i want to get my note back to stock rom without root and all the custom staff i want it like the first day i bought it
Flash an official samsung firmware via ODIN. You won't increase the flash count or get a triangle if you use an official firmware.
Just Google, or use samfirmware.com for the firmware you want.
and i i make this option the warranty of the phone will be ok or when i rooted it i lost everything ??
When you root, it voids warranty
But again if you flash with Stock ROM, you regaint it (b'coz, no can know you have rooted)
Use links in my signature to find stock ROms
Hey Ketan,
I flashed custom kernels (Abyss 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5) like four times. Would my binary counter be changed ? Can I know what the binary counter currently reads ?

Hi, I want to install darkys rom
to do this, i need to install cwm, which looks quite easy to do.
But i need to know how to uninstall it because i dont want to void my phones warranty.
So, can you please help me, how to uninstall Clockworkmod recovery and go back to original recovery (2e) ?
I think you're missing something. I'm sure that installing that custom ROM will void your warranty. I don't know which version of Darkys you're looking at but I expect it includes root acces, likely includes Clockwork Recovery and likely also includes a custom kernel.
What I do (and I think most people who play around with custom ROMs) is install whatever app is needed / wanted. If something goes bust with your phone, you should in most scenarios still be able to flash back a stock firmware and submit it for service. That's exactly what I've done on two occasions (my service issues weren't a result of my flashing) and what I know many others have done.
Good luck.
gtg2,
i know i am installing a rom will void my warranty.
what i can do is, i can flash an official samsung i9000 rom, back to my phone.
but will it also uninstall clockworkmod recovery? or should i do something special?
install samsung firmware with odin, and then go to kies and update the firmware?
how can i go back to official recovery, mine was "recovery 2e" ??????

It's unclear from your messages whether you're still running the original firmware or have upgraded already. If you're on the original, enter *#1234# in your phone's dialpad and post back here what it reports under PDA. Using that, you can find your original firmware for Android 2.1 on http://samfirmware.com and flash it to go back to stock and recovery 2e when you're through playing with a custom ROM. If you're not running your original firmware, you'll need to figure out what your original firmware was (I don' t know what it would have been for your area).
Do you know how to use ODIN to flash firmwares? If not, read up on the reference guide for our phone. I've found it very helpful.

Good luck.
hey Gtg2,
First off, thank you for your helps.
I am sorry i couldnt make it clear, i hope i do now:
I am on custom rom now (Darkys 8.0 rom).
I am new to this and this is my 5th day with my galaxy, i bought it as second hand and 22months more guarantee i had.
I need to know how to go back to original rom and recovery because just incase. If i bring my phone now (with custom rom and cwm recovery) then the service will say your phone is out of warranty. So, i need to know how to go back to make everything original.
I noted my phones codes, here they are:
pda: i9000jvjh1
phone: i9000jxjg2
csc: i9000trcji1
When installing the custom rom, i didnt make a nandroid backup because i already found one in the net. So, i dont have nandroid backup too.
I never used odin nor samfirmware (as i couldnt find anything same with my phones codes there (pda: i9000jvjh1, phone: i9000jxjg2, csc: i9000trcji1 - it was 2.1 Eclair).
I can find a laptop to use odin anytime tho (i am a mac user).
So, as i understand from your post; if i find my stock firmware (dont know where i can) and install it via odin then everything will be original (cwm recovery will gone and recovery 2e will come back) ?????
A friend of mine (not so technical person tho) said that i should use nandroid to back to original firmware then use kies to install newer firmware (downgrade to 2.1 then upgrade to 2.2.1). Should i do this????
just i need to know the process... sorry for long msg.
Thank you...
You wont find the branded firmware that came with your phone unless you have a copy .
Simplest will be to use Odin to flash to an older version Eclair .
Then use the Kies registry hack to upgrade to current software from your provider that will be branded .It would not matter if clockwork was on as its a legitimate product .

As the title stated i want to get back to samsungs stock rom and kernal so i can upgrade my phone to 2.3 and get my warranty back.
First of all i need to disable the lagfix and the tweaks of course but after that should i flash back to samsungs original kernal or should i flash back to stock rom first?
My kernal version is:[email protected] #14(2.6.32.9)
Rom: I900XXJPY 2.2.1
Dumb question but i can't just upgrade my phone to 2.3 via the phone's self updater. I just want to be sure.
You don't give a ton of detail here. The first step would be to find a stock rom for your device and region (2.2.1, 2.2, 2.3 all would be OK) on samfirmware.com or ramad's collection here on XDA. Then flash with Odin.
Any stock rom that is right for your location should then update to the latest when you connect to kies (or so I hear I don't use Kies..)
It will contain a stock kernel so don't worry about that. Note though that if your phone is really screwed and that is why you are flashing a stock rom for warrenty then a custom rom might boot up but a stock rom may not.
If its just for resale then you should be good to go.

