Flashed wrong file via Odin!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am in serious trouble and need urgent help!!
I own an international Galaxy GT I9000 and recently rooted and afterwards attempted to flash XXJW4 software on the phone. Upon trying this I realised that my model is one of the unlucky ones as you cannot enter download mode via the three-button combo, neither can you enter recovery. Since I have some experience with Android, I used adb commands to reboot the phone into download mode.
Here is where my problem lies...
I flashed the wrong file using Odin. Instead of flashing the JW4_JW4_JW4 file, I flashed a file named XXJW4_Root_AA.tar... Needless to say, this didn't go down well. The phone is in a boot loop now, rebooting at the Samsung logo (not the boot animation). ADB cannot find the device, neither can odin, and no one seems to be able to help... Is the final solution a a USB Jig? I am in South Africa, so finding one here is hell..
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you can't get into download mode, USB jig is your best bet.

Okay, I have been reading up on those but I can't seem to find any resistors in my area! Also, if I do manage to get download mode going, will this ensure that my PC will recognize the phone? Odin and my PC recognized the device just fine, but Kies was not functional (before the phone got bricked)

The jig will solve your problems at no time.It saved me!

Pull the battery, hold the button to download the mod and then plug the battery into the phone, I hit download.

I tried this but it did not work... I flashed the xxjw4 CF Root file over stock Eclair by mistake, is the stock Eclair still there and can it be considered a soft-brick? If so I would like to know which firmware I can flash to fix this. Is xxjw4 an option or must I flash XXJVU first? (I have downloaded both firmwares and their respective CF Root files) Thanks in advance

Just try this solutions may or may not work, but no harm in trying http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571

three best stock rom XXJVU file, but with pit 512 and re-partition on.

Just find the Galaxy S drivers from somewhere, my computer does this sometimes, have u got windows 7 running on your PC? sometimes my laptop with windows 7 cant find my device, but my one with Windows Vista always manages to find it, try a different PC first. Once you found the device just flash a full stock version, like XXJVT for example, something with the pit., CODE, CSC and Modem file

Odin does not reformat /data and /cache and /dbdata back to rfs, so the kernel cannot mount it, hence the bootloop. Just do a factory reset from stock recovery and your good to go

Okay thanks for the info... So because I am not able to do the three button fix do you recommend that I jig the phone, and flash the three button fix, after that enter recovery and do a wipe? No need to flash the new firmware? (Which I do plan to do but only after I can get the phone up and running again with the jig)

If you can't find the resistors, you can buy the jig off ebay for about 2 quid. I know it's expensive for a 1p resistor and a 1p case but how much is your phone worth to you
The jig will definitely sort it.

True. I am able to make one though as it's simple enough. The question is what do I do once I get into download mode? Three-button fix or the new firmware? Would XXJW4 be good or should I get the XXJVU firmware instead?? Don't want to make another NoOb mistake. I am pretty much golden when dealing with the Motorola stuff!!

Odin must flash over stock rom / pda, phone, csc / pit with 512 and re-partition, preferably back to your stock 2.3.4 region.potom cf root-root kernel version of your firmware., Semaphore kernel and stock rom jw4 , 5.6 ..
it helped me

Flash something safe like XXJVU. Do a full flash too. PIT, CSC, PHONE AND PDA. You'll be fine

[Q] Captivate Boot Loop after Odin one click

Hello all and thx in advance.
ATT Captivate batch 1010
I had Cognition 2.3 I think on my phone and it worked great however I wanted to try a different ROM so I attempted to restore my phone to stock using ODIN one click. I realized after that that I never disabled the voodoo lag fix or deleted my user data.
Now I am stuck in a boot loop that either shows the white ATT logo screen flashing every couple seconds or the phone off charge screen re starting every couple seconds.
I bought a USB Jig and it works great so I can get into D/L mode easily but I have tried flashing the stock firmware at least 6 times now using different machines, different ports, different versions of ODIN and I've searched around these forums and others for several hours trying to find a solution. It seems that I needed to erase my user data in recovery mode and removed the lag fix before I did this but it is what it is. I have tried to get to recovery mode to no avail. All I can get to is download mode.
Any ideas on what I should/can do?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

