My phone is a rooted droid bionic with a safestraped rom. I switched back to my default to grab a few files for the rom when I went "Hey an OTA came out not to long ago.". As far as I can remember I have a complete stock and I temp un-rooted. When I start the update it either says "An update is currently being downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete." or I had to restart it and it said in the status bar Download 0%
TLDR: The OTA fails to download.
FXZ to stock .902 and try again. Easiest thing to do.

This morning I was greeted by a message from AT&T that makes it clear they REALLY want me to update.
My questions: What is in this update?
My phone has been rooted, had side loading was enabled, removed at&t apps, and installed the battery indicator update.zip. Is it safe to install this update on top of these changes?
If it is not wise to update now, how can tell it not do install the update? It seems that it will only let me delay it for a maximum of 3*4=12 hours...
You might want to try updating it via Kies mini:

The OTAs have been hit or miss =P Though I'd recommend you unroot first, just to be safe
My Gf's rooted, but unmodified system worked flawlessly with the OTA, admittedly, on the second try. First try it just complained and failed within 5 minutes. Rebooted and it was good to go with the OTA.
You can just use the home button to exit out and it is delayed indefinitely. That is what I did until I flashed a rom that already contained the update.
There have been several threads about this update and plenty of information concerning it. I would look in the Captivate General and Q&A forums if you just want info about it. The developers section is good if you want to flash a rom with the update already applied.

Thanks, that sounds like a good plan.

Agreed, do it through Kies. Worked perfect for me.
And the same usual question:
Why is this posted in the development section?
And:
Why didn't you read any of the 50 update threads?
Hello, I have an N1 with the Innovation OS! v4.0.0 [FRF91] image, I'm getting OTA notices like every 10 minutes asking me to update to the 2.2.1 thing. I use my phone as my clock by my bed, and the updater thing pops up over it and won't go away. I've tried installing the update, and read through many threads about it, and I don't want to unroot my phone so I can root it again just to apply this update.
How can I turn off the system updates option? Can this be done? When there are more ROMs with the FRG83 junk in them, I'll flash it then...
I've seen this question asked a few times by a few people in various threads about the 2.2.1 update, but I haven't seen it answered yet... I'm sorry if it already has been, just point me to the thread...
Thanks!
I know the Moto G 2014 recently got an update, I had recieved this update and started downloading it but had to stop in between as I was leaving home... After I came Back and used system update, It says your phone software is upto date, Though I Know its not??
Where the update went and how to restore it.. If possible without flashing or clearing data??
That is not a big problem, just wait for the Android L update, it will be better and have more features....
Don't worry about it..
At least read the thread about update
That OTA update is stopped by Motorola
http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?posts/56129789/
You have not read this thread either
http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/2913258/
Even if you want that update then you can sideload the zip I have provided in that first thread
Please search before posting

Maybe this one has an obvious solution, but my brief searching around did not find it. I had root access on my S5 using the towelroot method. I used Super SU to unroot. And then I let the phone install a couple of minor OTA updates. All downloaded and installed correctly. The big one 5.0 update however only downloads correctly. But does not install. When trying to install the 5.0 update, my phone reboots, shows install progress up to 27% and then quits the install and reboots into normal mode and reports that installation was interrupted.
At first I tried freeing up a lot of space, when that did not work, I completely reset the phone to factory defaults. And that did not work either. And with that I am out of ideas on how to get 5.0 on my S5. Has any of you seen this issue? Or have any ideas for me to try?
Thanks.
Odin back to NCE then take all of the OTA updates. Use the downgrade to NCE tar found in the general section.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am in the process of trying it out. Will update here with the result.
at least am not only one with this problem wish there was steps too much post on the fourms on downgrades and there steps so different.
I own an att s5 active on 5.0. I don't have root. I read there is a way to downgrade but can't seem to find through searching. Does anyone know or can direct me? I'm oc4 btw
I'll just take a guess here the lack of response is meaning NO
Use a pc/laptop & download odin + necessary zips. NG3 is probably the one you're looking for. Should be 1.?? Gb. Kernals are alot smaller. It'll set your phone to 4.4.2 or 4.4.3(kinda forgot). From there, find towelroot, busybox, supersu, flashfire and/or safestrap & flash away.
Since it'll try to automatically download an update, keep going to settings/app manager/running & stop. Go under all apps (right next to "running") and clear cache there too. Keep an eye on your status bar to see if it autostarts again & repeat. Once you're rooted, you can use titanium backup to freeze it.
Up to you if you wanna download your rom 1st so its there already waiting for you.
Read up on Flashfire & Safestrap. NG3 flasher is an app that lets you "Odin" back to stock without having to hook up to laptop. That stuff is later, and I'm trying to keep this short & sweet.
.......... Once your on 5.0 you cannot go back, only time you can downgrade is if you updated to 5.0 Rooted and since its a brand new phone I'm sorry but your stuck "for now". Please do a SEARCH before trying anything or you might Brick the phone .........
