I flashed the latest official firmware...
Than after all my attempts i can't install any ROM, except official 2.1.
Please, write me instructions how to install CM7 - i need help...
I have rooted 2.1 with xRecovery - what's next?
Go to xrecrovery choose instal custom zip from sd card hoose zip from sd card find your mini cm 7 install rom and factory reset/full wipe.
It depends on ROM. Some of CM7 works only on custom kernels, so You should first check if You will be able to unlock bootloader. Look behind Your battery - on the stick there should be something like xxWyy which will tell You the year and the week of Your board. If it's older than 11W26 (26th week of 2011) - U may unlock bootloader and install custom kernel (on Your own risk ;P). If not - You shouldn't do this and search for ROMs working on SE stock kernel

Also, some ROM required CWM instead of Xrecovery, so read carefully before attempting anything.
Hmmmm
I unlocked bootloader long time ago(10WW48 on the sticker).
to przemek4113: Just installing from xrecovery gives me a unbooting phone.
I tried Froyo, but it doesn't boot too.
Then i'm flashing(Xrecovery doesn't give me a booting phone even if i recover all system) official 2.1.
This phone was bought with GinderDX on it. But latest versions need new kernels(flashing kernel bricks phone).
May be try Previous versions of GingerDX?
Really, i tried about seven customs...
P.S. I'm installing xrecovery ROM's from Xrecovery and CWM ROM's from CWM...

Mind to elaborate where you read that "latest versions need new kernels"?
GingerDX runs on STOCK KERNEL, LinuxDX as well as Alfs. I fail to find the part in doixanh's post where it says something about forcing a certain kernel to be used.
Make sure you have an older x8 than 11w29, its under the battery. When the number is 11w29 or newer, you'll not get CM. Unlock your bootloader.
Download and flash FXP kernel. Install official CM with the kernel built-in CWM. I recommend to flash nAa kernel after install the CM, it's much better.

If you want CM7 you should go to this thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585
That's my fault - i was speaking about another ROM. Not GingerDX - but it doesn't boot too.
I followed advise about miniCM7.
Flashed kernel ->then wiped all(i disliked the message about ext4 - there's no this partition - probably that's the problem???) ->installed ROM. Nothing.
"nAa kernel" logo appears and then it reboots.
UPD:
I've installed GingerXperia(v19) via CWM.
Then -
I've flashed all kernel, fota and smth else(not all files from 2.1.1).
Then it booted...strange)
But i'll try to work with other kernels...

Flash Tool - I've seen links on it thousand times on 4pda.ru, but not here - i suppose it to be in the branch about X10.
http://www.mediafire.com/?z7fmpiragbbdxdu - here is flasher.
http://depositfiles.com/files/c2gllgt6t - or here, with official firmware
It would be great if somebody could provide the step by step procedure of flashing my w8 to get past the se logo....
1)Download all archives above
2)Run flasher
3)Press "Flash" and choose necessary firmware
4)follow advices of software
5)reboot -> You have official 2.1
then
1)check your bootloader(http://4pda.ru/forum/dl/post/1227710/S1tool.7z) with this tool
2)unlock it if it is able for you
3)take root(superoneclick with debugging)
4)make xrecovery
5)install any xrecovery zip
or
alt 5)make CWM
alt 6)install any CWM zip
or
install kernel
then install zip
Firstly try it from xrecovery. If you have some problems - write PM to me)
I have done it and successfully flashed as per flashtool...but now even i cant boot stuck at "sony ericsson" now the animated logo works and reboots automatically...pls help
Have you done "user-wipe" in Flash Tool???
Here is from friendly branchcontains a collection of GingerDX 013-022 and some other goodies in the "Sony Ericsson" folder - i.e. Basebands, PCC, SEUS, Flashtool)

You have started two same thread on the same problem! Which version of aNa kernel and ROM you are using? Can you go into the Recovery with BACK button?
If so, do a full wipe and install the ROM again with the custom zip files from SDcard.
Please let us have more details so you could help you better!

Well, and you wonder why it "dies" at the attempt to boot?
The STOCK ROM does NOT work with nAa or Alfs!
Now go and flash MiniCM7 or restore the Stock Kernel and keep on improving your knowledge before running free and messing up.

