[Q] Accidentally flashed a Captivate firmware on an Anycall Korean SGS... - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I accidentally flashed an AT&T firmware (Captivate) on a Korean-Type Samsung Galaxy S. To be more specific and detailed, I've written everything below.
Firmware Flashed: 2.3.5 SGH-I897_I897UCKJ1_UC_ATT
Phone I Flashed: SHW-M110S)
My Problem: I ca'nt get into download mode to flash the correct firmware to get it to boot correctly. It turns on, and I can get into recovery mode, but not download mode. The phone turns on, and goes through all the startup screens, but gets stuck on the colorful "S" screen, then reboots again. The second time it boots, it goes past the "S" screen then the screen just turns black. I have no idea what to do.
Any help? Advice? Or suggestions?
Thanks so much in advance

Do you have CWM recovery? If so you can copy a rom in the sd with your computer, plug it in the phone, mount the external_sd and load it from there.
Else, you can get Download mode with an usb cable, search in youtube, there are some interesting videos.

May be you need Usb Jig to go into download mode Instructions below
Needed materials:
1)SgS I9000 (obviously)
2)Microusb Pin with 100*3ohm+1ohm Connected in series to pin 4 and 5Diy tutorial here(otherwise buy it in ebay)
remove your battery fro about 2 min then plug in the usb jig it powers on automatically otherwise just do the normal vol down+enter+power
viola we got download mode
after that download your rom thru odin using a pc
Sorry for my bad English,If i spelled something wrong or a grammatical mistake please correct me

Your English is quite good, your French however not so..
"viola" should be "voilĂ "

UPDATE: Now the phone won't turn on at all. Not even when its plugged in to the wall or the computer...

Use jig method it will work
be sure to take of the battery for 1 min (check the battery voltage using a multimeter it should be around 3.7 above voltsotherwise charge it in ur phone it does charge)and reinsert it and then plug the usb jig NOT THE USB Cable and it powers on automatically otherwise boot it up using vol down+enter+power while the usb jig is connected

Thanks for the help everyone. I've decided to just buy a usb jig after all... Since most of the replies say to do so. I'll order one on ebay, but my last question is does it matter which one I get? I see a lot of Samsung galaxy s2 and galaxy s usb jigs. Mine is the Korean type i9000 and I also have an s2. Is the i9000 usb jig compatible with my Korean one? And there's this usb jig that says its for a galaxy s i9000 AND a galaxy s2 i9100, can I just buy that one for both of my phones?

I can not do anything.... I visited all the forums, but there is a solution, but I do know if the usb jig would work .. Because all youtube video showing usb jig with the problem of the panel exclamation between the cell and the computer, but they do not show the same problem as me
Thing is IF a jig wont fix it you will have to send it to get fixed with a Jtag. Jig can be made with little cost (made mine for about $2.50) or buy em already made for $8-$11.
Keep in mind when I say the jig can fix i mean it can force your phone in to download mode.
-Pull battery
-Plug usb cable
-Put battery & hold Vol+/Vol-
If you can't go in download via this method you need a usb jig to force it.
Then reflash with Odin until successfull. You just had a bad flash and a bad fs will not let you boot the phone normally and use the button combo to go into download so you need to bypass with the usb cable method or the jig.

Yea flashing roms is a big deal you should be sure you read everything before tring then read it a 2nd and 3rd time. And not just info in the op all the info on your device.

{FIXED} take a look at this bricked galaxy tab, repairable? [FIXED]

