Basically, I want to wipe my phone and get it clean and free as I possibly can. I've noticed some major lag issues and I've decided to clean it up before flashing a new ROM. I want to get it as squeaky clean as possible.
Would a factory reset clear all the data and what not on the phone and the internal SD or would I have to use Odin Master Wipe? Should I revert back to stock before doing either option?
I've backed up all my apps through Titanium Backup and saved a copy unto my computer, is there any other data I should save before doing this?
I've just been looking at some much information I've gone and confused myself so I wanted to check before I continued and ruin my phone or something.
Thank you for your help. :3
Go here ... Stock i897ucKK4 . Flash one with the gb bootloaders if u don't have them already installed. This will get u to the full kk4 firmware. These KK4 one clicks in this link are full wipe. They will wipe data, dbdata and cache. --- Just like starting over with a new phone, except these one clicks do not touch the internal sd. So if u want to get rid of that stuff, u can connect to ur pc and select and delete what u want to or use that Master Clear that u mentioned or format it from the settings of ur phone.
Be sure to save ur contacts, apps, texts, etc. somewhere...

Hi Folks,
I am not new to this forum and i successfully flashed and tested out several custom ROMs. And yes, I know, I am still a Noob
But I have a weird problem now...
It doesn't matter which ROM I flash, my device won't get wiped. Well yes, I messed up my Nandroid backups, but:
I tried several kernels, ROMs and bootloaders. Even with the ones from samfirmware.com.
I tried it via Recovery and via the Android settings. And I've got all these old folders and files which don't get deleted when you uninstall an app. I'd really like to have a clean phone.
I know, it's a luxury problem, but it is very annoying.
So, could anyone please point me to some direction?
Thanks in Advance!
Cheers, berkley

Exact!!!
Well wipe does not wipe everything. I think to do what you are asking you need to format the internal SD card right after or maybe before a flash. That won't do the system stuff (I believe) but just the user area. The apks should recreate what they need afterwards.
But I haven't done it for a long time so don't trust me 100%. But that should do it and if you are flashing after it should clean it all up even if something useful got lost.

Use sd card maid to find legacy folders and for general clean up, amazing app

All data will be wiped if you flash with Odin with PIT-file and 'Re-partition' ticked.
Sent from hell to take your soul
could also try using the format internal SD card from the phones menu.
Does that mean that even a full reset doesn't wipe everything?
Full reset as done via punching in *2767*3855# on the dialer.
Hi Guys,
thanks for your nice words and help. I really don't know what was wrong. And I really don't know, what has fixed it!!! But now everything is working again. Thanks a ton!!!

From what you posted , i gather that you where having booloops after a restore, this is common, so the fix most times are to flash the kernel.

is that boot loop? because it only stucked in that logo. if i tried to charge it, only the loading "little circle" yes, i already know the process on how to fix that . just flash a kernel again,. so restoring may cause bootloop? like how many %?
After you change ROMs you dont restore your CWM back-up.CWM is a back-up just incase something goes wrong. What it does is makes a copy of the ROM settings your phone was on before the flash so if something goes wrong you can get your phone back atleast. To flash a ROM and then restore CWM over top you will end up with your old ROM again. If you only back-up certain things then you are trying to restore certain apps that have settings from your old ROM that probably are not compatable with the new one. Before a flash make a complete CWM back-up just incase something goes wrong but also make one with Titaniun of all your app, contacts and what ever. When all is good and done replace with Titanium and thats it but dont restore your CWM back-up cos your restoring your old ROM again.

aww.. didn't know that, well after that boot loop problem, then i flashed XXJVS 2.3.5 kernel, and the rom was gone, it's just gone back for a new phone but 2.3.5 though. so the titanium back up is the best app to restore game app+additional data, contacts and other apps? because now i installed some gameloft games, and they requires 500mb+ additional data(depends on game) that's too lot to download again, our connection is just not that fast for it. i download the additional data for like 6hrs (612mb).
sweet. No worries. There are 2 titanium apps on the market.A paid and a free one.For what you want id get the free one as i dont think you need the advanced settings the pro version has.Titanium backs up whatever app you want with or without data so in your case you can save your games and data aswell and flash new ROMs and wont loose anything. It also links them back to the market again incase of updates.Need to be rooted thought.Do a CWM back-up just in case.flash your ROM and dont forget dalvik cache and cache partion wipes before rebooting.Root your phone reinstall titanium, load your google account and then reinstall with titanium. It installs all at once so you dont have to do one at a time.Good app to have.If something ever did go wrong with the flash and your phone was left semi-bummed or whatever and you didnt know what to do or couldnt fix it then you boot to recovery and restore your CWM back-up to get your phone back to the way it was before the flash.that is what its there for.Its a saftey net.

I've run the LSA firmware with little to no issues for a while now, but recently my phones decided to run hot and reboot itself with increasing frequency.
so I'de like to revert back to stock ICS and see if that helps or if I'm looking at a hardware failure.
is there any particular trick to this or can I just backup using Ti, load the new (old) ICS firmware in Odin and flash away?
thanks for any advice guys...

