3G not working but I've had some H reception

For a while now my 3G connection has not been working but I have full Edge reception and I have had some intermittent H reception. I have flashed the ROM, changed the radio and switched my SIM card but nothing has changed this.
Is the phone made to have 3G and H reception from the same chip, (most posts seem to say this is a hardware issue, that a microchip has burned out on the motherboard)
Maybe someone knows how to get the phone to turn off 3G but retain H reception?

H icon means HSDPA this is part of 3G. So there is no option to disable 3G leaving HSDPA active. But I can be wrong ;d

And I had similar problems, but they solved themselves . I think they was caused by lack of range ( I have H under the table, but over Edge only...).

It might help to diable HSDPA using a program like kaiser tweak.

Disable "3G" while enabling "H" - possible or not?

My carrier has bad 3G operation, whilst HSDPA works fine. The problem is that phone sometimes switches between 3G and H, and when it does switch to 3G, there is no internet until it swithes back to H or down to E. I'm almost sure that this is caused by carrier, and I can't fix it with firmware. So I would like my Tab to avoid 3G mode at all, while using H and E. Can I set it to do so?

Unfortunately, it's impossible, you can either choose "H" & "3G" with wcdma/umts or "G" & "E" with GSM in Mobile Networks. You can't choose to leave out 3G when it's doing H, cause both of them are under wcdma mode.
Of cause, if you leave your "Network mode" to auto, it will jump around gsm and wcdma when it see fit. By choosing it to run GSM mode only, will keep your network connect to "E"/"G(gprs)" ONLY; Or WCDMA for "H"/"3G" ONLY.

im from malaysia also,im using samsung g5..in my opinion its the the phone or tab firmware or rom problems..because im using maxis and digi broadband..both network are having problem..3g and hsdpa both switch on and back 3g h 3g h..not stabil and anoyying..

as title i make this question.i often connect to internet by 3g connection.i went to setting/mobile network then i set data connection: on,3g connection: on and my country APN.My Hd7 work well ,but only "use 3g connection when availale". it almost switch to 2g network

Go to the dialer. Type ##3282#. Go to settings, under 'Network Type', choose 3G only. If it's already on 3G only (I think it moves back and forth between 2G only and 3G only while on Automatic mode), change it to 2G only, then back to 3G only. This will keep it on 3G only.

APN List

Hi there,
I have a question regarding the APN list in Android. I mostly use stock ROMS, and I noticed that my provider (Telfort, Netherlands) uses a network by KPN (that's another provider). The result is that every time I connect my Wireless Data, I need to enable roaming. Result of that is that I cannot see to which network I'm connected (2g, 3g).
A week ago I flashed the Omni Rom. Excellent Rom, but it is not suitable for me yet. Anyway, the network connectivity indicator showed 2g, 3g, HSDPA, etc. It works in that ROM, and I didn't have to enable roaming.
So to come to the question, can I add a list of APN of some kind, so I can see my network mode?

How can I neable just 3G/4G network mode on my SM-N920G?

I'm trying to get the best Internet connection on my phone. My carrier doesn't support voice over LTE so if I set the Network mode to LTE only I got no calls incoming or outgoing.
The other options I have are 2G only or 3G only, which makes my LTE data plan useless.
Best option is to have it configured to 2G/3G/LTE, but the problem is that when I'm usually stuck with an excellent 2G connection (with useless internet), instead of a not lousy/not great 3G connection, which still has better Internet speed and stability than 4G.
I'm looking to have my phone only see 3G/4G and not 2G, but I don't have a network mode for that. How can I enable the network mode I require?
I'm rooted so if I can enable it somewhere in the system, that is an option.
