Hello,
my Optimus 2X (Speed) is going crazy. It opens apps on its own. When I try to scroll trough my contacts or my emails, the phone vibrates and does scroll on its own, and clicks randomly. So it is not possible, to use it at the moment. It seems like someone else is controlling the phone
I tried factory reset, full wipe, Modaco rom, Cyanogen Mod and Stock Rom. In all theses roms the (problem) behaviour is the same. I also tried different baseband versions.
Does anybody has the same problem or a simular?
Thank you for your help,
Hans
ps: This forum is great and i got a lot of help and knowhow just by reading passiv for 2 months.
i think your display is now wrong calibrated or damaged
Thanks for the answer.
Is it possible to re-calibrate the touchscreen?
Hans
i dont know definitly, my last phone had the same problem and it was not possible
I had the same problem when connected to hdmi. And yes when i touch the screen the wrong position is clicked. I brought to LG service center and they flashed the ROM and after that everything was much better. There's problem occasionally but most of the time it's ok. Not sure if it helps.
If the capacitive layer of the screen hasn't been damaged, then perhaps a hard reset would clear up any issues?
With the phone off, hold down Volume down + power to do a hard reset.
It'll wipe everything on the phone, but perhaps the last option barring reflashing the phone with new firmware.
use your warranty.

Thank you for your answers. I did flash different roms and did hard resets. But the problem was the same.
So I think I have to make use of the warranty.
Me and my brother got the same problem when connecting to our 19 Philips tv via hdmi, but a 40 samsung works fine. The phone is going most crazy when holding it in my hand, when I put it on a plane surface it almost stops with all the wierd behaviors, but it's damn slow. He got an original rom and I got a Modaco rom. So is it software or harware problems? The hdmi-output seems to be ok, if I pull the cable at diffrent angles nothing changes.

exactly what i experienced. My TV is 32" Toshiba. But after flashing by LG it was much better. Also, I use MOBO video player coz it's got options of turning off the whole touch screen except the 'option' button. After that the phone is ok while playing the video.
I have a friend that had a similar problem, and even after flashing everything back to stock the phone didn't seem to work properly... He returned it to warranty as it seems to be the only thing to do...
Have you tried NVFlash???

I recognized it the first time when I overslept the first time, because there was no alarm-noise. Later this afternoon, the microphone refused to work. I reinstalled the Sony ROM 4.2.2, because I hoped, that the issue was caused by a software. But I was wrong.
The ear-speaker is still working. Does anybody have same experience? The Phone saw water but a few days ago. Don't know what to do actually.

Hey, I know this an old thread, but I just ran into something very similar myself. Did you ever get your problems fixed? I just made a post about it in the Droid Ultra forums (link below). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51743758

Hi,
actually I was never able to figure out what the problem was. I thought, that they just exchanged the mainboard of my phone and left the mic (probably with electronics/amplifier/stuff) as is. So I got a new phone, but with old problems. Actually, right now it's working just fine. Don't think that it was caused by software though, becuase even in sony support mode there was no audio recordable by the microphone and no sound as well.. Sorry dude.

Thanks for the update anyhow, man! Guess I'll keep looking.
Hey,
My headphone jack has stopped detecting whether headphones are plugged in or not, stopped a few days ago, my phone is just about 5 weeks old and fully stock.
The jack it self is working, by using the app soundabout I'm able to "force" the sound to the headphones, but only manually. The Z3 never detects that headphones are connected.
There are a few threads on sonys forum but other than recommending testing the soundabout-app which really is more of a poor workaround than a solution there doesn't seem to any working tips to solve it. I my self havn't tried factory reset yet, but others say they have without solving the problem.
Some one with advice on how to solve this (if it's not a HW-problem)?
Unfortunately I am seeing the same problem. I got this on private sale, but I have the receipt so hopefully it can be repaired if it isn't a software issue.
It works with Soundabout, and I've tried clearing that Smart Connect to no avail. Haven't tried factory reset though.
Had the same. Then the sound cut totally. Went back to sony.