please help, i have the same problem, was flashing back to stock from a serendipit 5.12 so that i could get the 6.0 version... all went as planned until odin said "reset" which was my cue to unplug and that the process was complete.... i unplugged the phone and tried to reboot and now it does exactly as the first post described, at&t logo then black screen, then back to the at&t logo then black screen again... my computer doesnt recognize my phone none of the methods of getting to download screen will work... no matter how many times i pull the sd, sim, and batt, no matter the button combination i use or which order i use them in.... same result... i cant afford a new phone i need help, i will donate also... i knew this stuff was over my head, but "curiosity killed the cat" i guess...
I had the exact same problem. Try this method, it's the one that worked for me when all others failed... But remember to follow it EXACTLY.
1. Pull out the battery.
2. Hold Volume UP+DOWN (Don't let go of them until you see the download screen).
3. Stick in the USB (which is connected to the computer).
4. Put the battery back in.
If not, you might need to get a USB Jig.
That Froyo Odin link worked!
Thanks guys I flashed to Froyo and it worked!
I've since flashed clockwork recovery and gotten Serendipity 6.1
As far as getting into download mode I had to use one of the USB jigs.
I ordered one from the guy who does the rom reviews but you could make one as well.
On another note the new ROM seems to be discharging my battery really fast
Before I start investigating it as a problem I am going to charge it completely then let it discharge completely to calibrate it.
Thanks again guys
Rob
I just fixed mine last night, I had the exact same problem because of the exact same upgrade. What you need to do is get or make a usb jig. There's a couple resources around here for how to do it.
Here's a video showing how to make one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0
Once I got my phone into download mode, I used Darky's ROM Resurrection Edition ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940671 ) to restore my phone. Just scroll down to where it says "Files Needed" and download the Captivate version. Once you have that downloaded, use the jig to put your phone into download mode and follow the directions in the Darky's video (jump to about 2:30 into the video). Once I had my phone booting, I used clockwork to install Serendipity 6.
Hope that helps you as much as it helped me!!
went to radio shack, got all the stuff to make a jig and i was able to get my phone into download mode! now to try darko...... thanks everyone!
odin doesnt reconize phone
which odin3 are you using? 1.7? or the one click to stock?
you mentioned you had the bootloop problem before, so you should be using odin 1.7 with 2.2 stock.
open odin
get phone into download mode with your nice jig
unplug jig and plug in computer
box in odin should turn yellow.
And make sure you have the correct drivers installed. CRUCIAL.

If one-clicks aren't working, you might need to grab the full version of Heimdall or Odin and flash a full package. Some of the newer phone builds don't like one-clicks.

I am interested in rooting too, and I have gingerbread. I have 2 problems though, first, I do not have the 3button combo working. I thought the gingerbread update would fix it, but no luck, and the method I found here did not work. I hear that you should not try to root without the 3 button combo working, but what choice do I have, samsung update did not fix this bootloader problem. I cannot put my phone in download mode without having it plugged in and recognized by adb.
My 2nd problem is that I have a I9000T and it seems nobody has this phone around here so I have no way of knowing if some of the rooting options even work for my phoen and firmeware.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually have a i9000t, ive soft bricked a few times as long as you could get into download mode you should be ok, allways keep a stock rom around just incase to flash back to through odin.
Ive flashed a few modem with no problems, few roms with minimal problems..
Cm7 lost radio and weird pixle screen boot.
Deoxidized roms work good.
I had flashed Darkys 9.5 and everything worked till i noticed the stock music player gave me reboots.
I had tried flashing MIUI but no luck at all, could of been my zip. File was messed up but i tried a diffrent and still nothing. Now im on Darky 10.1 final no problems.
This has to be the most stable/fastest rom ive ever flashed.

Also, I keep reading those very old threads and I was wondering what the latest Odin version is used for 2.3.3.

I don't have a galaxy tab, but it should be similliar to my galaxy s. I think your device is NOT bricked. As long as you can get to download mode, your device is NOT bricked. If you can get there, you should try to flash with odin/heimdall again. I think you must have done something wrong in the flashing process. AFAIK the logo is displayed by bootloader (primary), so if nothing went wrong with flashing the secondary one (download mode), you should be able to flash again.