What saintckk wanted to say is this ...
If you look at the thread title of nobodyAtall's Kernel thread it reads:
[KERNEL] nAa-10 [28/1/12] Custom Gingerbread kernel + CWM Recovery
You notice the "Gingerbread" I made bold?
Android 2.1.x --> Eclair
Android 2.2.x --> Froyo
Android 2.3.x --> Gingerbread
Android 3.x.x --> Honeycomb
Android 4.0.x --> Ice Cream Sandwich
Since the thread title points out that the kernel is intended to be used with Gingerbread ROMs you can't use it with older Android versions.
But that's just half the story.
Not every 2.3.x (aka "Gingerbread") custom ROM will actually work with every custom Kernel.
For example:
GingerDX runs on Stock Kernel, Alfs or Linux DX
MiniCM7 runs best on nAa ONLY
This means you have to use a befitting kernel for the ROM of your choice. The supported Kernels of a ROM are either noted down in the thread title or somewhere in the 1st post.
The simple fact is that the 2.1 STOCK ROM does NOT work with custom kernels at all as it has never been made to run on a custom kernel.
Note: I'm ignoring the fact here that lrakkarl's FroyoPro can also run on Alfs.
That being straightened out ...
To resolve your problem do as I wrote above. Either flash MiniCM7 (v2.1.8) or flash back the stock kernel and stay on the stock ROM.
Again: The Stock ROM does NOT work with custom kernels!
NO.... I try of 5 hours and nothing I can fix this... X(
Well...
To flash MiniCM7 (requires "adb" as you're stuck at boot AND some knowledge about how to do it):
- Download the ZIP of the ROM
- Connect your X8 to the Computer by using the USB cable
- Turn on the phone and once the SONY ERICSSON logo appears keep on tapping onto the screen to get into CWM.
- "Mount SD-card"
- adb connect
- adb push C:\path\to\MiniCM7.zip /sdcard
- Flash MiniCM7 from your SD card
- Full Wipe
- Reboot
The other way would be as hrvoje334 pointed out above ...
Flash back to Stock and retry from there.

Ok ...
Download Flashtool
Download the Stock Kernel FTF
Download the Stock 2.1.1.C.0.0 Stock ROM FTF
Put the ftf files into the "firmwares" directory inside the Flashtool directory.
Start Flashtool
Click the "Flash" button and select the kernel ftf.
In the next window don't do anything, just click "OK"
Flashtool will now tell you to ...
- TURN THE PHONE OFF
- Press the Back button and keep it pressed
- Connect the phone to the computer
Once you see that flashtool recognized the phone and started to flash the kernel you can release the back button.
Repeat the procedure a second time, but this time you select the ROM FTF.
Once that's done you're back on the Stock Kernel and Stock ROM.
From there you need to root the phone again and either install xRecovery or Dual Mode recovery (to have xRecovery AND CWM).
You may also try with PC Companion instead of Flashtool, but in case PC Companion tells you to take a hike you need to go down the Flashtool route.

You can't do this on custom kernel
Hi!
I had a problem with my smart (if you call me, it reboot, something reboot automatically). I was using GingerDX v21 and v22. I downgraded to 2.1 via PC Companion but doesn't works.
So, I decided to use MiniCM7. I followed this tuto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553 and the bootloader unlock tuto too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Well, I did everything correctly, I guess. I see the nAa logo when I turn on my smart and I can enter in CWM-Recovery.
I have installed the MiniCM7-2.1.8-shakira, MiniCM7-2.1.7-shakira, MiniCM7-2.1.6-X8, GingerXperiaRay_V004 and PrimeHD20 but I can't pass of boot (bootlooping).
I don't know if I did something wrong. I had instaled too E15_nAa-09_2.6.29.6-nAa-09 and E15_nAa-06b_2.6.29.6-nAa-06b (first I tried v10). I everytime wipe all data.
If I install the original kernel and rom it works normally. I don't know what I can do. I do the same process three times, wiping all, installing, etc. and nothing!
What I'm doing wrong? There are some possibilities of my smart don't support it?
read this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011071 to go back to 2.1...
then root, install xrecovery, unlock bootloader, flash nAa kernel you need ,and then
install MiniCM7...
try this method
1.root
2.unlock bootloader
3.flash nAa v10
4.then your phone will have CWM and flash the rom minicm7.218
5.flash google gapps gb
6.reboot and see it bootloop or not??

