I've tried all of the other fix its to get my Galaxy Tab to work. I've tried charging for 12 hrs via wall charger (no response)... I've tried holding the power button plus home key while tapping on the screen at the same time for over 2 minutes (no response) ... I've even tried putting it into download or recovery mode by holding the power button plus the volume key (up or down) for over 2 or minutes (no response) ...
If you're like me and thought the manufacturer was your only option left, there is one thing left you can try.
All I did was remove the shell and unplugged the battery for 30 mins, plugged it back up and viola!!! I have the battery charging icon. And it now boots perfectly into the OS.
Its worth a shot.... here's a video I watched to learn how to remove the shell.

Note: you will need a tri-wing screw driver to remove the first two screws. I didn't have one and just used a precision flat head screw driver and it worked like a charm if using enough down force so you won't strip the screw.
Hope this helps someone...
Battery removal resets almost everything -- I'm grateful for your confirmation that it works on the Tab, and also for your links to the hammerless teardown.

good find
not had the problem myself, but that info is now in my brain for whenever I do have a problem
Good. Thx man!!!
Many thanks man, this saved my (tablets) life. Switched off my tablet last night after charging, for the first time in weeks, just to refresh everything. Tried switching back on this morning and nothing. I've spent all day trying to find out what the hell was wrong and tried all the various button solutions others have mentioned. Nothing worked. came across your info and links and thought I'd give it a try as I had nothing left to lose, tablet was dead. Voila!...back up and running again. I won't be switching it off again in a hurry. Once again great info and much appreciated.
Nice info, really helpfull, my friend gtab p1000 have some problem, wont turn on, and i found this thread, i just try once, and amazing its working, i hit thanks to you
My have turn off and dont turn on, i wiated 2 days and plugged in wall charger, and they work again.
dead tab
still got no luck...i'm tried of your skill yesterterday n my tab still won't turn on...
thanks for the advice
hai, i saw your posting and thank god it really helpful. i own a p1010 and some how it cant turn on twice!. what ever i do, and what ever tricks available in the internet i had tried it all, all with no success. so the first time around i had to sent it for repair and because my tab's warrant had already ended i had to fork out a lot just to make it running. the repair shop just stated that the battery and the touch screen need to be replace. how stupid of me to fall for that. after that my tab is usable again. then it happend again. two days later the same problem occurred. now i know it is not the hardware but the software that causeing all this headache.
now, with your posting, i opened my tab, disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and walla my tab is ok again. phew...save me a lot of money.
i see that the problem might be in the software. i see that alot of p1010 owners face the same problem here after upgrading from froyo to GB. and i notice that the blank screen syndrome would happen if we put it in a standby mode (my standby mode would be you touch the power button once just to make the screen goes blank).
just my 2cents.

Hi, I got same problem with you guys with my P6800. Tried all those methods (execpt those removing the casing/battery). I followed one tip and it works. Press and hold the power button for 20 second and release it. The screen displayed an image (icon?) of battery and clock. Some said it also work by pressing the button for 10 second.
thanks for the advice guys
holding the power button works
but my question is why is this happening?it wasnt happening before?

guys
does no one know whats causing this? is it a firmware issue? or battery?
for me, this happens every time I use the Netflix app. if I don't go into task manager and clear memory after every use of Netflix, my galaxy tab will not turn back on. sometimes fully charging it will wake up the screen, but that's not helping today so I guess I need to remove the shell even though I don't want to. I miss pocket PC's with soft reset buttons!!!

I had an HD7 that was working. I sold it on ebay and the buyer told me it wasn't working when he received it. He shipped it back and it was broken.
So... now I'm looking to either fix it or sell it to somebody. The phone itself is perfect condition with no scratches. Even has a screen protector.
The issue is that it won't boot up. When you turn it on it just keeps restarting and never gets to the home screen.
I would like to sell it for $150 but if there is a simple fix to the problem I'm willing to try it. I don't know anything about WP7 and I've never done any modding, hacking or whatever it's called.
Any help is much appreciated!
You try a restore?
Plug it in see what happens?
Try this,
Turn the phone off. You might have to pull the battery for a minute.
While holding down both of the volume buttons (up and down) press the power button momemtarily. Continue to to hold the volume buttons until the factory reset screen appears.
Follow the onscreen instructions and you are all set.
Thanks!
That fixed it! Thanks so much for the quick reply. I was about to throw the phone on eBay for $10.
Glad I can help!
Maybe not...
I thought it was fixed. It turns on and I can use it but the battery won't charge. I left it plugged in all night and the battery was still barely charged in the morning. It could be a battery issue but the phone also does weird stuff like rebooting every few minutes while the phone is plugged in to charge.
Did you get that fixed?

Maybe it's on but it's just having a kernel panic. Try holding the power button for about 20 seconds then try turning it on.

