[Q] tytn II bad block - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

hello,
after trying to install android on my old tytn II without any succes, i decided to reflash it to windows mobile 6.1 original rom.
since, i have a message that free memory is low
for programmes : total 85 mo, used 33 and free 52.
for storage: 19 mo, used 8 mo and free 11 mo. usually, it is about 110 mo of total storage memory!
is there is any tool or methode that can format, ckeck bad blocks?
any way to recover theses bad blocks or the phone is no more good for anything
thanks

Hello,
I am wondering to see that in the forum of “specialist of smartphone” there is no proposition for resolving such a problem!
However, for those who have the same problem, I tell you that I found the solution after 15 days searching in Google.
Just look here, it works for Kaiser. I used the same RUU_signed.nb renamed preflash.nbh then radio.nbh
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7193489
Now storage memory is 118.80 and 110.52 is free.
Hope that will help anyone

FTP issues

I have tried Total Commander and SoftX and both crap out at about 1MB into the download. Is there a limitation on file size or something?
I did some poking around. I was attempting to save directly to my storage card which I believe is the culprit. It gets corrupted easily. It's a 2GB PQI and apparently sucks.
I saved a file that was 2.5 MB to the phone storage no problem.
However, I still wonder if writing directly to a storage card period would cause a problem.
Can anybody weigh in on this before I go buy another card(Sandisk 2GB).
Don't know about Total Commander but using Resco Explorer with a Sandisk 1GB, not a problem. I just finished downloading one of the ROMs from the site ftp over wifi without a hitch, so give resco a try before buying a new minisd... Just to rule out software issues
Good luck and give us an update

This is my update... just posted it in another thread with someone having the same prob...
I am having the same problem with a PQI 2GB bought from Fry's(PLU# 5044075 and P/N: AE62-2030R01F4) in Houston, TX. When I try to download something from an FTP Client to the storage card, it fails and when I leave stuff on it, it becomes corrupt and stuff disappears.
I took my roommate's 64MB PQI from his Sidekick III and it worked like a charm. It was as follows.
1 Head
1 Cylinder
Type: FAT12
Sector: 512 Bytes
Cluster Size: 16 KB
BackupFAT: Yes
I have downloaded this program here...
http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
It has the option for FAT12 while FLASH FORMAT will only give me the FAT16 and FAT32 options. It may however not be an option due to my card not supporting it as the program above will not let me flash it as FAT12 either.
I'm using the above program to defrag and repair my card right now.
EDIT UPDATE:
Storage Tools did not work. I got Pocket Mechanic(amazing interface) and Resco which is great and clean as well! Thank you for the recommendation. I'm scanning my card for bad sectors. Any format you'd recommend for optimal performance and stability?
EDIT ANOTHER UPDATE:
This morning I used my co-workers SanDisk 1GB card and downloaded files from my FTP at 22KBps over EDGE which blew my mind. Furthermore, they weren't corrupted. His file system was FAT32.
My conclusion is that it isn't the formatting options, but the PQI cards and the old motto of "You get what you pay for". I am going to have to break down and buy another card which I really didn't want to do, but it's obvious that SanDisk clearly holds it's weight in these devices.
Thanks to everyone who made recommendations and turned me on to some great apps in the process. I'll update this when I get my new card and let you guys know how it went. Thanks again for being a great community!
EDIT: Could people without problems with a 2GB Post the following info to help those trying to buy a card?

Resco Pocket Radio and WM6

Guys
Does anyone of yous, use Resco pocket Radio?
I used to use it with WM5, but only installed it last nite.
This morning i was listening to streaming audio, (for about 15 minutes) and my device suddenly gave me and error about storage space.
My device had 20 mb free, and when i checked there was no space left.
I had to hard reset, because i was unable to locate where the files were dumped.
I just know that /windos was about 59 MB, so it was dumped somewhere overthere....................
The thing is just, usually on WM 5, i was able to stream for hrs, and never had such problems..........
Im not even sure if Resco dumps files somehwere on the device.
Any inputs on this??
Chizz
I'm using Resco Radio on my Hime with WM6, but never noticed such problems, I don't think it caches so much, may 1-2 MB only

MiniSD problem; soooo slooooow....

Hi all,
I'm running WM6.1 (ausdim rom) on my M700.
I've got this weird problem with accessing my SD cards.
Got 1 2GB sandisk and a 4 GB Dane Elec SDHC card.
Both are recognized by my trinity but it takes ages (minutes).
Accessing / copying / opening files all takes several minutes even for files only a couple of KB in size. If during writing the device goes to standby there is a big chance the card is corrupt and needs to be formatted in a digicam!
Tried downgrading to WM5 (sdhc no longer recognized) and tried just about all wm6 and 6.1 roms out there.
Has anybody encountered this behaviour before and found a solution?
Thanks for the help.
BuDDaH
yet another brand new SD card. Same problem
Hmmm.. seems I'm the first one to encounter this problem?
Got me a 1GB mini SD card as well.
Exactly the same problem.
Getting a listing of the directory structure of the card already costs 45 seconds!
Taken a look at the SDHC (hostcontroller) registry settings; the bus driver settings as well as the client settings.
Tried 64, 128 and 265 for block sizes. Didn't help.
If it would be a controller failure I would expect it to not work at all...
Weird huh?

Problems with alarm clock after Apps2SD mod and cm-update...

Hey there,
I hope I choose the right part here... I wasn't here for a long time (the time called Nokia N95 *lol*). But now I have an G1 (Tmo Europe - Germany).
I've done the Cyanogen-Mod to 4.5.x and it works fine (You did a great work with that!).
And then I read the thing about the Apps2SD-Stuff. I did it, but I haven't figured out how to see if it's working... When I started i had about 9 MB free space on the phone memory. Then I removed some apps and had about 20 MB free. But after installing them again it shrink again to roundabout 14 MB free...
But that's not the problem.
I updated to 4.6.1 via cm-updater and everythings fine again (the memory-thing wasn't so important for me, so i forgot to look at that). I put all the data back to my SD (via Wifi and FTP - my computer at work doesn't recognize the Mass-Storage...). And yesterday evening I checked my alarm-clock and there were no "days"... Just 1,2,3...7 ?!
Today I saw that's 4.7.xx is out and installed it, but it's still the same...
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Greetings,
Alex
PS:
I know, my english is very bad Sorry!
edit:
New SD-Card installed and formattet with fat 32 + ext4 + swap, reinstalled the last cm-update with the fresh card, copy back the stuff to the sd. Now it seems that the apps2sd-thing is working (roundabout 50 mb of the ext4-partition is used, and there are about 65 mb free space on the phone). but the alarm-clock-thing still does only show numbers instead of the day-names... the problem is that i don't know where it starts... is 1 for monday or for sunday?! Here in Germany both things may apply......

[Q] Question about memory.

Hello!
Recently I bought my Trinity, and very satisfied with it, BUT
I have some problems with iGO 8.
Precisely my problem is the program memory.
When the phone is in idle, I have approx. 16-18 Mbytes of free program memory. It's enough for almost everything but not iGO 8.
If I try to plan a longer route, the program says not enough memory.
When I'm using it, every hour the phone simply resets itself.
Is there a solution for this, or a possibility to make more free program memory?
I'm using WM6.5. I've tried the WM6.1 ROMs also, but didn't get much more free memory, only 1-2 Mbytes more.
Regards,
S100200
try another navi program,
i am using igo 2006+ and everything works fine...
The problem is that the newest maps work only with iGO 8.x.