is this working?
First of all i would like to thanks all the Developers for their Incredible work on this site. I am using this site for a long time it helped me in solving many issues. I flashed many Custom ROMS on My X8 & X10 never had big issues so there was no need to post just becuase there was already so much of information here. But from last 4 days i am messing with my X8 when i tried flashing Jelly Bean Rom. Previously i was using 2.3.7 in my x8.I cant say i am very good but i am not new to these Roms. I actually searched alot but failed so i am here for help. In order to use Jelly Bean my x8 is having Bootloop issue. I follow all the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789713 regarding Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136211. I follow each guidelines but still Bootloop . Not only that i cant use any other custom rom now everytime bootloop. SESU repair my phone but i cant use 2.1 now after using custom roms in x8 for longtime, It feels pathetic Now i dnt want Jelly Bean in x8 anymore i ll be more than happy if i get 2.3.7 back
I tried different Roms , Kernels but everytime same result "Bootloop"
Rooting fine, Flashing Kernel fine,, Rom instalation fine. Had doubt regarding Unlocking Bootloader ( Whether its properly unlocked or not). so Flashtool says Its "unlocked" but it also said it cant be "unlocked officially". So i tried another way to with s1 tools from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23680742&postcount=1 and r is smaller too RUNNING S1_EROM VER "r8A029". Now i am really confuse. tired and fed up 4 days GingerXperia, JellyBread.Jelly Bean everything failed
But i want to add 1 thing which is related to BLU because i cant dial *#*#7378423#*#* service menu from my x8 is that the clue or issue. Plz members help me out. Thanks in Advance.
Please Help

Hello guys!
I recently tried to update my rom to my xperia x8 and i chose ICS minicm9 - shakira 3-0-4 for xperia x8. I unlocked my bootloader succesful and i installed the nAa kernel version 2.6.29.6 to my phone (i forgot to say i ve already rooted it and did a backup file with xrecovery).
Anyways the phone stuck at the sony ericsson screen after the kernel screen and never opened... I opened CWM , made a backup , wiped the data and tried to install the ICS but every time i tried (3-4 times) i got an error : "Can't open /sdcard/MiniCM9-3.0.4-shakira.zip (bad) Installation aborted". I tried to do my xrecovery backup but CWM couldn't find any backup files! I tried to connect phone with PC companion in flash mode but it recognises it as an xperia x10 and i can't do anything with it!!! I tried everything pls help me!!!:crying:

first of all.... cwm will never find the backup made by xrecovery because they are in different folders... for cwm to find them take the backup folder from xrecovery folder to the clockworkmod folder...
and then
reflash the kernel and try installation again to remove that stuck at SE logo problem.....
you need to install """"nAa ICS"""" kernel for miniCM9.... i think you installed nAa GB kernel and that is what creating problems..
try installing rom after that if it shows error there is some problem with the zip file i suppose... tell me if it gives error after this and see if it gives status 6 or status 7 error..
anyway you will have to redownload the zip..something might have went wrong during download.
and the flashtool recognizes it as x10 because you set it that way...reinstall it...
when it asks you do you want to "permanenty identify device?" i think you selected x10... next time it asks you select X8
Here's my opinion. I'm not sure how but if what you say is true, that you're running nAa ics kernel, it shouldn't be stuck at the SE logo. 2nd, if you're on a custom kernel, you won't have xrecovery. Third, our phones, after flashing kernels are recognized as X10's, not X8's.
@CnC-ROCK xrecovery backups can't be restored that way. i tried and failed
@OP if you've successfully installed nAa-ICS then you should not see the SE logo. try reflashing and wiping cache partition.
Well nothing worked! I have the proper kernel for my device and everything but i can't install the ICS and i did what you said me about the restore but it told me something about MD5 (doesn't match i think or something)
Reflash stock kernel. Then flash the ROM again. And finally flash your kernel back.
Please Press The Thanks Button
It's my matter how I send this.
Please stop telling me to reflash again! I told you i did it many times and nothing worked! Please tell me how i can change to the basic kernel and then i ll do the process again from the begin , as nothing works! Thank you!
Download flashtool and stock firmware then flash firmware through flashtool

