hi guys there is a dust in my screen.. anyway solution to get rid of it?
thanks
Very odd... Only thing I can think of wouldn't be worth the hassle: take phone apart remove glass from LCD and clean with alcohol . Unless its brand new in which case return to store and tell them for the amount those Taiwanese children are getting paid they ought to be more careful in which case HTC will give you a brand new phone.

Although from the outside corner it looks like you have a screen protector on. : {

Send it back to the store and they will replace a new screen for you. I have the same problem before and they replace it for free.
alcohol certainly works, worked with my screen last time i tried to clean it
hi guys im gonna give my mobile to htc regarding this dust... do i need to s-on for this?
I will recommend you to get s-on back. They will keep you bugging for rotting your phone. When i have been to HTC service centre long ago, One guy came with some complaint. (it was a fault with the software). The HTC service men told that guy to get back to s-on or they wont service him for free (with warranty).
I've read from different phone sections some HTC repair centers don't check if you have s-on or s-off, but yes you should legally have s-on.
this is a popular issue if the tape under your digitizer is becoming old and accumulating too much dust.
I took the screen and LCD apart and learned this, my method to put the screen back on is not perfect and still gets a little dust in sometimes.
Better to let the repair do it or get some really good tape like the OEM.

I've only had this for phone for about a week and I already see a small fragment of dust underneath the screen. It's located in the upper right corner of the screen, so it couldn't have gotten in through the 3.5mm jack, I think.
Anyone else having this problem?
Hmmm... Having dust on the bottom part of the screen, right in the middle, I suspect an issue with stick during manufacturing, so screen is not correctly fixed and dust can pass through holes :-(
If we are not so many to have dust I can imagine it's not so frequent so I'm going to write down to HTC to expose these facts and claim for another device...

Hey...even i got dust under the screen in the middle left...its annoying on white backgrounds :S

I also get a dust under screen, it in the buttom, I really don't know how did it come in there.
Well apparantly I'm not the only one, it seems to be a common issue then.

I asked for a new device, not from HTC but from the retailer where i bought it.
He told me that giving new devices does not fall under the 'repair' warranty. He adviced me to bring the phone in and they would send it to a HTC repair center.
I did send a mail to HTC though, but they haven't replied yet.
:edit: They replied to me this morning, giving me two possible solutions depending on the retailer himself.
Either I could get a new model from the retailer (which in this case is impossible), or the cellphone could be repaired at the HTC repair center. They also told me that if it's option two, I might as well let them pick up my cellphone seeing as the retailer would just send it to them anyhow.
I accepted the offer and they're picking it up this friday.
Is dust under the screen an HTC problem? I don't recall hearing issues about dust under the screen with Samsung or Motorola phones.

They do seem to have a bad reputation considering that issue.
Let's just hope they bring my cellphone back scratch-free and completely sealed.
same problem here.
i changed the phone two times. the third one also has dust under the display. HTC support told me to send this to the retail center to repair it. Needs 10-14 days...
The media store offered me to change to a desire s. To small dislay, the third post in a german forum: dust under the display... f....
Mine had the same problem. I called HTC Taiwan, and they picked up my phone next morning. After 48hr, the phone was back nice and shiny in an "I'm Back" cute little box with a free cleaning cloth. Very satisfied with the service. I suggest call htc repair. Shipping is free and quick.
I'm guessing it's a common problem with the first batch of these smartphones.
I think i'll have my phone back by friday, so it'll take little over a week.
Such waiting time is quite common here, it's actually not that bad compared to other repair centers.
Hi, i have the same problem and i have that phone from 10 days. When i bought it it was clean and no dust inside. Please tell me if i send it to retail center to repair is it a good choice or soon will be the same. I have HD2 before and i didn't have this problem.
Hey everyone, i'm going to post this thread to warn people about the really bad screen quality.
The first problem that occured, was when i put a screen protector on. When i applied the screen protector, and tried to remove the protective film on the screen protector, i accidently took off the screen protector too. Before i went out to get a new one, i noticed a strange smear on the screen. I have no clue what it is, but cleaning the screen with any type of cloth won't work. The part of the smear also feels alot more resistant
I have no clue how this happened. I always take good care of my phone, i never dropped it, never leave it face down on any surface etc. I think that the screen couldnt take the cold of the winter. My nephew also has a scratch like this, only his one is much much worse. It goes through his entire screen, and some pixels dont work anymore.
Maybe someone on this forums knows wtf is up the smear on the screen.
HTC sent my old desire HD back with a smear like that on it. I used some lynx deodorant to get it off. But was very careful when doing so.

