file onto and then put memory card into phone and reboot the phone while holding down the voldown button still letting me access the bootloader screen without the need for usb. so my thing is if a problem develops during this process how do you fix it when the usb no longer works.
So your SPL isn't downgraded then? That would make sense given the problem you cite. I'm hoping you say that it is because that means there's still hope b/c I don't know of a way to do the downgrade from SD. The only way you can communicate with the BL is through the USB port afaik.

Correct me if im wrong, the screen where he is stuck (See screenshot post #1), looks like original SPL? If so, how can T-Mobile even notice it has been reflashed? What im trying to say is, if he just play dumb, he should get warrantee just fine, since it looks all original to me.
good point... looks like yours is one option. Still perplexing how the downgrade could have occurred with a bad miniUSB port... There are some real quirks getting mtty to connect. Some of them had to do with getting USB active on the BL screen... I haven't used the utility since I had my TyTN in the days before soft/hardSPL however.

ok, well, do you have a GSM tp2? or a CDMA/GSM one? because it says RHOD500 modelid on the screen but I'm not convinced that you actually have a CDMA worldphone...
if you are not sure, then tell me what carrier the device is from, that'll give me a hint if it's GSM or CDMA/GSM.

[Q] Not downgrading at all

Ok guys, I'm finally biting the bullet and I'm gonna ask you guys. Been through too many forums and none have worked. So I bought my HD7 off my friend who has had it since before Mango. He updated it before he gave me it.
The attached pics have the specs on them.

It is an O2 UK locked phone. The 16GB model.
Every time I try to downgrade the SPL I end up with some kind of error. Mostly Error 260 or if it's different, it'll be close to that number. It always says stuff like communication error and connection error. I'll get more specific details on the errors tomorrow but long story short, nothing works.
Is there anyone out there with a similar problem or who knows how to fix this?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm being a noob,
Huzi
Also, can a mod move this to Q&A? Just realised where I've posted. My bad.

Ok.
Not sure what method you're trying to downgrade with.. I'll give you a run down on them and how it works.
Your SPL has to be at or lower than 3.xxx to install RSPL/HSPL, (which is required to install a custom rom) once that's achieved then you can install a custom rom of your choice.
Theses are the only methods available to downgrade SPL 5.xxx
SLSPL by Ansar- If your trying this method it won't work, your firmware revision # doesn't match, it has to .401
Goldcard/ Y cable method - Requires a Y cable, either home made or purchased, a card reader and a clean/wiped small 1gb to 4gb SD card formatted to FAT32 (larger gb cards will work but have to be formatted to FAT32 and partitioned) or a flash drive and download the goldcard tool and a stock/shipped Pre-NoDo or NoDo rom.. The card reader works better though. Putt the rom on the SD card, patch it with the goldcard tool, put the device in USB host mode, connect the Y cable and the flash process will begin. Your spl should be lowered to 3.xxx or lower, then you can install RSPL/HSPL and flash a custom rom. Tutorials here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597837
Zune restore point. Since your buddy had the phone before Mango, you can restore the device to a Pre-Mango state,(you will have to use the computer he did it on) this won't downgrade the SPL, but the re-update process process through Zune will change the SPL to 4.xxx just before it reinstalls Mango. The key here is, the device has to be updated all the way back to Mango and the device will reboot twice, once to change the SPL to 4.xxx and once to install Mango, at that point you have to stop the update process before the the next update is installed which is the HTC Firmware update, if you install that then it will change the SPL back to 5.xxx. Once the device is back on SPL 4.xxx then you can flash a stock/shipped Pre-NoDo or NoDo rom (via bootloader mode) and lower the SPL to 3.xxx or lower, install RSP/HSPL and then flash a custom rom. Zubair's tutorial here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362194
You can follow Shadows full step by step tutorial on how to, Downgrade SPL, flash XSPL and install a custom rom. It has all the links for Goldcard, Zune restore method and all the stock/shipped roms and radios.

Ansar's method failed bit time. I was rather hoping to not go down the y cable route but it looks like I'll have to try. The reason I didn't wanna do it is coz I cannot strip down wires to save my life Although I didn't know you could purchase one. The Zune restore wouldn't work either coz his computer died a while ago (the psu blew) and he just threw it out without realising he could have kept the hard drive. Also, is the goldcard method different to the y cable method or is the y cable the way to use the goldcard tool?

Basically they are the same...The Y cable is used for the goldcard method, but you can also use just the Y cable method without patching the rom with the goldcard tool. Seems as thought the goldcard method is more successful.
You can check on Amazon to purchase the Y cable, should run around $5
Ok so I tried the Ansar's method once again and I'm getting an error 260. I've tried restarting and even factory resetting the phone and restarting my PC as suggested but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Do you have windows mobile device center installed on your PC? It installs the proper drivers for the device to sync to the PC.
Make sure that the drivers installed properly for the device when it's in bootloader mode. It installs a different set of drivers for it in bootloader mode than when the device is just on and synced to the PC.
Error 260 is open connection error.
Try this.. click on the .nbh file, drag and drop it to the RUUwrapper, (it should highlight and say "open file with") the RUUwrapper will open and follow the prompts on the screen.
Hopefully that will work for you.

It's no problem man!
Ok.. That's good it installed the Qualcomm drivers, that's a step in the right direction.
Start fresh and close out all the programs on the PC, even Zune and disconnect your device.
Open the whole SLSPL folder and reconnect the device to the PC, wait for it to sync, (it may even install more drivers) "Serial" in the white section of BL mode will change to "USB" now and then just the double click on the RUUwrapper. it should work!

Could it be because my phone is the o2 UK model? Could I just use an older o2 UK RUU to downgrade?

Mine was doing the same thing yesterday when I downgraded my replacement phone. I was trying it with a SD card reader and a 8gb flash drive (I even partitioned it down to 1gb) and both of them were going through the loop from "Enter USB host mode, to Loading, then to bootloader mode."
So I went and bought a SanDisk 5 in 1 SD card reader and as soon as I hooked it up everything worked and updated the device.
You might want to try a different card reader and see if that works.
