Is there any app that allow to edit APN list in CM9. Note that we don't want to edit apn-conf.xml file!
Tnks
Can't you just go to the APN settings and change it manually from there?
No. It disabled. I can't edit. Only can add new.

What do you mean it is disabled? If you click on one of the APNs you can open it and then Edit the info, and then menu and save.
when touch in any APN name, the "edit access point" must be open, but in this case there is no reaction, no new screen open so cannot edit

You are doing it wrong then. Just click any access point name and the edit screen should come up. Remember to click on the name instead of the button, and also don't long press.
Hi, i'm having the same problem with the same rom, but on a Blade, nothing happens when you touch the APN name, only thing it allows you to do it's creating a new APN and that new one is not editable...sorry for my english

Ok this is a modified Mms.apk with 5mb send/receive limit and also 2560x1920 picture resolution send/receive. I hated being sent high res pics and only being able to save them at 640x480...
you need to go into the Mms settings and under "Custom User-Agent" select "Custom" then enter any name you want for the custom user agent... You might need to restart the messaging app, but I tested it and was able to save at full 2560x1920 ...
I'm going to post the modded Mms as an update.zip to flash with clockwordmod.
It's only been tested on froyo.
you might need to clear messaging data...
settings>applications>manage applications>All>messaging>clear data
let me know if it works for you...
Sorry for the noobness but how do I get to the mms settings? Im using the VIPER froyo rom.

make sure you are in the all threads screen in the messaging app. then hit the menu soft key and go into settings. you need to scroll down, it's towards the bottom... in fact if you scroll all the way down in the settings menu the "custom user-agent" settings will be in the top of the screen...
Hope this helps...

I second this question as well! Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
no need to run any script, or use any 3rd party tethering apps,
juz use Root Explorer, edit
"build.prop" under "system" folder,
find "ro.mot.entitlement_check=true" and change it into
"ro.mot.entitlement_check=false"
restart machine and tht's done, at&t authentication gone, tested and work
if this has been posted before, please remove, thx!
I guess there's really no reason to even add a custom APN with this, right?
Doesn't work for me. Still attempts to check.

This works but doesn't show the notification. Could cause people to lose battery life with this...
Bump, works for me on 1.8.3 with Gingerblur
Change the ro.entitlement to false and then add ",tether" next to default on the APN type.
Reboot the phone and enable the hotspot.
You won't get a notification in the taskbar, but just disable it when you're done with it.
hi i have changed. ro.entitlement to flase and reeboted, but it says too much battery and when you press yes it just closes. how is supposed to run when you have it right?

Well, if you changed it to "flase", then I'd imagine it not working.
Anyway, there is no "indication" that the hotspot is working, you need to verify that it is working by trying to connect to it via a computer.

1. I would like to know your process of rooting with gingerblur on 1.83
2. I have added false to that line, what do you mean by add tether to what APN?
3. would you have detailed instructions? like step by step vs. this vague info is just hard to follow.
I have had the best luck by simply changing the apn of att tether to "phone" from "broadband" using a SQL editor.
This allows mms and text messing to dynamically chose the correct apn (no manual downloading mms messages) and they icon works.

Those instructions are completely, patently obviously crystalline. You should go google your google os then reread. Seriously, don't ask to be served on a silver platter. Read, understand and ask for specific clarification on a step that confuses you if google and forum search fail you. Rooting is well documented. Get unlazied for that one. Which apn should you consider adding tether to? Probably the one you are using, common sense would dictate. (Further extension of common sense states that you might need to make a new apn that is a copy of your current one with changes for this.)
Mine worked without adding tether to my apn! I don't know that this particular step is necessary. I've downloaded several hundred MB's through my phone on Steam without adding tether to my apn, but YMMV.