[Q] OH NO! Another noob bootloop thread :p

Hello fellow captivate users, I need some help here!
I've just brought a 'bricked' at&t captivate off of trademe here in NZ (it's like ebay) and I'm having a little trouble recovering it.
With the help of a homemade JIG I was able to force DOWNLOAD mode, and have tried using ODIN to flash various all-in-one firmwares. However, it seems no matter which I use the phone always ends up in some sort of bootloop, either with just the at&t logo looping, the at&t plus either a samsung s i897 or i9000 screen looping or just the samsung screen looping (depending on one-click used).
So far I've tried these oneclicks-
I897UCJF6 with bootloaders
I897UCKK4 with bootloaders
Plus various other packages that use odin to flash the different parts of the filesystem etc...
I've also used different ports and cables on the computer (although download mode and connection to pc do not SEEM to be a problem)
I'm sure I'm missing something here, but I'm also sure I'm following each firmwares instructions to the 'T'!
I've flashed other android devices in the past with no issues, is there something the samsung requires that I'm missing or messing up? (It's probably the latter )
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers XDA Gurus
I have had success using Heimdall when stuck in a boot loop before. It will change the drivers on your computer so you will have to deal with that (Odin won't recognize them) but this can be dealt with. Apex even has a Heimdall package that will put cwm on your computer.
ok well you HAVE gingerbread bootloaders... STOP FLASHING BOOTLOADERS. gingerbread bootloaders are good with any captivate rom. no need to flash again.
odin likes to lock up. if odin locks up durring bootloaders... well its the only REAL way to permanently brick a cappy... until you unbrick it..
do you need the jig? is the button combo not working? both volume + plug in usb to PC
if odin is seeing the phone (turning yellow) and "PASS" ing the flash(turning green) then you dont have usb port or cable problems.
but try this KK4 gingerbread heimdall package, with re-partitioning.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386924
heimdall is like odin but open source (more features and more stable), but it uses different drivers that it will install itself, but that usb port will be your heimdall port, all others will work with odin, unless you install the heimdall drivers on other ports too.
or...
try flashing a custom rom using the guide in my sig. it will quickly give you a custom kernel with cwm recovery, you can mount usb to pc from recovery menu, then transfer a rom to flash.
give that a shot...
Wow, quick replies guys, thanks.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot first. If no go I'll try using the cwm method from your sig. How does the sd need to be formated/partitioned for captivate - guess I'll just use a single fat32 parition to start.
To sum up, now that I've got stock GB bootloaders, I'll quit using oneclicks with bl's included. USB cables and ports are fine. I'll try the KK4 heimdall package that was linked, if still no go I'll flash a custom rom and use clockwork to install changes from then on.
Thanks again
I must be messing up - having trouble getting into recovery.
Here's what I did;
The links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386924 are dead, so I went straight to method 2.
Downloaded speedmod kernel from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=566807&d=1302623831
Used odin to flash (kernel selected under pda), this seems to have worked as I now have the samsung i897 screen show up after the at&t. BUT when I try to enter recovery via three button method I get nothing.
How long should I hold the 3 buttons down for? (How many bootloops?)
Should I let go of them at th at&t splash, the samsung s i897 splash or at the blank screen?
All of this was done after my last odin oneclick attempt (which was a KK4, re-part, bootloaders included flash from here on xda)
**edit
I've also tried using the heimdall package (i897-Speedmod-K13E-GBbootloaders-One-Click.jar) to install the kernel with no luck getting into recovery.
For button combo to get into recovery--release when u see 1st att screen.

