Hi guys, here is the problem.
I recently bought a full housing for my X8, it shipped with this http://pic.hkyrd.com/uploadpic/SKU/CA/CA100/CA100 (6).jpg
My question now is, how can I replace only the digitizer to this new front cover housing, I looked at this http://erkinson.altervista.org/en/sony-ericsson-xperia-x8-smontaggio-e-sostituzione-display-touch/ but there is the front cover with digitizer on it already and I have to replace only http://www.duocai.co.uk/media/catal...78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/l/e/lensex8.jpg
Can someone give me a good and thorough answer, I'm not making any fun of it because digitizers are expensive. Is digitizer sticked on the back of the screen or what? How can I securely replace it? Thanks.
I think the digitizer is glued to the front cover and it's hard to separate. You will have to apply alot of force.
Be careful because the whole digitizer is made of glass and it can break easily (if it's not glass then it's a type of hard plastic that can break too).
I'm not sure of this, i opened my phone once but didn't notice how it is holded. Open it yourself and take a look.

Put the old front with old digitizer in a cooker, not too hot, then push old digitizer out and use the hot glue to help stick your new one, if you end up having to use glue, be careful as it can run onto the screen

Thanks for info.
@Llor - I heard the option with hot air also, they sayed it's more safe..Also, if I put it into kitchen or hot air, can the chips or the flat cable or something like that melt?

The chips and the cable are prepared for high temperatures since they were soldered together (but in a short period of time), i don't know about the rest toh..
The heat gun is better because you can have better control with the heat but they can also reach very high temperatures (enough to melt the solder and burn everything xD). You must use it from a good distance..
A good hair dryer that can make heat can also be an option. They make enough heat to burn you but not enough to melt anything..
150° Celcius is enough to melt the solder but by that time the whole front cover will be almost liquid
It's risky, be careful..

An yone know where I can buy a replacement part in the uk?
What happened to it ? Same as mine I guess ? It kind of "imploded" ?
1. No, it simply got too hot and dropped off!
2. Have you sourced a replacement?
1. Mine has a small hole in it. Don't know how.
2. Sorry, no. I'm thinking about dripping a drop of glue inthere...
Careful with the glue, I managed to put some inside the phone and had to send it to repair. Now the rubber thing is loose again but this time I will put the glue to the rubber part and then put it to the phone
I had a nice drop of glue on it. But as soon as I tried to use it, it fell off. There was still a small piece of rubber on the stick. I pelt it off and there came this little hole. I think the hole is all the way through, so I can't use any glue anymore.
Now I'm thinking of buying some 2-face sticky tape and fabricate a little piece of rubber or plastic on it. Should work okay...

Open back cover, let it dry for a day or two, try again, buy another
my unit is stil alive but has no lcd display
my friend (cp technician) opened it and we dry it using a hair blower but stil no display
i already tried google got no solution online can someone help me
Oh dear looks like you damaged the lcd screen from what your saying...if thats the case then time to buy a new one really. Unless you can track down a replacement lcd screen for the diamond from somewhere...get in touch with HTC and see what they say.
I hope you didn't cook it with the dryer! I have had this happen several times and a full strip and dry with a kitchen towel and a few days to dry has always seen them back to life.
you either need a new lcd screen, new flex cable to your lcd, new graphics processor, and then you will need to flash the rom

Please tell this "technician" not to use a hair dryer for drying sensitive electronics again in the future. Hot, dry air, when it hits the electronic components, will cause build-up of static electricity. Also, the hot air will probably fry up the components before all this anyways. Good luck !
So how do you recommend to dry it if I ever encounter such a problem. Just take out battery and cover and let them dry naturally on the table for some days?

Yes, thats the best way, you can in some cases use dry air to blow water away
How to or not to Dry!
Look using a hair dryer will not do any harm to the components on a pc board those pcb's are mass produced they are flood soldered at about 350 to 400 degree's which is about 250 degree's hotter then a hair dryer can get. the only thing you need to worry about is getting to close to the specter strip (film cable) that can melt much lower and the lcd is 2 pieces of glass with liquid between them, heat that up and the liquid expands and crack no more display. you were correct in drying it quickly if you leave the water on the board it will begin to oxidize at the solder points and then when they (Warranty repair personal) see that ,they will tell you it is not covered. the only problem you have now is returning it for warranty exchange, there is a small litmus like dot (tab) under the battery on most phones I am not sure where it is on the Diamond but it's there. which turns color when it comes in contact with moisture that is how they know it has been exposed to water. So if they (Carrier you got the phone with) send you a replacement handset ,which is what a lot of Carriers do with phone warranty's , they send you an exchange unit, you send back the bad one and you keep the exchange. then just use a small razor blade and remove the good water dot from the replacement unit and switch it with your bad phone before you send it back to the warranty dept. As far as they are concerned you have a Diamond with a bad display.
PS. When you call to setup the warranty exchange the tech is going to ask you what color the tab I referred to is. so you need to find out from someone that has a Diamond what color the dot is ,so you can give the tech the correct answer. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ed for the sensible answer based on knowledge and understanding, "Replace" is the easy answer based on ignorance. People replace lots of stuff unnecessarily IMHO, bad for the environment and your wallet too.
Also note that rubbing alcohol (methylated spirit, isopropyl alcohol) is a strong drying agent, it bonds to the water molecules and removes them by evaporation. I fixed a mobile that had been wet many months before and it cleared up the board damage shorts.
Knowledge is power, fight ignorance
I have had this phone for about 1.5 years now and it held up,it was running very well but it always had an overheating problem, you have probably seen me all over the forums asking how can I lower the temperature of the phone lol.
Well it has become less apparent with the latest build of Lineage, only when I am using Snapchat but that doesn't matter.
But now what started happening is my back glass is unsticking, the bottom part to be exact,I believe this is because the device heated up so much it weakened the adhesive.
So I am asking now with what material I can re-stick the back glass properly since I don't want it to hang like that for no reason.
Use fevibond
You can use fevibond(Synthetic Rubber Base Glue). I used it to stick front screen peeling off from top left corner.

