[Q] i9000 colours washed out after new screen - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My screen died and have had to get a new one installed. The thing is, the new screen is fine, but the colours are really bright, even on the lowest brightness setting. I bought it to the attention of the guy in the shop, he took it off auto which was better but now I'm using it, it's actually not right at all.
The brown and greys of the UI should be dark, everything is too bright. The OS is still at the latest version from Samsung, GINGERBREAK.XWJVH which is what I had before.
I've looked all over and cannot find anyone with the same problem. Does anyone know if this is the software problem that I have seen in other threads or a hardware one? It just seems strange that my old screen was darker than this.
Thanks,
Luke.

new screen a genuine samsung product? I think its with the hardware...

It could be that an LCD screen has been put in. We are meant to have an AMOLED screen. Samsung did start shipping SGS with LCD screens when there was a shortage but im not sure how to tell for sure. Remember AMOLED is meant to have near enough pure black. Does your screen have this? If not its very likely LCD.
Also you can try using a colour tuning app. I know there is voodoo colour or voodoo screen. (Not sure if its on the market)

The guy said it's supposed to be. Going to take it in to get it checked.

This is what I thought, I'm going to get him to ring up and find out, if it's not AMOLED, it's getting replaced!

Will check, but it's not rooted.

If I go to the apps menu, the background looks pure black to me.

Have you tried a factory reset?
If you are in the UK or within warranty try take it to Carphone Warehouse, one that has a repair centre. Don't tell them you changed the screen (it may void warranty, unless you took it to a Samsung authorised repair shop) and ask to update to the latest firmware. They usually have it back to you within the day unless they are busy in which case you can collect it the next day. If this doesn't work then its most likely the screen.
Also look for ways to find out what type of screen is installed. Im sure others have faced this issue before. Good luck

Nope, not tried a factory reset, would have to back everything up somehow. Took it to a techcentre.co.uk in wakefield. I did email Samsung and asked about whether a screen was covered by warranty (it's not) a while back tho.
Luke.

I took some photos on my N900 to show you:

They look a bit darker on the N900, but trust me, they're not on the I9000.

TBH they look kinda similar, but i guess we'll have to put it down to camera. Are you sure it looks washed out?? I thought so before but next to yours...it doesn't really look bad, yours looks better in areas.

Yup, see how dark yours is on the greys.
Luke.

Ok, was sitting with the galaxy in my hand, a few times with light pressure in the top left corner of the screen caused the colours to darken to normal.
Then the following day after charging, turned it on, the colours were dark. It has been right for the last 2 days...it has just reverted to uberbright again.
Faulty screen?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA

Yh could be... but because you said you press on a corner I suggest you look up the videos that show the opening up and see where the screen connector is. Its possible they didn't install it properly. Also I think the screen has to be glued to the digitizer. (Not sure). What happen when you contacted them, did they offer to check it? Its worth giving it back to them, you've had problems since day one and it hasn't been 30 days so should still be under the return/faulty product policy

They sent it back to head office where they apparently took it off and reconnected it. I basicaly said to the guy i wsn't happy. He said nothing. I just walked out wss so pissed off.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA

Also, this flip is not constant, so is annoying i cannot get it to change on cue.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA

Hmm im sure they have a complaints department... When you go to them tell them your not happy and that you want it fixed or your money back. You want a new screen put in.
Try get some evidence like the picture your put up. Have the same picture when its washed out and then when you can get it working properly bring that same picture up and take a photo of your phone again.
Also threaten them not physically but with reviews. Say that you are going to go onto every review site and tell them of their crap service. That you are actively part of forum sites like xda etc and will preach their awful service. Which you have already started here.. You can do it on google maps as well. You can remind them that having one bad review usually counts for more in both ratings and perspective then a few good reviews.
Btw i unfortunately broke both the screen and digitizer the other day and by your experience I wont be using them (If insurance pays out, so glad i didn't cancel it, otherwise i think it will have to go to ebay )
Finally you can tell them and take them to trading standards. They have sold you a faulty part and are refusing to solve the problem.

