Hey guys!
My Galaxy S I9000 is running on CM9 nightly 08, and kernel IcyGlitch b6, and on my netbook i'm running win xp 32bit; the problem is that i'm not able to get my device connected with adb through usb port. I've tried installing automatically and manually the drivers, but without success. Also i've installed Kies (latest version), but whenever i connect my device, kies tries to start the connection, but it stays in that state without connecting to the device.
How did i manage to get adb (through usb) working?
Thank you anticipately!

Hi , as you are running a port of the nexus ics firmware you need the samsung nexus drivers on your netbook (SCH 1515 is the nexus), i9000 drivers from samsung are now no use .Please make sure you have usb debugging enabled on your phone also.
I installed that driver, but it doesn't work
I have the same problem too. So odin for gt i9000 is not suitable also? I'm confused. I'm using slimICS.

ADB works for me!
I had the same problem with ADB, did not change the driver but did change the USB mode to Media device (MTP) . Settings - Storage - Menu - USB
This then worked fine for me.
I cannot find what you said; the only way i found MTP was in recovery, under DEVIL option

Go to settings>storage>options>usb computer connection>media device (MTP)
Which rom are you using?
SlimICS 3.4. If you're using an ICS rom, there should be an option.

Maybe a problem with the ROM? Is it worth posting the question in that link you supplied?
I am not allowed to post question in that thread
i had a simular issue, seemed to fix it self once i turned on USB DEBUGGING
Done that too
Put your phone in download mode then connect it to your pc. This will install the drivers automatically.

Hi,
I was using F1 V6 ROM on JVK for some time (flashed it with no problems using Odin and Clockwork). After some time, it started to crash more often. I triend V7 but it was even worse so I got back to V6. The only problem was often restarts and sometimes slow operation.
Yesterday I decided to switch to Cyanogen to give it a try. I did it without flashing from scratch. I just used Cyanogen 7.1 installation through Clockwork. It seemed OK untill I tried to connect my phone to PC via USB. I couldn't get any response from PC (not even a sound indicating that something was connected to USB) or Phone (no mount USB screen).
So I was able to charge my phone through USB but not to connect it to PC (tried 2 PCs, different cables, different ports). It doesn't seem like driver problem (no sign of connecting phone to PC, nothing).
I thought that it might be some problem with Cyanogen ROM. So I tried to go back to F1 V6 (wipe) through Clockwork. After doing it, I got boot loop but still showing the logo of Cyanogen (not SGSII from F1). Having no USB connection and being unable to start the phone, I tried to do recovery (I had a backup of F1 V6 from the moment before installing Cyanogen. That didn't go well either. The process stopped and left me with Samsung Galaxy S logo (no boot loop - just hanging there). I cant get into recovery mode anymore. I can only get to download mode.
So the status right now is:
Download mode - OK
USB - can't get phone to connect with PC (no signs of connection so probably not a driver problem but maybe? I tried reinstalling kies, drivers, running Odin, no sign of connected phone, USBDeview shows no Samsung or Kies or Android drivers in my system right now).
Hanging on the Samsung Galaxy S screen.
Did anyone had similar situation?
What do you advice? Any idea on a atest checking if USB hardware is fine?
Was it possible to break USB hardware or driver in phone by installing Cyanogen 7.1 on F1 V6 SGS2?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Cyanogen uses a different file system, so to get it back to a Sammy ROM you need to flash it with Odin. and cyanogen doesn't use the Sammy driver for connecting to the PC. download nexus s drivers from the Android SDK and install it.

OK, so how do I install these drivers when my PC can't see that I have my phone connected to USB port? There is no driver error. After connection nothing happens.
Is there a way to install these drivers on Windows 7 without actually having sgs listed on device list?
any help with that?

Get your phone into download mode (volume down + home + power) and see if windows lists it then.

