I had a old G1 and I used PdaNet on my Windows desktop pc perfectly fine. I ended up getting a new G1 through warranty and now my computer won't recongnize my g1 when its plugged in via USB. I can use PdaNet on other computers just fine but my computer won't let me anymore. I erased all PdaNet files and folders on my harddrive and uninstalled My G1 Usb driver and tryed to reinstall everything same problem. I don't have a router or a laptop so I cant do any form of tethering except USB.
Anyone have any ideas?
Or any other USB Tethering ways?
There isn't anyone with any ideas at all???
Thanks for the help guys..................
... I was just wondering if anyone has a solution that allows the Nexus One to be used as a USB modem in Mac OS.
I know I can use WiFi tethering and I know of PDANet, I am not looking for alternative solutions but rather to find out if the FroYo USB tethering functionality can be used with Mac OS X (Snow Leopard).
Any help is appreciated.
well before someone comes up with a real answer (since i dont have osx) the easiest thing to do is just plug in the n1 to usb and not mount the device and turn on wifi tethering. This way its charging and being your hotspot.
Why dont you just try to see if the usb tether on froyo works on your macbook and tell us what happens? It could possibly only take 10 minutes to flash froyo plug in, test (stay there if its works), and nandroid restore (if it doesnt).

I have of course tried this and nothing happens, it is not mapped as a network card like it is if I reboot into Windows 7.
Furthermore, I have searched and found several posts saying that it does not work due to a lack of drivers in Mac OS.
However, this being XDA and the innovative nature of many of the people on this forums made me think that someone may have a solution that works.
Linux drivers
If any one can provide hints where the Linux drivers that that add USB tethering ability can be found ? May be we are just able to port them with little modifications if any would be needed at all.
The problem is
Simply and has been for ages (since HTC had this kind of USB tethering integrated since the Hero days) that the solution google uses probably is the same as htcs it relies on rndis, which OSX has no proper support for. RNDIS is perfectly supported on OS level in windows and Linux but not in OSX.
Apple has dropped the ball on this protocol for ages, but up until now this has not really hurt but now it does somewhat (thankfully Google also has provided Wifi tethering, which is an easy fix to the problem)

Is your phone rooted?
As I do not know what it means I guess no.
Search the forum with the word "tethering".
You can check out PdaNet on the market it doesn't require root
free version dosn't allow https connections, but should work for basic browsing
Pdanet does not work. Can pair but then nothing.
This sucks
Even my f*cking winmo phone could do it...
But thx anyway!
Root, install CM, and get USB and WiFi tethering. Or just wait for 2.2, which will have it too.

Nexus one does require a driver for USB tethering to work (or so i've seen on froyo) (windows update, at least for win7, automatically detects it)
Hi I use to be able to USB tether on Froyo with my Ubuntu natty laptop. Since GB(JVH), the function is still there but tethering fails. I assume it has something to do with the USB settings where you cannot select on connection anymore.
Anny ideas will be greatly appreciated - thanks
syslog states
Unmanaged Device found; state CONNECTED forced.
usb 2-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 19
usb 2-2: bad CDC descriptors
Same here, operating with windows 7, with Froyo it did work well.
For me it looks like a Gingerbread issue.
So the problem exists on Windows
too? I am surprised...
Any idea where to report this so it may get fixed?

Objective: to use AirDisplay via USB (since superior performance)
I have a macbook pro running AirDisplay. I've got a jailbroken iPad with a tethering app; when connected to USB, I can use airdisplay perfectly (in fact, I can even run a youtube video through the USB with minimal frameskip)
Seeing as I have a TouchPad lying around, I want to achieve this. Unfortunately, alternative programs out there don't work for the Mavericks/Android combination.
My plan now is to try to trick the tablet into routing all of its network exchange through the usb -- aka reverse tethering -- and then create a USB LAN on the macbook through which to communicate with the tablet, and route AirDisplay through that connection. Essentially, this is how the iPad USB display information is routed.
I tried installing reverse tether USB into the touchpad, but it says that the kernel isn't supported.
My question: is there something out there that supports reverse tethering on the Touchpad? I'm running JCsullns' Kitkat build, if that helps
