Thanks for your honest answer. I will keep me updated about CM for X2, and then later root when the build get's more stable.
And thank you for the links as well.
Install Superoneclick 1.7 on your PC. Connect your phone to your PC. On your phone goto System > Developer > Enable USB debugging.
On Superoneclick 1.7 click root button. Then near the end it will says 'do you want to test' click yes. Then on your phone you will have the rooted app.
root OK
superoneclick 1.7 worked well for me
rooted P990
I will take a look at Superoneclick 1.7 as well. Thanks all.
superoneclick 1.7 worked for me and my friend every time
I couldn't get z4root to work for me but SuperOneClick worked without any issues
One question from me. If i root, disables a few pre-installed apps and i.e. rename/change icons for other apps, what will happen when LG release a new update?
Can I just update as normal, and root again and do the same changes or do I have do enable all of the apps og unroot again?
I also want to install this; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027291

I did that.. and it doesn't work. Says I'm on the latest firmware. But I'm on 2.2.2 I've been trying to update for over a week now with no success.
Have you changed the baseband?
No. How do I do that?
Come on stop blurring his mind...
If lg update tool doesn't upgrade you're phone, there must be a reason.. And baseband shouldn't be changed as it is one of the things lg tool looks at to search if upgrade is necessary.
But the best way to upgrade is to root your phone, instal clockwork mod recovery, then finally the ROM you want, even Ics 4.0.3 is available...
Just look and read threads in stickies to have info, and a guy recently made a thread in general section I think to explain how to do that.
The best deep way to learn is to search and experiment..
hi everyone. im totally a noob. i know that this is an old question pls bare with me. i read sir N00BY0815 tutorial about rooting optimus black. and other tutorials here in the forum, and i ended up on confusing myself how to root my 2.3.4 V20e. can some one clear my mind here? can i just use mr N00BY0815 tutorial, bcuz i cannot see any "V20E" sightings, or is it going to be another tutorial? thanks!!!
"ROOT FOR Gingerbread (V20x, 2.3.x)" means all gingerbread ROMs, so also yours.
I have testet "see v20O" and it works perfectly.
Regards
Just check the 3rd post of this thread and you ll be able to do it on your own

thanks for your quick reply. i managed to flash my V20e to V20b. but i cannot Wipe all data/factory reset and flash the super user. i put the unzipped file on the root of my SD but when i try to flash it, the file is no where to be found.
I apologize if this question has already been answered but i did search the forum and couldn't find anything...
i've flashed the official LG P970 ICS V30B and thus unrooted my phone. how can i root it again (except using unlock root - i'm looking for a free method)
thank you!

UnlockRoot is free, as I'm still using it whenever I need to flash stock ICS... :S
perhaps it was free? unlockroot[.]org
i did install it and keeps asking me for a serial number...
after some more searching i found a 4shared archive with unlockroot v2.3 that worked and didn't ask for any serial. :good:
although, yet i have a confirmed root access, i can't seem to edit the phone's ringtones (tried to copy a couple of ringtones in its default device folder and keep getting an error)...
I'm currently running Android v4.1.2 JB and I heard that the rooting method works only for older versions of Android.
I also heard that there is another method of rooting and I came across that thread which can be located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 But it's too bad that I'm a total noob and I can't actually understand the thread...
Could someone please explain that method again so I can understand it, or perhaps link me to a new tutorial? Thank you. :good:
It's indeed a very simple procedure. I suggest that you read it again.