For a Nexus 4 (mako) KitKat ROM with LTE already enabled, check out my work here.
All the other guides I've found are confusing and don't seem to work, when actually it's (sort of) easy and straightforward.
You will need:
1) A rooted Nexus 4 running just about any JB 4.2/4.3 OR 4.4+ Kit Kat ROM.
2) Time and patience.
3) ES File Explorer from the Play Market
4) Baseband .33 or earlier (or the hybrid radios from morrislee) (Don't ask what this means here, do a search in the Nexus forums)
(First Edit: Screencaps soon to come!)
First, we're going to need to edit a couple of files in the root (also known as /) file system. Open ES File Explorer and click the blue icon in the upper left to bring up the options menu. Expand Tools, then scroll down to Root Explorer. Select that and Allow ES File Explorer root permissions with superuser.
Another menu pops up, select Mount R/W and change BOTH from "ro" to "rw". Save that and get back to the file system menu in ES File Explorer. Navigate your way to /system and scroll down to select the file "build.prop" Open that with ES Note Editor and select the options menu in the upper right, and click "Edit".
Scroll approximately 3/4 of the way down through the build.prop file and locate this line of code:
Code:
lteOnCdmaDevice=0
Change that to this:
Code:
lteOnGsmDevice=1
Press the back arrow in the upper left corner of ES Note Editor and it will prompt you automatically to save the file. Click yes.
THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR T-MOBILE USERS ON 4.2 ROMS. NOT NEEDED FOR 4.3 or 4.4
Cool deal. Except now, because Jellybean changed things around with how Android handles audio, the speaker for voice calls won't work for T-Mobile users (like me). It's OK though, because we can fix that too. Get back to ES File Explorer menu and navigate to /etc/snd_soc_msm/
LONG PRESS on the file in there, snd_soc_msm_2x blahblahblah and click More (the three dots in the lower right hand corner) and select Properties. Remember what the permissions look like! Write it down! Change permissions to rw (check all the boxes in the "read" and "write" column) and save that, going back to the snd_soc_msm folder and press back to deselect it (no check marks next to it).
Single-click on the file to open it, selecting it as a Text file and again opening it in ES Note Editor. You have to scroll down for a WHILE. ES Note Editor only loads the file incrementally (sections at a time). So just keep scrolling. It is line 1804. You are looking for a single line that says:
Code:
ACDBID 81:1
Change that to:
Code:
ACDBID 7:1
Press the upper left back button in ES Note Editor and when it prompts you, save. DO NOT leave the file yet. You should be back to just reading mode. Scroll down some more. We are looking for line 2736. It reads:
Code:
ACDBID 91:2
Make that read:
Code:
ACDBID 6:2
Press back, save, then exit ES Note Editor. You're back into the File Explorer. LONG PRESS on the snd_soc_msm_2xblahblah file and go back to it's properties, reverting the permissions to their original state. Remember I told you to write that down? Good.
END T-MOBILE 4.2 ONLY SECTION
EVERYONE DO THIS NEXT PART
Click the menu button in the upper left corner of ES File Explorer and select Rood Explorer again. Select Mount R/W and return / and /system to Read Only (RO). Save that and back out to your home screen.
Now go to the Phone dialer, as if you were going to make a call. Enter *#*#4636#*#*
A menu will pop up, select Phone Information. Where it says "Set preferred network type", change that to LTE/GSM auto (PRL). Press the Home button to return to your main Android home screen.
The hardest part is done, only a couple more settings. Go to Settings>Wireless and Networks>More...>Mobile networks>Access Point Names and select your carrier, in my instance T-Mobile US, making the following changes (if necessary):
Code:
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Name it something (the first field) and press the small three dots in the lower right corner to Save the APN. Reboot your N4.
When you are back to the homescreen, navigate back to Settings>Wireless and Networks>More...>Mobile networks and this time select Network Mode. It should say "WCDMA Preferred". Change that to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. NOTE: In KitKat ROMs only, this appears to be unnecessary as 4G will already be selected under "Network Mode".
Wait a minute or so, the signal bar should change from "H/H+" to "4G" (or LTE depending on the ROM). Yay!
Reboot to make sure everything sticks.
You should be set to go!
This may work for other carriers, but please do not ask me for correct APN settings. It only enables LTE on Band 4, this is a limitation of the hardware inside of the phone. Certain carriers do not utilize this band, it's up to you to find out.
Feel free to buy me a coconut water (donate) if you like my work. It would be greatly appreciated!
Please Hit the "Thanks" Button If This Guide Helped You!
Thanks. Good guide.

Here's noob question: can you make this into a flashable file, like a "LTE fix" file? So anytime someone changes a rom they can then just flash the "LTE fix" or something like that?
Thanks again.
This also assumes that the user has flashed an older radio baseband to the phone.

At the moment, the answer is unfortunately yes.
I'll make a script if I can in my spare time, as the one's I've seen around (including the one mentioned earlier in this thread) don't work exactly right for me. People on other carriers might be OK, but T-Mobile has certain specific changes or it won't work (no voice during calls, network will fluctuate rapidly between H, H+, and LTE).
I'll update the thread with any new developments and screencaps here shortly, just been very busy and very broke.

Hello all... In my trying of firmwares, XXLQE, XXLQI, UBLPH, UBLPK, I found on my phone at least, the best battery performance came from the VSLPA firmware. That is branded by Moviestar in Argentina.
My thing is more an irritation than a problem. In my wifi settings when it scans, the Moviestar network is listed and shows out of range. I remove the network manually but it comes back randomly. I want to remove it for ever as I do not think I'll be going to Argentina any time soon (not that don't want to go for sure). I hope someone knows where the network is stored so I can edit it out. Thanks in advance....

This is because the browser default page and/or the bookmarks can be made persistent by the vendor configuration in the ROM. Unfortunately without rooting and tampering with the XML file, I am not sure how to fix this aside from using an alternate browser.
