Galaxy not is charging till 100%. any one else face same problem? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got the galaxy note last week monday, it wasnt charging till 100% even when i left it on for hours to charge. Never charged more than 80%

Nope, it's charging up to 100% here.

Do you have your phone rooted?
Any custom roms?
Give us more details so we can actually help you!
If you got this after flashing a custom rom, try charging the phone while it's off (with the battery showing on the screen) till it's full. Leave it on the charger for about 30 more minutes just to be sure it's full. Then go inside ClockWork Recovery (while it's still on the charger) and go to Advanced > Reset Battery Stats. Then Reboot the phone and unplug the charger. Presto: you should be charged to full now and the phone will charge to full every time.
I hope this helped.

I've experienced this once but only the widgets reported the charge % inaccurately ( also got stuck at 80% ) the phone system reported 100%. Rebooted the phone and got 100% on widgets as well.

Well it just stopped at 80%, the system showed the same! I left it charging for 7 hours, it beeped that it was fully charged, but it wasnt!
I think it may be because I played with it for 20 minutes when got it rather than charging it.
I also left it on charge rather than letting the charge drop to 0% and recharging. I duno?
I went to CPW they said they will allow me to swap it. Which is good, as the stylus was coming apart.

Battery Issues!!

Ok this has been happening to me for awhile and i just want to know is this is "normal" or there is something wrong:
Lets say that my phone's battery is under %15 so i plug my cell to charge it....right? so now it has been plugged for a couple of hours and it show that is charging but very slow...and i have to wait like 8 hours to fully charge....but if i reboot my phone let say within 2 hours of charging after it reboot it shows that the battery is fully charge....is this normal?
doubt its normal but mine does the same. Charges for hours and hours but wont go past 85% but with a reboot 100% Same as if I charge it for like 30mins then reboot guess what full charge.
I had this problem at one time, it turned out I had the overclocking set to 528 at all times and this was killing the battery, even when charging. If you have this on, try turning it off. After that it was fine for me

Battery not fully charging?

Anyone notice that when the phone is charging while off and reaches 100% - when you turn on the phone, the battery drops to 98%? From there, it can still accept a charge and then FINALLY indicate the battery is full?
I do have another battery coming from AT&T (because of overheating problems) but I am just curious as to what others are experiencing.
background info - this isn't my first Captivate and I have drained this battery a couple of times to "calibrate" it.
This will sound weird but it worked wonders for me.
*Fully charge the battery with the phone on
*Unplug charger and turn off the phone
*Plug in the charger and wait until its at 100
*Now unplug the charger and boot up the phone
C*Wait until its done booting up and power down the phone.
*Now charge the phone to 100 boot up and use normally

does it make any difference? like long lasting battery hours or so...?
the memory in the batter indicats full as i believe 90% and above or something.. it's normal :T .. but try to do what the previous poster said.. it's worked for some people
I did what he recommended and don't see an improvement in battery life. But, when I unplug in the morning it stays at 100%, it definately made a difference in that regard.
I did see a slight improvement when I cycled the battery a few times. Full charge to 100% dead.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate via XDA app
if it's fairly new give it a week or two .. the battery should improve in a way.. if you're still truly dissatisfied then I guess get a new phone or buy a bigger battery .. I believe they'll have better batteries soon on ebay
I tried doing that charge/power cycle.. Once the phone was powered on it immediately dropped to 97%
This is the battery that overheats also..
Wish I could get my #2 captivate back.. I returned it because of the GPS problem - not knowing it was a global issue - I had the best battery life from that phone - 5 days of use easy on that one (without power cycling or anything) - The last 3 phones (all have been overheating) I'm lucky if I get 2 days out of them..
I keep saying phones because I was in my 30 day warranty, so every time I went in they did a complete exchange.. I am now out of my 30 day exchange.

