[Q] How to root SU660 Gingerbread 2.3.4?

Hi,
Thank you for all the person here who helped me revert my phone to stock rom.
You're really the best.
Now I have my LG Optimus 2x SU660 to Gingerbread 2.3.4.
But now How can I root it?
I found a thread that they have rooted it with nvflash and CWM, but unlucky there is no Guide.
Hope someone knew how it can be done.
Thanks,
confirm ur version v20f? if f version i think still not yet rooted unless a custom rom...
Is there a custom rom of gingerbread for SU660?

Hey, guys.
This is not a custom rom.
It's only rooted official GB stock (v20f)+1.5 OC kernel+some tweaks nandroid backup.(on su660)
You can use this if you have su660.
Restore only boot & system with CWM's advanced restore.
You need not to wipe.
(But you have to backup for undoing always. Some ppl can't boot with OC kernel caused by low level board.)
Then you will have rooted GB 2.3.4 stock+1.5 OC kernel rom with your data.
But time will be faster 9 hrs than it caused by different baseband.
You can set time manually at setting .
Official updater doesn't extract *.fls any more. And I can't give you baseband.
---------- Post added at 12:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 AM ----------
To root v20f is not simple and has risk.
Because of it has locked bootloader.
It needs definite understanding of nvflash and smartflash for undoing.
I can't this explain.
If you have Korean friends, request him to explain this.
He will have to register unless he has ID at Naver.
would u mind uploading to mediafire pls?
thanks in advance...

You have to use Paul's modded cwm 3.0.1.5 or 4.0.0.5 .
Refer to this.
Hi,kitty's daddy
I followed your instruction but i can not install cwm 4.0.0.5 in my su660. Are you sure its working with su660 2.3.4 ?

I'm using 4.0.0.5 in my gb 2.3.4.
But it's rooted.
I can't explain to root gb.
It's very complex.
sorry.

It can be used on rooted phone.
You can't use that on unrooted gb 2.3.4 (v20f).
It needs CWM.
If you want, flash v10w or before with smartflash.
(But all user data will be wiped and kdz tool can't downgrade from v20f.)
And root & install CWM than restore that with CWM.
I don't recommend that.
Wait who will explain to root v20f. It's not long time.
I have uploaded that for p990 users, I couldn't think about su660 users in here.
thank you , as i understood all i need is v20f - - v10w-- root-- cwm---rooted v20f, right?

Right.
And if you downgrade to v10w from v20f though full wiped,
the time will be faster 9hrs due to difference of basebands.
Then you may set manually at setting.
Also you may set cpu clock with setcpu or cpumaster because of it has 1.5OC kernel.
Good luck.
To root V20F (has locked bootloader.)
Hey guys.
This is what you want. But try at your own risk.
step1. Download this su.zip
step2. Copy it to your internal or external sdcard. (depending on what you normally use)
step3. Read and inwardly digest this and download it.
step4. Install cwm to recovery according to that post.
step5. Boot with cwm recovery and install su.zip.
step6. Reboot and enjoy.
step7. Admire Rusty!
Add.
Never do this try without
any backup.
any knowledge about unbriking with kdz tool or smartflash.
understanding about details of Rusty's post.
doing battery out.
do you have official v20f be rooted?? thankS

If you use this ROM V20q, you will have to try, if the update tool works. I find those LG tools are working randomly.
If you cannot update and want stock ICS on your phone, restore with Paul O'briens Smartflash, then you erase all traces of rooting your phone!
Cheers
Mike
On the other hand, will the stock ICS rom be as good as something like the hybrid Temasek rom anyway.
If we had the drivers for the video chip (and HDMI?) it would be perfect. As it is it's still better than stock in every other way.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
i seriously think ics wud be better than the customs...atleast they will be bugfree and as u know stocks roms r always better user friendly then the customs.
Im using temasek rom and symbiosis kernel at present. Will be back to stock gb in a few days

[Q] Need Froyo Custom Rom

I need a Froyo based custom ROM for my galaxy mini.
I am facing some wifi issues with the gingerbread roms like cm7,emanon and also ics based ones.
I need a Custom ROM based on froyo. Also my galaxy mini, when running stock froyo ROM(ddka7) lags frequently.
To be able to use wifi at my home i need froyo roms.
Can you guys please suggest any Froyo based custom ROM for sgm. Also do the stock Froyo Roms of sgm support init.d ?
Please Reply ASAP. Thanks in advance.
Really ? If you need to flash Custom ROM you need ClockWorldMod Recovery (CWMR), and CWM need Gingerbread to work !
So answer is = NO
we have cwm for froyo but no custom rom. so bad luck
init.d?

How to backup the stock Kernel ? Thanks...

Hi there..
My S5830 has "sleep of death" and I sent it for repairing.
Samsung official service has just give me the device, and the only said "We have updated your Kernel".
The thing is that Kernel version shown on Settings is JUST THE SAME that before that "repairing", the XWKTM compilation Stock Kernel:
2.6.35.7-perf-CL1073924 [email protected] #1
Is there any way to backup this Kernel in order to compare with a fresh XWKTM Kernel?
I thing I have been fooled.....
just do backup on cwm ... then search the file boot.img that will be your kernel
Perfect, Thank you

Your phone is different from 5830, 5830L and 5830B.
But most things are compatible with 5830i and 5830m. Look in the proper forun, if you flash any kernel or rom for 5830 you might brick your device.

[Q] Change kernel on a stock ROM

Hi,
Someone knows if is possible to change the kernel in a stock rom? I'm looking for one that allow "mounts", "install's/updates" via CWM and support for init.d

if i'm not wrong, i've only seen cm based ones in this section..If you want you can build one on your own and mod it as you like..There are lots of tutorial available to do it..if you don't want or you don't have time to do that, i suggest you to flash a stock based custom rom..Have a nice day!
