[Q] Graphics Glitch - ClassicNerd Buttery - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where's My Water app seems to have graphics glitches on this ROM but KANG ROM seems fine. I thought these are all based off CM work? I would expect both to have the glitch?

I also noticed this glitch in the browser. And as you note, I haven't seen it with any of the other ROMs. I know the classicnerd ROM is not a kang of CM9, its separate. So while they share the same camera or HD video deficciencies, for it to have its own issues it somewhat expected.

Haha yeah, I noticed the stock browser lost its top. Maybe next build they'll have wifi fixed too. I love this rom so far. It may just be me, but I thought it felt way smoother than cm9.

I had the same problem with tabs disappearing, go to settings in the browser then labs and select quick controls go back to the browser and press on the page to the right and a menu opens up select setting go to labs de-select quick controls and the tabs should come back

But I'm addicted to the quick controls ...
I noticed in all ICS ROMs the tabs are elusive with quick controls enabled (maybe its ICS Browser + that has the issue, but I think the user agent is a necessity). I just got used to using the preview selector in the quick control to jump to the other tab, and close it with the quick controls.

[Q] There's one issue keeping me on 1.0.1, anyone else notice this? (Updated w/Video)

The issue is that installing 1.1 seems to cause DolphinHD to adopt the same pinch-zoom behavior as the stock browser. It is noticeably more laggy and seems to constantly try to do some sort of scaling/page formatting/text wrap or something that adds an extra half second to every simple zoom action. It also seems to "grab" links as I'm zooming and registers them as long presses, something it doesn't do with 1.0.1. It feels less precise and just wonky, which is frustrating because I'm 100% happy with the way it works before I upgrade.
1.1 has some very tangible benefits that I would like to have, but I use my NC primarily as a web browsing tablet when I'm not reading and this issue has been a deal-breaker for me in regards to leaving 1.0.1. I've upgraded to 1.1 several different times, using several different methods, but always end up switching back after using DolphinHD for a few minutes.
Am I the only one that notices this? Is there some sort of system-wide "engine" that handles pinch-zoom? And if there is, would it be possible to block those related files from updating?
EDIT: I've made a short/sloppy video to demonstrate the problem I'm having a little better. The quality is pretty bad, but it shows the lag and link "grabbing" issues fairly well. I should also mention that I've now tried DolphinHD 4.2/4.3/4.4, Dolphin Mini and the stock browser on 1.1 and they all behave identically in this regard. The only change between the first clip and the second is the upgrade from 1.0.1 to 1.1.
Here's the video.
I'm on 1.1 autonooter 3. My NC was shipped with 1.0.1 and I spent little to no time on 1.0.1 before I upgraded and rooted.
For what it's worth, the stock browser does pinch zoom on 1.1.
However, If you prefer Dolphin, I can understand that.
I have read that if you downgrade dolphin, you can get more stability. Not sure if you will retain pinch zoom or not. I do not use dolphin so I can't confirm.
I should have mentioned that this is with DolphinHD 4.2 on both 1.0.1 and 1.1.
Basically,
DolphinHD 4.2 + 1.0.1 = perfect, lag free pinch-zoom
DolphinHD 4.2 OR 4.3 OR 4.4 OR Mini + 1.1 = weird, laggy pinch-zoom
My uneducated guess is that there is some sort of underlying engine that handles pinch-zoom and page formatting/scaling that gets changed during the 1.1 upgrade. I've fiddled with all of the settings in the stock browser and Dolphin and none of them change this behavior. I haven't tested with any of the other 3rd party browsers.
Miemens, it is in the changelog of the app in the marketplace. Looks like they are working on a fix and workaround is last version.

That is a different issue. My problem is that pinch-zoom behaves completely differently between 1.0.1 and 1.1, both running the identical version (4.2) of DolphinHD.
Have you tried Dolphin Mini? I found that while it doesn't have pinch to zoom on 1.0.1, it is much faster and smoother when compared to any other browser. However, I did read that Dolphin Mini's pinch to zoom works on 1.1, so perhaps it would behoove you to try it out.

I just gave Mini a try and it does the same thing. I also tried DolphinHD 4.3 and the brand new 4.4 and they do it as well.
Have you tried another browser?? I found Dolphin slow and quirky, where Opera 10 works awesome on the NC (and on my Nexus One).
I've tried Opera Mobile under 1.0.1 and didn't like it. I'm mainly trying to figure out what it is exactly that changes between 1.0.1 and 1.1 to cause a behavior difference in Dolphin. I'm very very satisfied with Dolphin HD 4.2 under 1.0.1.
Dolphin HD is awesome...but...no pinch to zoom

Hey there, i have NC 1.0.1. rooted via auto-nooter, i've been taking care of random issues, and i'm stuck on this zoom thing. I can use the gestures with Dolphin and created one that will zoom the screen, but i thought from reading about Dolphin, and by reading this post which i searched to find if this was already being discussed that this browser indeed should do pinch to zoom. For me though, it isn't working. I looked at Dolphin's menu for a setup area where maybe it wasn't enabled right away, but no dice. Anybody know how to get it if it's not immediately working?
thanks in advance!!