Help! Battery won't charge past 70%

I didn't notice this problem until the day before. My battery status is displaying 70% when the phone consider it to be fully charged.
I've drain it to 5% before charging overnight, but the status still display 70%.
I am not sure if this is a problem with my phone or the battery. Any help would be nice.
Try this but you need a rooted phone for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722862
it is just a status bar bug
the battery is probably fine
use Gauge Battery Widget instead to see the real stuff
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8124361&postcount=46
Thank you for the link!! I am trying that now.
This is not the status bar problem as I've test out some of the widget.
The phone would only charge up to 70% no matter how long it will remain on the charge.
Going into the battery info in setting also indicated it is at 70%.
At this moment I am draining my phone with max brightness and everything turn on.
Start off at 70% at 9:30am and now (2:00pm) is at 3%
So I guess I should try to charge it full with the phone off
Did you recently flash firmware to your phone? Make sure your battery is fully charged whenever you flash firmware because it will clear the battery data. It seems to me all you need is a battery calibration. There is a procedure posted somewhere. IIRC, you need charg up the battery to 100%, power down, charge 100%, power up again and repeat a few times.
I had the same problem.
After a day of charging the battery fully charged notification appears. As soon as I unplug it the battery immediatly jumps to 70%.
Is there a way to fix this? Perhaps reflashing when the phone is fully charged (which is currently 70%).
I tried the rm /system/data/batterystats.bin but did not remedy this problem.
Same problem here. It has been this way for a month. Tried calibration, different batteries, different ROMS....everything.
who can help?
using alternative battery widget is not an option if battery stats from settings also displays 70% max
this is very unusual problem - i would suggest:
1) install https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration (phone needs root)
2) drain battery to 0%
3) take out battery for 5-7 minutes
4) put it back and turn on and drain again
5) repeat untill phone will not turn on
6) while still off charge phone to 100%
7) disconnect charger power on the phone, let it boot and use the battery calibration app
8) now let the phone discharge with normal usage untill it powers off (do not reboot, power off during discharge)
9) put the phone to charger, turn it on and let it charge to 100% wo reboots/poweroffs
should be fine
let me try tomorrow..I have similar issue..

Today, over night charge from 70% to 79%
have you followed my tutorial from this post -> LINK
also can you dial *#*#4636#*#* pick battery information and make a screenshot, then another after a minute or two ...
I made this thread over in the captivate forums, it explains the issues in detail

concentrate on points 2 to 5 of my 'tutorial' and for god sake use only original charger
and yes, what kernel
Hey Somator, I am trying your tutorial now. I drained my battery to 0% on my phone. I then would boot it up, it would register 1%, then turn off.
I then put my battery in a coworkers phone today and it read 40% when it previously read 0% on mine. So I depleted the battery on his phone, reinserted it into mine, and I am now currently charging it to 100% while it is off. I will let you know how the rest turns out.
I have tried calibration procedures on stock rom, MIUI, CM7, I9000, and I897 Roms.
drain the battery on his if you can and then charge on yours
after that wipe battery stats with https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
//edit: oh you did exact that - well should be fine from now - still wierd why it just 'decalibrated' by so much in the first place
the original charge has helped me, everything is fine
In case someone is looking for an answer here (considering this is the thread that comes at the top of Google's search results), this is what worked for me:
1. Take the battery out.
2. Plug phone into wall charger.
3. Put the battery back in the phone.
4. Let it charge for an hour. Mine said 5% the entire time it was plugged.
5. Remove phone from charge. Remove battery. Put them all together again.
I hope this works for others.

Pixel 5 - Charging problems

Has anyone else notice problems charging yet?
When charging using the supplied adapter, the battery percentage stops increasing at some point. 46% or 67% etc it just stays stuck even though the charging symbol remains.
The phone stays hot like it is charging, but it still says '46% 1 hour remaining to fully charge etc'. If you leave it for an hour, it stays at 46%. If you unplug and restart the phone, it will be at 100%.
I hope this is a software bug? It seems others are impacted too. google support link below.

Mine is working fine
Same error, but on 92%. I didn't restart the phone, and after 5 hours without charger battery level went down normally.

