[Q] Bootloop after cm9 restore - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys! I'm getting a bootloop after a cm9 restore...what can i do?

what you exactly want ??? do you want to get back to gingerbread or you want to install another CM9 or what ????

I only want to fully restore my CM9 backup

My advice to you is to go back to gingerbread (of three parts with re-partition checked ) then flash semaphore or CF-root through odin then flash CM9 again without doing the back up because it might be damaged so that it bootloops .

[Q] random reboots and no service on ics i9000

hello,
I'm trying to flash ics on my friend's sgs i9000(2.3.3), but some probs occured.
I flashed the rc3.1 aosc icssgs rom (tried cm9 teamhacksung too) and it worked great for about 30 mins and then a random reboot occured. since then they occured randomly when i turned off screen, turned it on, or even just on idle...
I also had no service which i didn't know how to fix (tried different modem it worked but not for long). i'm in israel.
Eventually I odin flashed the stock orange rom back and semaphore 2.1.1 gb kernel in order to to do a nandroid restore.
well I wanted to ask if any of these might happen on the doc's master ics rom v3.1.
and how do I restore the service (on my defy i have the defy baseband switcher) as the service menues don't apear to work on these ics build(is there any way of preserving the baseband/modem from the stock rom?)
Hi,your SGS has the original IMEI?
Try flashing this Stock rom I9000XXJVU 2.3.6 with Odin.
The Guide:w.w.w.theandroidsoul(.)com/xxjvu/
and flash this kernel. Here is the guide for this.
w.w.w.theandroidsoul(.)com/root-xxjvu-firmware/
After this go to recovery and flash the RC3.1 or the newer RC4.1.

[Q] Nand backup question involving ICS and JVU

So here's the scenario;
I'm currently on an odexed JVU rom. My CWM is version 5.0.2.7.
I would like to flash an ICS build soon, haven't decided between CM9, AOKP build 33, a derivitative of an AOKP build or Slim ICS (as i understand, a rom of its own with highlights of CM and AOKP).
I was wondering, if i flashed one of the aforementioned ICS roms and for some reason wanted to return to my current JVU rom, could i just restore a JVU nand backup in CWM in the ICS rom, or would i have to reflash stock JVU, then semaphore kernel (that's how you install the JVU rom in the first place), then restore my JVU nand backup.
And if i can restore my JVU nand backup on an ICS rom, is it only possible some roms or a specific kernel with a version of CWM 5 built in?
I don't know whether restoring nand backup over some other rom works or not (I think I tried once but it didn't work) but I would suggest first flashing the JVU with the kernel of your choice and then restoring the backup.. this will give you your previous configuration without any problems..
coolio
just wanted to see if i could avoid odin, my micro usb port on my phone is a little loose and it isn't a problem really when charging or transfering but i'd be in tears if something went wrong during an odin flash because my usb cable was jiggled

downgrade to GB by flashing CM7 through recovery.. you'll have to flash twice.. first flash and reboot recovery and then flash again.. ofcourse with wipe the first time atleast..
then flash JVU through recovery
Did not know that! That could have caused some problems, thanks a bunch for letting me know

[Q] How to downgrade from official ICS to GB safely

Hello guys
Since warnings about N7000XXLPY ICS kernel risks of hardbrick galaxy note i suppose that's a lot of people like me who installed last ICS 4.0.3 want to go back to GB but are affraid to do it to avoid geting theire Note dead.
I asked the question but no answer i just found this video explaining how to do it ,The problem is that it is a downgrade from an UNOFICIAL ICS rom to GB.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&feature=plcp
STEPS : 1- go to recovery mode ( even it's not recommended to do anything with cwm with lpy kernel )
2- flash abyss kernel 4.2 final (browse zip )
3- reboot recovery
4- Wipe all- reset factory
5- always in cwm, browse GB rom and flash it
6- Reboot system
My question is : can we use the same way to go back to gb from official stock ics 4.0.3 SAFELY ? We have not many times to do it, may be we have one chance to do it right or we get the galaxy note bricked so plz any help will be appreciated .
Thanks
I have restored stock GB from stock German ICS twice with PC Odin. I had flashed the ICS ROM through mobile odin over a rooted stock GB ROM. I just flashed the ROM and NOT the LPY kernel. Had neither the root nor CWM.
I simply used PC Odin to downgrade without no problems.