Reflash the CM7 Rom, and see if it shows up in device manager. Do you get an option on CM to share disc drives with usb plugged to the computer?
Oh, and if you have KIES installed, try remove it and remove the driver pack too (i know it affects ODIN's ability to see the phone).
Solved
Thanks for help.
I got different cable (third) and different (third) PC and somehow it worked - PC noticed connection of SGS in download mode and than it was easy.
I installed clean JVT, than CF-Root and CM 7.1 + google apps.
It seems to work fine for now.
Please close this thread.
Cheers
Used to work fine, last time I connected was doing an upgrade about 3 weeks ago to the UCLA modem and kernel and 2.3.6 ROM.
Today I tried to connect via USB to transfer a new book I'd downloaded, and Windows didn't recognize the device. Has the error USB Device not recognized.
It shows on the device in the status area that MTP is installed, and it says on the device that USB is connected.
Tried everything. I have the latest version of Kies, uninstalled and re-installed. Deleted the device, let windows re-install it. The tablet charges fine via the same cable. I've tried different USB ports.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket connects on the same computer, seen by Kies, can transfer USB. Works on the same USB port!
And of course I have USB debugging turned on.
Any thoughts. I am certain it was due to the change of ROM.
Bump........
Hi Harry_fine,
Try it :
- Disable usb debug mode
- Lock the screen <-- very important step.If you don't do this, kies doesn't recognize the Tab*
- Connect Tab via USB to Win7 64Bit
- Start Kies
To get kies to recognize the tab, you need to have the original touchwiz launcher set as the default launcher
I seen this on other post. May be it can help you.
Good luck.

Are you sure you are in correct forum? I have never heard about UCLA modem or 2.3.6 ROM for GT8.9
Latest modem we have is KJ6 and Android version should be 3.2
Sorry, I was confusing this with my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.
This is 2.6.36.3 kernel, Android 3.2, which I think is the latest official stock for the Tab. I think I used P7300XWKL4_P7300ATOKI1_P7300XXKJ6_HOME.tar.md5 for the upgrade.
Didn't work, same problem. Anyone else?
Tried a solution I found online, found some very long file extensions on the SDCARD, removed them, rebooted phone, and now no problem connected as a drive using MTP, and installing driver.
so what's the solution??

Simply install the drivers, reboot the PC, then connect the device.

it really works out.......thank you :good:
i have a galaxy note 10.1 and it didnt recognize not even the Adapter Cable.....
I have Samsung P7300
just want to root it, but my PC does not even recognize it. not even Kies..
done all the things searching on XDA and other sites, but still the same Problem,
I cant even find the MTP thing under USB Storage.
I can Connect my Samsung galaxy S Plus i9001 to it.
i have installed/uninstalled Drivers, and kies many times.
My problem is why there is NO MTP Option in this device, it is not even rooted.
.
Hey guys,
I'm another noob here so I apologise in advance if I do anything wrong.
Yesterday I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 to JB 4.2.2 via CyanogenMod 10.1. Everything seemed to work fine until today I've realised that I cannot connect my tab to my laptop via USB. The computer will not register it at all. When I plug in the USB the tablet lights up but that is all.
Things I have tried so far:
Turning on USB debugging
Setting the USB computer connection as "Media Device MTP" on my tab
Setting the USB computer connection as "Mass Storage" on my tab
Checking all drivers are up to date
Using all possible USB ports on my laptop
It may be work noting that the tab will connect to Odin in download mode. (When I did this it installed some new drivers, I was hoping this would fix the issue but it didn't).
Really appreciate any advise that you can provide.
Kind Regards,
Sheparo.

have the same problem on my Samsung T989 Galaxy SII
reinstalling CM doesn't help
After connecting my phone to the pc, it shows that MTP device driver failed. It was working fine earlier.
>Tried changing the USB cable
>Updating the drivers through Device Manager,
>Reinstalling Kies,
>Reinstalling the drivers from Device Manager,
>Connecting with USB debugging
>Restarting the PC
But the problem persists.
While my sisters rooted N7000 works fine.
