Hello, all
I have an odd question
I have noticed that when I turn my bluetooth keyboard or mouse on (Logitech android keyboard, and android keyboard mouse) on my GTN7000 running stock ICS, the phone begins reading my texts aloud to me, even on silent.
But when I turn these devices off (BOTH of them, either being on will still trigger the problem), the problem goes away
This is a huge problem since this makes the phone worthless unless on airplane mode (which isn't bad but means I can't look things up on the web etc) while taking class notes, which is why I bought the keyboard in the first place.
This has been driving me nuts for the past four hours
This occurs even if I have disabled notifications in the status bar.
I have disabled text to speech
I have disabled call notifications
I have cleared all defaults for voice search
I have tried turning down all volumes.
I HAVE noticed that when I set the voice engine to something else (eg google voice engine to samsung vlingo) the voice engine changes.
I have also noticed when using driving mode on, I get two voices announcing the same thing at the same time.
please help!

Hi guys,
I have a strange problem with the TYTN II. I put it to vibration using the HTC home ant it is OK, vibrating when somebody calls. Then suddenly, without me changing anything, it starts ringing as if I changed it to "Normal" profile. When I look at the HTC home I see it still has the "Vibrate" profile selected. I have to press on the "Vibrate" again to make it go to vibration again.
This strange thing happens randomly (or at least I cannot find what causes it), sometimes when I have used the phone, and sometimes even when I haven't.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks.

Have you gone to Settings>Phone and set the Ring type to "vibrate and ring"?
You can also use Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications and set "Phone: Incoming call" to "Vibrate and ring"
Hope this helps
Yes, I have all the settings. I change between the "Vibrate" and "Normal" profiles when I am in meetings (vibrate only) or generally (normal, ring + vibrate). The problem is that when I set the vibrate profile, the phone automatically rings sometimes, with sound, which I don't want in a meeting.
reminders?
This problem has just started to appear on my Kaiser. It seems to show up after a reminder appears. I have turned off all sounds and reminders except calendar reminders but vibrate still gets changed to ringing. I have also used Kaiser Tweak to change the defaults.
I don't what triggered this but it seemed to start when I uninstalled FlexMail 4 and then installed Flexmail 2007 but that may be coincidence.
A real problem in meetings or in a hearing where an official can really get upset over a ringing phone.
I still don't have a solution. I don't use FlexMail (any version) so I don't think this is the problem. It could be the calendar but I have not found any connection yet.
Work around
This is by no means perfect but it will prevent embarassing moments. Try recording a "silent" ring tone and using that for your ringer. Then all you miss are phone calls. They, of course, go to voice mail.
I had a similar issue, however it was in reverse, by once choosing the automatic profile in the HTC home.
Basically the automatic feature remains active after selecting it once, so after the reminder, even if it doesn't have time if your next block of time happens to be "free" it will revert it back to ringing.
Unfortunately I never found a solution and now have a new Kaiser, which I have avoided selecting it since getting the phone.
bluetooth too
Yesterday while on a call using a handsfree bluetooth device, a calendar reminder popped up and my bluetooth connection was dropped simultaneously. The call was not dropped and I was able to turn on the handfree connection again using the menu.
Which has led me to search for these type of problems. I found a thread that addresses a way to turn off push mail notifications. I understand the same "fix" works with calendar notifications.

Here is a thread on notifications.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330872
I am now sure that the problem is connected with the calendar. It appears when I make some changes in an event (not always but in about 90% of the cases). I am synchronizing with Outlook and I think the problem appears when I change an event that was already synchronized. By "changing" I mean even dismissing the alarm when it goes off.
Any ideas what I could do?
Hi guys!
I've been reading and searching this forum for a few days and I can't find anything that is related to the problem I'm having right now with my Galaxy Tab.
As of right now, whenever I receive any phone call on my Tab, it automatically switches to silent mode (crossed speaker icon on notification bar). It drives me crazy as I can't hear the ringtone whenever someone calls me, even though it's not on silent mode at the first place. The weird thing is it automatically switches back to normal mode when the call ended.
I've been missing too many calls because I can't hear it ringing. I already pressed the power button and made sure the phone is not on silent mode, and tried calling the Tab using my home phone, and it switches to silent mode when the call arrives.
Anyone have a solution to this? Please help. I'm on wits end here!
Download audio manager to see what all the different volume levels are set too. Might be something funny going on
I have installed audiomanager and checked that none of the volume levels are zero or set to silent. This is really frustrating.
Is there any way to soft reset the Tab without losing all the installed apps and data?
I have different problem related to silent mode.
When I am in silent mode, all the notification sounds are off but then when I play games, the sound is on. I have to go into setting to set "media voume" to zero manually if i want to play game wihtout sound.
This is kinda inconvient, I suppose silent mode mean silent everything.
It's kind of funny that on a number of the Droid ROM forums people are asking for this as a *feature* to avoid the annoying vibration that incoming messages and other notifications make when on a call.

