For some reason when I try switching to sd3 from cm7 I can't seem to get to the boot animation. Data cache and system were all wiped then flashed the zip but it wouldn't come up and I can't figure out y. Any ideas? I'm using safestrap and things were all unfrozen

Check the MD5, maybe a bad download.

I know you don't have to wipe to upgrade to a CM nightly, but should I get Google Apps again when prompted to in ClockworkMod?

If it's the same version that you already have, then there's no point...
If it's a newer version, then go for it...
Latest version can usually be found here:

Thanks a lot. I need my flashing fix so I'm going to start doing nightlies. I just can't wait for final.

Flashed it without the GAPPS and upon rebooting they weren't there. I just downloaded them from the link, flashed, and now I'm setting them up. I guess it deletes all of your login info. No biggie, easy stuff.
Sorry, if you're doing a full wipe, then you will need to reflash the gapps. I seldom wipe on the nightlies...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Oh no I didn't wipe, that's why I thought it was strange. No biggie.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
its a RM shortcoming.. you have to select gapps at that prompt or reboot into recover and manually flash just the ROM.. otherwise your gapps dont survive
Got it!

I was looking at the Cyanogen site, and few people have been commenting on some of the latest nightlies removing the gapps (presumably overwriting the whole system folder).
No biggie, and not a common occurrence...

clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.0
checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
restoring boot image...
restoring system...
Error while formatting /system!
any help would be appreciated [email protected]
probably a corrupt sd partition.
cwm is known top do that..
try formatting your sd card after saving the content to your pc first.
after format move stuffs back
I would go ask this question in the mytouch 4G section you will probably get better answers.
Whenever I flash a cm7 zip settings shows in app drawer with a generic icon, and its name is com.android.settings.SETTINGS. any calls to settings causes settings to FC.
This started after I flashed the cm7rc2. Had no probs with cm7 until then. But now ANY cm7 flashes with these results.
I can take the settings.apk from the zip and adb push it to the system app directory, and it's dandy after a reboot. But they never flash in right anymore.
Tested w/cm6.1, and cm6.2 vanilla, and even ruu'd & re-rooted.
Used clockwork 2.5.0.7, 3.0.0.5, amon ra, and darch Godspeed. All provide same results.
Yes, when permitted I am formatting boot, system, data, cache, dalvik, and rebooting recovery.
So... who's got something for me? Ideas?

You said you formatted, what about wipe/factory reset? Also, what else are you flashing? ROM,gapps, kernel, tweaks, apps, etc.? Could be a bid zip, try redownloading, try all the CM7 variants, aosp, nightly, RC2?
All wipes and formats, Each zip I tried was downloaded on phone and 3 computers. No tweaks, kernels or gapps.
Same results.
Edit:
Actually, if I flash gapps, it boots to setup, but touching the android is not recognized, so I'm stuck there.

Oh, did all that. Including different sdcard.
Thanks

3/10 had settings.apk load correctly. But the keyboard FC'S constantly, and the RomManager.apk doesn't install at all during flash.
Anyone else had these problems with 2.3.3?

yes i think i has this problem too
I have cm7 on my phone, recently I've been trying to flash a nightly on my cappy and after the install "about phone" still shows the old mod. ROM manager also shows the old mod as my "current ROM"
I've tried reflashing, and even downloading onto my computer copying it to my card and trying to install through recovery and get stuck in bootloop. Ive deleted old mods from the download folder and Ive also tried different nightlies and have the same problem. Any help is appreciated

..and you've done the basic clearing your caches, data and dalvik? You may want to try a fac reset. That fixes a lot of problems sometimes
.. for the future you should post in the cm7 q&a's. Even if it is a nightly
Yeah, Ive done the wipes and caches. I guess I'll try fac reset. Thank you for the help

I know, my friends think I'm crazy. So I'm thinking I could flash back to stock and then start over? So, to do this I need to flash the stock Rom using Odin with repartitioning, correct? I'm assuming I can't use Odin jf6 one click because it doesn't repartition, or does it?

Yeah.. Odin one click JF6 does the repartition. I've flash back to stock a few times using that method and the last time being just a couple weeks ago. That is about your best bet. Odin back to stock.. get cwm and flash nightly. Its gotta stick then... you'd think

okay so im stuck in unsafe mode, i have stock rom on safe and eclipse 2.2 on unsafe, i was trying to toggle to safe system and it backs up data normally then in the restoring data it says, "restore error!" i tried again and again with uninstalling safe strap. and i have no backups in safe system, just unsafe, oops.
Had the same problem with eclipse. I think it is a known issue though. Some people had luck uninstalling then installing again in the safestrap app.
ok cool ill try that
It didnt work... any other ideas?

What did ya do?
I have oat's CM10 installed but want to flash CM9 to use adobe flash. Whenever I try to install a CM9 ROM, I get stuck in an endless boot loop when I try to load it. I have tried the newest CM9 nightly and SGA's fat n creamy, and both get stuck in an endless boot loop. Here is what I do exactly:
Open TWRP, wipe system, cache, and dalvik, install ROM, install GAPPS, reboot.
Then it gets stuck in an endless boot loop.
Not sure if it matters, but every ROM I install (including CM10) can't find an MD5 file. Is this important? It doesn't seem to matter with CM10.

I would try wiping data as well.
Just install this version of flash on CM10:

I got it from here:

Works on Jelly Bean.