Yep, no adb on bootloop. Still no joy getting into recovery - it's a stubborn wee device! Gona try some different kernels today.
Am I right that there's no kernels available that will boot straight to cwm without button combos? (I'm thinking my power button may be iffy coz I have no problems getting into download mode)

I've used adb during a loop plenty of times..on a couple devices.
My captivate, and my gf incredible.
Its pretty handy, you can push a framework-res you are messing with without having to make a zip, and if you broke it and it loops, you can push the original back, reboot and you're back in business

How exactly? adb doesn't see the captivate because it's only connected for a second before it reboots, adb just tells me device not found or something to that affect.
You have to hit enter at the Right moment, it takes practice
Lol, lucky I've got plenty of patience then!
Strangely if I 1-click back to stock eclair (maybe froyo not in front of PC at mo, and I know I shouldn't be messing with bootloaders but ehhh) I am able to get into what I assume is samsungs recovery mode, but I have to hold button combo for maybe 3 or 4 bootloops. Sticky button(s) maybe?
Am I able to use adb from there to get an update.zip to internal sdcard?
How come if the Odin oneclick seems to work I still end up in bootloops? Something not doing its job right? Partitions not working or kernel or system or bootloaders? Looking through adb shell the system looks intact-but still looping away!
Also am I right in assuming that because it gets to download mode it is eventually fixable?

Just an update - from the stock eclair recovery I'm unable to push to the internal SD, get a permission error. Unable to remount that either, comes back with a fairly generic remount not allowed error.
Looking through the forums most people seem to have trouble getting into download mode rather than recovery - doesn't seem any cwm kernel will let me into recovery. Phone is model 1007 if that helps.
Is it possible the internal SD is stuffed? Can't see why all oneclicks end in loop - shouldn't they be overwriting the entire internals?
Gona format a microSD from my tablet and see if that will help, should I leave it fat or use Ubuntu to ext4 it for stock Samsung?

If a Internal or External SD card is fried, then no amount of formatting and flashing will help it.
Is there any way to tell if the internal is cooked though? Odin and heimdall both seem happy to flash to the phone, but I've yet to find a package that doesn't end with a bootloop.
There must be some hardware issue though, seems unusual that aside from stock eclair I'm unable to enter recovery. According to the guy I got it from, it simply died while he attempted to update firmware, but the fact that I'm able to flash from download mode would suggest that's not the issue.
I guess there's no way to tell if hardware is cooked other than to send to samsung, is it common for people to get stuck with bootloops from stock flashes? Should I give up and see what samsung would charge to fix (if they will/can) or keep attempting different oneclicks (without bootloaders of course )
How about a non one click?
I've heard some peoples phones bootloop with one clicks, but work fine with .tar packages and the full Odin flashing utility.
Worth a shot. Got to wait a few days for my net to reset though, hit my limit for the month and it's painfully slooow - damn NZ's overpriced adsl!

Still not working unfortunately. Using packages with odin3 gets me the same results, bootloops and no access to recovery. I also downloaded the aio captivate package and used the heimdall that came with that to flash stock eclair, which ended with a kernel panic screen - though am able to access recovery. Recovery doesn't see my fat32 microsd though so unable to flash from there.
I don't know my adb shell commands well enough to try and mount or format internal sd and I get permission denied when trying to push update.zip to internal sd via adb.
Unless anyone has any other ideas I'm stumped for now.
When my internal sd got messed up from cognadaian bacon (ooooold dg ROM) i reformated it with my computer and it then let me Load another rom on it... don't remeber if fat 32 or not ....mabey someone else might know
Edit: mabey designgears remembers what fix it when cognadian bacon porked it

wrong firmware on i9000

I accidentally installed a capitvate i897 firmware (Android 2.3.4, AT&T branded) on my i9000. It looks like an US firmware, mine should be German.
Since installation of the new firmware I can't use the usb-connection anymore - some seconds after plugging the phone resets and stops working until I unplug the cable again. The 3-button-trick doesn't work anymore either, probably because the captivate hardware is quite different.
So... now I am desparately looking for any help or hints how I can get my phone rootet. I think that would help a lot to install a proper firmware again (via mobile odin).
Any hints?