Thanks for the help man.. My phone is not screwed up but i'm starting notice that it is starting to "fall apart". So that's the reason i want my warrenty back.
Hi guys, I just bought a Galaxy Note and want to know about the flash counter.
I have a Galaxy S I9000 and flashed 100's of different ROMS via ODIN and never had any issues. But I have heard that Samsung keeps a track of it on SGS2 and on Note. Can somebody give me an explanation about the flash counter? Like how many attempts, how to reset, how it impacts the warranty, etc.?
Thanks & Regards,
Dinesh.
P.S.: Happy New Year to all the members of XDA.
If you flash stock rom with kernel it won't raise conter. It raises wen you use odin to flash custome rom. With a single raise you will lost warranty. Also it gives yellow triangle on boot, whivh cam be removed with flashing cf root, but to reset counter you need a tool 'jig'. Which is available on marker or you can make it own.
To make it own you hav to just open ne micro usb pin of note, have to connect 4th n 5th pin with 301resistor.
Thank you so much Dr. Ketan for the reply. So I believe I can flash any stock ROM from sammobile.com without raising the counter, right?
For ex: I m currently on KL3 and if I flash KL7 or KL8 firmware by downloading it from sammobile.com, It wont raise the counter. Am I correct?

Correct.
Cheers
U r correct just note that kl7/8 can't root directly. Reamaining me rom u can get it
Read link in signature if u need to know in detail
Got it. Thank you for all the responses. I any ways wont root my GNote so I m going to update it to KL8. I remembered rooting I9000 so I can install custom ROMS with Voodoo lagfix. I dont think its needed anymore with devices like SGS2 and GNote.
What are the improvements between KL3 and KL7/8/9 ? Is it worth upgrading it manually or wait from Samsung officially?
hi all, it s my first thread
i have a new samsung galaxy note never rooted, never updated, on gingerbread 2.3.5.
I want to know if i must root my device before doing this to update to ICS .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
If you want stock ICS you can just flash the required files using ODIN, If you want a custom ICS ROM then you will either have to flash a safe kernel and cwm (some kernels have cwm built in) then update that way, You may also have to flash ICS through ODIN, then a kernel, then a rom. read the requirements in the OP
If you let me know which ROM you want i can try help you through the process.

There´s no need to root your phone in order to update, but if you flash it thru PC Odin you will get the yellow triangle and will raise the binary counter. Besides, with the hardbrick bug around maybe is not the best idea to update now. You should hold on a bit until Samsung releases the fix for the bug....
thanks
i want to install stock ics rom, so i do like in the guide without rooting my note on gingerbread (before updating) ?
I upgraded to stock ICS by just flashing it via ODIN, Dont worry about the binary count or yellow triangle if you get it, It can be removed. I have it but wont remove it till i need to send it back.
But as glevitan said, Its best to stay on GB if you feel anxious about upgrading, There isnt a huge difference between the 2 anyway.
If you dont care and you are a dare devil who laughs in the face of danger, Just be sure to read read read all the guides.
If in doubt..............ASK !
Hi guys
Wonder if you can help me.
So have a custom kernel running, but stock ICS.
If I were to get an OTA / Kies update, what would happen to the custom kernel? After the update, would I get stock kernel?
Also, I presume I would also lose root, and would have to re-root (or could I just use OTA Rootkeeper).
Thanks!
your update will fail upon install cause you aren't running all same components of same version rom. Try it at own risk. Even having different modem makes update fail. At least for me
Change kernel back to rom version and update will succeed. Then put custom back.
Ota and you dont have to loose root. Kies then you must be unrooted.

i was on 4.0.3 ICS stock with speedmod v11... then i got the update for 4.0.4 via kies and i was able to install the update successfully. the kernel when back to the stock one and all the stock apps came back... and i lost root as well.
cool, It always failed with me. I concluded it wasn't possible. Probably I was wrong.

Hmm, OK, so there is no clarity then!
I guess I could download the firmware from Sammobile and update manually via CWM or Odin in that case?
If I were to do that though, would that be a no wipe?
Try to follow this link (from doc Ketan's thread) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
You can download the firmware on your specific region, use PC Odin (you wont get the triangle mark in anyway)
There are also guides on that thread that might help you out.. Just read and see if it might interest you or not.
P.S. Regarding your initial post. You will lose your Custom kernel when your going to flash /upgrade to the Official Samsung ICS firmware. The kernel will be replace with the kernel package on that ROM. And YES you will lose root upon upgrading it but nothing can't be fix if your going to flash back the custom kernel again (to gain root) and use Triangle Away to reset your binary counter and clear out the yellow triangle on the bootup screen
