Hi guys!
Thanks for all the time and work put into these ROMS.
I love the Zero Hero rom and would love to use it as my daily but for me it runs at a very slow speed. Seeing alot of lag on phone calls.
Is there anything I can do to speed up this fantastic ROM?
Close a lot of the running apps. Don't use a lot of widgets either. Sense is a huge memory hog and doesn't multitask well with the hero.

Mine is slow from the fresh install....no addons, no apps, etc. Is the kernel overclocked? Or how can I overclock the cpu with this ROM?

The kernel that in used in this rom can be overclocked, but you'll need SetCPU (available from the market) to set the frequences. I'm sure there are other methods, but this is how I control the cpu.
good cpu setting is 710\352 on demand. works well with Zero
Also try set sampling rate to 200000. Yes two hundred thousand. And the up threshold to 50%

Is this app worth using if you are running cyanogen. Those that do, do you like it?
Of course, cyan uses @528Max for his rom which is too much, @384max is better and if you ever used Super-D/Dwang he uses the @384 for max.I like custom profiles too though.

why is 528 too much?
i like setCPU because it has profiles, e.g. scaling down the CPU in sleep mode, or when low battery.
What are ideal setting by everyones opinion?

It is too much, the phone is fast enough with 384 which can be proven when used even on King espresso or manup's eclair so no need to waste batt life.Well atleast for me since im rarely at a outlet.
So about a week ago i flashed the super eclair beta 3.0 on my MT3G.
it was working fine till one day i noticed my battery started over heating and the rom got really choppy.
than my battery died.
so i got a new battery
but tht wasnt the problem because i flashed a new rom and the same problem keeps happening
is there any solution?
and another is this in the rite place to post this?
sorry im new at this
firstly, wrong section
secondly....are you overclocking your phone? running huge amounts of programs? using wifi-tether or some other high-data throughput applications?
if you answered yes to any of these - stop
Moved as not Android Development.
I am almost certain as to what this could be. My guess is that the ROM you are using has the 10MB RAM hack, and you are using an app of some kind using 3D rendering. This will cause almost the same issues.

that's not going to really do anything, man. my phone is constantly overclocked, and running a lot of applications. it stays on the charger more than it does off.

i knew that made the battery die, didn't know it caused overheating? none-the-less i very much doubt it's overclocking or running applications. yes, it probably could cause it to overheat, but not so quickly and as intensely.

Well its not really the battery
its more like the bottom of the phone near the track ball

And that would be the location of the CPU.
Nothing to do with the battery.
Take the suggestions noted. Do not overclock. Do not wifi-tether.
The stock peak CPU speed is 384 MHz. Seems that most roms like to clock it over 500 MHz. There's a REASON why the stock speed is 384!! The faster it spins, the more power runs through it and the more HEAT it produces. If you want to run the thing that fast, you need MORE COOLING.
I am getting annoyed with the speed of my Sprint Hero. the lag on the dialer is really annoying me, I hit dial and wait 5-10 seconds before the phone actually dials then it does the stupid vibrate after the call is ringing already.
Sometimes I think i did not hit the call button so i hit it again, and nothing happens for a while then suddenly I get 2 calls going at the same time to the same person.
I am rooted and running a 2.1ROM but I forgot which one, but it doesnt have any special features besides the super user app and htc sense.
Im willing to settle for something with out sense as long as it speeds up the phone.
I am even considering if its possible to unroot and to whatever 2.1 version sprint has out now and hope it fixes things.
Please let me know which ROM I should try, I dont care about sense, live wallpapers, special animations, just make the phone quicker.
cyanogen 2.2 mod is the best...overclock it to 768
Well, I assure you that using stock 2.1 will *not* fix your problems, especially lag issues. Better to stick to modded ROMs, to be honest.
After trying a few ROMs, I came to love ZenEXP. And with the 0.9.7 release that just came out, it seems like things have gotten even faster. You're rooted, so... do a nand backup, and give it a shot. Try Cyanogen too, as the last person said.

Please note that not every Hero will tolerate 768 on the processor. Really, seems only a select few can run it without stability issues. Mine will freeze instantly if set any higher than 710. This is why the new CM6 is clocked at 691, so everyone can boot it, and so it is rock solid. If you can get 768, then you are one of the lucky ones!

