Today I came back home to Verizon! I left because I felt verizon was to pricey but the truth is they have the best service and most of the best phones.
My bionic got here today and so far I am loving it! Any tips? like for battery usage, etc.?
Yeah, send it back and go with htc. Motor lies about their bootloaders and updates and doesn't care about the end user.
Here's an easy step by step guide I just finished. You might want to do some research before diving in.

HTC does the same thing, and they add that aweful sense interface that kills your battery faster then anything. I have owned two previous HTC androids, and I had the Original Droid.

Yeah, HTC adds more bloatware then the carriers!
Im a Bionic owner and have previously had htc phones, but at least you can run whatever you want on a n htc phone. Sorry guys but unless all MOTO devices gets bootloader unlocked these things will never be the beast they can be. I love the Bionic, but am seriously missing the ability to run true roms and kernels.

So now im in a dilema..lmao.. I know the only difference between the 2 is generally is diffrent UI, diffrent screens and 1 ghz dual core and other has 1.5 dual core....But would like other ppl input. I updated to the bionic from a thunderbolt and am very happy. I actually like the bionic screen better than the thunderbolts and the battery is
A little better. I really like the fact that I can see the display outside perfect. I am not sure if a am blind but I love the display and do not know why people complain about it. I bought the bionic thinking I would return it because I wanted the prime. I decided to keep it because it was the first phone I could use outside and see the display.
For what it is worth I will also be getting the prime when it comes out. I want to try it out and if I like it better the the bionic I will keep it.

Love my Bionic as well, I really love the screen as said above. I couldn't see the thunderbolts display outdoors, I dont have that problem with the Bionic.

The prime isn't coming to VZW and there's no official release date for the vigor. Get the bionic. You won't b disAppointed and you'll never keep up with technology anyway. Lol.
Some quad core 1080p display phone would drop right after you get the Vigor.

I endorse most of this comment. You're asking us to compare a phone that is out to one that isn't. There is always going to be the next big thing...
I'd say it boils down to this- do you like HTC/sense or Moto/blur more? There is your answer.

I got a Bionic to replace an ailing Charge with the intent to do exactly what you're describing and I very well may end up keeping it. I can't remember the last time I bought a phone and immediately formed the impression that this was a device that just might last the term of my contract.
I am coming from droid incredible.
I am planning to return my bionic right before the return window is up and wait for the Vigor.
I miss HTC sense wayyyy to much. I also dont like how when you pinch to zoom it doesnt auto fill text in the new window it just zooms in.
I can see diaplay outside which is nice but motorola just isnt for me. The zumocast hasnt worked so i cant comment about that except it doesnt work.
I think i was spoiled with HTC and Sense and dont like any other ui though.

I have to buy it out right with no contract...can i return it if i dont like it in the 14 days even if i buy it out right?

Coming from a tbolt it has been great. Screen, battery, & quality (of phone) are are better on bionic. Loved my D1, bolt failed me so was given bionic. I love that the extended battery doesn't add 3 lbs to phone. I'd love to get prime if/when that comes out for VZW, but who knows what will be out around christmas.

I think the vigor will be the better phone, depends on how good the battery is. Everyone knows htc and their batteries.
buy it at bestbuy instead. they got a 30 day policy that aligns with verizon's 30 day cancellation
I love my bionic. Its the best phone i ever had. Very satisfied with it had a facinate before bionic
I love my Bionic.. I've used alot of droid phones but all were Motorola so I guess my opinion might be a bit biased but my brother likes HTC phones and I've used his here and there and I prefer Motorolas build quality over anything and the Bionic is fast and has good battery life... this may be the first phone to last the term of my contract ..
I say pull the trigger and see how you like it .. best advice you can honestly get ..

I have a couple insider friends who 1 of which will be at the Sammy event this week. He states, "whoever said the Prime, or a form of it, isn't coming to Verizon is a complete moron". lol, I will put it this way, he has never been wrong, and a lot of the "leaked" shots that have come about from phones in the last 2 years have been him or someone he knew.

If you buy it from Costco, you get 14 days to back out of the Verizon service (I might be wrong on this, could be 30), but 90 days to exchange the phone. I bought a Charge on July 3rd, exchanged it a few days later because I thought it was defective (turns out it just has a ****ty radio), and then exchanged it again for the Bionic a couple of weeks after it came out.

its not that moto isnt loved, or the bionic isnt a good phone, its that the bootloader is still locked which hinders developers and developer support
yea i know about the bootloader it sucks but i dont want to buy nexus just because its a new phone and OS well have to sit tight no choice
I honestly am happy with the bionic right now. I would like the galaxy nexus, but I much prefer to buy mods for my car than a new phone every other month. I am going to sit with the bionic for a little while and wait. Hell a quad core phone is already in development from HTC. If I keep buying new phone ill be a poor man. The bionic is so much better than the thunderbolt that I don't care one had an unlocked bootloader and the other one doesn't. The bionic is a great phone.

Locked Bootloaders are only aren't the end of the world. If you wanted an unlocked bootloader, why didn't you get the LG Revolution because its unlocked. The fact is that the bionic is locked and already has more roms than the revolution which is unlocked.