Wait, you used deodorant to get it off? Will any other brand do i.e axe or adidas?
HMMM
With what did you clean the screen, i looks like you clean it with alcohol or acetone, i really don't think the screen protector could do this ,just because the screen protectors don't have any glue on it. I never saw that screen protector would do that
I just used a really soft fiber cloth to clean it. I don't think that it's glue, since when i look at it from the side, it seems as if a protective layer that was on the screen has been eroded

I guess so, as long as its not that dry stuff. Spray it so there is a liquid layer. But do a tiny bit first if you're going to try.

Since i already have a topic of my own, can i ask if it's any good to get a new rom for my phone? My phone has had a few crashes in the past, just random black screen out of nowhere. Didn't have one for a week now. I already rooted it a few days ago, but will i lose my stuff again if i flash it to a new rom?

Yeah, you can only really use it to reboot your phone into recovery. That's it. so will have to flash the rom from recovery using cwm.

About the screen smear, cleaning didn't work. Maybe there used to be a protective coating on the screen? Cause the smear is also alot more prone to fingerprints and has more resistance than the area which is still normal

I have it too under my screen protector but it is alright for me I can live with it

even i have those smudges :/ however had the device for 3 months now and not one crack observed..however i live in a warm country (malta) so huge temperature difference does not take place
Alright, i think i know what happened: In the process of removing the screen protector, the "oleophobic coating" came off. Anyone got any ideas?
http://www.aculon.com/treatments-electronics.php
Contact them and order a spray. Then you know what to do
So i got a reply from HTC stating this:
Code:
Dear Marco van Dijk,
Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC Sensation XL.
My name is Paul and I am a Technical Support Agent for the HTC Written Team.
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with the screen surface.
To resolve this, Marco, I would like to book your phone for a repair, however I must inform you that our phones are tested to meet international and local standards and the screen coating will not corrode through standard wear & tear.
I cannot say for certain however damage like this is generally considered out of warranty as it is due to an external source peeling the coating from the screen.
If you wish to proceed with the repair, then please read the following instructions carefully. By proceeding with the repair you agree to the terms and conditions of the repair service.
During repair, we will install the latest software as part of the diagnosis and testing. All the data from the phone will be lost, except for data stored on the SD card, SIM card, or online services, if applicable. If this is possible please check our online Help pages on how to backup your data.
Do not send the SD Memory Card, SIM Card, Battery, Back covers and other accessory items included or not in the product's box. All we need is the bare device. We can’t be held liable for any of these being sent in as they won’t be returned.
Package the device as you would like to receive it. In a good strong box with plenty of padding. You can use the original box, but it will not be returned to you. This information overrules the one in the repair tick-sheet instructions.
Should our engineers determine that the fault you are experiencing is caused by physical damage, wear and tear or illegal software, it will not be covered by warranty. Conditions of warranty also include warranty length terms from date of purchase. The repair will be chargeable and we will send you a quote. Should you not wish to pay that quote, there will be an approximate £25 diagnosis, shipping and handling fee to have the device returned to you and not repaired.
Liquid-damaged devices are returned immediately, unrepaired and without charge as they are beyond economic repair.
Your repair will take approximately 7 working days from when it arrives at the HTC Repair Centre and it's subject to parts availability.
UPS can collect your device from any address in the EU at the following times, except public holidays.
Monday-Friday: 09:00 - 13:00h / 13:00 – 17:00h / 17:00 – 21:00h
Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00h / 13:00 - 17:00h
Do you think they will screw me, and let me pay for the damage? (Since there's also a scratch on the screen and face it, what's the chance that a screen protector will remove the coating)
And if so, anyone has an idea of what the costs might be?
There is always a chance to get you pay for everything. I think in worst scenario they tell you they changed the digitizer. And as i recall the cheap one in ebay was 50-60 euro. So you can only guess what they can charge you if they say it's your fault.....
so do they fix this problem for free with warranty?
I dropped my phone on some pretty hard stuff, and it has a big crack now, on the right side of the screen. Everything seems to be working fine, and the touch screen in itself has no issues (it works even on the cracked part of the glass), but the crack is pretty big, and it runs right from top to the bottom of the screen. Any idea how/where I can get it replaced, and how much it might cost?
