Hi all! This is my first post! Gratz for the good job you all guyz are doing with android mods and of course our x8!
I have a problem with my X8 ( gingerdx v020, alf v05)..i connect to pc via usb and when im choosing to mount sd card on phone then it says that safe remove sd msg on android and nothing happens on pc...I did factory reset on x8, try again and nothing...always "safe remove card" msg.. Can you help me plz???
EDIT ok i can mount the sd card on pc in CWM recovery....But can i mount it without recovery??
I had this "problem" aswell, but it just turned out you need to install the vold update from the Alfs topic
If you read more carefull, you'd see it's mentioned in the first post aswell

i installed latest cwm . rooted via SuperOneClick ..
downloaded a rom ..
reboot in recovery ..
than i want to open the update.zip .. but the recovery akways says error .. cant mount /sdcard
what should i do ? i can watch my vids and pictures if i start up the phone normal .. so i must work .. normally ..
by the way .. i dont bought an extra sd card .. i only use the internal 8 gb space .. but that should not be the problem ... ?

1. Power off phone
2. Power on and hold volume down key to boot straight to recovery
3. Try flash again
Might be wrong here but I thought that to flash a rom you put it on the exteranl sd card and reboot in to recovery and then choose install zip from sdcard and then choose your file. there are a few files which you rename to "update.zip" and follow the process you have done but I sure a rom flash isn't that way.

OP cannot mount sd-card in recovery. What I mentioned was a workaround to enable mounting of sd-card. Once OP is able to mount sd-card then he is able to flash rom.
You need a physical SD to flash via CWM...

Yeah that's right you should put the whatever.zip somewhere on an external SD card. CWM cannot mount internal SD yet...
(just summarizing hat you guys above me said because OP might get confused )

edit : other question .. i saw in the MoDaCo Fear rom that u need a new baseband ...
how do i change/update my baseband?

can somebody pls help me... why does my sd card always show "safe to remove" when i tun on usb storage?
it's pretty frustrating when i always have to remove the back cover of my phone just to get my sd card and plug it to a card reader to a computer just to transfer files.
i already turned on debugging mode, is it some sort of rom problem or kernel thingy?

I tried to install update+chrgemon in alfs page via cwm. but when i did it says "aborted cant mount SD card" what to do now...
and i think i dont have swap. cuz i just installed a new rom.

I cant use my SD Card after flashed alfs v06 and installed gingerdx 021.
When i plug usb cable into phone and click "Turn usb storage" i get "you can safely remove SD Card" and then the "Turn usb storage" screen reappears. My PC Companion doesnt even detect my phone.
I can acces my sd card using file manager.
how can i copy stuff on my sd card?
are you instal after flash kernel update chargemon its on first post in alfs thread if not than back to stock kernel and put to you sd update chargemon flash alfs kernel clear dalwik and cache in cwm and instal update

I have problem with sd card mounting and alfs 5
I can't mount SD card to computer while having SWAP file enabled.
which is kind of logic because swap is a file on SD card and system uses it as RAM.
enabling swap partition should fix the problem because only FAT partition should be mounted to computer and phone could continue to use SWAP.
SD EXT partition should be better to use instead of built in app2sd, because phone could continue to use Apps while SD FAT partition is mounted to comp.
I'm not sure all thisl is true, because I didn't try it. but, from how I understood what I read, it should be like that.
i installed chargemon update from alfs first page and everything works fine
hope i wont get random reboots anymore
sorry I forgot that chargemon and vold update is one update.
It's actually vold update you need for sd card to work, chargemon is to be able to charge phone when it's off. At least I understood it that way.
But all I said does happen to me, so that may help somebody other.
Hi guys, i was trying to find a solution and i think i made it. It's not that everything is connected but it did work for me.
What i did:
1. settings/application settings/ unknown sources - ON
2. settings/application settings/Development
- usb debugging - ON
- USB debugging notify -ON
- Allow mock locations - ON
3. Reboot in CWM recovery
- go to mount and storage (important!!)
- mount /sdcard
- go back, install zip from Sdcard
- choose zip from sdcard, find it and install it!!
That's it!
I have a same issue with alfs kernel (with vold/chargemon update). In my desktop pc with Win7 the phone connect, but in my laptop with Winxp cannot connect. Try this modified driver, i modified the inf file in flashtool driver, and the phone connect with alfs kernel under winxp and win7 too

i have a problem and need helps from all who had been experienced the same thing as i have now. i have trying to backup nandroid via TWRP 2.6.0.0 (before flashing MAX v12.0.0) into external sdcard but failed. then, i found my sdcard was became invisible & undetectable on the device AND i found nothing in the screen when i insert into Laptop to check. i have a lot data inside but tried many ways but still the same, folders & files are invisible. Laptop still can c the usage of the sdcard. pls help!!!:crying::crying::crying:

You have to do the process with an OTG cable and USB memory download the Rom you are installing.
i had that problem too
you should be able to see your sd card from twrp/cwm. if not i would reinstall from your computer.

hi, the problem came from the twrp recovery 2.8.6.0. i downgrade to 2.8.5.0 n everything in sdcard appear again in recovery mode.
i also test on samsung devices with 2.8.6.0 or 2.8.7.0, results are very good on samsung device. can makes copying or deletion via recovery with connecting to PC.
perhaps no one could spend times on butterfly S anymore further...
So , all what I have to do , is to change the recovery version ?
Than , the file explorer will recognize the internal memory ... ?

The problem is that it's the internal memory that have the problem , not the memory card ...

May be, you just have the "fast charge" option enabled?
What ROM and version of twrp are you using?
Also try to Fix Permissions through TWRP (Advanced > Fix Permissions)
Hello !
I wiped all Data from my phone and by mistake was the System as well :/
so i tried to instal the ROM again but it didn't read my External SD (maybe because i was using it with link 2 SD) and i had 2 part. Ext2 type primary.
anyway i used the SD on my laptop and i formatted it to Fat32 and i send the Data of ROM but still in TWRP didn't read the external SD
then i tried with Odin the phone went into loop and never did anything
now i used boot-loop but i can not instal TWRP or CMW
or maybe i just cant find the right files but once Odin Crash and once stuck by Setup connection .
please help me i need this Phone Tonight Important :/
