Hello
When i remove the ac charger from the wall my screen goes black, the phone will still working, i can hear sounds and etc...
the weird part, is that if i remove the usb part 1st before the wall, i don't get this black screen.
i usually remove the battery and restart to get the screen back on.
When i upgraded to ICS , i still face the same issue, but instead of removing the battery, i can just re-plug it into the wall and i get the screen light back on!!!
i think it is some screen hardware fault
any help?

Opened bike race when the screen froze while opening the game (dark screen).
Pulled the battery but when I boot the screen goes on after 3 secs, stays on for 2 secs then goes into dim mode (i can see it's still on).
However my phone doesn't boot since I don't get any whatsapp messages. Normally it should boot to SIM screen but other apps should run.
X+power or M+power doesn't change much.
I'm guessing mobo/cpu fail.... any ideas?
:crying:
edit: It turns on when I put in the charger without battery! Dead battery?
If you put the battery flat on a table does in spin well. Batteries bulge when they are done. The better the spin the worse it is. It's odd the behaviour that can happen with a end of life battery

Well now I'm not so sure what it is.
When I put the cable in without battery the M logo appeared and then the charge screen with a ? in the battery (because there was none)
Then I put the battery in and it started charging.
After a while I tried to turn it on but same problem - just a black screen when power it, no logo whatsoever.
Now I can't get it to work without battery either...
edit: I don't think it can be the battery, because the screen stays on (it has power apparently) and it doens't work with cable connected either
But I also don't see it being the screen as it never vibrates like it does when you boot it.
How did it just show the charge screen before and now it doesn't??
I made a vid of what happens when I power it:

The Droid 3 and Bionic are similar phones, and it turns out that the Bionic will not boot up without a battery - it will hang at the Moto logo even if plugged in. See this thread at androidforums.com: http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...via-adb-unable-boot-up-phone.html#post5463741
So, it may be that you just need a good battery pack in order to get to Recovery/Bootloader/Fastboot etc. if the phone will not start or start to Safestrap.

Ye, except my phone doesn't even show the motorola logo, and I can't even get to the bootloader menu
edit: and it doesn't explain why I was able to get to the charge screen without battery at first, but not now
Right now I'm having the same problem, I could enter safetrap for now (after 10 attempts)

The worst part is using my Samsung Jet "Smarter than a smartphone". Which isn't even close to a smartphone because it doesn't have any of the OSes = no apps
In my XT860 in its power when it reaches the lockscreen, restarts or shuts.
When I put it to charge my battery shows 0% and charging. When I go to Safestrap-after several attempts-, battery shows 99% or sometimes 80%.
I think the cpu wants to leave the world of technology :crying:
edit: yeah, now i get infinite bootloops in the M DualCore LOL

I tried the stock cable that came with my phone (USB) but nothing happens. Screen doesn't even go on.
The light next to the microUSB does go on.
But my phone has never booted with USB (0.5A). When my battery was 0% I always needed a socket charger because it wouldn't go on and charge with USB
When I then insert battery and try again with stock cable same happens as in the video

Ah I see. Well I'm not in the US so getting one would be a PITA
I'm gonna try my spare battery (original battery) tomorrow. It that doesn't work it must be hardware related because I haven't flashed or done anything to it so it's not softbricked or something.
edit: it team blackhat do send to europe? How would this be different from trying another (working) battery?
Try cutting a USB cable open, hook the red wire to the + of the battery and - to the black and let it charge that way. Also, do you have any MicroUSB charger? I have one for a BB Bold I used to have that delivers I think 1.25A and it could charge my phone from dead (obviously not now with the flex cable having a rip in it).

The little light next to the USB port is the 'It's still alive" light that Moto put in when the battery is completely dead. It's to let you know that the phone *is* charging, just not high enough to boot the phone (i.e. when you let the battery completely die).
WHY they did not make it a standard charging light (like the D1 and D2) I don't know, but that's the only time it comes on. A quick flicker on USB plugin, or when the battery is dead. The light goes out when it gets enough power to boot up.

Well, it's not charging because there's no battery , the light it still on
I really dont see how its the battery because when I put it in without cable the screen turns on and stays on for as long as I keep the battery in. So it HAS power. Today I'm getting my spare battery and we'll see I guess..... don't have my hopes up
My daughters D3 was doing the same thing,me being not ready to dig into a phone yet ,took to a local repair shop, they checked it out and found it had a bad LCD,should get back Friday, sorry for the bad news, just thought you would like some insight.

