Hello Everybody!
I've had a lot of kind of firmware in my SGS, at the momment I've a Jimmy's/Hamster's lastest Rom but the problem is common with all of Roms. I've a problem with the recognition of my SGS in my computers, it was working fine and suddenly it's not working. I don't know why and I've tried with a lot of kind of drivers... the result is the same, the device is not recognized by Windows 7 and XP (the laptop).I've tried with KIES and Mass Storage Mode but nothing
Somebody know how to fix it o any idea?
I'm starting to think my mobile plug is broken or something like that, but when you plug the wire to the mobile in all modes, it seems working fine in the mobile screen, but in the computer is not recognized.
Thank you very much everybody...
Not an expert, but I found a similar problem and there has been a couple of solutions;
a) Connecting to a laptop which was using both USB's, but the power used by the other slot was too much for the phone to be recognised. Even though the phone was connecting and charging it would not be recognised in Kies. I removed the rest of the USB's unplugged phone reconnected and it was found.
b) Downloaded the latest KIES from samsung webpage, and installed. I closed Kies, then connected the phone and it came up as a USB device. Then I started Kies and was recognised.
Hope it helps...
I've just update my issue with more information, but I tested both possible solutions that you told me but it didn't solve my problem.
There are more information here, thanks in advance
I have a SGS:
GT-I9000
Fw: 2.2.1
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 hardcore speedmod-k12g-256hz #50
Build number: Hamster Roms V6.2
PDA: I9000XXJPY
PHONE: I9000XXJPY
CSC:I9000OXAJPY
Build Info: 2010. 12
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0 SpeedMod ULFK
The problem is that my PC doesn't recognize my SGS.
I've the last KIES version (I've tested download only the drivers, but i could get nothing...)
I've tested in two differents PCs, Windows 7 and XP but nothing.
I was testing a lot of ROMs but really I don't know when it stopped working. I think the last update with ODIN, when it was working, was to update to SO_zImage_opt_ext_root_JPM-JP6_V4_1_OC but I'm not sure. Later I've update my SGS from CMW many times.
I've tried to access by Mass Storage and Samsung Kies but nothing...
The are some extra symphtoms:
When I connect to the charger, in my SGS is activate automatically the MTP application for KIES.
When I connect to my PC, I receive the next warning: USB Device Not Recognized: one of the USB devices attached to this computes has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it....
I've update my last firmware wit WIPE option from CMW, tested with and without LAGFIX but nothing.
I think that something is wrong about the compatibility or updating proccess, but I can't access to connect my UBS in my computer, neither to ODIN with DOWNLOAD mode because my PC doesn't recognize it.
Are there any way to get my PC recognized again my SGS?
Are there any way to know if the problem is anything incompatible with Kernel version and Firmware, or anything like that?
Is normal my SCS being different that PDA or PHONE?
If somebody knows, please help me.
Thank you very much
THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVED!
Hi, I am using JPO version of Germany (DBT) for I9000 international. When I connect device to computer, update notification appears for 2.2.1. However, when I click on update after skipping or non-skipping backup, device disconnects and notification appears that device not connected. Then, clicking on OK update process ends but my galaxy s is connected to KIES. I tried numerous times and I am waiting for someone who overcame this problem.
full error message: Firmware update stopped because GT-I9000 has been disconnected. Please check the connection and try again.
I tried those:
Updating KIES
Hard reset device
Uninstall & reinstall KIES
Open KIES as admin
Open KIES in compatibility mode
Restart phone
I also tried Win7 32 bit,XP and XP virtual PC
Solution is in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997974
have you tried it on another computer?
If that does not work you can always download the version you need and flash it yourself through odin. As long as it's a stock rom it shouldn't even compromise your warranty
EDIT:
But first try the other computer, if it does not work on any other machine you can also suspect faulty hardware and just send it to samsung / bring it to your carrier. I think they will investigate and update it for you.

I am afraid that I had a bad experince with Odin. My phone connected to Odin. When I clicked start, nothing happened. After half and hour I unplugged, I saw a phone, a cable and a computer on screen. After that, I updated to Froyo using KIES, that is why I am not a fan of ODIN
Solution is there:

Hi,
I am having a strange problem while connecting my Galaxy S to kies. I've seen all related threads on this forum but none of them worked for me.
When I start kies and connect my phone to my PC. The kies just keeps on trying to connect to the phone but never connects.
That means the phone is detected by PC but Kies cannot make a connection to it. I tried reinstalling Kies Drivers but it didn't work either.
Here is the Kies and mobile Firmware version that I am using:
Kies: 2.0.0.11044_11
Firmware: I9000DDJG4