basically i messed up the bootloaders now it does this (bear with me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkFsZK79XYQ
it only does this when plugged into the wall and it will not do anything if plugged into usb port on the pc, my guess now is the battery is so flat that it wont do a thing any more! i almost got it to run via odin on the pc but the battery drained so bad that it wont respond, i have left it plugged in for at least 6 hours with then just the same response just on and off on and off.
can i take the battery out and charge it via a separate charger to get some life into it to then flash the stock rom via odin?
any ideas would be great! i don't mind taking it apart but don't want to if i'm going to fry the battery i have all sorts of wall chargers, can i join the + and - from the wall charger to the correct wires on the battery for it to charge? i have a multimeter to test the batteries voltage. any suggestions?
[UPDATE 1 ] flashed overcome stock rom then pc wont connect to odin even in recovery mode, :recovery is stock: :rom is stock: from the overcome website, cant flash any rom via odin as it wotn connect, error message usb device not recognised' how to fix this issue? maybe update.zip via sdcard within stock recovery? which rom and for gt-p1000 united kingdom. i tried to reinstall samsung kies for the correct driver but still the same issue, cannot connect after flashing. i have been following this guide http://p1000.teamovercome.net/?page_id=64 any help with connection would be great or flashing via recovery, almost unbricked but not quite.
my connection problem was due to a faulty usb cable, all is fixed now and i have overcome kratos.installed and running sweet
Hello, I don't think that you have a dead battery. I think your rom has a defect cause your Tab would like to boot. Is it possible to go to recovery or to the download mode? Try to flash something. Does your Tab start this screen flash automaticly by plug on a PC od starts this only if you try to turn it on?
PS: It is possible to remove the battery but it is a little difficult. My suggestion: don't touch the Battery
will not go to download mode or recovery. no response when pushing power power button, all i get is the flashing screen with pc and mobile phone connection.
i left tab connected to the pc for one hour, the tab came on with the pc-phone connection image, i flashed overcome rom via odin with repartition which completed but when it went to reboot it has stayed turned off and wont come on at all even when pressing the power button, no download mode and no recovery, i will wait again for it to come on and try the stock rom, not sure if i've got the correct bootloaders or not.
any ideas?
Have you tried leaving it on the ac outlet? or car charger?
ok slight update. . .
i left it plugged into the pc after it passed the odin flash it then BOOTED i was like WWWAAAAAAHHHHOOOOO bouncing on my chair and feeling very happy indeed the battery is totally dead but is now charging in the wall switched off to get some life back into the battery im so pleased
next steps is to get the overcome rom to flash!

i tried for 6 hours to plug it directly into the wall but nothing worked.
Exact same thing happened to me on the Sprint Tab. Called Samsung and sent the unit in. They sent me a brand new unit the next week.
when plugged into my pc now i get an error message, ' usb device has not been recognised' im thinking its the drivers but not sure where to get them, i have searched.
i have updated the 1st post with more information on this issue.
Your tab was showing a secondary bootloader so if you mess up your primary bootloader with the bootloader patch it'll still be recoverable and as for getting overcome I would recommend upgrading to gingerbread which doesn't have protected bootloaders and flash kratos or Jupiter which are faster than the froyo based overcome rims ;-)

the only issue im having now is the fact that the pc wont recognise the android phone when in download mode.
the only message i get on the screen is 'usb device not recognised' i am then unable to flash a different rom or a stock rom via odin being gingerbread or froyo. thats why im asking if there is an update.zip file that i can flash from the recovery to make the usb mode work as it wont even work with debugging mode on or off and wont show via samsung kies or odin when the tab is booted.
my connection problem was due to a faulty usb cable, all is fixed now and i have overcome kratos.installed and running sweet

[Q] Galaxy S Dead - no download mode, no recovery

A few months ago, I had a few issues with my I9000.
I had Darky's Rom 10.1 at the time, and decided to go back to a generic rom.
Went to Samfirmware and downloaded I9003XXKP9.
It seemed to flash correctly, but on completion, Odin showed "reset", but no "pass".
The phone wouldn't power on at all, no download mode, no recovery.
My PC won't recognise it at all.
It was only later that I realised I'd installed a I9003 rom onto my I9000.
I've tried every button combination, with and with out a PC cable and battery, no reaction. Also tried a JIG I got off eBay. Works on my Galaxy S2 and my brother's Galaxy S, but not this this phone. It will charge if I connect it to a wall charger however.
I brought it to a local phone shop who used a JTAG, but apparently although they were able to get it into download mode, once they reflashed, it still wouldn't power on, no matter which rom they used. They worked on it for about a week.
I'm just trying to figure out if this phone is recoverable. It was only about 2 months old when this happened, and it looks almost new.
Many thanks for any information anyone can give!
Anyone have any ideas?
So in my point of view.
When they used to try the JTAG and the phone would not start up the motherboard / bootloader is corrupt.
No way to change that back.
May you send the phone to samsung and they are able to restore that device.
No other solutions in my point of view.....

it must go on ^^
Buy an usb jig on e-bay or make your own. This is just a 301ohms ressistor on pin 4 and 5. It should give ypu recovery mode.