I have the same problem. All the volume controls are high but ringer don't sound. any idea?
Be sure to check ALL the settings in ALL the settings and apps that pertain to anything that has sound.
This includes all the games, alarm clocks, video recorders, video players, music players, radios, etc. I had a similar problem, and this approach seemed to help.

Same problem exactly here
Galaxy tab GT-P1000 with firmware 2.2
Any ideas, please share
Just rooted 5 days ago with AOSP baseband version 2.42.02.10.29, Kernel Version 2.6.29.2, Mod version aospMOD 0.9.9.2 and am just finding my phone is bugging out!
OK!
1. The lock screen. Initially to unlock the phone, press on it and slide it to the right. Now, when I press on it, instead of being able to slide it, it jumps around to the left back and forth and is VERY difficult to slide to the right. It acts like it's avoiding me and trying to escape. Took me over a minute to unlock my phone this morning. When I first rooted, it was easy. Now, not so much.
2. Thrilled that I can now voice-dial with my motorola blue-tooth, I am getting the weirdest thing. When my blue tooth is paired and connected, if someone calls, the phone doesn't ring at all, it just rings through the bluetooth (well, the voice notifies me) and I get "call on line one". I have set my contacts for individual ringers so I know who's calling by listening to the song, but now, no ring at all through the phone. Phone is completely silent. If I unplug the bluetooth, the phone rings, but when bluetooth on, no ring. This never happened before. I have triple-checked all the settings and cannot make sense of this. Before, I could have the bluetooth on, and the phone would ring according to the individual ringers.
3. When someone calls and I talk to them through bluetooth, if they hang up and I don't immediately end the call through the bluetooth, my music player leaps into life and starts playing through the blue tooth. Not fun to get a deafening song blasted through your eardrums - this is the music player that was loaded when I rooted, I have again checked all settings and cannot figure out why this happens. So now, if I don't end the call immediately manually, a song starts blasting, and I have to unlock the phone (which is tricky at the moment), open up the music player and manually stop the song and exit out of music player.
My loaded apps are as follows (ones I got from Marketplace):
adobe reader
alarm clock
Astrid tasks
B-Folders
Barcode scanner
convertpad
google sky map
home switcher
latitude
maps (google maps)
memory (game)
Multicon
navigation
news and weather
places
Shootme
Solitaire
Swiftkey
Titanium Backup
Uninstaller
Vizbattery
Wordup! (game that I am absolutely hooked on)
Yelp
Thoughts anyone??????
try a full wipe and reflash the rom/gapps, etc.
Thanks. I might try that if I get desperate, but it's such a hassle, wiping everything and then getting the phone back to the way I like it. As a last resort, sure... but I'll see what happens. Just so you know, suddenly, after not using my phone most of the day, the ring tone suddenly started working, so that with the blue tooth on, the phone's ring tone actually rang - so that's a good thing, even though at the moment, I can't unlock it at all - the unlock button just leaps away from me when I touch it. oh well.
Any progress on it now that a few days have passed?
So here's a wierd one. Have a SM-N960U1 on Android 9. Everything's been fine but as of last Friday every time it pairs with a Bluetooth device (headphones, car, etc.) it starts calling itself? I re-paired all devices, turned BT off and back on, restarted phone, etc., but this behavior persists. Music is also terrible during this time, but realized by accident when I press Device Care widget to optimize phone the BT device announces 'Call Ending', and music again sounds great. However there's no record of any outgoing call in Phone App. I didn't realize what # was being called until I got in my car and saw it was dialing itself, but again, this phantom call does not show up in Recent Calls history? Any ideas?
I have had the same issue for the last week. Have tried everything to fix it, but nothing has worked. I am hoping someone out there can come up with a solution.

Recently I have not been able to use or see an on-screen keypad when I am using Android auto for phone calls during the call. I can get to the screen that is shown in my picture but there is no place to press a key pad during the call or an option for hanging up the call. Anyone else have this problem where can tell me how to fix it?
I usually initiate phone calls by telling Google to call a certain person.
Update: Well after a quick Google search I found that it was the Samsung car mode app that was interfering. So I uninstalled it and everything is fine. Let's just leave this here in case anyone else has the issue.