He actually said don't tell him to reflash custom kernel. And to be honest if he's seeing anything with Sony on boot then he definitely isn't flashing right.
OP how exactly did you flash the ICS kernel?

download the file again, sometimes it happens when the file is not properly downloaded.
@op try to restore with pccompanion.
If you can't do this, you have to flash (stock kernel and stock rom)

Greetings from Colombia. The post I translated with Google translator because not speak English. Hope is not a big problem and I hope I helped. Thanks again.
My problem is this. I have an Xperia X8 (E15i - 11w13) and a few days ago I returned my Xperia X8 to PC COMPANION Stock (Stock Firmware and Kernel) Then using the ROM: rDroid (The best ROM for me)
With my phone in stock. Decides to Flashing ...
+ Then I ROOT my phone with flashtool. All good up there.
+ I decided to install the xRecovery as always and installed (Copying 3 files to System / Bin with RootExplorer)
Restart .. And no, it did not work.
- Investigate and maybe he problem was the permissions. I repeated the process, modify permissions ... And no, it did not work
- Maybe it was the Busybox?. I repeated the process after installing Busybox from the Android Market ... And nothing
- So I thought ... and it decided to install the xRecovery Flashtool, I did and .. It worked!
Already with the xRecovery working and the new ROM on SD Card, decided Flashing.
+ Realize what Wipes and install the ROM ... There all good
+But when the cell lit New ROM test, shoot me Restarts every 10min, with a message in the notification bar that says: "It is safe to remove the SD"
+Or failed the internet or in the Market / Play Store (would not let me download any APP)
+Or And there did not return to take the ROM .. It was stuck on the logo of SONY
+Or And Not even let me enter the xRecovery
Then I play do ... TOTAL STOCK Back to PC Companion.
I returned to Perform ROOT process, Xrecovery (with Flashtool) ... All to Flash the ROM withthe rDroid Cel (The one I was using before the problem and it works excellent)
But what ... Again the same problem. The constant pulling reboot message "Safe to remove the SD"
So when I went back to try to get the xRecovery .. He returned and stayed stuck in the Logo of SE.
And I got to re-do?... Make PC STOCK TOTAL COMPANION :crying:
¡HELP ME!
hi. i understand that you don't speak english, and thanks for the effort in using translate, but i'm afraid i'm not sure i understand. are you experiencing a soft brick now? or is the sdcard error the issue?
if you have a soft brick (stuck in sony logo), try using seus instead of pcc if pcc doesn't work.
if you're experiencing the sdcard issue, backup your sdcard and reformat it. also, install cwm instead of xrecovery as some roms apparently do not support xrecov (i have not experienced it though).
also, are you on stock kernel? i'm not familiar with the rom you're using. or is your bootloader unlocked and you have a custom kernel? and what is the new rom you're trying to use?
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
Just helping
if u want to fix the booloop (stuck at sony logo)
just flash the original firmware by flash tool
download here
and if u want to install custom rom
- Flash the kernel
- Full Wipe (dalvik cache and batery stats)
- Factory Reset
- Install ROM

Hello. Thanks for answering Cascabel.
But I had no brick problem, or soft or hard.
The phone works normally with the Stock ROM, but with a Custom ROM works but has problems (the same problem throughout the ROM I try)
Buy a New SD card (8GB Kingston) to see if the problem was on the sd card. And it still has the same problem with the new card

No. With STOCK ROM works perfectly, without any fail.

what ROM did you use? "Safe to remove SD" was a known bug in early days of Froyo/GB.

Good news, for now...
Thanks for your answers. Yesterday test a ROM (Xperia SOUL Engine Generation4) And so far not filed failures..
The problem of "Safe to remove SD" I had in GB (ROM android 2.3.5)
+I have to test what the Xrecovery. See if I work or if I presented another problem (When using xRecovery, pressing the back key and the phone would not start and it stuck in the logo of Sony Ericsson)

You don't test or mess xrecovery if you are in custom rom. You'll soft brick even you can boot up to xrecovery and xrec uses amend scripting so CWM in custom rom is the best. Xrec uses busybox and all custom rom can't update busybox.