Here is what it looks like:
and the UI
Thanks,
Luke.

That is perfect! In the first video between 37-41 seconds its super clear there is a difference. Im sure that is not mean to happen that would be a proper fault in the phone and would have been corrected by Samsung and there would have been a recall and everything.
Do that in-front of them if you haven't already. Before you do though call and/or email the complaints dept. with a link to that video. And specifically tell them to look at 37-41 seconds on the first video. If they then don't agree to take another look at it or fix it then trading standards! It may be worth saying that in the email.
"I have been to .... and showed them my problem, told them about it multiple times. I am now showing you proof that this is a legitimate problem and am not happy with the service i am receiving. quote some crap from the website where they say they give great service and after sales support." Explain it has been less than 30 days and that you have been seeking support for this issue from the beginning. If you do not receive the support as stated by the website and as required by law you will be contacting trading standards for false advertising and poor service blah blah.... Just make sure you write it clear and to the point. Describe how you fix the problem in bullet points, and obviously say this is usually a temporary fix that lasts approx mins.
Hope that helps.. If you write that letter or contact them over the phone with most of the above and the evidence then they should fix it. Look through their website for what they say if they dont fix it and the guarantees they have for the service they provide. So you can quote them. BTW look through the trading standards website as well, because everything i have said is based on what I have heard and read from forums/articles/conversations. You need facts and evidence. I find shouting and anger doesn't usually work for me personally as i have a calm nature so its hard for me to portray anger lol If you can project your anger well then it does usually work quicker

Well, some success. I wrote them an email on the 4th, no reply, sent them another email demanding a response otherwise I would contact TS and give a bad review on Google Maps, was contacted the next day (I sent the email quite late in the day) by the MD, who basically agreed to give me a refund. I went today and got said refund. He saw the screen and I pointed out the banding. He was quite ok about it all really.
Don't get me wrong, their service is good, just bad that they don't know a good from a bad screen.
Luke.

X1 powers down on slide close

Hi there, long time reader, first time poster. After searching on the forum for an answer I am posting for help. I was wondering if anyone else's X1 powers down when they slide the keyboard back in?
At first I thought it was the custom ROM I was using but after flashing back to the official R3 UK ROM it is still happening so I suppose it could affect anyone. Does this happen to you? If so do you know of a solution?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tristan
I have the same problem but when my keyboard is slided up. When you slide it up, in like 15 seconds it will just turn off. The phone completely shuts off and not just turn off the display. I thought it was a custom rom problem too but i installed a different rom and came up with the same problem. I guess i will send it out to sony and let them fix it, only after softspl and stock rom is installed. But sony does fix it fast! They usually just give you a refurbish xperia instead of fixing your current one.
Ah that's what I mean, when I slide my keyboard in it happens. To be honest it's getting a crack up near the stylus as well (which is odd for one of the black ones I believe) so I definitely need a new one... I'm actually quite disillusioned with the phone altogether after both these problems but I guess Vodafone aren't nice enough to give me a different phone :\
Try closing it slowly(dont make it smash) and see if it still turn-off your unit.
I sometime have the same problem when I closed the slide quickly, so it smash to the another side and my unit went off. I think some power connector, sensor, switch inside must be loose or something.
You are right, I discovered this yesterday that closing it slowly does not power it off BUT today for some random reason the phone has turned itself off whilst doing it slow too. I'm getting quite fed up which is a shame because I quite like the phone.

This is definetely a hardware problem if it recurs accross ROMs. I'd say get a replacement NOW. BTW are you a girl (Tristy sounds like girls name haha)?
Try to insert a small piece of folded paper at the bottom of battery, your x1 may work properly even quick slide. (My x1 has been down the power for quick slide or small impact, but I just fixed it by doing that).

