Do you really need 1080p screen, quad core CPU on a such small mobile device? Do you REALLY need that much processing power? Most apps are optimized to work only on single core CPUs. Dual core CPUs are good, I agree, but quads are just pointless waste of resources. They have to improve dual core technology to provide better battery savings, not make battery issues even worse by adding 2 additional cores. Also this huge resolution of a such small screen. Who needs it? You won't see any difference in the resolutions above 800x480 (WVGA), this huge pixel density is pointless.

Most important can it make you a sandwich lol

I was spewin when Nokia chose WP7 over Android. I love Nokia handsets so if they ran Android I'd be a happy little vegemite

Not sure how that will work based on the screens/mock ups. The fleshy bit of your thumb is going to cause the screen to register the touch. It happens on my Nexus one. Hopefully they put a lip or something on the edge surrounding the screen.

It's hard to imagine a 1080p screen for a phone since the texts on a 15.6 inches laptop are already small, how much more on a 4-5 inches phone?

Galaxy note or HTC one x

Which would you reconend from the 2 devices in the title and why? Thanks for any input

You do realize you're only going to get biased answers here, right?
I went for the Note because it has a bigger screen, a stylus, a replaceable battery and an sdcard slot.
Likewise...mainly for the screen size... I mean I have friends who all have 4.6 in down and it looks absolutely normal from spectator's, I on the other hand love the attention - yrs spec wise HTC one x does outweigh the phablet - you can compare this to apple laptops vs Sony, HP... the Macs have the lower specs overall yet people buy it for its unique looks and simplicity...(probably why the upcoming windows 8 look so much simpler than W7)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
It pretty much come down to this
GNote: Battery life and huge beautiful screen
One X: Quad-core
I don't think quad is needed as of now, so I would pick the GNote
Another "me-too" phone with higher-end specs (One X) vs. a genuinely unique, niche device (phablet with Wacom digitizer; N7000).
Seems like two different markets.
the main improvements over the note come from the one x's quad core CPU. if you compare them both in GPU benchmarks at the same ressy, they both perform quite similarly. when nvidia announced that the tegra3 would be 3x faster... they were comparing it to the tegra2.
so the main improvement will be in web browsing (android browser supports quads), smoother interface, and improvements in apps that support multicores (very few do aside from benches).
the only thing that peeves me about the one x is that it doesnt have a microsd slot, but im sure i can work around that with a usb on the go adapter since the htc one x supposedly has an mhl port.
at the moment, im just waiting for the other quad core phones to launch to see if there are any gems. the LG 4X interests me with its expandable storage (support for 64gb microSD), but it doesnt support the 850mhz band on 3G which would be bad for me since vodafone AU has a better 850mhz network than it does with its 900mhz network. theres also the galaxy s3 (same mali gpu but with quad core, so should perform on par with tegra3) and theres a fujitsu tegra 3 phone that has a 13.1mp camera and expandable storage coming soon as well, which should be quiet interesting.
i generally buy my phones outright... so when theres competition, theres a price drop, and thats a win for everyone!
Im gona put my Note in the drawer until ICS and probably get an One X just because i wanna surf the web from its stock web browser flawlessly in contrast to Note's choppy stock browser that loses its hardware acceleration all the time which is a big let down for me.

True! Although i'd get smooth browsing by flashing one of the custom ics roms available in the dev section, i wont have a complete and stable rom with all the features that samsung is going to include in the final ics rom! So i'll be patient rather than flash ics just to see 4.0.3 under Android Version..

Galaxy Note
I was able to play with a demo unit of the HTC One X and I have to be frank after having used the Galaxy Note since November the screen size and quality has just become so familiar that holding anything smaller just feels odd. I might be biased to the Galaxy Note for now as there doesn't seem to be any apps that utilize all four cores and any gaming I might do would be on a PS Vita or Nintendo DS.

If you want it as a media player, the WIFI Galaxies are fine but they are NOT in anyway comparable to the Note.
A quick rundown on the main things I think make the difference; 5.0 inch Galaxy WIFI vs Note.
1GHz single core - 1.4GHz dual core
Original SGS unit? - SGS2 Mali400
512mb RAM - 1GB
800x480 screen - 1280x800 screen
So if you are planning to also use apps and browse the web, the Note is by far and a way a better device. Of course it costs more but you get what you pay for many times over IMO.
As a PMP? The Note is better than any Cowon I have seen so far. Gorgeous 5.3 inch screen (biggest Cowon was 4+ inches IIRC), high resolution screen and it doesn't look like the bricks Cowon puts out in this display range.