You wouldn't really be going wrong by flashing back with Odin. I'd recommend flashing stock JW4 which is the latest European Gingerbread and rooting with the JW4 CF-ROOT.
I would have flashed already if I knew how to do it USB doesn't work, and entering recovery mode (if it is available, which I doubt) doesn't work either because I can't press the right buttons.

u need to download 3 file odin from here http://www.hotfile.com/dl/150483619/708026d/I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_XEU.zip.html
and u will need also odin program from here http://www.filecrop.com/Odin-1.85.html after u download the firmware extract it and open odin
then put code in pda box modem on phone box an csc on csc box after that push vol down+home+power for download mode conect your phone to the computer and wait for yellow light in the program after thet press start good. luck btw if its only one file firmware put it on pda only
and if download mode not work with 3 button comb try jig device
Thanks for your detailed answer. But the 3-button-combo doesn't work. My guess is that the phone expects the captivate combo (volume up + volume down + power) which isn't possible on an i9000 device.
A jig might be worth a try, though I am worried, because the phone crashes always as soon as it get's power via usb (phone-pc or phone-power suppy, in both cases the phone crashes).
Is it possible to root the phone via wifi or right on the phone via app or some weird linux command line stuff?
You could try z4root? I don't think it will work but worth a try

Yes, I think it's worth a try, to download a SGS Kernel and try the App "SGS Kernel Flasher" (Search in Playstore, can't post a link) Maybe it works! I think you won't be able to boot your system after that, but maybe you can use the 3 button combo after that.
But first you have to find a way to root the phone... i can't find a app for that atm, maybe someone else found one?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you get root working, you can safely use this to flash the right firmware for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
It's Odin on your mobile, so you can copy the files via an ftp or something like this and flash them to solve ur problem.
The other method I listed is a bit unsafe i think...
Actually, you can press Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time on a SGS. I tried it, because CM9 has the feature to change ringer mode this way.

Hello, More or less had the same problem.
To tell you the history: updated my samsung galaxy S I9000 to ICS, was not happy with it and f*cked up after that.
Wanted to install older firmware over ICS, telephone dead and than came on this forum and used
stockrom of I896 from developer TRusselo : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133
now phone thinks he is a canadian I896.... Tried the above steps on PDA... unpacked ok but now phone keeps rebooting after it shows the samsunglogo....
did i miss a final step or did i do something wrong?
Thanks for your help in advance...
@calumn96: I tried z4root, it doesn't work..
@coroner21: wow! I always thought the both volume buttons would exclude each other. Now I can enter CWM.
Is there a way to root the i9000 in CWM? Or even better, to install a stock i9000 firmware?
Current situation: i897-firmware (2.3.4 uckh3) - I guess I need a root patch for this firmware.

If you get a rooted i879 kernal you could try flashing that in cwm? You could try flashing a custom gb ROM from it (put files on a as card then in phone so not to use USB)

Go into download mode
for i9000 it's volume down + home + power
for i897 it's both volume keys, and with the usb cable into the phone + power.
If you see the yellow triangle with and android and a shovel that's it!
Then get a stock firmware for i9000 on www.smafirmware.com and flash it through odin with the .pit + 3 files (PDA + MODEM + CSC).
@calum96: I will give it a try.
@-m3ta- : USB doesn't work, so any tips involving a usb-cable won't help :/
Another thing I realized is that recharging is barely possible...
Odin and Samfirmware is the way to go

I don't understand why 3 combo key, USB won't work. I had flash a captivate firmware onto the i9000 and the regular trick worked
@MrAndroid12: I don't understand it either. But the phone crashes as soon as the usb is plugged. Recharging didn't work at all, the phone just got hot and that's it.
@calum96: thank you! I flashed dmore 3.3 and so far it looks good. No usb-crashes anymore and the phone acts as it should. There is still an AT&T-brand, but that's still better than a useless phone

You might be able to change the brands thing in build.props? Not sure tbh
So is it on i9000 firmware now? or is it just rooted? And is USB working now?

Galaxy Note Trouble

I got my Galaxy Note today, I was on 4.0.4 and I rooted it. Then I went to recovery mode and flashed teh recovery there is on clockworkmod webpage for Galaxy Note N7000. After that wipe factory and flashed PA 3.94, and it got stopped and reppently it turn off and I am not able to turn on the phone.... please need some help
the recovery for N7000 is in the kernel so the clockworkmod website flash of CWM doesnot stick.. boot into download mode and flash a stock rom ( preferably JB) and start again
I cannot access download mode I think....
Was it Cwm.zip by any chance?

