Rooting Help

I downloaded the mistakenly flashed android 1.6 recovery image while trying to flash Cyanogen 4.1.999 . And I lost my root . Now I am unable to root my G1 by 1-click rooting process. When I run recovery Flasher, both the i am not able to backup the recovery image and install the new recovery image. Is there any way to root it.
I did a similar thing. You lost your recovery image, yes? I used downgrade-firmware method... DREAIMG.NBH+g1 root in a google search should get you started...or search the forums here sucks you got to start from scratch tho...there may be a way to downgrade to doughnut and try running the 1-click root app to restore a custom recovery image?
That means i need to downgrade to android 1.5 before being able to run Recovery Flasher.
Find a tutorial on the non 1 click root method and reflash a custom recovery image via the rc29 exploit...the power of google is in ur hands or at ur fingertips.
Look through the q&a's there is a pretty straight forward tutorial that gets you back to a rooted state.
you dont need to reroot your phone. look at the last few posts i made in the cyan 4.1.999 installation support thread in this section. it should get you where you need to go. if you need help, post there or pm me

Lost Root on Froyo

ok I lost root access some how flashing the update.
What i did was i flash the ere27 I downloaded from rom manager and then applied it through the gui and then flashed the froyo update through recovery.
I have froyo now but I lost my root along with custom recovery. How do I get my root back?
I tried to flash RA recovery and i get an error saying can not load. I'm lost and have no more ideas as to how to gain root.

Im having the same problem.. I've re flashed & rooted my phone from superboot in the process I've seen strange things happen.. Like home key not functioning & power button.. LOL.. I don't even have a recovery image once i upgrade to 2.2... the first time i installed 2.2 using Cyanogen advice everything went flawlessly I was even able to flash his kernel mod to get super user permission... Steps took: Rom manger used to flash ere27 and then stock 2.2.. I dam near bricked my phone making changes to my build.props to enable viewing of protected apps... Now I'm stuck on stock froyo with an outdated slow market place version 1.82

Lost root after update from 893 to 902

I used RSD to go from 901 back to stock 893, did manual zerg root, and then flashed the 902 update, and lost root. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it back?
Update: this worked:
What I did was took 893 FZX file, unzip it, and then take the 902update file, unzip it, and copy the cdt.bin file from 902 to the 893 FZX. I then ran that with RSD 5.6, and that brought me back to 893. I then used rota893 from this thread http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13807-roo...3-aka-rota893/
That gave me 4ever root, and then I used stock recovery to run 902update. Everything worked for me.
But be warned that RSD will wipe the internal sdcard. Follow this post to avoid wiping.

go back to .893 root, then go back, and manually put the forever root in
make sure it sticks, then ota

[Q] Stock Recovery

Okay so here's the deal starting at the beginning:
I bought a Revo 8(ish) months ago. A few months later, I decided to root. Then I went on to flash a custom ROM (GingerVolt). With the new OTA update, my phone started to spaz out. I decided to try to revert to stock so I could accept the update. I was able to download and flash the stock ROM, and then in my stupidity, rather than using AllInOne to unroot, I just used an app off the market. This left me with still having ClockworkMod Recovery installed. When I tried to OTA update, it just booted into CWM and told me that the update failed.
So my question is, how to I get stock recovery back on my phone so that I can get the update and get it back to out-of-box shape.
As you can probably see, I am not very knowledgeable about phones, acronyms, tech in general. If you know any way to help, please let me know in simple terms, step-by-step. Thanks in advance!
1) Boot into cwm, then flash stock rooted zv7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637
2) Then using MTs AIO package, install stock recovery (option 5)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348557
3) Follow the procedure in the new AIO thread to upgrade to ZV8 AND preserve root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566729
By the way, if you have lost root but still have CWM, then just run SuperOneClick to regain root before following the steps above.
http://shortfuse.org
Okay so just to make sure that I have this right...
1. I will need to re-root using SuperOneClick
2. The next step confuses me a little...I already have that exact ROM flashed (the one from the first link). Will I have to re-flash it?
3. Install stock recovery via MTs AIO package
4. OTA Update and I should be done?
Am I right or did I totally butcher he process?

step by step working way to flash roms on rooted lollipop

if your already on rooted lollipop be patient..............if you have had problems downgrade to 4.4.2.....THIS IS ONLY IF YOUR ON ROOTED LOLLIPOP NOT IF YOU TOOK OTA TO 5.0
STEP 1.....ON 4.4.2 instal towel root , busybox , safestrap, root your phone with towel root........install busybox......install safestrap................
step2.... reboot to ss.......on stock slot wipe everything but storage......use muniz way to restore backup rooted lollipop.....after restore boot into download mode install oc4 kernal through odin in ap slot........reboot.......
step 3........your now on 5.0.........install nce apk.....thats it nothing else.........flash then reboot...........this will take you to safstrap.......in stock slot wipe everything but storage......install whatever rom your wanting to use............then install the updated flashible oc4 kernal also in ss.............
step 4......reboot then wait, wait,,,,wait.........wait.... it takes a long time so be patient...........your done....
tip: i did not use flashfire for anything but after your running custom rom you can use it for backups and restore on your custom rom
If we're already on rooted lollipop using the method below, does that mean we start at step #3? And if so, what ROMs are compatible to use?

Ok finally got it working and booted to Twisted v4.0 But I have No root when I use Root checker. And when I try to use Viper app, it says it cannot acquire root permission
Edit, after about 5 hours, I have a Infinite Boot Loop. Just boots restarts boots restarts, boots etc...... Are you having this problem?
I read somewhere that ff isn't able to do backups and restores. Is this true? What is the proper way to backup a rom you're using? Thank you for any help.