Same for me here. I'm monitoring the issue until next week and then decide what to do

Surely that just sounds like a software issue or glitch. It's not stopped charging, it's just not updated correctly?

yes it appears that way. hopefully.
Hi ! Mine is stuck at 100% after charging at night. I use the google pixel stand. After rebooting battery falls down rapidly to the correct amount but it gets stuck everytime I charge it back fully with the stand. I'll need to try with wire charging though to see if the issue is the same.
No such issue with my Pixel 5 Sorta Sage here in Australia. Sounds like a software glitch though. Had mine for 3 days now and it's been going really well. I'm also not seeing this "gap" issue that others have mentioned either.
After my pixel shutted down at 1% battery (24 hours standby and 7.5 hours of screen)
I put it to charge and turned it on and left it charging.
I came back later. And the phone was at 1% level still charging. With battery saver enabled
I restarted and the phone was already at 100%
What the hell is going on.
I used my Pixel 4 charger instead of Pixel 5 but they look like the same charger with type C power delivery

Mine has this issue too - same with different adapters, but doesn't happen every time with the same adapter. When plugging in it will go up a couple of % over a few minutes, then gets stuck - it might go up another percent randomly here and there, but not at the "actual" rate that it's charging.
Restarting seems to force it to update to the correct charge percentage, but not to carry on increasing at the correct rate. Tempted by a factory reset!

Mine got stuck at 69% for over 12 hours, i had to do a factory reset for sending the phone back anyway and it was still at 69% after the factory reset. So i don't think factory reset will do any good. Probably a software bug they need to fix.
I've also just seen this, the charge indicator got stuck at 47%, when reconnected the charging cable, the charge indicator quickly got up to around 80% and then carried on at a normal pace.
Same here. Stuck at 44%, then 88%, then 100%, then 96%. Some people were suggesting that it's a bug related to the far-right icons in the customization of the launcher. Don't know if that's true but defenitely will give it a try
There is some update in Pixel forums. According to it, will be fixed in a future software update.

Stuck battery issue

Pixel 5: the first charge/discharge cycle went well. I did it with the Pixel Stand wireless charger. Now 2nd charge (with cable this time) was stuck at 44%...reboot then suddenly goes to 88% then stuck again...reboot then suddenly 100%...then it was stuck at 100%...reboot 96%.... Now seems discharging properly... Hope it's just the battery that needs to level out...or a software problem that will be solved. Anyone else had this problem?
You are not alone. A LOT of people including myself had/have the same issue.
Mine got stuck charging at 1% then I restart and was already at 100%
(On a separate topic: I'm now on my second cycle...my battery life is at 47% left with 26 hours standby and 5 hours 37 minutes SoT...so my battery is very slowly decreasing. I'm not saying this a bad thing, quite the opposite it's lasting more than expected but I'm not sure how is going to end.. I'll hold till 1% .).

I had this issue with my Pixel 2 XL when I got it 3 years ago. It didn't get stuck charging but it did get stuck discharging. I would take it off the charger at 100% before I went to bed. The next morning, 8 hours later, it would still be at 100%. Then I would use it for like an hour and it would stay at 100%. I would reboot at it would be at like 85%. I don't remember if it went away on it's own or if it was the first update that cleared it up but it was fine after like a week or two.

Let's hope Google will fix this or even the phone itself with the adaptive battery will fix it. Discharge is fine to me too. Very slow, but definitely not stuck.
I've got the same issue too where I'm stuck at 100%. It seems that it happens more when I left the phone charge all night long and especially with the pixel stand wirelessly. (I tried today to charge it up to100% with wire and unplug it when charged and it discharges proprely). I don't know where it is coming from. But when I'm stuck at 100% I reboot and the % drop fast to what seems to be the correct amount. But quite annoying for a brand new phone at this price point...
I have the same issue. Battery was stuck at 100% for quite long time and had to restart the phone to show the correct percentage. Is it a hardware or any OS issue? I have contacted the google support just some time back. Hope to hear from them.
Should be fixed in the next security patch https://mobilesyrup.com/2020/10/23/google-pixel-5-4a-5g-charging-stops-bug/
Same problem. You say it is a software issue, so I don't care? Waiting for update?

I just checked and the new update was ready although it may be a security patch only.
This morning I spoke with google support and they told me to try recharging from the computer and not to use the original charger. In this way, for me, battery wasn't stuck during recharge...
So, maybe the issue was the charger? Is it possible? Or was it just a coincidence?
I never had an issue where the battery level got stuck mid-way either charging or depleting but I did have the "issue" where it stayed at 100% for hours. This has gone away - I assume that the battery calibrated?

If charged to 100% it will stay at 100% until I rebooted. Then it goes back to normal.
