thats bcz root explorer is unable to obtain root access, that can happen because of your phone is not rooted or you deny root explorer to access root
if your phone is rooted go to su and allow root explorer

no my phone is not rooted..but before this time root explorer works perfectly...there is no option comes of superuser that allow or deny..then i go to superuser and select allow option for all apps permission..

What are these directories I get in Astro when O press the up icon? I thought you could only access the SD directories. Stock 2.2 no root.
You can access root but you. Can't view the folders unless you use something like root explorer

I can enter and view any and all the folders. I have not tried to change anything and I do not intend to. I just wasn't aware you could access these without Root. I never could on the Milestone.
Im trying to use the old music player .apk that someone posted in this section. But everytime I go to paste it keeps giving me this stupid error that there isn't enough free space which is bs. Cause there is. How do I fix this? Im running phoenix

Are you rooted? You need to be rooted to write to the /system/app/.
Which file browser are you using? I don't use Phoenix, but I believe that the "My Files" app does not allow root access. SuperManager or Astro are good apps that both allow you to write to root folders.

Top right corner of root explorer has a mount r/w button. Use it and problem solved.
I have LPY running with the CF kernel which was flashed via mobile Odin. I have root access for programs like Titanium, but I cannot delete items from my system/apps folder. I use ES File Explorer with the options checked for root access and for rw on root. I figured it was just an issue with the kernel but I have been told that full root works for others. Does anybody have any thoughts as to how I could go about getting full root working? I want to delete that pesky GMS_Maps.apk so I can replace it with one with working navigation where I live. Thanks for any help!

Check the "Mounted as button" on top left of Root Explorer and make sure you can switch the system to R/W (read/Write)
It may default to Read/Only
I downloaded root explorer in case that was the issue. I click the rw button when I go into the system folder but no joy. When I press it, nothing happens. The state remains ro and the button remains rw.

Tried reinstalling cwm and su/busybox via cwm and still no dice. Thinking I might just have to live with it until another kernel comes out and I feel safer with all this installing zips in cwm. Still, if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know because it's a bit annoying to me.

It's not LPY, but I seem to have full root again after flashing the newest ics and installing su/busybox using the following:

If you enable write and can past a file into the system folder then you should be able to remove system apps. If you phone is connect to the PC even if you have root you might not be able to write or delete a file.

It seems that you don't have full root privileges. Use Root Explorer and try to paste a file into /system folder.
If you cannot do it, you don't have root. That's why your root apps cannot do their job.
I do have root privledges.
Whatekse can be the cause?

You can use rootexplorer to first make the system directory read/write then change the name of the system apps you don't want. I usually just remove the "."beween the apk name and apk... Then reboot...

I'd take a second look and make sure. I think you'll find that Chas was right.

I aslo have the same problem with RR V1 JB.
I can delete system apps with Root Explorer but not with TB.
What could be the reason for that?

Hi !
I've downloader "SU303.zip" that is the files to install SuperUser. I put this file in sdcard and access to CWM to install this.
Then install correctly, and when i go to reboot i fix root permissions in (/system/bin/su).
Reboot correctly but when i like to root an app..like es file explorer doesn't appears the notification to allow or deny permissions to grant superuser permissions.

Guys, are you serious? Or it's some kind of joke? Looking how to root CM? Just open developers settings and look into root settings.
