Hello everybody.
My phone's display is bricked. In the meantime already bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus but nevertheless I would like to save all the data from my internal SGS+ storage. The difficulties I have are:
1. no chance to unlock the phone after boot, cause I don't know where to push the buttons
2. no chance to get into recovery
3. no idea, if it is possible and how i could maybe save the data via download mode?!
So, does anybody of you know a possible way to get the data from my internal sd on my computer? besides i would like to reset the phone afterwards to prepare it for sale. any ideas for that?!
Thank you all for help!

is your phone rooted and can you use adb shell?
then you can dump the partitions
edit: if you have succesfully all data restored, flash a stock rom with odin, before you will give the device away (all your personal data will gone)

if you had the usb debugging active then it`s easy, just start it, download from web QtADB or Android Commander (google them), connect phone to PC and if it`s recognized then all you have to do is to copy from it all you want/need
if you don`t have usb debugging then you have to find a way to mount internal storage in recovery doing it blind isn`t hard, you just need 2 screenshots from exactly the same recovery you had installed on your SGS+ then use one of those programs above to copy from your phone. (I think recovery can be accesed w.o. usb debugging enabled by default)

yeah, my phone's rooted and i've already flashed different ROMs with ODIN - thanks so far.
but I've never used the Android SDK and adb shell before, so I have no idea how to connect the phone (via usb mount in recovery? via download mode? boot normally without unlocking it?) and how to use the adb with which commands!?

Thanks for the tools, look helpful and as I remember, USB debugging was activated. But should this even work, if my phone is still locked (with this Android-security pattern and SIM-lock as no PIN can be entered)?
Finally thanks for your quick feedbacks!

ofc it will work as long your phone is rooted (for the system access) and usb debugging on. The pin doesn`t lock you phone entirely, just the SIM
I tried QtADB and it's great! Exactly what I've been looking for, thanks! The better alternative for people who are not used to the adb shell and easy to use for some basic tasks.
edit: faced some problems while copying data with QtADB, therefore tried Android Commander and could copy all files properly

I don't really know what I messed up but my computer doesn't recognize my phone any more.
After flashing Ultimate 8.2 beta and Ultimate 8.2 it just doesn't work.

2. do a nandroid backup trough CWM
3. factory reset your phone, reboot
4. uninstall the phones drivers from the computer. unless you have a computer which doesn't have them installed

try uninstalling the drivers for your phone on the pc.
factory reset your phone.
Does it recognise in odin when in download mode?
The same issue. I have Ultibread 1.4 and wanted to flash the JVK but windows keep disabling it. Can't find the device either in normal state or in download state. Odin also didn't recognize it
I'm on win7 x86
Did a factory reset - still the same
I tried different cables and PC's - no luck Anyone !! Any idea?

Didn't help in my case. I did the backup and wipe/factory reset the phone. Enabled the debugging mode, removed kies and all the drivers, rebooted the phone and the pc, connected the phone to pc and had the same message Any idea where I could got it wrong?
P.S. ANd the phone is now extreeeemly laggy and unresponsive
Well this is brilliant! I have made it even worse. I thought thought, that maybe the kernel is the cause of the issue, downloaded the SGS KErnel flasher and flashed the CF-Root-XW_OXX_JV1-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1. After the reboot the phone is stuck at the GalaxyS logo and is not booting. I can get into the recovery and the Download mode but the phone is still not being recognized and when I try now to wipe/data or do a factory reset I get loads of red errors Please tell me that I didn't brick it yet

Do you have a rom on your sd-card? Flash it trough recovery.
Or doesn't recovery even recognize your sd-card?

Well, there seems to be only a one solution.
You have to uninstall the phones drivers, and install them again.
Then plug your to your computer in download mode and it'll install rest of the drivers.
Then Odin should be able to recognize your phone and your good to flash stock.
But you really, really have to uninstall the drivers
Well I did it before. I uninstalled all related to samsung from the add/remove programs. Rebooted the pc and still getting this error. In the properties of the device in the device manager I have "unknown device". I don't have any drivers on the pc as far as I see. I install the drivers from here. Connect the device again and get the same error

Hmm.. I did change the computer.. Maybe you should put the drivers on a flash drive and go to your friends computer to flash.
The thing is that he does not have the drivers installed before either.
Don't know why it worked for me but... it worked.
I am going to try the last thing - I have a System backup from the time I definitely didn't have them on the PC and see if this helps....
Nope.... Didn't help.... I am completely desperate. Maybe anyone would have another magical solution?
Guys! ANy idea? Plzzzzz. I'd do anything to get it back to life
Me too i get "unknown device" when attached with usb in download mode...ive been trying to get it back workin for a week now...tried everything...which means i can't flash it to gingerbread
Anyone got any ideas ?
I have tried different PC's and it's the same. Is there maybe a way to reset the device somehow?

Hi!
I have a similar problem.
For few days, I cannot connect my SGS to my Notebook.
I have windows 7 x64 installed, and it has never had any problems with connections.
Now, I don't know why, but I cannot connect it.
I tried to connect it to another computer, which has windows 7 x86.
And it was succesfull!
Now, it seems, that I don't have a hardware issue, but I cannot imagne, how I could solve this problem.
I already tried these:
- remove drivers/programs
- tried other USB slots
- downloaded newer USB driver for x64
- removed USB drivers (all of them)
- unplugged my notebook for over 5 minutes (also removed the battery)
Every time I plug my SGS to my PC only this message appears:
"unknown device" - or something similar, because I have a hungarian windows 7.
Sorry about my english.
Has anyone any idea?
Thx for advance

Yes it is possibe. From the root prompt on a terminal you could "dd"the correct images to the correct partitions.
However I would recommend you try to find an other PC (windows 7? ) where the usb does work, and where the correct APX driver can be installed if the phone is in the invisible recovery mode. (you will have to have a plan B if the dd fails anyway).