Better than a Cowon as a pmp....repeat a pmp? You are massively misinformed and probably have never used a Cowon product. The Z2 blows any other pmp away and all while not suffering from nasty black clipping

It's all subjective but the main reason I prefer the Note over the Cowons is the bigger, higher resolution screen which makes watching videos a more pleasant experience. I'm not sure what black clipping is, but I've had no problems watching videos on my Note.
Please give your reasons for claiming that Cowon is better rather than just throwing slander about. I've already given the parameters by which I judge these devices so lets have both sides of the argument.

Would you buy a 6-inch Galaxy Note?

I was just reading about the upcoming Sony Yuga which will (supposedly) have a 6-inch screen. That got me thinking, would you consider buying a 6-inch Note?

Yeah, if the footprint stayed the same, and that Note had only the screen size increased, why not?
Screen Sizes v. Penis Sizes
Ok, in this world, Penises come in three sizes and girls will say the following:
You call that a penis?
Nice Penis.
You ain't putting that thing in me.
Cell Phones have three sizes along the same lines. Saying 6 inches is too big is akin to Apple saying that their ipad mini has 47% more usable screen size in the .8" of space or whatever it is. Me, I am used to be told the last option. Yes, I would buy a 6 inch phone.
6" at 1080p would be perfect for me. Obviously depending on hardware specs.

There's new tech due to be released next year which doubles battery life of current batteries. It's simply an updated current modulator which at present is very inefficient, should be interesting.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
for me note I screen size is the perfect size for the phablet category:
- it's clearly bigger than the phones category to offer a differentiated experience and more functionality
- aspect ratio is better than the narrower 16/9 for note II
- 5,3 is already on the limit of being pocketable however i havent tested how note II feel in the pocket
for me the AR is the key advantage of the noteI screen, so for next note i'd prefer to have this same size with smaller/thinner body
I find 5.3" is still abit too small, 6" would be perfect.

[Q] Nexus 4 vs galaxy s3

Is nexus 4 close to or better than the galaxy s3. if so what is the reason i know it has wirless charging but other than that what else can it do better?
Galaxy s3 also has wireless charging. Both are good phones. The nexus 4 has a better processor, father updates, etc. The gs3 on the other hand has 4glte, an arguably better camera, and if you're a contract guy you have to get it.
Can't go wrong with either.
Also there is already forums for this I'm pretty sure...
My Nexus 10 is better than your tablet. Hah.
Hi,
I had the S III for about 6 months and I have the Nexus since 1 week (before I had a Samsung Galaxy Nexus).
In short Nexus... it's Google: updates, no bloat (no crappy overlay like Touchwiz) pure Android, it's a Qualcomm / Adreno hardware (but Samusng RAM LOL), like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (TI-> Texas Instrument), more source etc, take a look in the GS III forum about Exynos source's... you'll be disapointed.
It mainly depends of your needs, pure Android experience, with a lot of new ROM with diferent features, kernel, sources ("stock Android", AOSP, CM, a mix, etc...) go the Nexus Line...:good:
If you want multiwindow, pop-up play, smart-stay buit-in and a Samsung device with, in fact good hardware, go for Samsung. But you'll stay ... "sur ta faim" (sorry )...
If you want all the "after market" features, I mean devs , go the Nexus! I owned a Galaxy Nexus then a S III... Back to the Nexus :silly::fingers-crossed::laugh::laugh:
And yes there are thread here and in the S III forum about comparison... After that bigger screen for the S III (not that much) but in hight light like sun it's not terrible, diferent design, 4g / LTE (it depends of your country), extanted storage, etc... and wirless charging for both like b4silver said.
Hard choice... give the Nexus 4 a try not the S III for now...
There's already a thread for this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021559
I just traded my galaxy s3 for a Nexus 4. The camera on the s3 ALOT better. The nexus 4 camera isn't bad though. On custom Roms the s3 battery sucked. Nexus 4 wins in this department. I hatred touch wiz on the s3. This was the main reason I switched to the nexus 4. I can also see a big difference in the snappiness of android on 4 cores on the nexus compared to the two on the s3.