Yeah it's most definitely hardware and I'm afraid not, it's short for Tristan which is much more of a guys name over here.
As for vcivilen, thanks a lot, I'm going to give this a try until Vodafone get their courier here.... whenever that may be.
After getting off the phone (ironically not my x1) with Vodafone they acknowledge that this phone has two recognised problems. 1. This problem 2. sometimes it doesn't pick up business email (not really a concern to myself). Either way they are sending me a "new" x1. I treat the word new with some reserve as they don't stock it in stores anymore. I was assured it would be new but suspect I'll get some refurbished one until this one breaks... and another... haha!

Enjoy your new X1. I am still going to think you're a girl because of the name (it's intuitive when i see tristy).
I'm experiencing this problem as well and I've learned to slide my phone slowly instead of "snapping" it back and forth.
However, when I pass it around my friends, some of them would still snap it hard and cause the phone to reboot. It doesn't happen all the time though.
Going to try vcivilen's trick and see if it works, if not, it is time to send it back to get that and the keyboard fixed...
i had this same issue as well.. and i thought it was the battery.. i did vcivilen's trick b4 as well, but this is in fact of the issue with the bad quality of the casing.. i have mine with cracks issue but i leave it till i got time to bring it to the service centre.. then i got this problem so i put that piece of paper like vcivilen did and it works.. after a few months, my touch screen wont work when its on landscape, wont respond to any touch.. now it wont even rotate the screen. when i open the battery cover, look under the battery and noticed the crack got bigger.. so if u have this issue i suggest you get it fixed b4 its too late.. its still covered by SE since its related to crack issue, but i lost interest in using xperia now, will fix it and sell it ASAP.. omnia touch pro would be my next device..

Slider Problem degenerates into a slow death
I had the same slider problem. After about a week or so of it, it wouldn't turn on. I had to continuously take out the battery, wait 30 seconds then re-insert it. Eventually, applications stopped working, messaging disappeared, etc.
I tried re-installing the OS via Update 4-5 times over the course of about 2 weeks. It would work for a few days then, as before, apps started not working. Some even claimed missing files though I saw the files in file explorer.
I think it was a bad ram chip or something but I really couldn't tell. Since I'm in the Philippines, I took it into a local SE shop for repair. They kept it for 3 weeks "Under Observation" No kidding - that's the exact quote. Like they had an IV and a machine that goes "PING" hooked up to it.
Anyhow, after 3 weeks, they reported the unit as DOA to SE and I had a NEW - not refurbished - unit in my hand within a day.
This new unit is functioning flawlessly so far. I personally think they had a bad run of units of which we all seem to have been sold.

Ah you went directly to SE - yea that is probbably the best thing to do because Vodafone will definatley not give u a new one in the UK -
When you get your new one check to see if it says NN XPERIA X1 or Nearly NEw Xperia X1 - NN=Nearly New meaning it is used/refurbished they were sneaky

I never did think Vodafone would give me a new one but I shall definitely check this when they do deliver it. I do like the phone a lot but it's a shame Vodafone just don't catch on. I know they've stopped selling them in the shops due to a lot of these issues, I honestly think I should be given the option of another phone not just giving me something that could inevitably go the same way as my last one. Oh well... we'll see how this one goes before I rage at them

If u read my "mein Kampf" thread you will know how difficult vodafone can really be - i spent literally 2 hours a day on the phone to them because they never actually made the orders for delieveries and gosh it was just awful but if you make a fuss about not wanting a refurbished one (like i did) i got sent about 5 different x1's being promised they would be new only to find out they were "NN" but at the end i said this phone is the reason i started the contact and they said if you dont want it we can offer you a similar phone but x1 was the only Windows Mbile phone they offered If you ask them they will probbably give you an option for a different phone)
Oh God! I had read that Mein Kampf post before, about 2 or 3 months ago. That was you hey :\ bad times! I think I might see how long this new x1 they're bringing tomorrow lasts. I mean if it can last 6 months like this one has until I'm due an upgrade again then that'd be nice. I know there are a lot of good looking phones coming in the future. And I'm actually quite excited to see Windows Mobile 6.5 on my phone when it's all out of beta and being cooked into some tasty ROMS.
But I think we can both agree Vodafone are being a bit of a letdown. I've been with them for going on 6 years now, you'd think they'd appreciate their long time customers a little more than the possibility of a NN x1
I have same problem too when opening or closing the slider fast or any relatively violent lateral shock on the phone. Seems like some contact is loose inside the phone (Not battery contacts Im afraid). I also have the cracks in usual places.
Hope these problems all stop right here and phone works untill WM7 is ready.
Just tired of all these crap

