Hi
I Just got this tab and I would like to flash AOKP for P1000. The instructions are way too confusing for me. I used to have Galaxy Vibrant, SII I9100 and are familiar on flashing customs rom, odin and stuff. But this is is hard to follow. MTD and stuffs.. My device is still on FROYO, baseband P1000DXKM1. What I would like to know is..
1. How do I get CWM Recovery? Do I just flash CWM rooted kernel?
2. Do I need to convert file system to EXT4? How?
3. What is MTD?
I would like to flash this rom

Please help me. thanks in advance!

MTD & Non MTD
From stock, you need to:
1. Restock using Odin to overcome's GB-stock-safe-v5
2. Flash overcome kernel 4.0
That gives you CWM recovery and ext4 fs.

You can stop after the flashing if overcome kernel.
From there on, you can reboot to recovery and flash AOKP ICS (you may need to do it twice for the mtd conversion) and gapps.

Can someone do a simle step by step tutorial how to get the real CWMR to rooted RotoV4 custom rom? All Odin files and stuf or a update.zip than really works.
I have tryed few thinks posted here and ended up bricking my tab and had to flash Roto again and again.
I need this badly for flashing things!

Use the kernal by Chainfire (2.3 version) that provides CWM3. You flash the kernal with Odin, then you can use CWM3 to flash future roms and kernals.
He has careful instructions included. Let me know if you need anything else.

Where can i find this?
It is a thread in the devopment section. For anyone needing CWM3 this is the way to go!
I would recommend flashing Paulobriens MoDaCo kernel either with RFS or Ext4 file system.
You can get it in the Dev thread.
Use Odin without pit and repartitioning.
Read instructions because flashing might take two steps to install Cwm.
I like this kernel with Ext4 for speed.
Cwm recovery is fully functional.

Quoted for truth... Modaco's kernel has a flawless adaptation of CWM. I've successfully recovered from backups a number of times with it. So long as your tab is compatible then don't bother with other CWM kernels. It just works.
ok i have a galaxytab gt-p1000 when i bought it it has clockworkmod 3.0.0.0...and kernel build 2.6.32.9...froyo.xwjmi....modoca custom rom fr1...i was wondering if i could update to one of the lastet roms that is out if so ...how do i go about it and whats the best one out there....do i need to put stock rom back on first...if someone could help me on this id be grateful thanks.
You can try Overcome 4.1 ROM
Or you can go further and install ICS ROMs (CM9 or AOKP, your choice):
You need to:
1. Restock using Odin to overcome's GB-stock-safe-v5
2. Flash overcome kernel 4.0
That gives you CWM recovery and ext4 fs.

Just in case you don't know, overcome is Gingerbread.
You only want overcome kernel as stepping stone so you have a cwm recovery.
Once you have cwm recovery, you can flash anything, including ics.
Since you are already on JQ1, I don't think you need to follow the whole flashing their stock safe rom, since it is also a JQ1.
just grab the overcome kernel 4.0 tar, and also download ics cm9 or aokp ( your pick, go thier individual thread and read up) and latest gapps, put them on sdcard.
I think you do factory reset first, then flash overcome kernel using Odin.
Then boot into cwm recovery by pressing volume up and power on at the same time.
From recovery flash ics and then flash gapps.

Actually more choices of rom now, SGT7 ICS by cdesai (also recommended) and Gummy (not recommended for now seems very buggy, although it has better theme).
After following priyana's instruction,
Remember, as mentioned in each instruction on the perspective rom's thread,
You will get a strange 'recovery loop' as if it's failing to install. Just go back to recovery mode (power + volume up)
and reflash the ICS-ROM .zip file.
Welcome to the world of ICS.
thank you guys very much for the information. i am a noob and i really can't see anything how to do this.. please tell me step by step how to do that if so that will be very easy me to do.. i don't know anything about rooting but i already rooted it with superoneclick root and super user is there too i don;'t know what to do with it. please help me.

First, thank you for reading this. I had rooted & unlocked my at&t GT-P1000 using custom ROM 4.1.0 from teamovercom in January, 2012. Today, I like to something new and curiousity that can I install ICS custom ROM. But I am still not confident by reading from here: " http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22246-ro...ung-galaxy-tab-p1000ln-gsm-build-38-11062012/ " (please no quote). Now, I'm asking for your generousity and patient to show me what other steps I need to do to flash ICS custom ROM after follow teamovercome user guide, and my tab still able to make/receive call and I have now, thanks again. Pleae, please, and please reply to " [email protected] ".
Best regard,
Van.
you already have Overcome, so it is dead simple
- download ICS (CM9 or AOKP) and gapps-ics and put in external sd card.
- boot to download mode
- you need to use Odin to flash Overcome kerner tar
- once flashed the tab reboots.
- ignore the robotic voice, just force the tab to off
- boot to CWM recover (press vol-up and power )
- flash ICS (CM9 or AOKP)
- after flashing the system will convert your tab to MTD partition, but it will probably bring you to recovery or stuck at boot.
- force reboot to recovery again
- flash ICS again
- immediate after complete, flash gapps
- reboot
To go back to GB you need to do the Odin restock all over again though.
Hey everyone so I have decided to root and upgrade my I9000 to ics for the first time, the reason being I want my phone to be faster, i want ics, and i want to escape the grips of touchwiz to try to stretch an extra year or two out of my phone
...
What I would like help with is a detailed guide on how to root/install/flash a good, EASY, solid, reliable ics rom,
I have looked around a little and there are so many different ics rims I am confused as to which is for me, I have heard a lot of positive about slimics,
I am basically looking for the best low risk root/upgrade,
Currently on JVU with KG3 csc (canada)
Thanks in advance for all your input