[Q] i9000 tried to flash CM9...kinda fsck'ed

[email protected],
after successfully flashing CM9 to my Defy I convinced my friend to go to ICS as well...so far so good/bad!
I followed the guide to install CMW recovery and did a backup of the stock ROM.
After this I copied CM9 nightly and the google apps package to the internal memory...apperantely the zip package of the google apps was bad, so i tried to boot into CM9..it took a damn long time, so I removed the battery (OK, bad move...but so be it don't bit*h about it!)..CM9 booted but said someting about "encryption of the storage failed..please do a factory wipe"......I did so, using CWM recovery...which ended me up in a boot loop without having access to CMW recvry.
So I thought, flashing the zImage again with heimdall will have the bootloader rewritten (maybe the 2nd bad move this day) so I can access recovery again...I imagined zImage was kinda like a BIOS of a PC...apparently it is NOT
After some google-f00 I found out I have to flash an official FW from samsung, with repartitioning, using odin, am I right?
But the probel is, that they tell me to do a *#7465625# to find out details about the stock firmware...but this is not bossible because the phone hangs at the galaxy s boot logo.
So my question is...what can I do to access either recovery or the stock firmware with a phone stuck at boot logo (i can boot into download mode) and having only a nandroid backup of the stock rom?
Can anybody tell me what to do without spending 200 coins to obtain another SGS for my friend (Yeah, I told him that the risk is to brick the SGS, but I have a kind of guilty conscience.
Hope someone can help...
Thanks a lot!
Odin doesnt care about whats currently on your phone . Just go to samfirmware. Com, find a nice stock rom (2.3.3) for i9000, and flash it with odin. If you dont know how to use odin: use the search button in the i9000 section ''how to use odin''. keep us updated / or if you have any other questions

hey
when i screwed my sgs, odin + darky ressurection rom helped
i can't post a link , google "Darkys_v9.2_Resurrection_Edition.zip" ,though i can't remember if i used that version. some got removed, try to look for a sourceforge link. That still works
and see the reply above how to use odin
Hey,
There are also lots of tutorials on youtube, and other sites to show how to flash an original rom. I also screwed up my install of CM9. And then I followed this guide to get the original rom running again.
w w w.theandroidsoul.com/download-install-xxjvs-firmware-update-galaxy-s-i9000-to-android-2-3-5/
After that, use this link for rooting + CWM:
w w w.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvs/
Greets from Holland !
PS: can't link -_- so you have to copy and paste the URL.

hmmm... i read from another site there are some custom rom that requires the phone to be in a rooted stock rom or another custom rom...
example:
to install Galaxy S GT I9000 with Orange Amestris v7.3 ROM Custom Firmware you need to be on stock XWJW1 or XXJVU Firmware since the baseband of "amestris" would be on xwjw1 or xxjvu or custom rom with the same baseband...
what stock rom/firmware the phone was in anyway?im guessing gingerbread stock rom? you still got a chance to update it right since you can access download mode...
from what i can remember, i updated my boyfrnd's s2 from gingerbread to official ics from "sammobile".com (remove quote)
then updated it to a custom rom...
well this might be irrelevant but this is how i updated my galaxy s:
well on my galaxy s i updated it from gingerbread stock rom rooted to gingerbread miui then to ics miui andy's version, since im on ics i have successfully tried different ics custom rom like darknight, slimics, elite etc...
hope this kinda help =]
Thanks a lot...I flashed the original firmware (it didn't start properly, but I don't care) and with this was able to flash the zImage again...then I was able to access bootloader and reinstall CM9