Touchscreen Issue

Hi,
Have just purchased a new Nexus one from the US (am based in India). So the phone is basically not under warranty.
The phone is a new piece and everything is in place. However there is a part of the screen that is unresponsive. It's the part where the "asdfghjkl" row of the keyboard is.
Have tried hard and soft reset
Was wondering if anyone else has faced such issues and whether this is a hardware or a software issue. Any suggestions on what I should do next?
Again I am based in New Delhi India.
Cheers,
If the screen is completely non-responsive to touch in that area (not just in the keyboard), it sounds like your digitizer (the touchscreen itself) is broken. I would contact the people you bought it from, because they may be willing to accept a DOA (Dead On Arrival) exchange.
If they aren't willing to do it, there are replacement digitizers you can get online, however, it does require a little finesse to get the phone apart and the touchscreen replaced.

Yup,
Its completely non responsive in that area. A couple of time they do respond by sliding over the key. But touching the key does not register.
Replacing a digitizer sounds scary. Is there anyway I could possibly ensure that it isn't software issue or something before I take the leap and purchase a digitizer.
Also could someone give me links to a place from where I could purchase a digitizer and a good guide to replace the same.

About the only way I can think of to check if it isn't software is to load different firmwares on there. You could try the passimg method to take you back to an older stock version of android, or you could unlock the bootloader and try a custom one like CyanogenMod.
Replacing the digitizer is a pretty in-depth job, but there was a guy on youtube that documented him doing it with like a 40+ part videos. It is what I used when I replaced mine.
As for replacement parts, I used ebay, but there are other sites out there that sell them. A search on google should pull them up (I can't do it here as the ones I found were blocked).

Ok.
Am in office right now. So would go home and flash a different firmware. Will let you know if that works.
Also unrelated, the guide I read on Lifehacker suggested SuperOneClick for rooting the phone and installing a different ROM using ROM manager. So logically I don't have to unlock the bootloader right? Not that it would make a difference since the phone is anyway out of warranty. Was just wondering. Sorry if the query seems a tad noobish.
Cheers,
Nope. That didn't work. Rooted and flashed the latest Cyanogen Mod. The problem still persists. Sucks.
Have reverted to Stock ROM and Unrooted.
Any Help?
Cheers,
Enable full rotation, and use the phone upside down?
If you are having the same issue present on mulitple firmwares, I think it has to be the digitizer. Is there seriously no DOA warranty from the people you ordered it from? The seems like a bad company to deal with.
@rat haha... but it still doesn't solve his bad touchscreen... although he could at least type.
if you have cyanogenmod installed, there is a test module (under dev tools in the app launcher) called pointer location, which can visualise the pointer as your finger touchs the screen. if your finger go over the region in question (lower half, i believe), you can see if the pointer has been misdirected to a wrong place, or if the finger touch has not been registered at all. may not be a cure, but at least you'll know what the issue is. hope it helps.

