Hello,
I have searched for this information and haven't found it anywhere so please help...
For those using squadzone's CM7 RC5.7, is the Sim toolkit working? I want to install this ROM but i need to be sure that the Sim toolkit is working before romming as i am still using the stock ROM with a functional Sim toolkit and i cant go back after romming.
Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just to make sure what i'm recommending, what exactly do you need the sim toolkit for?
If you believe that it does in fact allow or deny encryption or data safety paths that is a complete and utter lie.
I have yet to find out what it actually does, but it doesn't do that, i'll bet my mini on that.
I always thought the simtoolkit was part of the simcard and therefore independent of ROM?

I need the sim toolkit for network related services. Here in kenya you can send money via mobile phone. Its a form of mobile banking called mpesa. This service is dependent on the sim toolkit and that my friend is why i really need a functional sim toolkit. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on any Cyanogen custom ROM

Indeed the sim toolkit is a sim card application. its not part of the rom. However this simtoolkit interfaces with the rom in order to send and receive commands from the network. so the rom needs to be able to allow for this functionality. CM ROMs dont seem to support this toolkit but squadzone says hes working on it. apparently its not so straightforward to get the toolkit working.

Hi guys... A friend of mine has a Vodafone branded tab... But he wants to use it with a different operator... The question is... If i root the tab, and install a custom rom, will he be albe to use it with any operator he wants, or will he still be linked to' Vodafone?
Chances are it will work.
Backup as much as you can, then give it a try, I have a ATT branded SGT using TMOUS sim, works for me.
Make sure you have all the backups and the files needed before and after the change.
Best of luck.

You can do all those things but you will still be Vodaphone. To use any other carrier you will have to unlock your tab.
To do that you will need to find the thread by Rotohammer about unlocking the at&t or t-mobile or any gsm tab. You will need to have a pc and the android sdk installed, because you need to use the adb.exe application to do the unlock. It's easy to do but it's an intermediate skill level task.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323
Should also be asking questions in Q&A not the dev thread.
should work but backup before you do it. i mean using rom manager or any method backup the whole thing.
Why do people say this would work? Loading different ROMs will not unlock the tab. You'll need to get the tab unlocked. Then you can use different SIM.
Hello to you all
I would like to show all of you 4.3 users the solution "elvisypi" gave me in my private mail and finally i succeed to unlock my device.
So all of us know that sprint or google changed the way HtcOMADM works and we can't use the original system for unlocking our device.
So here is the solution that "elvisypi" gave me :
1. Download the "Stock with goodies 4.3 ROM". Don't flash it wet. (link : http://www.mediafire.com/?9y21d2wlszh6d6c )
2, With an archive viewer like winzip open the ROM.zip and go to /system/app
3. replace 2 apps which I have attached: HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_SPCS.apk and HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk. Just drag and drop and replace.
4. Finally flash the ROM.
5. Install the HTCOneSIMUnlockHelper and follow the onscreen instructions.
This system works 100% and this way you can be on 4.3 rom and still have an unlock GSM sprint device.
again , many thanks to "elvisypi" for his great support
sim unlock
Hope it does

I've followed your directions, using the ROM you provided (only difference being flashing the root-fix) and I get vDM errors every time I boot and the app says it's unlocked but my Tmobile SIM gets no signal. Is there any other way i can check if my phone's unlocked?

Yes I have, it says preparing SIM card but I never get any bars. I read in another thread that I need to be on an older radio in order for Tmobile to work. And for that I'll need s-off which I can't. Sigh.

Flash the release radio and let us know, I'm interested in using an At&t card for when I need a good data connection.

