USB CONNECTION -- PC MODE on ICS? - Motorola Droid Bionic

I cant find a PC mode on ICS like on 2.3.4.
am I missing something? Trying to make a port in HW virtual serial port.
thanks

you're trying to find...pc mode....on ICS 2.3.4? don't you mean GB 2.3.4? as far as i know ICS isn't truly officially on bionic yet thus has no real version of it and regardless ICS would be 4.0.4 if anything.

the said "like on 2.3.4". not ICS 2.3.4....slow down and read first.
anyways, i digress...i was looking for it as well, and cant seem to find anything.
just mass, mtp, and ptp.

the rom you flashed has nothing to do with kies mode because is not a samsung rom, on ICS you flashed kies does not exist.
Do you know if is there any rom that can do this?

not ICS for sure. If you want to use kies flash a gingerbread rom from samsung.
So, there's a way to copy back the contacts on kies' .sbu file into the phone???
UPDATE
I answer myself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17648415#post17648415
Kies air
Download kies air from market it works
There is probably a way to get Kies to recognise the ICS rom if you are using the SGSII ICS rom that was ported to the SGS.
installing kies on a rooted phone
hi,You could download kies over air on your phone, but is there a reason you need kies,as you have rooted your phone...the only reason i used it before, was to update my SGS+...so if you could say why you want kies, there probably is an easier answer

AFAIK many had tried to get it going on various ICS Roms, and no-one succeeded. Do let us know if you manage to connect it.
Sure dude... But its the ICS kernal which doesnt have OTG support right... ???

Update to gingerbread

I've been looking for a unofficial link to update my captivate to gingerbread without kies but I can't find one, reason being that I stupidly used a leaked froyo that destroyed my phone a year ago.. and since then I've had a laggy phone but recently I got a text about a upgrade sadly it wouldn't work and someone said on another forum that it had to do with the leaked froyo... does anyone know where I can download a unofficial version of gingerbread for my captivate? Please I hate my phone now the keyboard gets stuck and I have to restart it all the time...
Here ya go... "Leaked" Stock I897UCKK4 Android 2.3.5 One Clicks *Heimdall and Odin* ---- Boom !!
THANKS!!
Thanks so much it will work with captivate right? It doesn't specify
Yep, cause it is in the "Captivate" Development Forum...
Go for it. And remember, Read and understand what u r doing before flashing...
Thanks one last thing
I was trying to update it but I relized my computer is not recognizing my phone at ALL I tried re installing drivers it charges but it doesn't do mas storage or kies update ect. I've tried debugging mode it used to open up to kies when I pluged it into the wall.. so it's a recent problem :X I have tried removing it from device manager but I don't see a captivate driver under my device manager all I see is 3 standard enhanced pci to usb Host controllers then 4 standard openhcd usb port host controller's and usb composite device which i thought was it but its digital sig is Microsoft and 7 usb root hubs
Sidenote: I checked out your sig but those methods I tried didn't work :C

Did you try the Heimdall version? In the past, when I was unsuccessful with Odin, I was able to get the Heimdall version to work (but it does involve a couple of hoops to jump through). Another suggestion would be to back off the current drivers and reinstall the Samsung one (I remember reading how this was a common solution for getting Odin to work; I used Heimdall to get to GB and am currently on ICS and do not use either now, just CWM).

[Q] computer wont recognize phone after gingerbread

... and two buttons have different function; back and search.
i am from canada and have an unlocked galaxy s gt -i9000 (sgh-i896). its originally on rogers ut i use fido on it. it was rooted and running fine on froyo. then i think i stupidly upgraded with some wrong files. two buttons don't work and the computer will only recognize it as a memory stick when i have the micro sd in. it goes in to download mode, but the computer doesn't see it, in both oden and kies. i have tried with usb debugging. nada. the reception is horrible. im new to androids and have searched many forms. i keep getting close to the answer but its not for my device.
pda i9000xwjvz
phone i9000xxjvt
csc i9000oxajvt.
i searched around and found that the "i9000xxjvt" is for the uk captivate. seeing as i live in canada and this is a rogers phone i see this as being a possible problem?
i have done a factory data reset. no good. is there any way to update or downgrade so that i can start messing around with my phone again?
i hope you can help
See the Sticky Thread in the General Forum -- "Captivate Connection Issues..."
If that helps, then u can go to the "Stock Rom One Clicks" that is Stickied in the Development Forum and choose a stock to go back to.