I though gorilla glass was a lot more tougher :crying:
Thanks!
If you are game enough to do it yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTOyjGol_iM
There are a few screens on ebay for cheap
Can you get it done cheap in a market or something? You can here
Oh, well. Seems like fun!
Did not find anything for the IncS on EBay's Indian site, but I guess I can get it shipped from the States - I found several on that.
But before I try this, I would definitely want to know how much the HTC repair center might charge me for this The LCD is fine, and only the glass (or digitizer - I got that from Mark's youtube link) has to be replaced. There are several on eBay for 35 USD, which is kinda OK, but I do not want to end up with a messed up non-working phone at the end of it
There may be a few nerves taking apart a $400 phone haha
And from my research, the glass and the digitaliser are attached
You could always enquire at HTC by calling them or emailing
That would obviously be the safest way
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA
Yeah, I mailed them, and they asked me to contact their Customer Care over phone, and the person at the CC had no idea what a digitizer is, and he asked me to get in touch with the repair center here, which is closed on Sundays
Will update here tomorrow after a visit to the repair center.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I haven't even dropped the phone and there are pretty much no scratches on the phone so I don't understand how it cracked.
I can see where pressure may have been applied to the lens. But I'm so frustrated because I bought this phone because of the camera and I always put my phones in my pocket.
Does anyone know if HTC will cover this for free? And if not then what's the charge? iFixIt gave this phone a repairability score of 1/10 (10 being easiest to repair) so I'm assuming this isn't really something I could fix myself.
Hi
Greetings,
The most easy way is let HTC service centre handle the issue and tell them what has happend
99% Ull have to pay for camera but ask them to repair in warranty,
Atleast you will confident that your phone is new and in safe hands
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I have agree with Shrex. I cant imagine how difficult it would be to find the lens AND replace it without making matters worse.
Either way, I hate that you had it happen. Hope you can get it fixed without a lot of hassle.
In Canada HTC requires that the wireless carriers handle any type of phone repairs, who in turn sends the phone to an authorized repair shop.I sent the phone out today. I may have been misleading with what I said so I should say that it is the PLASTIC piece that covers the lens that has been cracked.
With that being said, lets hope the repair is cheap. Otherwise I will not be a happy camper.
hi fellow htc one owners
i have a htc one in red what a beautiful phone BUT...
the day after i got it in put it in my pocket on its own screen facing inwards not outwards and the screen scratched the scratch is deep with some dotted scratches around it im gutted
i have tried toothpaste brasso car compounds 3m products but the scratch remains
i have put a screen protector on it but scratch is still visible
spoke to HTC they said warranty does not cover scratches and i have to send it in to for them to even tell me the price to replace the screen and i have to pay for the carriage to and from!
i have a local mobile phone repairer who has quoted me £100 quid to change the screen
but lookin online the phone is 1 on the repair factor 10 being repairable and im scared the phone casing will get damaged albeit the red on the bottom speaker grill has lost a bit of colour through wear but barely noticeable
looking for advice from fellow htc one owners would you change the screen? leave it or sell the phone?
I know it's expensive with HTC but I'd stick with them, don't go with someone that can do it for you from a shop, the One is notoriously difficult to get apart, let alone put back together again as shown by the iFixit guys!
HTC One Repairability Score: One out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair)
Very, very difficult (possibly impossible?) to open the device without damaging the rear case. This makes every component extremely difficult to replace.
The battery is buried beneath the motherboard and adhered to the midframe, hindering its replacement.
The display assembly cannot be replaced without removing the rear case—this will make the most common repair, a damaged screen, nearly impossible.
Copper shielding on many components is difficult to remove and replace.
Solid external construction improves durability.

I HIGHLY doubt that they will do anything with it at P4U, you swapped it for a Note 2? Did he have the receipt for the handset? Try to get that but I think you might be stuck and have to go to HTC for a repair
Can you take pics of the damage?

just come back for phones for you without the reciept
if the device had phones4u care they would have swapped it straight away but it doesnt!!
they said they can send the handset to htc to repair and will come back within 14 days
i told them the phone reboots randomly and they volume sound intermittently cuts out
thoughts are now sending to htc via phones 4 u hopefully they give me a new device or maybe refurbished