Yes tried that. Got a mixed result. Horizontally swiping the screen from left to right on the non responsive area does not register anything. Swiping top to bottom slowly produces a small gap where the screen is not responding. However doing a fast swipe top to bottom does show I line even at the part where the screen is non responsive otherwise. Can't say what to make of it.
On the positive note, I had a word with the seller (on Amazon) about my current predicament. They told me that they could give me a refund/replacement if I were able to ship the product back to New Jersey. An insured package through Blue Dart wasn't however turning out to be a feasible proposition. So the seller has agreed to give me a part refund and let me keep the phone. The exact detail are still in negotiation. So lets see.
And finally, there is a feature in CyanogenMod which allows the top bar to be shifted to the bottom (for tablet owners basically). Enabling that option on my phone however shifts the keyboard a little up. Giving me full functionality (as the unresponsive part of the screen is not taken up by the keyboard anymore)
Now the only issue is while trying to type in the landscape mode with either the 'e' or the 'i' key not working (depending on whether you're holding the phone with the trackball on the left or the right)
So it's working fine for the past couple of days. Will be taking the phone to HTC here in India. They've given an initial quote of Rs. 500 (around $10) to replace the digitizer (labour only) provided I can procure the digitizer myself. A digitizer would cost me around $30-35 (including shipping). So a total repair job of around $40-50. Now lets see how much partial refund the folks at Amazon are willing to offer.
Since the phone is quite cheap (I got for $269 unlocked) doesn't make sense to send it back and incur a fortune on shipping alone.
Sorry for the long post. I'll try to post a screen shot of the 'Pointer Location' results.
Cheers,
Roy

This one is moderate speed vertical Stokes. Notice how the colour changes as the pointer approaches non responsive area.
Tried to draw straight horizontal lines. Gets fuzzy in the non responsive area.
Fast vertical lines. Does not seem to be a problem here.
Any comments?

There is now a 303K Nexus 4.

I have RMA'd 8 Nexus 4's. I have used every model except the 210k. I've noticed many improvements in build quality.
With the 302K, we got the little nubs and a more solid feel. Almost all of my Nexus 4's had creaking and build quality issues.
This 303K is perfect. The striping/banding problem with the display has been significantly reduced and the build quality is perfect.
This is the best Nexus 4 I've used. No problems at all. This will be my last RMA. I am keeping this one. :good:

Glad to hear that. Thanks for the information. Google has been quick and effective. Maybe I will send mine to see if they can replace it...

For me, the RMA's have been extremely quick. They ship me a new device in two days flat.
can i check if your phone is rooted when you RMA? I called the nexus hotline and stupidly tell the officer that my phone is rooted with custom rom.
Initially he wanted to direct me to manufacturer then I told him that I will insist on RMA with play store as I am going to restore it back to stock and relock it.
So now he needs to let his specialist know to see if they can still allow me to RMA it.

oh so yr is rooted with custom rom and you reverted it to stock and relock.
They accepted all without any issues? I am worried that they will reject and I end up having 2 devices. Moreover, I am in SIngapore and i have to pay taxes for the faulty phone if play store rejects it.

Yep. No problems so far. I did the exact same procedure for every device. With some of them, I noticed a problem right away and didn't bother to do anything at all. I just called Google right away.

ah thats what I was thinking too.. its a developer device and they expect us not to root?
Was taken aback when the customer service officer says the warranty will be void and blah blah.. Guess I will wait till what the specialist instructs..
my Rev 10 212k powerbutton is failing on me.. zz
Yeah the one I ordered a late march was a 303k version as well, and nothing has gone wrong with mine yet.
ah crap. google play just replied and they are biting on the fact that I had tampered with my phone's software and voiding my warranty. I have written another long email hopefully they can allow me to just rma.
This is plain rubbish. A nexus device but dont allow root.
Does only nexus 4 from USA have this type of serial number?

When I bought my N4 on March 28th, it was also a 303K - and I grabbed it from my carrier rather than through Google Play (didn't want to wait for shipping, and it was only $7 more, so I decided it was worth the convenience). Also, it's one without the new little nubs. Aesthetically and functionally, it was absolutely perfect! Screen was beautiful, especially when using AOSPA with it's nicely tuned kernel. Still fragile, though, as it's first fall less than 2 feet did shatter the screen. To be fair, it hit concrete face-down, so I'm not really surprised it broke... and to answer hoangtungst, I got mine in Canada.