How do you get it to 768? I'm using setCPU and it peaks at 528
My max is 678.. but I put it at 652. Should I just max it out at 678?
Never mind its 691.. I maxed it.. I wont have a problem with battery overheating right?

The app that you use to manage your OC speed doesn't determine how fast your processor will actually run, it's all based on the kernel embedded (or flashed) onto your phone. If you're running stock 2.1 then SetCPU will only show your max speed as 528mhz because that's how fast the stock kernel is. Other ROMs like DarchDroid and CM6 have kernels that boost the max speed to over 700mhz. If you install one of those then you'll see massive speed improvements to your phone and with SetCPU you can either leave the kernel to allow for maximum speed or you can throttle it down if your phone becomes unstable and can't handle it.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I'm running the stock 2.1 atm because I haven't found a rom that combines both live wallpapers and multitouch yet. I play games on my phone often, probably too often, and I have to be able to use two fingers. The live wallpaper thing is just because I think it looks really cool, especially that mario one.
benchmarking
what are good scores
I'm getting 5.4 Linpack, 464 quadrant! Oc'ed to 768.0MHz

If you're looking for pure speed I recommend pancake 0.1,very fast 1.6 rom, if you're looking for something sorta fast and up to date, use cm6

CM6 is the best... fast and packed with features, and it's froyo! Use CM6 with the uncapped kernel
Can anyone show me where to find this CM6? Newbie...sorry

Which Cm6 is better? Are there any differences?
All of the cm6's are fast, just have to figure the right configuration for your own phone!

I increased the vm heap on cm6 to 32m and it eliminated any and all lag for me. It runs like a scalded dog.

Hello,
I'd like to overclock my Incredible S, but I've never done this before so maybe someone here can help me?
I'm using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424260
And they recommend this for overclocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207546
Just to know, what are good values to overclock to? And does it drain the battery a lot faster or not?
They implemented overclocking settings in there ROM. So you dont need that app. Just go into settings - performance and play
I wouldent recommend clocking over 1.5Ghz. And to be honest I cant see any reason to go over that.
I have my clock speed at 1.4 and can play, surf and watch youtube clips etc. and still have about 40% after about 15h. Normal use I could probably keep the battery for 20-24 h.

I have the same Rom V-Q tried to overclock to 13000
choosed ondemand profile,But it didnt changed the clock freq, but backlights button went off. guess it will be fixed on the future.

The profiles won't change the frequency it just changes the way your cpureacts to different situations such as screen off and high performance demand. The search Google "Android governor profiles explained"

yeah, that true... ROM VQ no need use other application for OC... just use build in OC... just go to Setting>>Performance..
So I got the HTC Vivid first, saw the LG Titan had some better specs, bought it, then realized that was stupid of me because it sucks, so now I'm taking it back to get the Vivid
But how is the? anyone have any problems with it yet? Is the already nonexistent ba overclocking ttery life significantly shortened?
Just like with other mobile devices, the battery life depends on what method you use to manage hardware resources (whether it's a task manager; battery/energy profile; under/over-clocking; etc...) and also what kinds of applications you're using on a regular basis (if you're constantly playing games and other hardware-intensive applications, then there's no getting around a short battery cycle).
I don't do a lot of gaming on my phone, and I can stretch the battery life for days with underclocking and careful task management.
Overclocking to 1.5 Ghz is fine on my phone, but you're taking on the risk and responsibility when you overclock anything. I've heard there can be temperature issues in certain overclocking setups (which makes sense), so be prepared for that if you try it.
Cough.. there is no "overclocking" to 1.5.. the vivid comes underclocked, so at 1.5 the hardware is running at the clock speed that it was intended to run.

i don't play alot of games but web browsing is huge, (still a battery hog)
but what do you use for task management? like easy task killer, etc?

hence why I said "Native 1.5" in the title but yes i guess """"technically"""" it isn't overclocking then. but at the same time it is, because it's clocking the processor over what it's set at

Personally, I use SystemPanel App/Task Manager.
I haven't used the other task management apps quite as extensively, but a lot of them seem pretty well-implemented.