The i9000 and the i896 are different phones. You can't simply flash files for the other one and expect them to fully work, unless they are made for that purpose. The i897-i896 is Captivate, i9000 is the Galaxy S.
Make sure you have Odin open first, then plug in. I recommend trying a one click back to stock
Sent from my ICS Samsung Captivate
ive looked at many connection issue pages and no luck.
i've tried the 1 click a few times. im gonna try it again from another computer soon. hopefully that will help.
and im a little confused. on the back of my phone it says i896 and when i boot up it says gt-i9000? so how are they different?
**update
so im trying 1 click from a new computer and no good.
is there a way to reinstall an os from the memory stick?
U have an i896 phone that has a ported i9000 rom flashed on it.
That is all.
U may want to give Heimdall a try. It uses different drivers and so may work where Odin hasn't.

It actually sounds like he has an unported firmware. That's why the buttons don't work right. You also have different bootloaders. Download mode can be achieved by turning phone off (pulling the battery then replacing it is easiest way). Then hold volume down (not volume up and down) and plugging usb in. As for drivers, uninstall the drivers you have. Look in program files for a folder labeled Samsung and delete it. Restart your computer. Reinstall drivers. As said, Heimdall might be a better route to take since it uses a different driver.

You have a Rogers Captivate that has i9000 bootloaders on it. If you didn't flash them, then somebody else did before you bought it. I think you are trying to run unported i9000 ROMs. i9000 roms only work if somebody reorients the kernel and modifies a few parts of the ROM.
Anyway, download mode on i9000 bootloaders (from powered off state) is Vol down + USB. Then... well what do you want to put on it? Stock i896 Gingerbread?
yeah id like stock i896 gingerbread. i have no problem going in to download mode.
ill try heimdall and get back to you guys.
usoimon this
so i tried with hiemdall and tried to find my phone is zadig but no luck.
i can go in to download mode no problem. do i possibly have to get the i9000 driver for my computer. and if yes which one in particular?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351224
Read through that again. The same driver package should work for i896,i897, i9000.
Try a different cable, and make sure to use the proper usb port.
ive tried all my usb ports, new usb wire, different computers. ive followed may walk troughs. uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of different driver packs.
phone goes in to download mode no problem every time. but both odin and heimdall don't recognize.
when the phone is powered up it goes in to usb mode and says connected but on the computer the usb doesn't see anything. no pop ups in the tray or anything.
id this a lost cause? am i missing something? im usually pretty good with this kind of stuff...
*update.
ive been reading all over the internet and have found that it may be a hardware issue. maybe happening randomly after i had installed the gingerbread.
is there a way that anyone would know of to update my firmware through wifi blue tooth or micro sd?
FIXXXXED!! woohoo
so i went to my brothers who sold me the phone and it worked immediately. i guess his computer remembered it. i dont know why nothing worked on my 3 computers with all the drivers and stuff that i tried. thank you for all the help.

[Q] No USB-Connection

Hi,
since a week or so i have the problem, that my phone doesn't recognize any connection!
I don't know what happened, but the phone gets energy... (No loading animation and on the lockscreen is still "please connect charger")
So I can't use it on my PC.
I installed the drivers on several different ways on two computers. On the one it should actually work, because it did before.
And i tested different USB-Cables.
Have you changed rom? update to ics? It's typical situation after changing rom from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 without flashinng new ics baseband.
If you didn't change rom it could be hardware related.
maybe give some more details...

oh yes, maybe i did. but i changed from official cm10 to nemesis#1. I recognized the problem there. But maybe before too? Yes, because I think i had to download the rom to a different computer with a sd-cardreader. I remember putting the rom onto the sd-card.
But what should I do with the baseband? Am I able to reflash it now?
Thank you!

Yes, you can reflash it
in N00BYs thread, there are basebands in the bottom of this post and there is link to procedure how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35429100&postcount=2
good luck
thank you!
but can i connect it to the pc? because for example for data transfer i cant...
well... am I able to flash it now on JellyBam or do I have to reflash ICS first?
In my case, after changing baseband, everything works well... includind conecting with pc.
It's no so good that data transfer don't work for you
I don't know if JellyBam is compatible with baseband which you have now, but i think there shouldn't be any problems. You should try. If usb data will work with jellybam, then you know that it was rom related.
edit: one more thing that is weird in 4.0.4: when you connect OB to pc as mass storage, and turn off mass storage in phone (charging only), SDcard will be unavailable, until you pull the cable out. But everything works well, when you use "safe remove usb device" from system.