Just spoke to Sony support and they said to run the Software Repair, I will try this out. If that doesn't work then it'll need to go for repair.
At least the phone is still under warranty, but it's pretty bad this issue is common. Definitely disappointed, I thought I'd just give Sony a try.
Have you tried the "Smart Key" app by Sony? It's actually just an add-on for Smart Connect (when you click on headset device you can see "Call key settings; Download and install", clicking that takes you to Play store to download "Smart Key").
When I installed it, my phone detected headset. The problem with app is that it's not working right. When I click the headphones button once - nothing happens, when I click it twice, then the action configured for 1 click starts. Strange.
Yeah I did try that as well, and it also does not detect.
This is one of the strangest issues I've seen.
Just tried factory reset, still does not work.
Currently downloading the update on the PC Companion, will see if this helps, honestly I doubt it.
Got an RMA to send for repair now, hopefully it won't be that long.
Yep, I too called Sony yesterday and they told me to just send it in, about 5-10 working days normal time for repair according to support (in Sweden). Pretty disappointed with this after less than a mount of use (and seemingly more or less common error). My store has pretty good return policy's normally, but wont accept an exchange, just repair on this ;(.
Thanks for all replies!
Just got my replacement Z3 compact, seems to be fine now, they replaced it altogether instead of fixing, I guess this was a serious issue.
I had the exact same problem. However, it's strange-- when I changed to a different pair of headphones, it works. The connection is not great, however. By pressing on either direction of the jack plug audio playback will stop sometimes and the headphones won't be detected. Because I bought mine from Clove UK and live in Thailand, there's no way I can get them repaired. I'm pretty disappointed with the build quality. My Z1C was a rock, and an all-around better phone to be honest. I miss it (drowed due to faulty water proofing, couldn't be repaired).

I have problem using apple earpods on this phone. In settings>sounds>audio settings>headphones change it to different ones (for ex i chose STH-30) unplugged my earphones and plugged it back.. might take 2 or 3 tries but hopefully it helps
I got a simmilar problem, if I move my phone, the sound begins to crack and wierd stuff.
Tomorrow I will send it back and will see if they repair or change the phone
I just picked one of these up, also private sale, and am having the same issue.. The headset is working fine then randomly stops being detected. I have to disconnect and reseat and twist the connection to get it to recognize it again.
Googling it finds a plethora of people complaining of the same problem.
I'm going to go direct to Sony and see whats up re:repairs.
I am having the same problem. Music is playing fine for a moment until he doesn't recognise him suddenly. is this a warranty problem?
I'm now on my fifth Xperia Z3 Compact, and still Sony fail to acknowledge a problem with the handset. It's disgusting.
Out of interest, what charger lead/headphones do you use? They're trying to blame it on my headphones/charger/apps when it's blatantly not the case.
toothpick solved my problem:good:
i found a big lump of cotton in it, i didnt have a problem like that before. And i didnt expect such a big thing will become in 2 months.
I think I have the solution
I had the same problem with my apple earbuds and Beats Solo's. I tried it with my sony earbuds that came with the phone, which were never used, and those worked. I tried it with my other beats cable which is hardly ever used, and it worked too. I think that maybe the 3.5mm connector on your headphones/earbuds may be dirty or old. try leaning the connector or try with brand new headphones/earbuds. Good luck!
SoundAbout works
the music app won't detect headphones, other 3rd party apps work fine. being a sony user and a walkman user all my childhood, this is just sad. tried clearing data too!
So, fist time post.
Anyway, a friend of mine gave me his Flex the other day. He was upset because he couldn't get the sound/audio to work and no one could hear him on his end, showing his mic wasn't working (first time this has happened). After tinkering around for a bit (cleaning over and over), trying everything I could, even downgrading it from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 to see if it was a software problem. Still nothing. Yet, when a headset or just normal headphones are plugged in everything works fine.
So, after all of that we took it in and they said it wasn't a hardware problem, but they couldn't find a solution and they couldn't replace the handset with his warranty already expired. So, I was hoping there was someone here who could help me. I was thinking maybe if there was a software problem I didn't catch if installing a custom rom on it would help. I was hoping to hopefully get some insight before going to that.
Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section, still new here.
There are no "custom" per say ROMs besides the cm11 one Playfulgod and I have posted in the dev section. If you're on 4.2.2 download Playfulgod's cm11. But it doesn't stay booted and there is no data. Download mine ,which is only Playfulgod's cm that I've modified to boot with 4.4, and the is no sound but it has data and stable boot. I don't suggest either one as your fix though. If you flash the stock 4.2.2 or the stock 4.4.2 software to it and there still is no sound except through the headphone jack then I can't imagine it not being a hardware issue. I mean it pretty much has to be a hardware issue.
And besides the kats at these stores selling you the phones or answering your questions, stereotypically no smarter about the devices than any other 20 year old that has googled and memorized the specs of the phones. They know specs and sales pitches. Other wise they have to revert to the computer and go through a series of elimination questions to diagnose your issue. Ive even had to show one rep how to use lg PC suite to flash his g2 back to stock. And that's the standard issue software that we all have.
My best guess on your issue is the device could have been dropped or damaged in some way that has loosened or broken a connection or part inside rendering the speaker useless. But that's my opinion.
Well I don't think it's been dropped. At least he said he didn't drop it. After pulling it apart I made sure everything was in the right place and nothing was shorted out or disconnected. So I'll probably send it into a repair shop to see if they can do anything with it. Though a headset would probably just be the better way to go, it's just an inconvenience.

