Dear Friends,
few days back my volume button not working at all..
i can decrease the volume but high button is not working at all. i searched for the app so that i can use the app to increase and control my HD7 properly....I have been using the phone in silent mode only for the past few days...the OS is DeepShining OS..please suggest.....thank u
Use button savior from the market. It requires root for most functions but fortunately for you volume keys work without root and on the free edition...
I am using deepshining OS ..OS is ultimate...but its just the harware button on the right hand side does not work..but lower volume works properly..I kept on pressing low button after that no volume..now the volume at 0 level
I think it's the ROM problem, try using other ROM.
no its not ROM problem
actually water fell on the mobile and sinked inside that voulme butto n
since then this is the problem,, suggest an app

Feel free to add this to the FAQ, I'm only making a thread of this because I know alot of people have found themselves unable to enter the bootloader using the Down Vol + Power Button combo that is normally supposed to work.
For some odd reason, it seems as if the volume button in some cases is swapped in hardware functions as it relates to the use of the phone when no software is present to run it.
Hence, if your down volume button doesn't work, try using the camera button + power button to enter bootloader mode instead.
Even if you've just Task 29'ed your device only to find that you can't enter bootloader mode normally, that method should work.

I'll be darned, it does work! Thanks Poet' !!!
Otherwise, I had bad volume button issues (stopped working, ROM independent), that I solved by shoving the mini-usb power plug into the mini-usb slot really really hard for 20 seconds or so and wiggling it a bit while pressing against on the volume key on the other side.
I know it sounds strange, but it really worked. My keyboard issues also stopped after that. Theories?
WOW! My volume button is broken, and couldn't flash ROMs from microSD (didnt bother me tooo much), but it works again This is a god send! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, but its physically phucked! Slight crack near the volume button, but only the volume button doesent work, sometimes it does work if pressure is applied to the case near the crack, but rarely Not too bad though, i can live with it, after all, we can change volume with the 6.5.X top bar as its not fidly, or even in 6.5 by disabling HTC notifications (which i hate anyway)
I did try ramming the mini usb power plug into it, different pressure while pushing it, moving it while it was inside etc, no such luck and i am a brute with this phone. I love how it can take a drop/punch/scratch. Built solid
a silly volume button doesent really decrease my fuctionality, or doesent do much to stop me changing volume! lol cant complain.

Glad to hear it!
It seems like I have to redo the fix technique about every 1-2 days, but it seems to always solve the problem. Very odd!
so damn cool

Dudes with volume key unresponsive problems:
See my post in the general forum about how to solve the volume key problem. At least for me, turns out that very slight *downward* pressure on the USB port solved the problem. Crazy, I know.
ask 4 a favor
Hi guys,
is there any possible i ask (maybe) the same problem?
maybe i had the same problem here. it wont enter to the bootloader. my phone just won't turn on, i already try to use the power button and volume button (not working), try to use power button + Cam button (won't work either). btw when i charge my X1, the illuminations light didn't show up, when i try to charge w/o the battery only red light on the power button, but once i put the battery again the lights turn off. is there any possible that my phone totally dead? thanks guys, appreciate for your help.

Hi all,
I have one small request for developers here. I have HD2 too and prefer Android on this device but one think is extremely annoying for me - PowerUp using End call button. very often I have situation when my phone power UP in my pocket and unlocked and runs some apps. So I have idea use Volume Up or Down or both to wake Up device but all buttons under screen should be dissabled in sleep mode. In normal mode when device is on end call button can be used to turn off device or put it to sleep mode - just want to wake up it using Volume button. I think it is not so hard and can be compiled in roms as option. What do you thing about it?
Regards,
Marcin.
I think you should wear trousers that aren't so tight.
I think this is a great idea!
+1
Say no to tight trousers. They mess with your phone!

Then it is not put in your pocket...
What is the point having a Cellphone powered down in your pocket!
does "button remapper" do this ?

I'd love that, often happens to me and I'm wearing pants that don't strangulate my testicles.
Are you guys using a sense rom? I've noticed the sense slide down lock screen is very easily unlocked. With the stock android lockscreen I don't have this problem.

Yes I'm using sense ROM, but other thing is that display is on when you don't need this...
+1 it looks like good idea. I Hope remapping possible.
If your device unlock itself and run some apps, use unlock pattern or password for extra protection.

CyanogenMod unlock gestures solve this, but be happy the only thing on the front is the power button, I used to have a Tmobile Dash, and it called 911 while I was squating down into my brothers little clown car once o.o
not a GREAT idea...
hi this is a good idea, but i use button remapper and works perfectly !!
wake up on volume up all another buttons disabled for wake up !!
click here for more info :
Button Remapper
Buttonremapper works only for the front buttons on my hd2. I can set power button for wake, other buttons only make the key backlight light up.
But volume buttons don't do anything. Too bad, because that would be very useful.
everybody know that our phone have a weak power hard button. And after long time used. Lots of device's power button become too difficult to pressed. So could anyone can make a mod for our phone to turn screen on by volumes key to safe our power hard button to live longer? Nice thanks!

Also in MIUI... just like that, may be because using the same code.
i dont think its possible to even remap keys i have tried and failed...
what happens is that when our phone goes in sleep mode... the softkeys get disabled.

The volumes key still are hard key. As we used it in cwm recovery I think it could be done by mod.

This same thing happened to mine. Sadly, a handful of roms later I am positive its the button itself. It works sometimes but not all the time. Having the option to set unlock to the volume rockers has been a lifesaver in CM.
Let us know what you find out.
using volume up is a temp fix, i did it also, had no other way, and using the tap tap app also works, what bothers me is, when phone shuts it self down, wich it does a lot all my android phones from stock have done that, the sporadically shut down thingie...how will i turn it on having no power button ?
Hi,
I have a Sony Xperia Z, the power button seems not working properly. May be i dropped the phone and broke some wire connection inside.
So when i press the power button, the button is not working everytime.
Is there way to wake up the phone (when the screen is black) by using the volume button?

No there is no other way, send it for a repair.
use the Q&A forum next time.
maybe installing a custom rom would let you unlock device with volume buttons.

^I'm pretty sure that's possible. Just head over to the Play Store and install "Anyunlock".
Although that's just a temporary workaround, so I'd suggest that you get it fixed soon!