I did exactly what you said an When the phone starts up it says unfortunately ui has stop working an it keeps popping up an i cant do anything with my phone
Thank you for this already pressed the Thank you button also
i was getting annoyed that i couldnt find the files before i found this thread
HTC ONE
I did everthing s-off....flashed to the old radio baseband....tried everything still havent got any signal....who know what a problem?
The only thing is that I've flashed my sprint htc one to the Straight talk. Could it cause a problem?
I am also trying to unlock for T-Mobile. Running into the same issues as others. I was reading a thread where someone was apparently using it on T-Mobile, and PMed them on how exactly they did it but never got a response.
Would love to hear if anyone has it working on T-Mobile
This works. :victory:
Only need to extract, modify and zip again.
Flash with TWRP.
And everything is working normally, no need to reinstall or root, or whatever.
The only problem is that every time I turn on the phone, I get the error message VDM, but it disappears instantly, without stopping or forcing any application.
I live outside the U.S., and continues to operate all perfect with SIMUnlockerHelper. :fingers-crossed:
My device: Sprint Htc one = Unlockboot, TWRP, SIMUnlocker Helper, Root, and the rom on the top of the post. (benny's 4.3 LOL)
it actually works, but if you're using a sense rom I think you only need to download the apps in the op and replacing in system/app
I did this with insertcoin 6.0-4, the unlock helper app didn't recognize the rom, but with the terminal emulator method it worked just fine, tried with a sim and all fine ... then put again the original apks and you don't have to deal with any error popups
Interesting. I was under the impression that our version of this device did not support domestic (only international) GSM bands, hardware wise.
Is this version of sim unlocking different than what you would get if you asked Sprint? (they do allow you to unlock it if you meet certain criteria, like good account standing)

it supports the bands, but all the radios except the original one block domestic gsm carriers. if you still unlock and use that radio, it'll work.
Not working
I tried everything mentioned above, ( Unlock bootloader, S-OFF, Root) also changed the 2 apps in the system for the 4.3 ROM Stock rooted deodexed and then used the SIM unlock helper.
Then Got the same result : No GSM signal, and the SPRINT logo still on the top when I make a call, the same answer comes: " Error number 16 script 3."
I'm using Straight Talk Sim by ATT.
Long time omnirom user here with an issue I cannot find a fix for.
In my country there's a cell operator called RCS-RDS that has always had very good rates and unlimited 3g internet but, up until recently, very bad coverage. I have used 2 sim cards from this operator whenever I was in their coverage area for years now without a problem.
Last month RDS, has signed a national roaming agreement with VODAFONE so that you can use their network for service whenever you're outside RDS's coverage area. To use this national roaming service however, I had to replace the sim cards I had from RDS with new ones which, they say, operate in the UMTS 2100 band. I've checked the I9305's specs, and that band should be supported without a hitch.
Problem is however, that if I try to use either of the 2 sim cards, the phone gives me a no sim card error message and will behave as if there's no sim in the phone.
I'm using the radio recommended by mccamblesmith, the I9305 omni rom developer, in the omni rom development thread, and I have tried flashing every radio I could find, from the newest 4.4 radios to some very old 4.3 ones, but no change, and I've tested the two sim cards on other phones, including an S4, a beat up old Allview, an even older and more beat up Huawei U1220 and a 3G USB dongle, and both sims worked flawlessly on all of those.
I've also tried getting help on omnirom's irc channel, but the place is dead.

i understand the issue here, but dont know how to fix it easiest way without loosing all your data and personal stuff etc.
it seems the issue is not modem related but i think its related with the roms settings you applied but dont know what exactly. all i can say is make a nandroid backup to external sd of current rom and flash back your official stock firmware with odin, root and install recovery and flash omni again, then try the sim cards again. if it does not work you can always restore the nandroid backup from recovery.
i hope this helps