Try with a micro sdcard. You can see the slot if you remove the back cover.
It has saved me a couple of times
Wut?

Wait, wat? i don't get it, i don't know what are you talking about, butl i went back to the old bootloader, had to buy a new part for my phone, i think this is solved. thanks for your reply!
So I got carried away with trying to get rid of that three dot menu button at the bottom of the screen and I've slowly managed to work myself into a really bad problem. I'm not necessarily new to this, I've rooted my Droid 2, Droid 3, and GS3, but this has been more complicated for me.
Anyways, my problem is, I was trying to wipe my phone so that I could flash a ROM. This is because I couldn't access my settings (I overwrote the original in an attempt to get rid of the multitask button). But while I was in CWM I factory reset it but I also accidentally deleted the system. My bootloader is unlocked, but now my phone is on and I can't get into recovery, and I'm assuming it's because the whole system is gone so there's nothing to boot.
Another problem I had (while my phone was able to boot up completely), Android File Transfer wouldn't work, I downloaded a rom for the settings.apk but it wouldn't let me transfer files between my computer and phone. I emailed the .apk to myself but since I couldn't access settings I wasn't able to pick my usual email (although now I'm thinking I should have just used the email I first signed in with). Not as much of a concern but input is still welcome.
I've looked up RUU but it looks like it's not available yet for Verizon. Any possible solutions would be MUCH appreciated.
Don't worry, your device is not bricked.
If your bootloader works well, you must select fastboot and flash the recovery via fastboot.exe in the command line. Now you should be able to get into recovery.
If you wiped your partitions, you can have a trouble with mounting /sdcard. Then you should get an OTG Micro USB cable and put ROM on your USB stick, but I'm not sure if TWRP recovery for HTC One supports mounting flash memory from USB host.

Install the latest drivers and try from a windows 7 pc (or windows 8, win 8.1 doesn't work well)
Reinstall drivers if you haven't already and try the correct file for your 'Modelid' here. It's the only way I got mine to work again after i did the same thing.
Note: The file i used had a different software version but it still flashed ok.
After that, if you can find the right Nandroid you now have the ability to flash that

Hi there.
I recently flashed the OmniROM to my i8190, but since it got several issues, after two weeks i decided to flash stock ROM.
So i enter TWRP recovery and wipe all data on the smartphone, but then my computer crashed and lost the VM that got Odin and drivers etc. so in a new VM i decided to try to flash, but now i can't.
Odin doesn't recognize my i8190, i thought ADB sideload could do the trick following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559200but all i got was:
error: device not found
Now i ended up with a pretty brick hahaha.
How can i flash a ROM ..ANY to my phone.
I got another i8190 so i installed the drivers from it to the VM, all except the MTP device, that got error.
I also installed SAMSUNG drivers, but nothing, ... i'm kind of losing it now hahaha.
Can someone helpe me flash this thing?
a) I CAN enter TWRP Recovery
b) I CAN enter Download Mode
c) Don't know if Odin doesn't pick it up since USB Debug i presume it's not on, but then again, since no OS is installed, i don't know how to turn it on from recovery or something like it.

Try another usb port and/or another usb cable. Also make sure that nothing with kies is runnung in background if you happens to have that installed.
When you connect with adb, also take a look on your phone screen if it asks for authorization to connect.
You got both download and recovery so problem is with connection/drivers.

Try this :
If you have an external sdcard in your s3 mini then :
1. remove it and put it into a other phone
2. download a ROM and move the ROM what you downloaded to your external sdcard
3. Put the external sdcard back to your s3 mini
4. Go to recovery and choose "install from external sdcard"
5. And intstall the ROM
6. Done! You have a OS again.
It's very easy and if you don't have a external sdcard then you have a big problem bro

Thanks to all.
Glad you've got it sorted.
I've noticed my PC wants to install drivers for the phone almost constantly. Every small change seems to result in a change of driver. It can be frustrating.

due to windows updates this should be expected that certain third party software like the drivers would need updates
so that leaves two choices
either keep your stuff up to date
or
get left behind and drowned in problems
Aloha guys, ****ty sob story incoming..
I just recently lost my pet and my fiance in the last 6 months. My Note 5 has years of photos of both on it. I would love to see these photos again as they are important.
I've used the Samsung Account to transfer texts and stuff, however when it came to data it did not touch ANY of my FB downloads, web downloads AND my entire camera folders (10+ gigs of cat and gf pics).
I've tried using SmartSwitch, it asks for the phone to be put in USB transfer mode. Hard to do with no lcd. Other data recovery apps reqauest USB debugging be enabled. Another hard thing to do with no display.
So this is what I got: Stock SM-920T Note 5 with black screen. Digitizer works. Battery works. Device has no pin, just swipe unlock (done with Samsung acct).
What I need: USB Debugging, USB file transfer. Anyway to get my files of the internal system.
My current phone is a S8+ if it matters.
Change recovery to TWRP, it will grant access to internal storage. Just get it into Download mode, press volume up to accept and connect the phone to your PC and Odin will install TWRP.

You can't make a backup at this point. It is the same TWRP for all Android versions.