As an ex-N7000 owner (I still browse these forums from time to time), I can tell you the Temp (non-touch) CWM you flashed is safe for for wipes and formats (hence no problem when you did factory reset with it). HOWEVER it is is not safe to flash ROMs where the zip file contains an updater script with format commands coupled with an update binary which does not suppress "secure erase" commands (Running on top of On ICS kernel - subsequently fixed by Samsung on JB kernels).
With CM.10.* ROMs there is no problem, but some ROMs still use bad update binary (probably from Android kitchen). I feel PA is the culprit in this case.
So it would now seem you are 'Superbricked". Only solution is repartition or new MOBO.
Edit: J-Tag won't work unfortunately.
Will try repartition, if not will try JTAG and if it doesn´t work will send it to service centre. But how to repartition if I cannot access Download Mode?
Download Mode is essential in order to flash required modified PIT file for repartitioning. I assume you can't enter recovery mode either right? That being the case service center is the way to go. J-Tag can't fix bricked areas, but may be also able to re-partition.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

I mean I cannot access download mode, or maybe idk how to do well, but if I cannot access download mode that maybe means I am hardbrick and not SuperBrick, and Hardbrick can be fixed via JTAG or at least it says here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656635
I just tried adb devices, not found. I connected Odin, not found. I try access recovery mode, impossible and I tried download mode(maybe idk how to ) impossible.
Also I have not battery signal when I connect phone for charging...
I think you may be both hardbricked and superbricked at the same time (Same as what happened to me). That is the worst case scenario Practice download mode more to see if you can get into it, and, if successful, flash stock GB with PC Odin. Otherwise try repartitioned PIT file from @hg42.

Okey, will try, about JTAG or JIG I think maybe it can get "alive" the phone and let me boot into download mode, idk if is like that There is a sequence for download mode? Try with or without batter? idk so much about Samsung, is my first Samsung Phone, and about you, what you did with it? Did you change your Note? Can I have what the guide call Died Brick?
I got a refund and put it towards Sony Xperia Z. J-Tag may fix bootloaders and bring download mode back, but bricked areas will never be recoverable. Download mode is 3 finger "salute". Forget the combo ATM. Don't have the device

And if I get download mode via JTAG and then repartition? I mean the only solution to bricked areas go good is via repartition,no? And for repartition I need download mode...
I AM STILL THINKING OF THIS, BUT NO SURE
There are three types of bricks for N7000
a) Soft Brick - Stuck at Samsung Logo [Added BootLoop here]
b) Super Brick - Stuck at flashing Factoryfs.IMG in ODIN . Also called as EMMC Bug....
c) Hard Brick - Sorry Unrecoverable by this guide. Try THIS
d) Dead Brick - No charging battery sign also - Mostly = Hard Brick ; But there is a window of possibility by a JIG.
If that guide is good, my device is on d) , but idk what JIG do
I mean if I JTAG will I can use my device? What problems will it have? And if I use JIG, what problems I will have? WIll it work good?
I have just see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0SX3iDuIZc
Do that video says I have to JTAG, then use the JIG for going on download mode and then, repartition or install JB ROM from Odin? Please just say me, I can try today
OKey have just commented with some DEVs. Jtag will repartition all for get it booting, so I am gonna try the JIG for see if I can get download mode. If I cannot I will make JTAG(will repartition) and then I will use the JIG for get into download mode(I also can make with hands), so if JTAG work I just need to flash JB via ODIN, my question is, can somebody send me a guide or link for JB to N7000 via ODIN? THANKS!!1 THANK YOU ALSO @shoey63

Thank you , I just asked for do not have problems like this again, but I have just check all JB ROMs, even stock one has secure kernel and I will can make it good, just really so much THANK YOU! And is really incredible how is easy is to get brick on samsung phones WOW! I am DEV for Huawei u8800pro, I made so much things and stupid things to my phone and never got bricked, never(also huawei has pink screen feature) but never, will take more care since tomorrow
I THINK DEV MUST PUT A GUIDE LINKED ON THEM ROMs THREADS, FOR PEOPLE READ IT BEFORE INSTALL
The guides are already there in the stickies, people just don't read before flashing.