Thanks. But should it turn on when the LCD is bad? It doesn't even boot else It would vibrate once.
Can anyone confirm that the phone should boot when I remove the LCD alltogether? Else it might be a bad LCD or loose connector

You might wanna try another usb cable or another charger. Just in case one of them is broken. I had that a while ago and discovered that it was my cable. Good luck,
I sometimes have the same issue. I wake up in the morning just to find out that my HTC one hasn't charged although the charger is connected and the led is red.
Try this:
Try resetting the charging mode like this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal.
re
sry guzzz ....nothing is working ...only red blinking light and after sometime a fade light battery icon comes n light becomes solid but it don't turn on thn......and after sometime blinking start again.....
Actually you phone's battery went down to the lowest level. You need to charge it for more than 4hrs.
When my ph switches off due to low battery and stays off for long time, then when i plugs charger, red led starts blinking for some time. After that it goes solid

So, do 1 thing. Take a transparent plastic box and pour rice in it and put ur phone in that box in that way so that your phone is covered by rice from all sides. Close the box from the top tightly.
Stay the phone in it for overnight. Next morning, take out your phone and plug the charger and check.
Actually, i read on gsmarena that water damaged phone can easily restore with the help of rice because rice soaks the water from phone.

Or put Rice in a plastic bag with Phone and seal the bag works too

Here's how I fixed my phone with the same issue after I left mine outside in the rain. I tried this:
No luck here. So finally I did this.
1. Took back cover off very carefully.
2. Unscrew battery screws from motherboard. There's only 2
3.. cleaned all connectors from battery.
4. Screwed it back together.
Now my battery charges correctly.
Recalibrated battery. So far all is good.

The power button broke on my Note 3, i reassemble the phone hopping to fix the problem, i found out the small dome shape piece of metal is out of its place and there is no way to put it back, also there is a tiny piece of clear reddish plastic to cover that metal dome, i found the whole circuit in amazon and i ordered one.
i closed the phone back after connecting all connectors back, i did that very carefully.
when i connect the charger (the phone is off) a gray battery icon shows for a couple of seconds then the phone screen become bright white for few seconds then turned off, the charging LED indicator is off. usually the battery icon changes to green with 5 green dots underneath it indicating the phone is charging.
if i disconnect the charging cable and put it back nothing happened, if i disconnect and connect the battery then plug the charger, the gray icon an white screen scenario above happened again.
I remove the battery overnight and tried it this morning, i got the same behavior again.
any help is really appreciated.
Phone: unlock ATT note 3 with custom ROM.
WOW, am I the only lucky one with this problem???
I found out that the battery is really charging, but neither led nor the screen are indicating anything, I figured it out when i noticed the battery is worm,
Also i was able to manage to boot my device by connecting the charger while pressing the Volume down and home button, i was able to go to download mode then restart the phone using volume up.
the phone is charging fine when it is on.
Not sure about the main issue if it caused by the Power button or something else.
Update:
I have a bad ROM causing too many problem, I flashed to NC2 4.4.2 and every thing is working, no wonder why nobody has this issue.
Thanks,
The audio jack broke so I sent it for warranty repair to get replaced, which they did. I got the phone back yesterday, couldn't boot it up, completely dead. Stuck it in the charger, red led, low battery charging icon goes on. Few seconds later it goes all dark, then shows the red light and the battery icon again and repeats forever. It sat like that for the past 20 hours with no change. I tried the volume up power button combo, nothing. I pressed the yellow button next to SIM card and 3 vibrates (only worked when it was connected to the charger), then we're back to the same red light charging icon deal. This time I could take the charger off and the low battery icon would display afterwards too, though. After that the volume up power button combo worked and 3 vibrates but the same red light battery icon thing persists.
Tried connecting it to a PC as well, before the resetting business it did absolutely nothing. After, windows says the phone has been connected, the phone displays green light for a fraction of a second, then changes red and it's just dark after that. PC Companion does not recognize the phone.
Do I just send it right back for another repair or what?
What was the point of the repair? :|

Yes, I would say so. I had a "sudden death" problem with mine not long ago. Sent it to Sony and they replaced the battery.
Same thing happened to mine, change the battery would fix this?

Yes
Do we have a more comprehensive thread on this "sudden death" / wont boot / wont charge issue?
I've added some notes / questions on page 34 of the help thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/sony-xperia-z3-help-thread-t3164306/page34
NB will charge if you first remove and externally charge the battery
Then with Z3 on charge, connect the battery, will get orange or green led and charging led display. But still wont boot
I've replace my battery, volume keys ( board), charge port, front chassis with screen/digitizer and back chassis. At first the battery charge icon come on but then powers onto a htc one screen and reboots. It came on but battery was dead then i got it to work by rebooting from fastboot/bootloader and it worked but when i turned it off to charge it kept rebooting? i hope the parts are not incompatible they did cost a lot. I cant get into recovery so i'm wondering if i should reflash it?

When the phone is off and you connect a charger does it come on and attempts to boot or goes to the charging screen?

yes, charging is stuck and actually found the problem if i take out the flex ribbon it will charge but i can't turn on obviously cos power button will be disconnected but then if i connect it while charging and power on it works. That means something wrong with the daughter board, the supplier must have given me a wrong version than the original which is why it cannot communicate... thanks for replying.
No problem man.