That sucks but to be brutally fair you can't argue really. They make no secret of the fact you void your warranty by rooting.
Sorry
Just out of interest would anyone pay a bit extra for a "true" dev phone in that the warranty remains intact for any software changes?
Thinking about it tho, that would leave lots of grey areas and loopholes, such as turning of thermal throttling and physically damaged the CPU etc.
Mine is a 302k, it doesn't squeak, it does not have nipples, and display is perfect. 303k just means produced in Korea in march 2013. I assume that more important is the hardware rev version, the external parts are subject to modifications without any advertisement, and they are just related to the end of old parts before starting using new ones...

You said that your power button is failing? Just tell them, how does a button failing have anything to do with a custom rom put on the device?
If you fried something in side the phone from overclocking etc then yeh I could get why they'd reject it.
Really 8? Why did you send the last one in? Cause you wanted nubs and a new lens? I highly doubt you got 8 defective units. So stupid

I had the exact same thought. I don't know of anyone who would have gone through the RMA process 8 times for legit reasons. You would move on to a different device long before you dealt with 8 RMA's. Google should have told you to pound sand when you requested the 4th RMA.

If you try samsung diagnostic menu, you will see the problem again.

I don't notice the problem in real use, but many people do, samsung should recall all unites and fix this.
I remember this diagnostic tool is not appropriate for some reason. Download Touch Screen Test from Play Store and do the test again. Also, the latest firmware update BUA5 has been reported to fix the issue completely, which my phone hasn't received yet (unlocked on Verizon).

The touch screen test app does not show any problems, only if you swipe fast, but anyway, looks like a shady fix

? it is valid, it recognizes the ghost touching tf
I think you're suppose to follow the rectangles and make an "X"; if those register after being touched it's working correctly.
If you have an after market screen protector this may screw it up.
If you're inadvertently touching the screen that can screw it up.
Try increasing or decreasing touch sensitivity.
Try enabling accidental touch protection if that's an option.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu.
Try a hard reboot (not reset!!!).

the thing is it's probably happening to more people because they ****ed the phone with cheap components
the fix they promise just hides the problem away in the touch screen test app
that's why im angry
I'm on the latest BUA5 and for me it didn't fix the issue. Maybe it did make it a little bit better, but it is not completely gone. For me the touch issue is so small, I don't mind. I can only encounter the problem in the test app.
My guess is that many who think it is fixed, didn't swipe fingers fast, close or long enough. The problem won't occur if you swipe on the edges of the screen and it won't occur immediately, only after some time.
OR then it is really fixed for some, but then I guess I'm not the lucky one

Samsung will substitute components and smaller chipsets as needed during a production run.
Result unpredictable behavior after firmware updates because the firmware wasn't configured for the substitute chipset.
It's so bad Sammy doesn't know what chipsets were used without physically examining the unit.
After which they can correct the firmware... presumably or replace said component.
Send it in or get a replacement if you believe you have a major issue.
Welcome to Sammy's beta hardware test program

You are right. Swiping up and down alternately with two fingers close enough still creates ghost touches, far apart no issue. Although the fix may not be perfect, in day to day use I'd say the fix is good enough, because we hold a phone in a landscape mode when playing games, and two thumbs are far apart from each other.

If I send it in, and they open and change something, water resistant is gone, and I lose ip certification.
I probably can't get it replaced because of laws.
Do you also have this phone?
I don't know about that hardware beta tester, because even people that bought the phone days ago, have this issue.

