I have a vivid with ics that I got this week
It's still stock
Only issue I'm having is that a random times the sound stops working: notifications, videos, etc.....
The only way to fix it is to restart the phone.
Any ideas ?

Hi,
I've been using the GNote for 2 weeks now, and its been great so far. But I noticed a strange quirk while listening to music. Whenever a call comes, the volume gets reduced to 10 bars and the music enhancement settings go off. This happens in the touchwiz music player. After disconnecting the music settings don't revert back to the original volume or enhancements and I have to do it manually again. Did anyone else notice this issue?
I'm on XXKL3.Unrooted.
I noticed same thing on galaxy nexus.

So any way around this problem?
Nope

So, I had a problem on the official ICS update where none of my apps except the stock music player would play any sound. I installed Wild Child's rom from his forum, and that worked for a while. But, I still encountered the problem, and I must take out the battery (not just turn off the phone) to bring back sound. ANy workaround?
HTC Vivid ICS 4.0 No audio in media, video or games
I have the same issue on my HTC Vivid after the AT&T official ICS update. The sound doesn't work in YouTube, Netflix, or Pandora to name a few. The voice doesn't speak in Google Navigator.
I've tried turning on and off beats audio.
I've tried adjusting the volume within the application and I checked that all three volume bars were all the way up in system settings. It seems to be the "Music, video, games & other media" volume that isn't working. In fact, moving that volume bar in settings doesn't even make a noise like the other two bars.
I reloaded the ICS update from the ROM menu and started over. Audio worked again for a while, but then I ran in to the same problem.
The good news is that shutting down and removing the battery just worked for me, so thanks for the tip.
same...
I myself have stock ICS upgraded on my HTC Vivid, I can hear audio from Youtube, but I can't hear any sound when playing .AVI movies, tried 4 different video players.. no results, please some1 find a solution!
Try a custom Rom?

Restarting (last option) also gives sound, so I suspect that turning off the quick boot (or whatever it's called) would help too so regular turn off with work too. The restart option terminates everything, while if you keep that quick boot option on, the phone doesn't really start fresh.

Turning off Fast Boot in the Power settings has solved my sound issues. Rejoice Vivid owners no more rebooting just to watch some youtube.

Thank you SOOOO much!
I obviously had to reboot after, but i can hear apps :highfive:
Lately i've noticing a strange sound behavior. Whenever i play Music on the loudspeaker Music tends to fade out and in, i mean the volume goes down and then up, and no matter what player i use it,s happening so often that it's getting annoying. Any help or ideas, has anyone faced this problem? And don't know if it's rom related.
it's like something is making the sound to lose focus, like when you recieve a message while listening to Music with a headset but on headset this problem doesn't show up.
And for everyone to know i'm not using any sound mod.
edit: noticed that apps that use audio are crashing more than they should.
Hay man, I have the exact same problem, Sounds fades out then comes back... Oddly enough it's only just started happening in the last day or so. I'm on stock jellybean update with locked bootloader.
Is there any solution to this? Ive tried rebooting etc but no luck.

Try freezing soundenhancement.apk. I know this works on arc, maybe the same bug applies to XT/XTX etc.

Did that and no changes so far.
When playing walkman..i realise that the music seems like its stop and then play again..its stop around half a second..this happen in a few time per song..
Well I'm still having this problem but i've noticed that it happens oftenly whenever i'm listening music on loudspeaker and i open Chrome to navigate, it Triggers the problem. Been trying using Dolphin and it doesn't produce the problem.
I'm not 100% if chrome has to be blamed but that's what i've noticed
This weekend will try changing ROM to see if the problem goes away.
I have noticed this bug as well

Since disabling xloud I don't seem to get the issue anymore, anyone confirm?
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
I've already tested by disabling xloud, but the problem persists, gonna try rebooting after disabling
Edit: same result after rebooting. The ultimate Test is to play Music then start browsing with chrome (at least with two tabs opened) the Sound will fade out and in eventually. Have in mind that only happens with the internal Speaker of the phone. No headphones or external speakers.
Well moved from TurzzdROM to Gregbradley's Assaye 1.1.0 and there's no sight of the problem, Not saying that was the ROM because i did something else, that is is not enabling Clear phase in Settings/sound, I just activated Xloud and thats it.
So... Try disabling clear phase on settings and rebooting and see if that works.
I'm on JB & is it just me, but I noticed that the sound settings of ringtone & noticifactions isn't very loud.
If you use the max. volume settings, it isn't loud at all....
Any one else noticed this?
It's starting to become a little more prevalent to me the more I use the phone.. When watching youtube videos it makes a skipping/poppy sound sometimes .. Also when listening to podcasts it sometimes gets garbled audio at the beginning then clears up.
Anyone else experiencing this or should I return my phone?

Software issue
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I think it is "fixed" by turning off beats-audio in the settings. It fixed it for me at least... when on phone calls it will pop unless beats is turned off.
Got the same thing only in youtube videos but not when playing music
I think it's a software issue
Is there a fix?
Hi just got this phone, love it except for this fault. Can anyone comment on whether or not this still happens on a custom ROM? You would think HTC would have found this fault and fixed it during development
I haven't used my speakers in about a week so I decided to try them today. I got a weird popping sound as soon as I opened up YouTube. Once I started playing a video, a steady pop persisted even though the audio was coming out. I tried playing through multiple music apps, turning beats audio off, and restarted the phone with no luck. This is only happening for my top speaker only when I enter an app that plays sound. The sound also persists for a few seconds after I stop sound. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks.

In the main thread about such noises somebody has fixed this persistent popping through repair of HTC. It's hardware.
The popping sound (one single pop) a few seconds after a sound is played seems to affect a lot of people! Don't know if that's hard- or software. My device got that, too.

I've seen threads on that but it doesn't seem to be my issue. The sound doesn't just occur when I stop a sound, it occurs as soon as I start playing sound. Its constantly there. If I open up a song, it will continue to pop through the duration of the song until I stop the song completely. This makes it hard to make phone calls too. Headphones work fine though so its definitely related to the speaker. I haven't read about this specific issue on xda before so I decided to post it.

Yes. Your problem is a hardware defect (a user wrote about that), my phone doesn't have this problem. The seconds one (the single pop) often occurs.
