I was aiming for the Sensation but the price is out of range for me so I figured I'd have to settle for the solution right below it (Nope, not the Desire HD)
Incredible S - A phone with all my needs, a perfect screen size, great camera, great-looking (I'm probably the only one who thinks so lol) .. Even if the bootloader's currently locked i'm not the type who won't use a device unless root, we got WidgetLocker, Go Launcher and other stuff not to mention the original Sense UI is awesome
But one thing i'm concerned about -- the sound quality, I read that GSMArena review and they said it was bad .. I'll basically use the phone I buy as my music player so that matters to me a lot, and earphones sound is more important than speaker sound for me
What's your experiences with the sound quality ? If it's great, i'll head out and buy this phone since it's perfect besides that, if it isn't i'll buy the Desire S which means i'll have to settle for an average camera .. I need positive clarification before I get the S.
I use PowerAmp as my musicplayer, and with the build in equalizer and SRS Enhancement and a good pair of earplugs, i think the sound is just fine.

Thanks, what do you think of the speaker sound, then ?
a good pair of earphones will get u going in no time, as for the loudspeaker, they're quite soft and there'll be static noise n distortion if turned to the max. it's htc, it's normal x
IMO ...use custom earphones and a good sound manager like poweramp...the sound is quite good for a phone.
But yeah the speakers are just average! dont expect too much from them.
but overall u wont regret buying this phone
Ok, thanks guys ! I have my eyes set on it now.
I had an iphone before my IS, and the sound on the IS is a lot better than iphone using Poweramp
The quality of the phone/sound is nice, will try with my stereo nokia bt hedest at home, and chk beck to tell.
Also htc makes awfull earphones, its literally hurt my ears, so one need to change that!
can you explain me the advantages of beats audio?
imho SRS sounds much better than beats audio. much deeper bass and high tones are clear.
maybe it only give better sound an beats headphones?
Good question, I'd like to know too...
OK just found this:

This review is a pretty good analysis of what Beats actually does on a HTC phone (only one I've seen on the internet apart from speculation about the magical Beats)
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/13/htc-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio-review/
Basically, if you dont use it with Beats headphones you get a crap experience unless you're into Top 40 Sine Waves Under 400Hz.
Thanks I will check that out.

Same here. I like SRS better than others effects. I'm using Westone UM2.
I use srs, beats sounds a bit tinny to me
If You are using HTC Innovation headphones, then SRS wil be the best one fitting you.
If you are using HTC headphones, you gave rocks in your head.
Sorry, but they are really bad IMO.
Take it from a sound engineer: beats audio is nothing but marketing. The actual sound quality you get is no better than a standard consumer product. In fact, it may well be worse, since they crank up the bass response for no real reason.
In certain cases, the sound hardware must put into considerations as well. Such as headphones accessories.

thanks for your professional meaning. how do you rate the other settings like SRS, dolby mobile etc?
Beats practically made no difference on my phone. What does is, DSP manager. But you need your phone to be rooted for that. And trust me, You need to hear it to believe it!
Makes your sound, specially beats, better than any ipod ever made.
I think so. SRS is wider and louder than Beat.
Or maybe I need Beat earphone to run with it
I thought all these sound enhancement things were in the kernel
and that sense roms are based off HTC kernels with SRS
so therefore AOSP roms dont have SRS
Therefore none have beats or dolby
Please correct me if im wrong
All this has come from surfing around other forums, with kernels that say they have beats integration and rezound sound drivers etc.
Personally I don't like srs, beats audio seems to me that doesnt' change anything...
I think that beats driver does something only in phones that have a native hardware support...
BTW, I'm using ue-600..
there is a way to install the Beats Audio, which I RockoDev for all roms in Incredible Gingerbread S, and probe some zip but remain on bootloop to initiate or otherwise do not allow me to use the native player I get FC

Hi, I have tried to input the values through the service menu but the audio option in my menu is not active, I am interested in a flashable zip which will increase my headset and earpiece and overall loudness of my beloved n7000.I am asking this because I had found a simmilar flashable zip for my samsung galaxy S3 in this forum so I am hopining someone has something simmilar here. Any help in appriciated
i use this with mine..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728391..work great with my Note and HOX..using Slimbean rom. i try that S3, didn't work for me.

Volume+ does work but..............
If you use poweramp (I do) you must disable a particular setting for Volume+ to work, and in result makes the overall sound quality awful, Very tinny and distorted bass that wants to shatter your ear drums.
Havent really tested it on loud speaker and I only really listen with my Beats Headphone in.
Also, Awesome beats doesnt work for me (and many others) and constantly FC's.
If you're not a poweramp user, then definitely test the free trial version, Its an awesome player with a great equalizer board ! definately increases sound and quality compared to stock music player and / or google play music !
I jumped the gun and got my Nexus 7 early. Due to my impatience, I'm left with the limited space my N7 has left. I use Skifta/Doubletwist/iMediashare to listen to my fairly large music collection on my PC and Droid 3, but nothing I can find supports Beats Audio like Google Music.
Is there a way, without using my external SD reader and OTG to listen to my music via WiFi/Bluetooth and still keep the great sound of Beats Audio?

Not be one of those guys, but beats audio is just an eq setting chosen by dre and co that boosts bass scoops some mids and brightens up top.
Dre doesnt know what headphones you use or speaker system you use or the acoustics of the room you're in, so he doesn't know if it is an improvement or not.
Keep eq flatish or EQ until YOU like it on your playback system.
The whole thing is bit of a con, as a studio engineer producer myself it annoys the hell out me!
If u like it that what matters but you can do without it, is my point.
Edit . also Dr dre is in his 40's and a lifelong live performer and producer so his ears are knackered, mainly in the sense that he hears things duller than reality for youngsters. I wouldnt want him setting the eq on my playback. Now he can hear when a tune works of course but 16khz, prob not.

Ditto... my kids keep wanting me to get them the beats headphones and I just laugh and hand them my Sennheisers from the studio and tell them to put some real ones on.

I wouldn't spend money on the headphones, I have a set of my own that are just as nice without the price tag. I just like the Awesome Beats EQ. Its pretty simple and it definitely sounds better than the original DSP Manager.
