[Q] CWM flashing doesn't work Android BKP 3e - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I'm trying to flash cwm on my gf's i9000 running frojo & android backup 3e using this method.
When I tried rebooting in CWM it just boots in Android Recovery 3e, if I try install the UPDATE.zip by hand it says the uptdate.zip can't be veryfied.
So my quiestion is whats the best way to install CWM on this Galaxy S.
Regards
EDIT Buildnumber FROYO.XWJPF
EDIT2: I just installed Build XXJPO, and flashed the ‘CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPO-v1.2-Busybox' via Odin, now the above merthod worked.

CWM recovery problem?

Hi all, i just recently rooted my i9000m with psneuter on superoneclick, easy stuff, i came from a desire z so in comparison the root process was much easier, anyways i
went to rom manager, flashed CWM, reboot into recovery, and voila, stock 3e recovery, no reinstall packages option, and apply update.zip not working. What's wrong?
baseband version I9000UGJL2 btw
crap just realized this is in wrong section, please disregard
Facing the same problem here. It seems the froyo has recovery 3e which doesnot allow the unsigned zips to flash. U need to get 2e recovery to flash clockworkmod and then you can install the custom roms, backup and restore etc etc....
There is a video tutorial on you tube using speedmod kernel and Odin to get recovery 2e in stock 2.2...

[Q] clockwork and voodoo kernel issue

Hello.
So i've got a problem with my I9000.
I've upgraded it to froyo, official release, so i'm stuck with the 3e recovery.I recently flashed the voodoo lagfix kernel via Odin. I would like to get clockwork recovery to replace 3e, but I understand i have to flash it via Odin, too. My question is : Is clockwork's kernel going to replace voodoo? If so, how can i have them both?
Thanks a lot in advance.
if you upgrade offical froyo then u must first do a root..the root files can be find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108...download correct root for your firmwire phone...then flash it tru odin..when u done with that u must download a rom manager from market...and install it to get clockwork mode =)
I wouldn't follow the previous poster's advice.
If you're going to use cwm, why do you want stock firmware? Try flashing speedmod kernel to get cwm, which has built in root and lagfix accesable from recovery. Or just go to a custom fw like docrom kitchen.
Best procedure for going custom with the sgs is a single flash of speedmod w/ cwm from odin, and then flash anything else via cwm.

[Q]Help with cwm after rooting.

Hi I rooted my galaxy s i9000 on 2.2 Froyo. When I boot into recovery, I only have standard Samsung 2e recovery. I have tried using rom manager to flash clockworkmod but it is not working. I have also tried using the update.zip in recovery but is sayin its not verified. So I am looking for Help
Thanks
When you boot into recovery, do the 3 button Vol up + Home + Power again! It should then load into CWR.
Help
Do you mean once in samsung 2e recovery do the three button combo again and you should go into cwm??? I just tried that and it didn't work. Any more suggestions?? I reckon that I must of just missed something
Help
Please help...
In which way you rooted your phone?
Did you install custom kernel or something?
I don't remember much about Froyo, since when I got my SGS I updated to 2.3 almost straight away.
Root 2.2
I rooted my phone on 2.2 using the one click root application for the computer

Man rooted your phone with this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Possibly when did the cell root, put the stock kernel without cwm. You only need to download a custom kernel for example CF-Root or SpeedMod, you should look which is the PDA version installed and according to that you download the correct version. When you install it you will have access to cwm by the combination of the three buttons (Vol + + Home + Power)
hi there, don´t know if I can ask something about CWM here too????
I´ve got Firmware 2.3.3 Gingerbread, Basisbandversion I9000XXJVO, Kernel [email protected]#2, Buildnumber Gingerbread.XWJVI
can´t run CMW via Rom Manager as i´ve got 3e recovery ..... which ROM shall I flash via Odin to get the 2e recovery to install Vlockwork Mod properly??
tx in advance !!!!

Galaxy Ace s5830L

I tried to root a Galaxy Ace s5830L using Super One Click. and it rooted fine. Then I tried to flash CWM and it failed so that I could not get to the Recovery Mod. Then I tried to flash Recovery with Odin....and now it doesn´t advances from the Samsung Screen....What can I do? I am downloading a PDA.tar I found in a thread on s5830i...is it ok?
DON'T USE STUFF FOR THE i MODEL!!!
5830 and 5830L are compatible. Other than that, you messed up somewhere, probably trying to install cwm recovery on froyo (android 2.2.*). Cwm recovery works for gingerbread (android 2.3.*)
If you can't get to recovery, you can fix it by flashing a new firmware with Odin in download mode. You'll lose everything in your phone, but you'll still have a phone:
1 Go to sammobile, download latest firmware for 5830 or 5830L (recommended the Spanish KTM which you also find in this forum). Flash in download mode with Odin 4.38 (lots of tutorials everywhere)
2 root flashing AceGingerRoot.zip through recovery
3 install cwm recovery
4 there you go!
Also, if you speak spanish, check htcmania forums which offer great support for 5830L model users in their galaxy ace subforum.
Good luck
Ok....I did everything you said and it was working perfectly....until I installed de CMW...the phone started a loop at the startup...What can I do?

How did you install cwm? There are some flashable zip to be applied through recovery. After you root, try flashing cwm4 through the regular recovery, then Flash cwm5 through cwm4.
Try starting over if you can't get recovery to work. Odin, root, flash cwm4, flash cwm5. Just make sure you got the correct cwm version for ace (cwm5 flashable zip says something like galaxy-ace-fix).
Let us know if it worked, I'll look for the links to cwm when I get home today and post them.

[Q] Infinite Boot Loop After Installing Custom Recovery

Hi everyone,
I've a problem with my SGS.
I was trying to install my first custom rom on the stock android 2.3.6 - CM10 following the WIKI.
After I've installed as suggested Heimdall, I've tried to install hardcore's ClockworkMod Recovery but once I've typed the command "heimdall flash --kernel zImage" in the terminal window the phone starts booting up again and again in an infinite loop.
How can i fix the problem?
Thanks for helping

Do you use sgs or sgs+ ?
because i know more things about the sgs+
maybe solution: turn out the battery and then if you can get into recovery mode, flash a cwm recovery zip and an ICS or JB rom
if it doesn't help report back
Greets
It is a SGS.
I've noticed that I can get into ClockworkMod recovery with the 3-buttons combo and i can navigate in the menu or wipe cache and so on.
Is it possible that my problem is due to an wrong firmware? Maybe i should use the multiCSC version?
Where can I find the cwm recovery zip?

Thanks everyone for help and hints!
I managed installing CM10 by reverting to stock firmware with Odin, then reflashing again CF with Odin and at the end installing latest CM10.1 successfully
The only thing I was missing in the first attempt was I haven't installed KIES on the pc (it is new) where i plugged the SGS (I thought that with heimdall i wasn't supposed to install kies) but in order to get Odin working i must install kies.
After kies installation, Odin successfully revert to stock firmware, than CF e than CM10.1