Have you tried completely uninstalling Kies, rebooting PC and then a fresh install of an older version of Kies?
Hi, i'm noob in Galaxy Flashing so this is my problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 blocked from italian carrier.
Few times ago i tried to enable 3-buttons download/recovery mode installing Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5 with Odin. The installation finished successfully but the download/recovery mode still didn't work.
After some reboots (where the phone worked right), now the phone stucks in the boot screen (the one with Galaxy S GT-I9000 SAMSUNG).
With the JIG i can enter download mode but my computer can't detect the phone (Windows feels my USB connection but Odin does not detect it).
If i connect the phone to the computer in normal mode (not in download mode, so with stuck screen), Kies can detect the phone but says that it can't talk with phone in this way(like if it was in USB Debug mode).
I Hope someone can help me
Restart your computer>>>Go to task manager and close all Kies applications (I usually have 2 Kies running from startup)>>>Start Odin and select all the files>>>Put your phone into download mode and connect>>>It should be detected now.
If it is still not detected, close odin, disconnect phone. Start Kies go to tools and install drivers. Once this is complete. Close Kies and start from the top of this post...restart...
Solution Is HEIMDALL.....
Here Comes your solution:
You can easily back your phone with Heimdall.
It's a flashtool which is more complicated than ODIN.
If interesting, simply PM me and we will do it.
I'm Here...
Well,first go to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
Second: Download 7-zip PC software & extract your official md5 firmware to obtain several other files.
Third:Search the web for a Heimdall How-To(if you didn't find,I'll provide You links)
Last:You'll flash the firmware via Heimdall & again your peace of mind will be back.
Try to reflash your phone normaly with another Rom, it should work

Sorry, your advice didn't work, Odin still doesn't detect the phone
Try to change the USB port and install ONLY the phone driver -if you don't find you can contact me.

I don't understand, your download mode works?
Sent from my Galaxy S with ICS 4.0.4 (Italy)
he said download mode works but odin cant detect the phone .
Try reinstalling the samsung usb drivers and/or try from another pc and see if it shows the same thing (meaning nothing) .
Hi,
sorry but i tried all the ways, Odin and Heimdall.
I tried Odin on Windows and Heimdall on MacOSX but always they say
"Failed to detect compatible download-mode device."
I'm sure that phone is in download mode
May i install drivers on OSX with Heimdall?
I have not original samsung USB cable, but i think this is not a problem
Rooted my GT-I9000, and now it has crashed!
First off all my Galaxy I9000 was trying to software update via Kies, and it failed. The it would not start, but i managde to root it with a stock "VOD" rom.. But after a while i wantet to root it back to "Nordic Version"... But i could not do this, because the 3 button combo dont work on my Galaxy I9000 anymore.. :/ So there for i baought a USB JTAG, that puts it into download mode. So far, So good But when it is finished rooting, it fails to mount/unmount a bunch of stuff.. I have a picture of the screen, so that you guys can se what the problem is. I have tryed to root it with the same version that worked before, but it dont work. I have also tryed with som pit files, and so on... I give up, i need help with my Samsung Galaxy S - GT-i9000. Please help me out with this..
Getting Hopeless...?
1)For you to become sure,my Galaxy S Aka I9000 was exactly the same as yours and right now there is nothing wrong with that of course after flashing by HEIMDALL.
2)Remember,if your are going to do anything,Your first and your last key,is your HOPE so be so hopeful and let's start to get over this.
3)Download I9000 USB driver from here and simply install it on WINDOWS OS.
http://hotfile.com/dl/48893334/93383a1/I9000_USB_driver.rar.html
4)Before Using Heimdall, Enter it's folder and you'll see another sub folder called driver and you'll see just ONE executable program, run it and follow these instructions:
(I'll Shortly Provide You A How-to)
5)Enter Heimdall and follow these instructions:

generally no, but I recommend strongly to try another micro USB-Cable & another USB Port!
No one of these method does work for me,
any suggest?? my main problem is that the pc does not detect the phone when it's in download-mode. I know how to flash it, but there is not a program that can talk with it!

Hi, changing computer worked. I tried on OSX and didn't work, on Windows 7 on VMware Fusion and didn't work. After all, i tried on a laptop with Windows XP and it solved my problem. Now i get a mobile network error, with one carrier it works and with another it does not. The mobile network detected is always really low.
Hi Guys,
I was trying to update my N920G(INDIA) stock firmware from N920GDDU2AOL1 (india) to N920GUBU2AOJ8 (Ecuador) but at the end in odin 3.10.7 the firmware update failed. Now if i try to start the device I am getting an error message saying "Use the emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software" but If i connect my device with Smart Switch PC software it shows that the device is unsupported .
What should I do?
PS: I am still able to go into the download mode

hi ,
most probably the reason Smart Switch is not working, is that you are "rooted " ?
Have you tried flashing the latest correct stock Rom of you device ,
not just any old Rom etc
(Reasons /think in terms of .. old /updated boot-loader etc )

hi ,
as far as i know Kies does not "work " on Note5
You have to use Smart Switch .
See screenshot what happens if you try to connect to Kies .
(i have N920 C in this case )
Further ,Smart Switch most probably only works on non rooted devices etc and not on rooted /modify devices .I might be wrong ,but this is what my understanding of Smart Switch .
good luck
Have you tried flashing back to stock OL1
Have you solved this problem? I have the same and neither smartswitch nor kies nor odin works. Please HELP!!!