Absolutely. I would hate to have to through in my ear buds every time I had to answer a call
Well after installing Master Volume Control, I have been able to test that the speaker does in fact work. But no sounds of any kind aside from voice call, work, the normal beep you get when using the volume rockers. This is starting to drive me crazy.
might have solution
Just received my refurbished flex phone, realized no sound from speaker. Popped the back off a couple times, suddenly I hear sound! The cable over the battery when lifted and remove the crease caused by shape of battery removed, speaker now works! I hope this helps you. Best of luck.

Hello,
Both the earpiece and the other speaker suddenly stopped working on my nexus 6. I am suspecting it is a hardware issue since I performed a hard reset but the issue still persists. The odd thing is that both the earpiece and the speaker are affected at the same time. Are they connected to each other?
Is there any way I can make sure that this is indeed a hardware issue before cracking open the phone?
Thanks

Hello had the same bug super user app libs was away no root from here to now did nothing.reflashed super su, without super user app like supersu or magisk it dont work for me. hope i can help.
Another question, some times i turn on my display an for 3 sec i had more than max brightness, like a sun, no auto adjust always 20%, may the old nexus now die hard, hope not
Before I opened the phone, I'd boot to safe mode and see if things work. If they do, reboot and see if the problem comes back. Booting into safe mode disables all unnecessary apps, clears caches and resets settings to default. Sometimes that resolves your problem and on reboot things are working again.

So I guess it sounds like hardware. You might take s close look and see if there is damage/dirt in the jack making the device think the headphones are connected. The pin is easily bent and wears so it's probably just that. ifixit has a repair guide.
Alternatively, you might consider Bluetooth headphones [emoji4]

Thanks. I don't think it's the jack issue because I installed an app that shows a headphone icon in the status bar when a headphone is plugged in and it doesn't show it when nothing is connected.
Do you know why both speakers ceased functioning at the same time AND if there is a way for me to direct audio to only one of them, either the earpiece or the speaker, to see if one or both
are dead?
wow. I reverted back to an earlier build from Feb and now it's working. Very interesting.

First, sorry to hear about your problem. But, I am actually happy to see this up at xda. Tell you why. I purchased a uesd nexus 6 from a seller on ebay. Description was everythings works. Pics showed it was in excellent condition.
Problem was when it arrived. I discovered the top speaker was trash. Total robot like voice. Of course seller denied any knowledge of it. My option was to return it to him. But judging from the way he spoke to me. I could tell it was going to be a fight. There is no way he did not know about this. I wound up eating the phone and am currently awaiting a new top speaker. So, please dont forget to ask about speakers if buying used. My concern was body and screen. I never thought to ask about speakers and I never thought there would be crooks like him. Wrong...

It is interesting. Is it possible you had a mismatch between kernel and security updates? "Newer" kernel on "older" ROM? Or vice versa. The difference doesn't have to be more than one has a security update that the other didn't.

More like mismatched or corrupted libs or drivers
Know this is an older thread, but just figured I'd post what I found regarding a similar issue I had. My phone basically took a 3 second dunk in the sink. Everything seemed fine the first hour or two, then the speakers stopped working. However, it seems like the speakers failing is some kind of water damage failsafe or something. The solution is just to turn your phone off and on around 5 times (I can't remember the exact number, but once or twice won't cut it), and you will have the speakers return to normal. Not sure if the OP had the same issue, but just an idea in case something similar happens to others.
Bumping an old thread but I had this same issue and had to flash back to previous builds. I stopped updating my phone around Jan/Feb. Tried to update to the Aug 7.1.1 build and the same thing happened again. I didn't try the turn on and off 5+ times, I'm just once again restoring my Jan/Feb build.
Can anyone else confirm this "fix" or has this same problem?
I'd boot to safe mode first. If it works then, it has something to do with an app, your app restore process or something like that.