I love my nexus 4. I had the s3 and I like the build quality of the s3 better. The nexus 4 looks good but the back cover is horrible. Its the noisiest cover of any phone I've ever used, well I had the lg optimus g and it was the same way. Its so load I actually woke my wife from her slumber while handling the phone. I've managed to take some of the creakiness out by ree removing the back cover and putting tape in the spots that are mushy. Other than the back cover being terrible, I like the nexus 4 better. Hopefully when my bumper comes I won't notice the creaking anymore.
Some of you will think I'm abusing my phone but I'm not. Before I put the tape on the inside edges, just grabbing the phone to pull it out of my pocket I could hear it creaking, it was driving me crazy.

Nexus4 Pros:
Stock Android, more consistent.
VERY affordable, great price performance

Smaller than S3 but decent size display still
Better display.
Nexus4 Cons:

Fragile, so don't drop

You should never compare camera's picture quality based off the resolution specs... I mean we had 8mp cameras on many phones and even digital cameras before but they're all different... You can't just say they both have 1080p so it's equal. It's like saying a coby tv is as nice as my Samsung tv.
Anyways, I have both phones, simply, nexus is the faster smoother phone. Whereas the s3 is fast also but.. there is always that stutter here and there.
I too was kept away from the nexus because no sd slot but, after using the nexus for a week it's definitely the better phone. Btw a custom Rom on the nexus 4 is equivalent or better than the s3. Many early comparisons around the forums or on those review sites may differ... but that's probably based off stock. Custom rom on the nexus 4 blows any other phones away. Yes our camera loses to the s3, ip5, one x/+, I wouldn't even be surprised if we lose to the razr hd maxx. But it's still a good camera...think in between s2 and s3

Just to put my two pence into this; in my experience, I've found that the Nexus 4 is more responsive to the touch/smoother. That being said, I can't deny the speed of the International GS3. Despite the Nexus having superior hardware, I consistently find that the S3 loads most things quicker. Especially when it comes to browsing, both running the same browser, S3 wins EVERY TIME, without fail - when I test, anyway. It doesnt make sense to me either, the Nexus 4 should theoretically far outmatch the S3 in speed, but it doesn't.

Noone will put a 4k display to 5" phone, thats plain stupid so this one you may drop.
Snapdragon 800 will be more likely used in tablets, so i also dont expect it to be in next Nexus device , it will most probably will be SD600 like in other top models this year.
Ill bet for 1080P , 5" screen (which is also useless in phone, but everyone got it so Google will also). 2GB of ram (who needs more in a phone?)
No sdcard slot, no removable battery - standard in google phones.
the most major change will be the OS, KLP will most probably be pushed to phones after I/O.

4k refers to video its called ultra hd.wow . also....it seems(could of course be wrong) like you dissing or dissmising nexuses?! First are you forgeting price??!! Way below norm.people are and will eventually flock once out of a contract fir a 249$ phone. Second nexus strives now(not the gnex albeit a good phone) to be the top o line device. My lgog which is the n4 brother destroyed the Samsung Galaxy s3 in the way many ways including speed. The lgog is the top scorer stock on quadrant. Yes i know its not everyday use im just making a point. I have contacts at lg(a cousin who is a dev) and all these specs are being seriously considered.(blueprint will be at fed communication soon) and the almost for sure one is the snapdragon 800. So your guess is flawed. Sorry
God I hope the next Nexus isn't amoled. After a year of using the galaxy nexus I was tired of the griany screen and riduclous inaccurate colors. Please use the screen technology from the HTC One!

Agreed, I hate oled screens especially with screen burn in on soft keys ugh
Sent from my Nexus 4
everything sounds great, except the 16mp camera. come on, who the hell needs more megapixels?? we need quality not quantity... time to follow htc's path with the ultrapixel technology. and one other wish: good battery!! it's the biggest problem of smartphones nowadays, especially nexus phones. i have nothing else to wish for. i don't need bigger screen or resolution, better CPU, nor more ram.

..>Wondering why some lame rumour about a unrelated phone is in the Nexus 4 section....
Thread serves no purpose.