Certainly start by leaving it on the Google charger overnight. May take that long to charge up.
Also, hold the power button in for 30 seconds.
Purchased mail order? In-store exchange is the one advantage to purchasing local.
super strange a really long power button press got it on. i feel dumb now. about the local purchase, its a nexus 7 3g, if you can find one locally you are a lucky man
edit: if someone wants to close this, or tell me how i can marked as "answered" i got what i needed. i suppose some other noob might have the same problem thou

Go to Edit/Delete post, then click on "Go Advanced" in the field above. You should be able to edit the title from there.
PS, where are you and what store did you manage to snag the 3G N7 at?

i bought it off the play store like everyone else, that user commented about local purchase advantages, you are only currently able to buy off the website, sorry for the confusion
Hi everyone
I hope you can assist.
I have a stock HTC One X that I have been thinking of installing a custom ROM on but never got around to it.
Two days ago, after I had it plugged into a car charger, it started to act strangely. It would take really long to wake from hibernate. Then after a while the screen would go blank, though the LED on top would still blink. After leaving it charging overnight, it then stopped restarting all together. Now it won't restart even after a hard reset.
When I plug it in via USB, it is detected and I can view the contents of my phone via my computer.
It still will not restart. When I hold down the power key, the three buttons at the bottom flash, the phone vibrates but does not restart.
I can't seem to get into the boot loader either. The screen does not come on, holding down the power and the volume down key does not give me the bootloader menu.
At the moment, my thoughts are:
1. It is possible a hardware problem and the screen is faulty?
2. It is a software problem and re-installing either stock or a custom ROM will fix it.
Please let me know what you think and how best to resolve this.
If I send this to my carrier, I have to wait 4-6 weeks for resolution.
Thanks
Phil

I am not sure. Is there any way to check this?
At the moment, the phone is plugged in, LED is green (I think indicating it is fully charged), bottom 3 buttons are lit.
Other than that, when I hold down the power key, the bottom three lights blink, but no other response.
When I installed ADB and checked using ADB devices, it reported seeing a device.
Right now, when I press the power button, the bottom three lights switch on and off, almost like its waking up. Seems like this could be a screen issue. But I am not sure.
Ur screens dead bro. If the lights on the bottom are on then the phone is awake but since u for no display then either ur LCD died or the connector loosend. Btw ur in the wrong forum this is the HTC ONE u got the ONE X

lol - Looks like did plonk this in the wrong place!
Apologies.
Ok, I have a HTC One from new, only a few months old. 4 days ago I rooted my device and flashed with Android Revolution HD, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) - latest official HTC One 3.57.401.500 (WWE) firmware (3x.x series). Everything has been working like a dream, perfect.
Last night I was listening to some music via Google Play when everything stopped and went blank, I pressed the power button and the bottom buttons flashed 4 times (reboot?). The battery at the time was at 70% +
No matter what I try now, power + up volume, power + down volume, power + both volume, just power will not get my device to boot. I am currently leaving it plugged into the mains to see what happens but there is no LED light on.
Can anyone out there help me besides saying send it back for repair
Many thanks in advance
One thing to add. When I plug the phone into the PC via USB, I can press power and up or down volume and can hear the connect and disconnect sounds happening with my HTC One but still no power or sign of life. Anything going on I can't see?

Good. Now just keep holding the power+vol down till the buttons below the screen flash, then plug it into your pc whole holding the combo, and keep trying till your phone boots up
In the bootloader

Going through exactly the same thing here. Phone was working just fine, had stock Android 4.3 installed after rooting with CWM and now the only response I get from it is when I hold down volume down and the power button I get the USB unplug/plug unknown device sounds on the PC.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

So now if you hold the phone power+vol down buttons the lights don't flash? Try holding them for longer, also try holding a flashlight to the light sensor while holding the button combination..

I got the same problem yesterday
my htc one is flashed with google edition 3.4 for few months ,suddenly it is black and no charging light nor response to any combination of power plus volume
I put for few hours on charging no any response
when plugging it the desktop in device manager just feel like something is attached to pc (do just like(refresh)
I've just read about how this problem could've happened because of using 3rd party chargers with a higher voltage/ampere rating.. Is that true?

I've been using Samsung and Nokia chargers every now and then. But it seems stupid something like that would be enough to toast a phone. Don't phone components have surge protectors?

It's just weird. I've taken great care of the phone and it bricked for no decent reason. It wasn't charging or anything. It was simply on the top of a table, in the shade. Whenever I plug it into the computer, I get the QHSUSB_DLOAD unrecognized device, which is also weird. If the motherboard is fried, it shouldn't be recognized at all, right?

It will actually get recognized.. But this unfortunately is a hard brick.. Looks like this is the mode in which Qualcomm/HTC inserts initial codes into the phone to make it work.. Like maybe it programs the bootloader at this stage?

I'm downloading the RUU as a hail mary, but I'm not very hopeful. Worst part is that I live in Brazil and have a device from Australia. It's going to be a HUGE amount of trouble to get it replaced, apart from all the stuff I had on it.

You need to be able to boot up at least in fastboot mode to flash an RUU.. I tried when my phone died.. 99% it won't work. Getting a replacement is all you can do.. Unless you find somebody in your area with a jtag box and a good level of expertise/experience.

Yeah, some places have the JTAG box around here, but they don't work with HTC One, since the device didn't officially come to Brazil. I guess I'll have to figure out how to get my phone to Australia and then back again.

Try these steps to boot:
Hold your HTC One's light sensor below BRIGHT light then try some combinations with volume down and powerbutton until it boots... If it doesn't tell me

My phone just did the same thing. Tried to turn it on and nothing Plugged in the charger and no light.

Hold down the volume up key and the power key for days, it finally turned on. Battery had 80% charge. Powers up and charges now. Let me know if it works for you.