Not sure how soon it will come, but it's nice to know someone is working on it at this point. I've always favored root rhough XDA as oppose to through HTC.
I think I'm keeping mine. I don't like any of the other phones. Not a fan of Samsung. This phone will be awesome when it is cracked.

keeping mine. stock its not bad, and rooted will be epic! i'd consider the SG2, but for $100 more, it doesnt seem like the right deal... loving the vivid!
Mines going back tomorrow for the nitro, I won't miss it too much since I also have an amaze 4g. The wife doesn't understand why I need 2 hi end phones but what she doesn't realize is that come march I'll have 3 and in July I'll be adding another. If the vivid gets perm root and unlocked with s-off I'll probably get another one. I love the phone and the screen is one of the prettiest out there in my opinion. Hopefully it won't take long to get things moving on it, if htc doesn't keep their promise the amaze might be my last htc device unless if they were to bring a rezound to att, if that happened I'd be like a kid at Christmas.
Best of luck to those keeping it, it really is a great phone but I see the word HD in a device name and I start slobbering all over myself.

I'm Keeping Mine
It does what I need - phone calls, texting, web access, running apps I've installed. Except for a couple of random reboots (none recently) and one system freeze (pulled the battery) over 30 days, I've had no real problems. It's fast when I have a good data connection, and I don't think it's the phone's fault when I don't. I did give AT&T a list of issues for their survey, but overall, I'm satisfied.
As for the Carrier IQ issue, any phone I get from AT&T (except for possibly the iPhone 4S) will have CIQ software on it. Rooting, when available, may not be totally stable yet for any of the new LTE phones. The best solution for me is to keep my communications plain vanilla, which I do any way, so there's nothing that I need to be worried about. I do want to CIQ stuff off my phone if and when there is a safe way to do it.

as for rooting LTE phones, i guess you havent seen the GS2 Skyrocket forums? its rooted and has custom roms.
I have 211 confirmed receipts so far from those were lied to and are joining the class action suit.

Our own Gsleon has been talking with Evil_Devnull a little bit. Evil is working on rooting the HTC Rezound (which is nearly identical to the Vivid). So as of now, keep on the lookout for the progress with the Rezound root, because that could very well translate to when/how we Vivid owners get root.

Went in to return the vivid tonight...
I didn't.
Quite simply, there is no viable alternative.
The skyrockets screen is horrendous and build quality is scary.
The nitro has the most beautiful screen I have ever seen but it is so laggy, unresponsive and jittery it feels like am entry level Android device, plus even with an unlocked bootloader devs hate LG so who knows what roms will ever come out for it.
So I sit... And pray someone crack this thing.

Finally... someone talks some sense. LG development is/has always been a joke. Samsung development consists of TouchWiz and AOSP Rom's (is there even a difference between the two?). ALL in which have been left out in the cold by VERIZON... It just Burns me up that I finally thought this device would be the one to finally get special attention but ha I was wrong... It was a flagship device now it's just a ugly stepchild... next thing you know this device won't get OFFICIAL ICS anymore. I wish just once I would luck out on a device for once. Feel free to let out your android woes I was just venting a little.

To the contrary, I am very happy with my Bionic. It ran fine on stock .905, but I have flashed the .232 ICS update and it's even better. I think it is extremely likely we'll get the official ICS update. I don't think the phone needs special attention. It stands on its merits and I don't think I would be happier with a Razr, Galaxy, or some other phone.
I can understand that but by special attention I meant bootloader unlocking.. It is a good phone though.

Yeah if Moto doesn't step up to the plate and unlock the Bionic I will be pissed off. And I will vote with my wallet when it comes time for another phone! However, I honestly believe ICS is not too far off into the the future and the .232 leak is quite nice.
As I recall everyone always knew Bionics bootloader was locked and no one ever promised it would be unlocked.
Unfortunately I didn't know so I guess I'm that 1% who didn't..

They never did. They were ambiguous on whether it would be unlockable or not. Some people took that ambiguity to mean it would be unlockable.
I for one Love my bionic. I'm also in the 1% not knowing about the locked bootloader but I blame myself for not researching that before I purchased the phone. I'm rooted and on ICS .232 and LOVE it.I don't need to be rooted. I had CM7 on my last device but ICS is everything I wanted and it works so smoothly. Plus it bumped my clock speed up to 1200Mhz. Honestly the specs on this phone is top shelf and was free with a 2year contract (got it June 28th). No other phone was priced this way that was 4g dual core with a gig of DDR2 ram except the LG Lucid ($30). My only complaint is the screen. 720p resolution would have been nice but for what it is and what I paid I could not complain.
Your in the same boat as me I also did not research about the bootloader... So I blame myself also on that part.

I came from a HTC and may go back to HTC or Samsung when the time comes, but I've got almost 14 months till I can upgrade and a lot can change in that amount of time. For now I don't have the upgrade bug. The Bionic works terrific for me. Well, thats a lie. I want the OTA ICS update lol... but don't we all.
Verizon green lit the release of ICS for the thunderbolt. Not trying to give anyone false hope for any relief but I have seen this before with Verizon where they upgrade a phone well beyond the point one would expect... However I have only seen them do this with HTC phones...
Congrats to Thunderbolt users if there were any left.

Wait a few months. Motorola is working on their first Google ran device that if rumors are true, should be pretty nice. I'm not sure if it will be a Nexus or if Google will put their own spin on things, but it should be nice either way. Google was already able to get Motorola to start releasing developer editions for their newer phones.

Not really a Motorola fan. I really liked the HTC One but no Verizon love. Not really a Samsung fan either. My co-worker has an S3 and I am not impressed. I am not locked into the Android ecosystem anymore. I should be getting a WP8 phone from work for testing. I will run with that for a time (so I do not have to renew and lose my unlimited data). Maybe Verizon will get a One some day.