Possibly bricked Galaxy i9000

Hi, i bought a used Galaxy i9000 from a friend and it had Froyo 2.2 installed on it, i rooted the phone with an app on the phone because i couldn't seem to get any response when i plugged it into the laptop via usb lead. The computer will not detect the phone at all it just does nothing when it's plugged in. It will charge from the usb cable and charger but will not do anything once plugged into the computer. I tried using rom manager to install a rom, the last thing on-screen on the phone was saying that it was flashing the kernel, then it rebooted and since then the phone just displays Galaxy i9000 or it will also display a small circular clock type icon in the middle of the black screen and it is a frozen icon. The phone will go into download mode and i have tried to flash it with odin but when in download mode and plugged into the computer, Odin does not detect it, i have tried at least 6 usb cables all tested on my other i9000 and work fine but with this other phone they do not respond. The only thing i can think of is maybe the usb micro port is broken/faulty, what do you think it could be? Any help would be appreciated because i have been trying for hours for the past two days and cannot seem to figure it out, i'm just hoping the phone isn't beyond being repaired. Thanks
Did you install the latest version of samsung drivers?
if not install them, then try to flash again using odin... do it multiple times until you get it right.
and by the way, going into download mode without your computer recognizing your device is a big big mistake... hope it'll work for you
here you can get the latest drivers:

Have you tried in a different computer with automatic windows update switched on?

can you get into recovery mode, if you can you may be able to use a sd card to flash from. This depends on what recovery is already on there, have a look at this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30415128&postcount=1
It wont go into recovery mode it just boot loops when i try

Just yesterday I had issues with the latest Samsung driver (1.5.16.0 bricked my phone), so i reverted to1.5.9.0. This seemed to rectify flashing my recently acquired GT-I9000T.
It may help you.
P.S. 1.5.16.0 worked OK on my GT-I9100.

[Q] Phone Stuck in boot loop - USB port broken

First of all, i'm new here, so if I make a mistake, no hate please.
So I was trying to install Xbean onto my Galaxy S GT-I9000.
This phone has a broken USB port, and as such, I had to root and flash Clockwordmod Recovery mod onto it without a computer. I managed to get into CWM Recovery and went to flash the Xbean.zip file I had on the internal SD card, and when I did, it lasted maybe 3 seconds, then turned off and back on. It's now hanging at the "Galaxy S GT-I9000" first boot screen. For some reason, the 3 button combo doesn't work for either recovery or download.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this issue?
P.s. I have already taken the battery out and placed it back in multiple times.
same here. I have a galaxy s I9000 with a broken usb port and I can get into download mode but no recovery. because of the usb port can not use odin. searched a lot but I could not find a solution. without odin it seems it is not possible to fix the phone. One repair center guy told me that there is a chip or something on the motherboard that regulates the usb connection. that thing is damaged because of imporperly charging. I have a bricked phone.(though I have still download mode)
both of u. if ur on GB. n u success to boot to recovery before da problem occur, u need to flash cm9 stable first to gain da cwm not direct custom ROM. then first flash will bootloop. juz take out battery, n use 3 combo button to go back to recovery again. its da matter of releasing da combo button. release it RIGHT AFTER u see da first bootsplash n wait. if failed. try again. n if it still fail. it means da kernel doesnt even flashed inside system.so u need to flash back to firmware using odin.
note: first flash will install cwm n kernel only as upgrading partition.
second flash will install da ROM.
try to boot to recovery again.

Usually the way to fix this would be to use the adb shell to force download mode, or using a USB jig to go back to stock. However neither of them would work because you have a broken USB port... :/

Again, best way to do this would be to use download mode and flash in a stock rom. Bu tif the USB port is broken... :/
I think the only thing you guys can do would be to get the USB port repaired somehow. Most methods (although do try @compacity's method, it may work) rely on the USB port and a USB connection.

was struggling with the same problem for 2 weeks until I had to give up and send it in.
In my case though, it was not like the support guy said a broken chip but abrasion of the connector in the middle of the USB Port. Obviously plugged it in too often.
Sent it to W-Support, they replaced the small plate in the middle of the connector and everything is working nicely again. So probably a piece of hope for you that maybe some support can still revive your phone. Unfortunately afaik there is no way to recover it w/o reflashing. Was within warranty so no clue what the price would be.
Some people are reporting that removing the battery for like one night made the bootloop disappear.. desperate times etc. wo why not give it a shot

As I said before donwload mode is ok but conection can not be done due to broken usb port (even after fixing the usb port two times). So I guess there is something wrong with the main board. Anyway thanks to all...May be if there is a way to boot from an external sd (like installing ubuntu from usb stick) if not I have dead phone....