With 1.0.1 you have to downgrade to DolphinHD 4.2, which is available on their website (though that seems to be down right now) to keep pinch-zoom from breaking altogether.

[Q] Winamp controls using music buttons?

I use Winamp for music, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to use the volume buttons to control music? I know it's possible on Cyanogen mod, but I'm using serendipity for now until CM is stable...does anyone know if music controls with volume buttons is possible?
is there anything on serendipity function wise that cm7 doesnt have that you use/need. because if not cm7 has themes that are close to serendipity and cm7 is actually pretty stable at this point, im using it and i love it.
my issue with CM7 was that battery life was nowhere where I'd like i to be, the headset button isn't functional, and the camera is pretty much unusual/****ty.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the customizability of CM7, and intend to flash it once it's stable, but I'd like to find good replacements for things like Samsung's contact/calander apps, which I think are better than default

Wifi fixed yet?
CM7
On my first full day of CM7 I got better battery life than I did with Perception 10.3
Camera 360 has a free app works perfectly and takes pictures at full resolution, with a normal mode so you don't have to have picture effects, but I don't know about a video recorder replacement yet though.

[Q] Best browser or player to view flash content

Tried cm7 and three browsers but when I try and view
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/images/flash/calculator/optionspricing.html
The experience is frustrating. Seems this content is best viewed on a non tablet, the buttons in the flash content are too small and zooming is quirky.... Any ideas on best method to view on a nook colorj
Sounds to me like the sites you are watching are optimized for the desktop. If they have a mobile version available try that. Also, make sure your browser's user agent is set as mobile or Android so it pulls up the mobile version automatically.
I personally find Dolphin HD to be the best for watching flash. Its especially good for viewing flash that is optimized for a desktop browser. It's usually easy to zoom in and control the buttons but you usually don't have to. You can just hold down on the video and a fullscreen icon appears. Just click that and the video goes to fullscreen. It also makes the controls easier to push once in fullscreen.
It's not 100% perfect though. Some sites seem to work differently than others. Some I have to zoom in and press fullscreen because if I just go to fullscreen using Dolphins icon then the screen will be slightly off center or not completely full screen. Just do what works best for the site you are viewing.
EDIT: I just tried the link you posted and it worked fine for me in Dolphin HD. I just held down on the video and selected the fullscreen option. I'm able to change slides and everything.
Hmm, weird. I tried Dolphin HD, the stock CM7 browser and Miren. They play OK to start out but then once the slide completes I was having great difficulty hitting the "next slide" arrow in all three browsers. I had to tap it many times and then the browser thought I was double tapping or select the "previous slide" arrow by accident... maybe I just need more care....
Hmmm, I am running CM7 nightly build 94 and Darlington's OC kernel. That may be why I am having no problems. What CM7 build and kernel are you running?
Runs fine on CM 7.0.3 using the 4-24-11 OC kernel. I am using Flash 10.3 and Opera w/ the desktop browser script.

Easy. Use Opera Mobile (not mini).
Dolphin doesn't agree with me, skyfire changed for the worst, opera is too red for me, honestly with the flash player update released this week the stock cm7 browser doesn't lag even a bit, I find it faster and better than anything out there for anything that uses flash, just my 2 cents, keep it simple, and for fastest page rendering maxathon blows everything out of the water by far on all of the devices in my sig

Why nook color is very luggy?

I bought a new NC.Both the 1.2 stock rom and cm7.1 are very lugy.Zooming and scrolling in the browser, the aniamtion when opening or closing an application and the menu and etc. are very luggy. I also tried OC to 925mhz but no luck.
Videos that compares nook color and Galaxy Tab shows very smooth operation when comes with the same situation I mentioned above. So Why?
So is "lugy" like trying to do the dougie?

925 speed is not over clocking, it is really stock speed. Is your nc rooted and does it have dal ringers OC kernel? also comparing the speed to a galaxy is not a fair comparison since they are totally different gpus if you are speaking of the 10.1. Root it, install cm on it, then put the right kernel on it, OC then...adjust videos with handbrake and run the videos then...you will be in for a elegant surprise.
CM7 on .32 isn't even laggy at 800mhz on the stock kernel. It's smoother overclocked but it's not a big deal unless you play games where you really need that extra 1-2 fps
I suspect he has something else going on.
I have upgrade to a nightlies version and find a lot smoother now although zooming and scroling in web browser is not so googd as I expected.

Web pages with javascript and lots of ad links really slow the browser down. A good example is the XDA forums which is slowish on my i7 Windows 7 system with 8 GB of memory.
Opera mobile is really smooth compared to the stock browser and Dolphin. The draw back is there aren't many options in the settings.

features over performance always, right?
There's no GPU acceleration in the stock browser so I would use Opera Mobile instead.

BOCA query!!!

This is one hell of a fast rom
Awesome rom by diz. Thanks for making the galaxy tab so slick.
BTW I found one or two issues with my installed rom.I m on Boca rc2.09.
1.The hd flash video playback in the stock browser and dolphin browser hd is choppy and it says that the 'video is not optimized for mobile's.Upto 480p its fine but 720 and 1080 stutter. Why is that?
2.The brightness and 4g options in the settings menu crash evrytime its opened.
I believe it is not a common prob.

The brightness issue is reported, not the one for 4G.
