[Q] Status bar corruption issues in Liquid Gingerbread - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I am running Liquid Gingerbread ROM version 3.0 and I installed it just two days ago. However, I have already managed to screw something up. Something I have done has caused status bar corruption. When the notifications are closed, my battery icon does not "line up" with the actual meter - the green section isn't the right height and sometimes it doesn't show at all. It's like it is referencing the wrong part of the image containing the bar. Also, when I open the notifications, there is a bunch of random text at the top of the screen that looks like a bunch of salutations - I found the full string and it includes DR, MR, MRS, PASTOR, etc.
What do I need to clear/edit/delete/erase/run to fix this? I've messed around with Android and *NIX for a long time but I am at a loss on this one.
I can't post links but you can see a demonstration of these issues at i.eho.st/ppil41mx.png and i.eho.st/ppqb39u1.png

Nevermind -- what I did to fix this was NANDroid backup my data: partition, reflash the same ROM, then restore the data: backup. Apparently whatever caused this was saved in system: because that took care of it. Thanks for reading anyway!
Here is what my status bar said, in case someone is googling for this problem: 1LT, 1ST, 2LT, 2ND, 3RD, ADMIRAL, CAPT, CAPTAIN, COL, CPT, DR, GEN, GENERAL, LCDR, LT, LTC, LTG, LTJG, MAJ, MAJOR, MG, MR, MRS, MS, PASTOR, PROF, REP, REVEREND, REV, SEN, ST

Update to 9.1.A.0.489 rolling out in Canada

Rolling out and speedily downloaded and installed. No problems - keeping things stock until Bootloader Unlocking becomes possible.
Updated my lt30a through PC Companion with no troubles though it's weird (no longer) to have it update while the phone is turned off. My preferences are preserved and I will check deeper as the day goes on to verify no battery stealing apps have been re-enabled. My provider (MTS) could not let me know when this update would become available - but one month wait was certainly not unreasonable. I will do what I can about generating an ftf for this phone and it's provider. Cheers.
has the phone stayed rooted after update?
I'm totally stock - not rooted. So no, it's not rooted and never was.
Get back some aesthetics from 4.0.4?
There's a ton of 4.1.2 update threads for various regions, but I'm in Canada so I'll try here first.
Is there a way to kind of revert back to ICE aethetics in JB?
Specifically, I absolutely can't stand the new forced white aesthetic prevalent in messaging, contacts, etc. More than the white itself is that there appears to be no way to change it. It's such an arbitrary change, and forced.
On top of that, I can't even customize the "secondary" colour (say, the colour of the text messaging 'bubbles') as I am forced to choose from preset themes and all of them are some variant of a pastel colour.
Basically, I want the dark grey background back, across the board. Is there a way to do this without rooting? Or, is this possible if I do root?
I even looked at third-party messaging apps, but even if I can customize them more, they all look like horrible iOS knock offs. I loved the Sony/Android look of 4.0.4.
Any help is really appreciated. It's subjective, I know, but it's pissing me off.

Agreed... lots of the aesthetic changes are awful imo. I ended up flashing back to stock.

Graphical bug after script-flashing Jelly Bean

I was following the instructions in this thread: [SCRIPT] DROID 4 Utility XT894 Jellybean -- Windows + Mac + Linux (All In One!) (can't post there because mt post count is too low)
The update seemed to flash fine, but I'm having this weird graphical glitch, where the bottom third of the screen will flash with horizontal white-ish bars, and part of that area will occasionally flicker up to the top right of the screen. (no webkey yet so i can't screenshot it)
Am I just boned as far as this update goes? Should I try for cyanogenmod after all?
to update: the screen problems go away if I slide from one screen to another in the launcher or the app tray, but the problems come back almost immediately, and static screens have no way to scroll. Also, when the page redraws, it's abysmally slow.
shameless post count inflation. don't hate me.
Cyanogenmod promises better and greater returns, so I suggest you should stick with that

i have exactly the same problem like jugglervr. I used the same instructions like him and got the same graphical errors, and the safestramp-splashscreen ist dark als well (as he mentioned here). I flashed it again and again, but still the same problem.
How did jugglervr solve the problem? DId he install cyanogenmod, and how if safestramp doesnt work?

Nexus 6

I'm thinking of purchasing one would someone be willing to tell me the pro's and con's of this phone?
before you read my response, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/attention-questions-t3228454
pro.. i love the damn thing too much, its seriously making me think twice about buying a nexus 6p

I got one yesterday and love it. Easy to unlock the bootloader and rooting. Using wufresh toolkit is foolproof. Now to decided if I should make a ROM or just use what's out there which is plenty. No regrets at all. And this device always getting updates. Good luck.

Its a super phone! Once you get hooked to the display, you won't like any thing smaller. Fluid as water, looks gorgeous, gets latest from Google, i already have 6.0.1 running on it! Numerous custom roms, best of community support!