Hi,
Go with the gospel for the i9000m (kg3 modem):
[HOWTO] Flashing CWRecovery to i9000m & upgrade to ICS AOSP 4.x ROM from any version
Then pick your custom ROM and follow their instructions precisely.
When changing ROM's you'll have to always reflash the cm7-kg3 modem. Updates within a ROM won't need a modem reflash each time.
Read, read, read again before doing what you are going to do and you'll be fine.
I followed the gospel, tried CM9 and now hooked on Slim ICS.
There are many differend roms out there, you can try almost any for I9000. It just depends what you prefer more.
When i rooted my phone and flash new rom, I was like (only 1 flash...), now i'am flashing a new rom every week. You just got to try.
Read guides a lot, and try oneclickroot for quick rooting(you can get it on xda forums)
Go slim, follow those instructions above for the i9000m.....then hop over to slim and follow instructions from website, any problems post on the thread and I will keep my eyes open for you
Edit.......just remember that when you first arrive on ics you won't have a modem so you will need to flash one from here

Hi guys,
Yesterday i've tried to root my sgs froyo.zwjp6 using xxjw4 2.3.6 firmware. The process was successful and i turn off hp. When i try to do a recovery mode, it doesnt work. The phone goes black screen and appear GT-I9000. I reinsert the battery and try again but seems still. I forgot to enable usb debugging. Is it because of that my phone doesnt work?? Can anyone teach how to fix it?
The always helping guy

I have got the same problem. No service it says.
At which point do I need to flash? Instead of the CM9 nightly or do I just flash again after complete installation?
As the installation guide says:
1.)Download latest cm9 nightly or any ICS kernel (odin or cmw flashable), device_x.x.zip and Slim_Common.zip
2.)Enter CWM Recovery, Wipe data, Format System ( In Mounts and Storage)
3.)Flash CM9 nightly or any ICS kernel ( via odin or cwm).
4.)Reboot to recovery.
5.)Flash Device_x.x.zip***, then Slim_Common.zip.
6.)Reboot to system, Enjoy.
So in which step do I need to flash the CM9 Modem?

Flash it after it has booted up, just go back to recovery, flash and you are good to go
Thank you for this answer.
One more thing.
I have flashed CM9 nightly just as said in the instruction.
But it is possible to flash a CM7 modem over it? Just like they are on this page : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783

Yes, if you read they are for cm9 too
Hello!
I currently own a SGS II I9100 and a SGNote N7000. The I9100 is on stock GB(rooted) and N7000 is on stock ICS(not rooted). I want to have CM9 on both my devices. Both my devices are in the faulty hardware list that ICS brickbug can affect. So decided to downgrade the N7000 to GB before flashing CM9. Went through a lot of threads here, and one in particular was by Dr.Ketan which lists all the stock firmwares. A bit unsure whether my understanding of the steps are correct or not!
Download the stock firmware files of GB
use PC Odin to flash GB(as per steps in Dr.Ketan's guide)
after flash wipe and do factory reset(any corrections?)
Flash CWM Recovery(or need to root before this?)
Install CM9
My concern is that the N7000 is already on ICS. Won't a direct downgrade to GB via PC odin brick it?(Please don't castigate me if this question enrages you! I am dumbfounded here.)
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
NOTE: I did ask this question by mistake in the SGS II section(since i'm going to flash CM9 to both my devices). But all i got was a sarcastic reply and a link to the CM9 Nightlies Discussion thread(because i used N7000 as an example!). I did go through many threads before posting this question, so please tell me whether the steps according to my understanding are correct are not and also if i'm missing something here. This is my first attempt at flashing ROMs. Once i get the hang of it, i wouldn't ask such questions. Thanks.

To be precise From GB kernel you can flash as much as you want. There is no risk. Follow Dr. Ketans Guide for the same. But for your N7000 as u r on ICS you need to be first on a safe kernel like Abyss 4.2. Since yiu do not wipe for the Kernel change it is safe as wiping or factory reset from an ICS kernel triggers the brickbug. So as the thread link above will say DO NOT WIPE WHEN IN ICS.

Yes i do understand that wiping from ICS will wipe the life off my device as well :silly: I wanted to go back to GB and then flash CM9. Let me re-phrase my question then. Is going back to GB from ICS as simple as downloading stock ROM from Dr. Ketan's page, Flash it via PC Odin and after flash, wipe and do factory reset? Do i have to re-partition or something? Because in the thread that you've pointed me to, the OP has posted saying going back to GB by repartitioning and flashing via PC Odin! I'm truly in the dark here. Kindly advice!
This is what i have now:
Directly rootable KL1 stock rom from Dr. Ketan's Page
Odin 1.85
CyanogenMod9 RC2 for N7000
So do i have to Flash GB, root it, flash CWM Recovery and get into recovery mode, and flash from the CM9 zip? These steps are the ones that are confusing me.
Yep, the steps you've outlined are correct, simple pc Odin flash of gb, no need to repartition. Then from there you can root and cwm, then flash cm9 zips through cwm.