Could I use something like superglue or something similar to that?

No, that would make it tough/impossible to separate it for repairs.

Nope I wouldn't do that, as super glue is not flexible. I have glued both screen and back glass with B7000 adhesive (most repair shops use it specifically for displays) and it hasn't moved since. That was done some 4 months ago. If you put enough glue on the frame (be careful not to leave empty spots, cover the complete frame with glue), of course avoid dripping of the sides into the frame, I am sure that it won't peel off again, especially the back glass.
I am waiting for new screen to arrive, so I'll have to re-do everything again, of course with B7000.

Never use superglue, it will not last long and will ruin your phone, as superglue's main ingredient disintegrates plastic...
I've also used red 3m tape, does not hold!
Bought B7000 glue, will use it once my new battery arrives, so using useless 3m red tape in the mean time...
-Update-
B7000 Glue works!!!
I heavily flash, test etc. and no matter how hot the phone gets, it's sealed and does not reopen.
I cleaned the surfaces, I applied the glue, and did not care about making a mess (the glue is easily removable for future repairs) and did not care about it oozing out either, just made sure that it covered that border.
I did not use any heat, and it was still cold here.
I then used clothes pegs, 3 on each edge (I was worried about too much pressure, but it was not an issue)
I did not turn my phone on at all, and waited for 48 hours, before removing the pegs then turning it on.
Please note: the z3c is bendable, especially in jeans pockets, I use an anodized bumper to keep it straight. And using tempered glass on both sides is recommended.
***I did however buy a new battery, as my previous battery seemed fat, and I also removed the nfc sticker, but not sure if that is necessary.
Hey guys, so my mi5's digitizer broke and I'm changing it. Anyway I got a problem: while trying to remove the battery both the adhesives broke even before I started pulling them out. Now I'm stuck with the battery glued to the device. I don't want to try to pull it out using tools since I had a bad experience in the past (almost made a hole in a battery), is there anyway I can do it without damaging it? (since it is also pretty new and I don't want to change it). Maybe heating it and using a suction cup could do?
Good Question, I had the same Problem with another phone. I also heated it up with a hair dryer and pulled and carefully out with a plastic pryer tool (no sharp tools here as you stated - had the experience with a galaxy S7 edge that I made a hole into.it and it swollen up immediately...very scary but luckily nothing more happens...)
Good Luck!!
Naily
One way is to heat up adhesive with hair dryer and gently work it out with some plastic tool
Hi guys,
has anyone of you tried changing the front glass without digitizer and display?
In disassembly videos I can only see people changing the whole thing.
Also, do you think I can manage to repair the front glas as well as the USB port with just an iron instead of a hot air blower (and the usual tools made of plastic)?
Thanks in advance!

I haven't done the front glass on mine yet, but my understanding is that in general you're really better off replacing front glass as an entire unit with digitizer and display. An iron on pretty low through a cloth/towel might well work. It's not just glue that melts, it's a thin strip of rubber gasket material with adhesive (okay, maybe it's thick glue, but it looked pre-formed to me) holding the glass back cover on.
Heating probably helps a bit with softening the stuff, but after the first time you peel it up you won't really need to do that again. I'd recommend picking a corner (say, bottom left as you're looking at the back) and just plan on prying from there every time, so you only have one spot where the plastic gets marred.
Don't spend too much time heating, worry more about having a suction cup tool that you can lift with while you try to work a guitar pick or hobby knife or something in under the corner. Have at least two ready, so you can wedge one in, and work your way around without it just dropping back down on you. You'll probably tear the material a bit but that's okay, just spread it back out evenly around the edge on the glass before you put the cover back on. Also, you definitely should be using a case to make sure it doesn't just fall off in your pocket once you've opened it up a couple times.
USB cable replacement isn't awful, just time consuming. The biggest gotcha is to keep all three of the little gold clips on the plastic "mid frame" ring (that's the first thing you remove that requires screws after getting the back glass up) from fallling and getting lost.
You can PM me if you have any questions about this, I've replaced my USB cable/port assembly a couple times (first replacement was defective). And I'm about to attempt replacing the screen as a whole unit with glass & digitizer on my wife's Z2 Plus, so I'll let you know how that goes.