I got one from Amazon's black friday deal. Had an HTC one m9 beforry but the N6 serves my purposes better.
Yea it's a little large and needs some time to get use to the size, but it's a great phone. Very smooth and no lag at all. You won't be disappointed.
It's a solid device. If you open up a lot of apps, it's better than any phone I've used at keeping them in system memory.
The camera isn't good without ideal light, and the vibration motor is the worst since my Moto Cliq. But you can root away one, the other not so much
i love mine, its fast, its big..handy if your eyes are getting a bit older. Easy to root, unlock. Now if i only knew how to make roms i would be very happy.

Well, with a lot of patience, I can assure you
For starters, build a basic AOSP rom, then take your time to map out how what works, and take baby steps.
So far the only thing I've changed was:
- Dismiss all button for recents
- Fix menu button on the navigation bar, now it has four buttons equally distributed
- UI tuner is always on, and can't be turned off (but I left the spinning gear in, it's cool)
- Settings displays my version
- You can access the Clock app tapping any time or date field on the status bar, and not just the next alarm
- And more fixes, like making Battery saving location not soft rebooting on AOSP
- And the most significant change that the white "android" boot animation (the one you see if sou don't have a botanimation.zip) is replaced by a cyan colored "cyosp" one (you can see in my signature)

Thanks for your answer
I'm also thinking of purchasing this phone very soon. Few questions as well:
The phone is already a year old. Is this phone good if I'm thinking of using it for at least 18mo?
That display/brightness...I've heard its really dim (270 nits, really?), and damn near unreadable outdoors. Just overexhaggerating here on reviewers' part? As a reference, I'm coming from an LG G3.
Thanks!

Mod Android Auto GUI to show large clock on bottom command bar

I own a Mazda CX-5 and recently paid for the upgrade of the infotainment to add Android Auto.
The main issue is that once AA is running the clock becomes almost unreadable! it's too small an overlaid on the app (mostly Waze for my purposes).
I would like to be able to move the clock to the bottom bar of AA in order to ensure it's always there and way bigger then now.
I started by decompiling the AA APK etc... but then come to the conclusion that probably someone else already tried something like that and that in general here in the forum there will surely be some kind of guide on how to decompile/repackage the AA and which layouts/bundles to edit for which result: unfortunately I didn't find any such guide
So my questions:
1 - is already out there any AA rebuild which puts a large clock in the bottom bar?
2 - if not: is there any guide on how to open and repackage AA and which are the main requirements to make it work again after repackaging?
3 - if not: at least some steps on how to mod some layouts and repackage in a way which allows it to work?
4 - if not: anyone willing to share suggestions on issues I'll meet (i.e. google signature required for AA, special permissions etc...) ?
5 - if not: anyone out there who already tried (and failed) willing to share his experience so that I don't start the try-fail process from scratch?
thanks everyone for helping!
p.s.: no Xposed at current stage since I'm using the company's phone and I'm not willing to root it, thanks!
Hi, i know this a old post and i'm sorry if my English is a little bad. You resolve the clock problem? I buy a CX 5 too and have same problem and question.
There's an option to do just so with Substratum and the theme Extras For AA
Having the same problem I made a small application which gives the time all the time:
[CLOCK] 0.2 Always displayed
-Some car radios do not display the time when an app is in full screen (waze). So I developed a small application that displays the time permanently. Usage: install the app and start. The position can be modified by sliding, it will be memorized...

[ROM][GT-P7501][CM 10.1]quick settings panel not opening

Hi, everyone.
I was given an (old) Samsung Galaxy Pad 10.1N (GT-P7501) some time ago. Now I got around updating it from Android 3.2 (!!!) to stock 4.04 and then (since some apps still didn't work) to CM 10.1 (the latest I could find; equivalent to 4.2). Those ROMs are for GT-P7500 but I read that there were no hardware changes, only design, so I tried. Apps work now.
But: The quick settings pulldown can't be pulled down. This is not a drama since I cant go through the settings, too. It's just somewhat annoying.
I found this thread with a related (but not identical) problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428611 Setting the clock to 24h or 12h on the tablet doesn't make any difference.
The thing is though, that when the tablet is horizontal, I can pull down the notification pulldown about two thirds of the screen from the left while the pulldown is only about one third of the screen wide. So something may be wrong with the scaling of the touch vs. pixels for the pulldowns only. (The touch works as expected otherwise.)
In that Thread I linked above adgud mentioned an XML file. - Since Cyanogenmod is dead, I'm asking here: Where in the image can I find that one? (Got it from http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10.1/p4/)
Is it in the boot.img? - What filesystem is that? OSFMount said it mounted it but windows apparently couldn't make out the FS.
Thanks for any help.
PS: I know, I'm about 5 years late with those questions. But what can I do?