I have the 10+. If Samsung repairs it they will send it back with the original seals. It's not rocket science.
In time after enough have been seen Samsung may well include a firmware patch for the effected units. Lol, after over a year and a half Samsung finally has the Buds+ firmware dialed in... they sound great, now.
You could also demand a full refund.
If I could get one out of Sony... anything is possible

Imagine paying so much for the buds + and only after a year the firmware is right
They have been putting out firmware updates, and the problem has been getting fixed, but not 100%
Maybe one UI 3.1 does the trick

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 9 TOUCH SCREEN NOT WORKING

So I have a galaxy note 9, and I've recently been using the s pen. because the touch screen hasn't been working all the time.. for instance, I can use the same part of the touch screen to open an app (lets say snapchat) for the same part of the screen it will stop working, then before you say its the app, ill get out of snapchat, to to my message app, and use my keyboard, and it will have the same issue, then ill get out of the app again, and touch where I was touching on the screen and it will work, I've managed to turn on the (show touches) in developer options, to show where its registering, and its not showing when I touch the keypad. I've tried to wipe this phone, I've tried to wipe the cache in recovery mode (its stock everything, stock recovery, stock operating system, and unrooted, and the bootloader is still locked) so I'm thinking it is a software malfunction, but I'm not 100% sure, because it sometimes registure as I touch somewhere else than I press, keep in mind (THIS IS WITHOUT S PEN) I would love if someone could help me to fix this issue, thank you soo very much if you want a video I can add a link to my google drive, where I can show you the issue

Try clearing the system cache then go into safe mode and check it again.
If it's not hardware, software and you did a factory reset (tested right after reset with nothing loaded*) it may be the firmware is corrupted, reflash to same version. This almost never happens, possibility of a rootkit**. If a reflash fails to fix it is hardware either the display or mobo.
*if you used SmartSwitch, factory reset again without using SmartSwitch. If it's working after that, hand load with care...
**Android 8 and lower are suspectable to the worm X-Helper. It can evade removal by worming out of the user partition. It's a nasty one. There's methods to remove it now without reflashing I believe.

My Galaxy Note 9 started doing the same thing 4 months ago. Some days it actually seems like its fixed but I mostly use the S-Pen instead. Its very inconvenient. I tried the safemode and I posted a few days ago in this forum asking about if I had to match the same base version. I was thinking about rooting it to see if that may fix the issue. Let me know how you make out. I can let you know if rooting the phone fixes mine. I sill need to figure out how to root mine because it is an AT&T phone from USA and seems the base version that is on mine is not all that popular based on m trying to find the matching base version firmware. Either way if you haven't figured out a fix for your by time I do the surgery on mine I will give you heads up on my success or failure to fix the screen issue.

Was it refurbished?.... I'm so upset.. just found out my phone was refurbished, the screen isn't original, the motherboard probably is original, the SIM card tray isnt original.. how I found this out, my phone back cover was blue and the body is black, so I decided to open the back cover, (yes I was careful) didn't break anything, and I found this sticker on the flex cable ( I will insert a picture of It), and it brought me to this site "mobile sentrix" where I found out I basically got scammed from a pawnshop selling to me for $200 such a scam, and I can't even return it because it's been well over a month now that I've had it, they would be like, "get out of my store" so I'm basically screwed..
This is the site that the screen came from that the pawnshop bought and sold as a fully working phone... I'm so upset
Keep in mind I'm not hating on that company, even if they scammed the pawnshop, I'm hating on the pawnshop that sold me that phone, and I tried to return it when I first paid for it, and showed him the problems and he got mad and said you get what you pay for and told me to get out of his pawnshop.. and I can sue him because it would caust way more to sue him than to get my money back, and I probably won't, I'd just get his shop shutdown, ughh

Also what would I win? Just getting my money back? I honestly want more, cause I know I'm not the first person he's done this too, like I don't want more for me, I want like his business shutdown or something, or like to be told that he isn't able to do that, also he lied to me and said the phone was 8gb of ram, when it only has 6gb, and he didn't even let me touch the phone or look at it much till I paid for it, and it's a "as is" pawnshop, so if I had a problem after he basically is gonna say I couldn't bring it back