Good. My suggestion is, go through drketan threads / tutorials which are comprehensive on your problem.

on the problem or my intended solution?
I've started uninstalling apps because the thing reboots during backup.
every-time i uninstall an app it reboots as well.
If you want to go back to ics, backup whatever you want using tb.
Then boot into recovery. Format/system, data, cache, preload.
Then go to advanced and choose reboot download. Then connect to pc and flash using odin. Make sure not to wipe while on stock ics kernel. Install a safe kernel ASAP.

Hi, all.
While installing again my common apps on my just upgraded to official JB Note don't let me install an app because (it says) not enough space!!
I'm plenty of space!. WTF??
Any one else with this problem? I can swear I have enough space, for this app and for many others!

I went from a clean install. Doing all people tells to avoid such a kind of troubles.
I've done all wipes, all clear data, all clear dalvik. I really don't know what else do from here so I went here searching for some help. You can't help, that's ok. Maybe other could.
But, hey... thanks for nothing, dude.
Are you using Lucky Patcher? If yes the solution is simple.
Open Lucky Patcher
Select Troubleshooting from options.
Select remove fixes and backups (insufficient storage available)
Reboot (optional)
All should be okay.
Hi.
I first want to give you thanks for your support.
Finally problem was gone. I can't tell you how. I can't say what of the "n" wipes I had done has fixed my troubles.
My problem was /data partition was almost full. Why? I don't know. Before flash I have done all possible wipes: data + cache, cache, dalvik-cache, wipe for install a new ROM on philz's kernel recovery. Even I formated sd card from pc...
That's why I was confused. Once flashed /data partition was almost fully populated with a bunch of weird folders, even just flashed and with no apps installed yet.
Like I said, now problem has gone. Why it cames and why it goes? Just don't know. But, hey, I'm just a noob.
Thanks for your suggestions and your support. Great community.
Regards.
Hi. I'm having a really big problem and a hard time trying to get my phone back to how it was. I was able to do a backup with CWM rom manager before i flashed to CM9. The reason why i want to go back to the ROM that came with my phone is because i'm not able to mount my SD card. I tried it in the recovery reboot menu. I mounted everything, then when it reboots, i go into settings and try to mount both the external SD and the internal SD card, The external one mounts, but i still can't see anything from it. And the internal never mounts.
So i did use the back up utility, and now when i go to restore, It says that the MD5 checksum aren't matching up or something. I'm also scared because it says that the battery is not charging. I've turned the phone off and am letting it charge now to see if it'll charge. But it was down to 11%, And i'm starting to get scared cause i might be without a phone. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
How can i wipe CM9 and go back to the ROM that came with my samsung 4g exhibit II when i got it? this is what it was before;
exhibit ii 4g
sgh-t679
android 2.3.6
kernel 2.6.35.7-perf (I didn't upgrade this)
build #: gingerbread uvle1
P.S. After i rooted it and flashed it into the root_kit. I then flashed it into "cm-9-20121125-UNOFFICIAL-ancora_tmo". So this is the rom that's giving me the problem. I really hope someone understands what's going on and can help me. I just want to go back to how it was before. And 1 more thing. I can only browse the sd card through wondershare mobilego for android. All my files are still there, But i can't see them on the phone, Just through USB connection.
Thank you so much
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Go into cwm wipe system 3 times dalvic cache and so on, then restore, or you can just do a clean install of the ROM you wish.

Oh wait, Something good happened. I read somewhere else that i might have to format the internal sd card. I just did that and now i'm able to see my external sd card. all my music and pics are here. Hmmm, weird... now i'm going to try and backup the texts and logs that i saved from mobilego. but i still might want to go back to the factory rom because the screen was bigger.
I just can't flash the gapps .zip file. It says that it can't open and then it just says (bad). So i can't connect my google account to my droid as it stands.
Download gapps again. And flash, Do not restore system apps, only do user apps

I upgraded to CM10. Now the gps doesn't work. also the usb connection doesn't work so i can't load the cm9 i don't think. If i wipe the ROM, will that load it back to the factory one? or will it make my phone useless?
Update: Ok, I'm able to connect via wifi with Mobilego. Should i upload root-stock.zip and flash that so it can go back to gingerbread (or whatever the ROM is called that is the basic one that was on before i changed?)
Update 2: I'm just having a problem with GPS. in google maps (a program i do use a lot), Is not able to get my current location. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem from CM10

Ok look, a general rule of thumb whenever you are installing a new rom, do a full Rom wipe = Factory Reset. Then flash your new rom. Then proceed to install the necessary Gapps. Then clear cache and dalvik cache. Then fix permissions. Then your set. The only time you can install a rom over another rom is if its an update, from the exact same rom and same os.
Soooo happy with CM10

I This I clear the cache, dalvik cache (and maybe even data). I wiped everything in that menu except ROM and system. It was my first time working with this. I did it in less then a week of lightly reading about it. I'll make sure to remember that man.
Thanks

P.S. I LOVE CM10. This ROM is just phenomenal. I couldn't believe my eyes when i went from Android 2.3.6 to Android 4.1.2. This site has helped me a lot. Please are very friendly and i appreciate that a lot.
Thanks once again, this site is very helpful.