Hello Everyone,
I have scoured the internet but I can't find a direct answer. I am running a 5.1.1 AOSP rom and am traveling to Europe soon. I want to use my phone there and T-Mobile tells me with my plan that I should be able to use it because I am on their simple plan. I was given a instruction manual on how to set it up but the app it says to set it up with tells me that my device is not compatible.
My questions are:
-Am I able to use my phone while I am in Europe?
-Do I still need to sim unlock it?
-Do I need to flash back to a TW ROM to sim unlock it?
-Has anyone had experience with using a custom rom in another country?
Thanks in advance.
Im not sure this is gonna be much help bud but I used it on my note 3. Definitely worth checking out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
My questions are:
-Am I able to use my phone while I am in Europe?
I'm not sure if you're going to be able to text or call from Europe from an AOSP based ROM, I personally haven't tried it but I know there's a setting that allows for roaming. You could use wifi though, obviously. Not Wifi Calling or Wifi texting though (to my knowledge)
-Do I still need to sim unlock it?
I don't think so on an AOSP ROM, however if you try running an Int carrier on your N910T it won't work because of incompatibility.
-Do I need to flash back to a TW ROM to sim unlock it?
I'm not sure if there's a sim unlocker for the device that run int carriers.
-Has anyone had experience with using a custom rom in another country?
Not me
I don't see how rom can affect your service. When I went to Asia I was on a custom tw rom (yes I know it's not aosp) and was able to text, call, and had internet (128kbps or less). Don't remember trying WiFi calling though. But I didn't have to sim unlock.
With your rom are you able to use all your carrier feature? Except WiFi calling of course. If you are then I think you will be fine. If you want to be safe just back up your rom now and go back to a tw rom and set up your phone again. Make a back up of it then go back to aosp. When you get to Europe just switch roms if you have issue with aosp.

I did something really stupid and ended up with a bad flash on my NOTE 9 - the result is that I no onger have an IMEI number on my phone - no data at all - no mobile data.
I know what my IMEI Number is from my GOOGLE account - but I don't know how I can fix my phone to get the IMEI number back into the phone.
Any suggestions are grealy appreciated.
I did a google search which had a few suggested ways using the dialer - but when I attempt to do that, nothing happens - I don't get any result from the dialer codes online.
Your help is greatly appreciated
Find the latest software for your phone and install it with Odin. Or emergency software recovery with Smart Switch.

For the benefit of others (to hopefully not make a similar misstep) what did you do to create this issue? Flash a ROM from another region, carrier, etc.? I understand if you prefer not to share... thanks for the consideration.

There was a rom in the Custom Roms section that looked like it was meant for our phones - I think it was the WETA ROM - I didn't read the oP very carefully - totally my fault - it was not intended for the N960F - (but that was not really that clear when I first read the OP - or at least I lverlooked it. i will be much more careful next time. - it damn near bricked my phone.
I tried flashing full firmware in ODIN to fix it -no good - the flashes failed. - I tried restoring Nandroids - they restored fine but IMEI was still missing.
The fix I found eventually was to flash the DEV BASE Firmware that was recently added to the Roms section - flashing that fixed my issues and I am now back and working properly. I tried more fixes than I can count - and all of them failed - I was close to thinking I might have to buy a new phone. Dr Ketan suggested I flash the Dev Base sortware and he was absolultely correct. It worked.

I was able to get around the PUK code through a master reset. Go figure.
There's a thread in the forums that talks about copying your carrier's CSC to your phone and then making the necessary changes to four files in the /efs/imei folder. It's not hard, but you got to be very careful. Instructions are in the thread mentioned above. I have LTE/HD Voice access during phone calls, but I have not been able to get Wi-Fi calling to work because the IMS service FC's when launching.
I suspect it may have something to do with using a dual-sim phone. I have both my AT&T and T-Mobile SIM in the phone, and I'm loving using one phone for business and personal calls. I also have Google Voice and I can use that for Wifi calling if necessary. As a final note, to get access to AT&T enhanced services on a non AT&T phone, you have to use an IMEI number from an AT&T phone that supports its enhanced services. In my case I've been using the IMEI number from my three-year-old Samsung S6 active. I called support told rep that I was using my S6 active while waiting on a new phone and they associated the IMEI number with my cell number.
