Hello.
The phone is Samsung GalaxyS i9000.
I have installed cm10 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778526
and i got bootloop, so I can start os or start cmw (volume up+home+power), only download mode works fine.
I tried to reinstall CMW from this link: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager , but there is "..../recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-galaxys.zip" and Odin does not work with "zip" files, only "tar" for recovery.
Sorry for my english.
Regards.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to play with a couple ROMS, starting with the Darky 7.7 ROM from stock Froyo 2.2 on a Galaxy S i9000.
I've done the following:
1) Rooted the phone using SuperOneClick (proven to be rooted with ROM Manager).
2) Transfered the Darkys ROM.zip to the internal SD Card
3) Downloaded and copied ClockworkMod from the original post (file is update.zip) and transferred this to my internal SD Card
4) Gone into ROM Manager, selected Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery
5) Select Install ROM from SD card
6) Selected Darkys_V7.7_Gingerbread_.....zip
7) Prompted with Backup Existing, or Wipe Data and Cache. I chose Wipe. It tells me I will be brought into recovery to continue.
8) Chose apply sdcard:update.zip
Receive the following error:
Install default apk-files, finished
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifiying update package...
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Where have I gone wrong? Any help is appreciated
Go to recovery mode (power off then vol up+home+power). If you're already using clockworkmod, then select install zip from sd card. If you're not using cwm yet, select install update.zip to give you cwm then choose install zip in sdcard.

You need to install a kernel that has 2e recovery, this version doesn't verify file signatures, or go back to 2.1.
I see now when I enter recovery mode at the top it says Android Recovery 3e. I'm assuming that should say Clockworkmod Recovery.
It is the next step I'm stumped with
What is an example of a kernel that runs 2e? Flashing is done through ODIN correct? Can you help me figure out how to flash in ODIN, or where I can find a 2e kernel for my i9000?
Grab the latest speed mod kernel from hardcore in the dev section, flash that via odin and it will be 2e recovery. Then follow darkys instructions and flash his rom. After his rom is on depending on where you are you might have to flash your original stock modem but only do that if your phone doesn't register on your network.

I am having difficulties flashing via ODIN. Can you help me find some help, perhaps an ODIN guide of some kind?
I have found a UGJH2 kernel that should be 2e recovery, now I just need to learn to flash it.

ODIN is a program that flashes individual kernels, CSC's, modems and other bits to your phone. It's one of the methods used to flash ROMs also. If you search the forums (or even Google) you should be able to get everything together. I recommend searching for ODIN, the 512 pit file, and then following the instructions below to re-root your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8238938&postcount=1
Any problems you can PM me.

Okay. Then we can assume you hard bricked your device.
To confirm this (or not) please download a stock Rom (Dr. Ketan's thread or sammobile.com) - it's not so important what you choose, but should be for your country.
Install this Rom with PC Odin on your device.
And have a look at the messages: if it stops at factoryfs.img the it's bricked.

Download a different Rom, check MD5 and install it with PC Odin - you should make sure that you have condition that is exactly defined.
I will not answer or search for solutions if this isn't clear, sorry.

Oh I got it all mixed up! What I was trying to flash was the firmware, not the modem. But there isn't any XXBMG3 modem for download now. Sorry for the mixing up! But I need help with the kernel now.
Post does not make any sense .
Flash a modem and flash a kernel then wipe the modem and kernel by flashing a rom .
Hi,
May you give download link for XXBMG3?
Thx before.
Hello,
I've been stuck on this problem all the afternoon and evening.
Here it is : I got my mother's n7000 offered, which has never been flashed before. Today, I'd like to install CM10.1. I want to install CWM (PhilZ) in order to flash CM.
When I try to "apply update from sdcard" in the stock recovery (file: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT4-OXA-4.93-6-signed.zip) it tells me that E:signature verification failed.
And when I try to use Odin, to flash a PDA (.tar.md5), it get stuck on "NAND Write Start!!".
Concerning Odin, I found out it could be a problem that has to do with the phone partitioning and that I should flash a PIT file to resolve that problem. So I used Odin to 'flash' a PIT file. But still, this doesn't resolve the CWM installation problem...
Anyone has an idea on why is this happening and how could I get out of this mess?
Thanks in advance! Bye!
Up please, can anyone help ?
Thanks XDA community.

What worked for me back in the day was using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
An older version from here, for example << 03.06.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery >>
Then once that is installed, reboot to recovery again and install the new "advanced version"
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7000/ (4.84.3 ZIP)
Then restart and you should be able to flash the one you wanted.
Also, try using older ODIN version, I think I use 1.87 or something like that, definitely not 3+.
Thank you for your help, I succeeded installing Philz 5 via Odin 1.85, then updating to CWM (KitKat compatible), then installing NightOwl (Android 5.1.x with CM12) Beta4
Once again, thank you!
